[q] whats the diff between glitched and stock - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I was browsing through the forums for my answer and I can't seem to find it. I've been using aokp builds for countless months (i just didnt count) updating and enjoying new feature updates and this and that. Only, one day I hopped onto the irc chat rooms because I found something exciting and new I didn't know about and wanted to ask some questions. I hopped into the room where some aokp members hang out and asked them about incorporating some of the features of icy glitched such as a software ghost key fix host mode and a few others and they seem intrigued. Next thing I know roman or someone dumps a link into the room and boom there's a build for aokp glitched right infront of me for the fascinate and every other samsung galaxy s device.
I feel like some of my questions are still floating around my head unanswered though. I know that glitch brought some kernel fixes to the mod, but what exactly is the difference between the new stock milestone aokp and new stock milestone glitched? Other than the fact that one has the glitched mod and the other doesn't obviously.
I just want to know the advantages and disadvantages to flashing the stock milestone 5 vs glitched milestone 5 with regards to battery life, performance, kernel version, features? What's the point of having two I just don't get it I guess?

the difference between glitch and no glitch:
ability to overclock
50mb of extra ram freed
callboost script(fixes speakerphone echo)
data fix script(fixes datadata issues some speak of)
phantom key popup fixes
I believe there might be a couple things Im missing, but look over the changelog in the icy glitch thread.

So if i'm understanding this right, they both have the same version of the linux kernel but glitched just has a different boot loader and different features from that mod? I don't know why there'd still be a stock cm aokp rom then because isn't glitched for the fascinate MUCH better with battery life underclocking during idle, better jpeg indexing? some stuff like that idk but it was performance based and a few features like usb host enabled and phantom keypress fix.
I just want to make sure i'm not missing out on something by sticking to glitched aokp builds. I get better battery life than I was ever getting before but that doesn't mean it can't get better

Nope you got it. Glitchy > stock aokp.

if you flashed the glitch build then there is no point in flashing glitch v14, you already have it. the only difference is glitched aokp has blue recovery instead of red. every since the upgrade to kernel version 3.x folks had issues with nandroid restore bootloops with glitch red recovery. you are set no need to do anything else...enjoy

Go for it...

Make a Nandroid backup and give it a shot. I doubt you'll be sorry. I've never looked back.

What are the differences between CM7 and CM9?

So I bought a SG2 a couple days ago (moving from Iphone 3gS). I'm kinda disappointed in battery life and my friend recommended installing a custom rom. I have CM9 on my Touchpad so I figured I'd give it a go on my phone too. As it is, I like the look/feel of the stock device (maybe I just don't know better) so I am thinking that using something more stable like CM7 would be more beneficial. Is there any major differences?
Cm9 is based of ICS and Cm7 of gingerbread.

Yes, I knew that, but is it worth using a more unstable build vs CM7?

In my opinion, CM9 is more stable than CM7 ever was on I9100/I777.
There's a variety of reasons for this, it's mainly that 6 months later, everyone involved knows MUCH more about the device than they did when ICS was first released and most of the CM maintainers either took breaks or started working CM9.
This especially holds true for I777 - When atinm took a break and codeworkx started working ICS, we didn't know a fraction of what the REAL differences between I9100 and I777 were that we do now. As a result the I9100/I777 device trees are MUCH closer together now than they were for CM7.
Just guessing, but I think CM9 will end up being better overall. Each version of Android brings unique challenges for the devs. For instance, CM7 on our device suffers from a Market bug that will cause periodic freezes. I don't think anyone is reporting that with CM9.
On my old phone, under CM6, they had a hell of a time getting the OS to read the voicemail number from the SIM card. When Gingerbread came out, it was never a problem from the beginning.
If battery life is your main concern, I recommend Entropy512's Daily Driver kernel. (Samsung-based ROMs only). He's working on one for ICS but his GB kernel has been used by thousands across what I guess to be dozens of ROMs.
EDIT: ^^The man himself^^

Never had a single problem with it so far. CM7 would only last 30 mins on my phone before I had to uninstall it due to stuff not working or crashing.
No clue what matters to you, but here are some specific differences as of April 9:
CM9 does not have the headphone volume bug that CM7 did, BUT...
...on CM9 the correct volume does not get restored after playback is interrupted by a notification
CM9 does not support notification LEDs, BUT...
...on CM7 Notification LEDs causes a wakelock (battery drain)
CM9 does not have as many extended features as CM7 (yet)
CM9 GPS is (at least anecdotally) not as good as CM7 (for now)
CM9 overclocking/undervolting support is brand new
Edit: CM9 does not have Theming (yet)
CM9 does not support USB Mass Storage, need to use MTP (inconvenient on Linux)
CM9 will not have Phone Goggles
The biggest factors (for me):
CM9 is ICS
CM9 has developers' attention

CM7 is based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread and is currently the Stable branch of CynaogenMod
I just figured CM7 would have been more stable. Maybe I'll look into CM9 then. I plan to root my phone today. Part of the reason I wanted CM7/9 was to get rid of bloatware, but it seems a root can do it too.

You know there are other options than CM, right? If you aren't one of the ridiculous TouchWiz haters (doesn't seem that way since you mentioned you like the default look of the phone) then go download and install SHOstock2 from the development forum. It's fast, stable, and just flat-out works. Easily the best of the ICS ROMs, IMO. When CM9 gets to a stable release state I'll give it a try, but the AOSP ROMs (mainly CM9 and AOKP) just aren't quite ready for prime time IMO if you look at the issues/bugs that still exist in them. Some people enjoy flashing new builds all the time and taking part in the dev process...personally I just want something that works. That's not to say that SHOstock2 is a finished ROM yet, but it's way farther along than the others. Give it a try - as someone who only recently made the leap from stock, I couldn't imagine ever going back.

Ditto... I'm running ShoStock2 for the better part of two weeks and can't deny that I'm in love. Previously to that I ran UnNamed and ShoStock for GB and loved both. The best thing to do is give them a try to see what you like. Our opinion may be biased based so I suggest you give the ROM's a try so you know what you like.

I'm actually kinda confused on what exactly Touchwiz is. If it's only the launcher than I switched to Launcher Pro, but I can't imagine it gaining that much hate if that is all it is.

It's built into the framework. It's not just a launcher and theme.
AOKP is pretty damn stable. The only bug is the mentioned CM9 issue with notifications lowering music volume. Also GPS is slow to lock sometimes for me. Other than that it's a great ROM. I gave ShoStock a try but just prefer the look of AOKP

touchwiz is so much more than a launcher
its the entire UI, the phone dialer, the contacts, the lockscreen, the SMS app, nearly everything you see on your phone is a Touchwiz UI. it is an overlay over the real android lurking below.

TouchWiz is a launcher and is Standard for Samsung GSII. It's all about taste if you ask me. I personally enjoy using ToichWiz or Apex launher over anything else. It's really up to you to determine what you like and how you want it to function.

[Q] aokp vs cm9

I'm currently running cm7.1, and really love it. I'm also really curious about trying out the ics roms and don't know which one to try. has anyone run both? which one did you like most and why? also, if I do a nandroid backup, is that the same as a windows image backup? ...meaning I can reinstall cm7 and glitch kernel, then flash my nandroid backup and be right where I was before I changed anything?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions &
Read the Forum Rules Ref Posting
Thanks ✟
Moving to Q&A
Yes you can restore a nandroid like you said as long as you are on the same ROM.
This is kind of an opinion, but I prefer Teamhacksung, as it is clean and bug-free.
ok cool. sorry about being in the wrong forum at first. so one for team hacksung, anyone else? I just want opinions as I don't think I have the time to try all the ics roms right now
aokp is by far the most solid ICS rom. its more how cyanogen use to be....lots of options to customise. THS cm9 is vanilla, meaning barebones.

This subject is opinionated and the OP should install both for a day to determine what he likes better.
Personally I used AOKP for the last six months, Yesterday I switched to CM9 experimental Linaro Build.. In my views way better than aokp..

Why?
i have the infuse but i started off using aokp switched to cm9 its been about a month.. goin back 2 aokp as of now cm9 isnt like cm7, i like tweaking and customizing as much as possible and i love the navigation bar aokp has..
Ok cool I think I'm about ready to try some out. One last question, I keep seeing things about how it's not easy to got back to cm7 from ics? Can someone give me some insight on this incase I don't like ics? Something with the different file types? I also want to keep my eh03 radio if I do end up going back to cm7
I'm now a little confused, after reading the guide for installing ROMS, in particular the ICS ones, arent all the ICS Roms based on what is stated- MTD CM9? So is there a difference aokp vs cm9? I guess what would be the large differnces between any two for example? Different kernels?

well i got impatient and went ahead and did it lol. i went with aokp 40.1 and devil kernel .79. the first try was a disaster, what seemed to work went straight to crash and reboot when waking from the lockscreen. i thought it was my oc i was messing with so i turned it back to stock volts and frequencies. low and behold it did it again but this time would not boot up, would not flash anything from recovery, would not format anything from recovery, it was totally bricked. i even tried reflashing cwm though odin and it was a no go.
finally after a few hrs of gathing info, i flashed the stock froyo rom and it unbricked it and i tried aokp again. this time i used aokp build 40, and devil kernel v.72 and everything is beautiful and works perfect, rock solid stability with 1200mhz multiplier oc, 110% fsb oc on liveoc totaling 1362mhz i think. the ics launchers suck and are laggy for me, i dunno why but go launcher is smoooootthhh and so is everything else on the phone. i cant find anything that doesnt work, im not regretting this or looking back at all, thanks a bunch for the help guys. im also pretty sure its snappier and quicker than cm7.2 was for me on my 1.3ghz overclock and glitch 13.1

ive seen it but was a little wary of it lol. for those wondering and addicted to voodoo color... at first i was worried i would loose the deep color and gamma control that i have with voodoo color, but the device color options do a really good job with it and there is a gamma control and it works great, no washed out colors or anything of that nature. im pretty hardcore on my vivid colors so i have the gamma maxed out minus a tad of green but it looks great.. to me.
for the guy who originally mention v0.85, so far its working great, cleared cache, dalvik, and ran ultimate kernel cleaning script then installed and it seems to be running great. the only thing now is the long term stability test, over a week ive had zero freezes FCs, or any issues with .72, i hope i can get this with .85. it seems a little snappier and nandroid is working again. thanks a bunch for the link, a few hours of searching for it and google still didnt help me. ill get back to everyone on the stability of it for me, running 110% fsb oc on nstools and slightly undervolted. im sure theres a ton of info already on other threads but ill still report back. thanks guys
edit: im still having issues with bln, is there a quick fix with it? it worked right away with my botched install of 40.1 and .79 kernel, witch was completely unstable, but now on 40, and .85 its still not working, any ideas? also on first boot from cold soft keys were unresponsive but seem to be working now. im not complaining as i know there are newer versions of the devil kernel but im trying to find a very good balance of functionality and stability.

[Q] JB ROMS

I'm running MIUI ROM from Th3Bill and loving it (thanks Th3Bill!), the latest release (.29) has transformed my phone - again.
I just have a question though.
I notice the bill releases lots of JB roms (AOKP, Paranoid Android, CNA, MIUI)..
I'm uncertain as to the difference between all of these.
do any work better or worse on the atrix 4g?
Don't get me wrong i'm not doubting TheBill for one microsecond, but am just curious as to why so many roms would be released by one person unless they have some difference between them, or is it just a different look and feel?
I guess i'm just wanting the best JB experience i can get with the ROMS currently available, and short of 'just trying them all', well. i took the lazy route and posted here to ask what fundamental differences there are to an end user perspective.
i understand the underlying release may have features which do not work with the atrix (cam/fp-sensor/tether) and this will be comon accross all ROMS using this underlying release.
thanks.
Gavin.
Best thing to do is probably use each for a day and see which ones have the features you like/need.
I haven't tried cna or pa yet, so I can't comment on their stability. I think since they are all based off the same cm10 that their issues (beyond the common issues of all the roms) are upstream. For example, I don't think any of the roms have camcorder 100 percent working, or native wifi hot spot. The individual roms probably have some smaller bugs that are upstream of th3Bill's work, like I said.
Here's a rough breakdown: miui is very themed/themeable and has some custom features like a cool lock screen, sms pop ups,... You probably know miui already, since you are on it. It's the most different from the rest.
Paranoid android specializes in tabet/phone hybrid ui, tweaking dpi for individual apps without reboot (I think)
Cna is the only jb rom (I think) that has custom lock screen targets yet. I don't know much about it other than that.
I'm on aokp, and I really like it. I like the notification toggles with a brightness bar underneath, and I like the rest of the systemui tweaks.
People can add to this, or correct me if I'm wrong about any of it.
Unfortunately it's a bit time consuming to set up a new rom every day, but there is only 4, so I'm sure you can find the time.... At some point.
I hope that helps a tiny bit. I'm still exploring them myself =)

Thanks for the quick and detailed reply.
Trust me to chose the 'most different' ROM (MIUI)
This is good information to have thank you, and gives me some comfort that i'm not missing out on anything, also that just trying each rom for a day or two is the way to do it.
Cheers for your help, although as my phone is a daily runner, i'll probably stick with what i know now (MIUI).
I may find a cheep atrix to try loading other roms onto soon and perhaps be adventurous with trying other roms on that.
many thanks
Gavin
Miui is definitely my favorite but it feels a little heavy/less responsive compared to aokp/cm10.
I can't comment on cna, or pa because I've never used them.
Aokp/cm10 are great. Fast and smooth and a few of the paid themes lurking around the play store are absolutely stunning, Dream, Lucid, PopStyle all amazing. I use Aokp because of it advanced visual preferences like centered clock, weather under toggles, sliders, lock screen tweaks, on screen nav buttons, stuff like that

I need my phone during the week too, so I usually try one out over the weekend. I definitely can't keep up with th3bill like that hah
Epinter
I´m using Epinter´s CM10 and I´m loving it. I find it very fast and my battery last all day.
I´ve tried MIUI and personally is the one I like the least. AOKP is good also, but not as good as Epinter.
I tried JB roms and my first ROM was CNA. But the provided build during my install had issues and Bill said he might take couple more days. Since it was more related to emails, i have to switch back to other ROM and switched to epinter.
I am on epinter CM10 and its i like it. But even in this ROM, i am having issues with apps like shopkicks not getting loaded.
And few times, when i launch four square app, i will see like slanting colored lines until i reboot.
Also rarely WiFi issues it wont connect and even not possible to disable Wifi until reboot.
But Battery wise i get nearly 1.5 to 2 days with regular use of browsing, 2 emails , texting and phonecalls.

[Q] ROM suggestions for bug intolerant girl?

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I recently upgraded to a nexus and at that same time a friend of mine broke her phone, so I gave her my fascinate with AOKP M6 on it...but she's getting sick of the bugs. Since I really have no way of testing I was hoping someone could help me make the decision of putting either a TW ROM or the latest CM 10 nightly on the fascinate.
I've been keeping an eye of the CyanogenMod gerrit and it looks like Jt1134 has made some serious headway, but can anyone give me their educated opinion? (I'm already running the nightlies on my nexus so I'm more interested in device specific bugs)
Thanks if you can help, I just have no way to test and I don't want to piss off a bug intolerant girl. ^-^
CM10 nightly is my suggestion... personally I've never had any real issues with it. The Devil Kernel 1.6.1 has been working great, but sticking with the stock kernel could be good for future releases. I much prefer using Devil because of the performance tweaks, but your friend probably won't care.
The TW rom will give rock solid stability too, but honestly... CM10 is so fast and smooth I can't see why anyone would bother with a GB rom anymore... especially since CM10 is practically bug free.

Thanks for the suggestion, yeah CM 10 looks like a very good option at the moment because of the now built in updater.
I also just remembered she was asking about the colors being washed out compared to stock, does the default CM 10 kernel come with anything to enhance that or would I need to flash devil kernel with Voodoo color? (She made it seem like a bit of a big deal so I promised I'd look into it)

I've never really messed with tweaking the colors to be honest, and I've always used the CMC (Cyanogenmod Color) version of Devil because the VC one gives me a weird negative image flash when coming out of sleep mode. I'm sure there are some apps that will adjust color that she could get from the market, no matter which kernel it is. I think I even remember looking for the app that adjusts Voodoo Color and couldn't for the life of me find it. Sorry I can't be more help, the colors were always vibrant enough for me so I never really cared to adjust them
edit: Well I did find some basic color calibration settings under System Settings > Device > Advanced > Color Tuning. Not sure if it's going to be what she's looking for, but it seems to be a built in feature for the rom itself, and separate from the kernel options. The devil config manager I'm using doesn't have any color tuning options at all.
The app you were looking for was probably Voodoo Sound, a color calibration option becomes available in it if you're on a VC enabled kernel. It doesn't really matter though, it looks like I'll be flashing Devil kernel anyway as I just read some reports of "screen jumpiness" on the stock kernel in the devil kernel thread.
I'm not really sure what that means but I'd rather just avoid it entirely.

Those issues are almost always from someone who 'dirty flashed' instead of doing a proper data wipe and clean install. I've run on the stock kernel many times never experiencing those issues. That said, I still prefer the Devil kernel but I can see a couple of problems with her using that... 1) If a newer Devil Kernel is released, will she know enough to flash it? 2) If CM10 gets another partition change, or something that will break Devil, and she updates it could cause a boot loop, and 3) If she's not into customs roms as much as you she might go into devil settings and cause a lot of trouble if she's 'unhappy' with the performance. Food for thought

Good points, I think I'll start her on stock kernel for a few days and go from there if she needs better performance/color control. Anyway, It's good to know the fascinate community is still awesome!
Thanks for your help.
I am curious to what bugs she has been having. I have been using AOKP since ICS build 28 with very few bugs if any throughout all the builds. I have been very pleased even with stock kernel as to how fast and responsive it is. I know CM to be good as well but prefer the cherry picks Steve spear has built into some of his releases

Apparently the browser randomly stops loading web pages and has to be force killed, MMS don't always come through, and...there were a couple more but I can't remember them at all.
I was really rushed when I flashed her phone and I'm pretty sure some of the stuff I put on there was in mid-development. (the kernel)
I have not had any problems with any web pages. MS6 for ICS should be stable although I am using the showcase on cspire network. Unfortunately I do not have picture/ MMS messaging to speak to that, but I know it has been a problem on several releases due to not wiping before flashing

I agree that MS6 should have been a lot more stable, but my recommendation stands... go with CM10, it's just plain better

i agree with this, for the colors i go there to the color tuning, just make sure you use a CMC kernel and not voodoo color. anyways my settings are 1.0 for red and blue, and .887 for green with all the gammas at -40. it looks amazing, vivid and sharp and not over saturated.
Wow that does look pretty good, did you just figure this out yourself or are there guides on how to calibrate?

i was just messing around with the colors in there and kept working down the gamma since im a sucker for vivid and non washed out colors lol, i ended up with them all the way negative but found out it had a tad of a green tone so i just moved the green slider back to where it looked about right. it is no one way calibrated or anything, just the best i could make make it look to my eyes.
If your friend really just wants a stable ROM, AOKP M6 should be their best bet. Likely the issue is that the phone has been upgraded many times; the best way to ensure a clean install of AOKP is to flash to stock in Odin then flash other things progressively to get to ICS. This post provides a great overview of the process.

If your follow those steps for your friend, the issues with the browser should disappear. The end result? A bug free rom that makes everyone happy. I personally wouldn't suggest upgrading to CM10 unless your friend really just wants to upgrade their phone periodically.

I appreciate the response, sadly those are pretty much the exact steps I took to flash the fascinate before I gave it to her. I really don't know what's up with it, but why do you suggest staying on ICS?
I'm running the CM10 nightlies on my gnexus and the only real bug I have is ringtones reset to the default within the first day after flashing, after that it's pretty flawless. Are there some other bugs on the fascinate that I should be aware of?

That's too bad... I'm very surprised that there are still issues!
I'm pretty sure the fascinate isn't on the officially supported device list for CM10, which means that more bugs could be present, but honestly I'm not terribly familiar with that ROM. For me personally, I think ICS might be better since the voice search is much faster and there's more storage space or apps, but that's just me.

The fascinate has been receiving official nightly cm10 builds for over a month, and due to recent partition layout changes, there is more storage space available than even a stock ROM.

As much as I loved AOKP ICS M6, CM10 just blows it away. It's the best JB rom I've ever run, and with Devil 1.6.1 it's a beast :good:
are there any pics of cm10 anywhere and does the camera and camcorder work? Gapps seperate?

Help Choosing a ROM

Hey guys my dad just got a Fascinate for his work phone and it's currently running Android version 2.3.5.. When I checked for a software update it said that was the newest version. Really? It never got ICS at least?
Now if this were my phone I would root it immediately and flash something newer onto it but it's my dad's, and he honestly does not need that many cool features and all that. Still, if the process was simple and the features were worth it, then I would be glad to do it for him.
I've been looking through the Fascinate forums and it doesn't look like any promising Jelly Bean ROMs are out. Maybe I am mistaken?
What is the most stable ROM you can recommend me that is relatively "new" as far as Android goes, as this Fascinate is still 2.3.5. I would just like something relatively new that is still being developed/updated, and is stable as it's my dad's phone and I can't constantly be babysitting it and fixing any issues.
Thanks guys (I have a feeling CM10 or so is the ROM I am looking for, as 10.1 doesn't seem to be up, but just let me know what is your opinion.)
Unfortunately yes, after the 2.3.5 update the Fascinate was completely left out in the cold and never got any further official updates. Lucky for us though, we have some extremely talented developers that have done far better than any crap Verizon might have pushed out on us.
You are certainly mistaken about the Jelly Bean Roms, there are a few really good options. Personally I'm running AOKP Milestone 1 (4.1.2) with Devil kernel and that's been my daily driver for a while now. CM10 would probably be your best bet for a 'stable' rom, although nothing is broken on AOKP too, so it's more a personal preference. The biggest issues that I see on here are related to phone calls (speakerphone, ringtone not playing, etc) so if he's to be on the phone a lot then you should probably skip JB honestly. This isn't to say there are workarounds and fixes but as you said, you don't want to be consistently fixing it, so...
Anyway, if it's his work phone and he values stability above all else and doesn't care about bells and whistles then perhaps staying with a good Gingerbread rom would actually be the best way to go.... Superclean and TSM Resurrection come to mind.
Search for JT's cm10.1 (Android v4.2.1) for fascinatemtd over on rootzwiki. I've been running this as my daily driver for the past month or two. It hasn't been updated for a couple weeks, probably because nothing is broken (nothing that I can find...)
My wife has a fascinate that I have running the cm10 nightlies (android jb 4.1). I'm in a similar situation as you in that my family member primarily needs a reliable phone, they won't really appreciate how cool it is that they're running the latest version of android, and I'll need to help out if anything doesn't work...
I haven't updated her phone for a month or two, but when I do it's a simple matter to update it via cmupdater. Very slick.
The safest option would probably be the gingerbread-based GeeWiz 2.9. The dev is awesome and has recently updated the build just to make it neat and tidy.

Ah yeah I forgot about geewiz. Another amazingly talented dev we're lucky enough to have, and better yet extremely active on these forums still. Do you have the link to the 2.9 thread? I can only find the 3.3.3 thread (JB) for some reason.
I personally don't like the changes in 4.2 over 4.1 so I went back to 4.1.2 for the time being. It's only little things like the notifications and lock screen, but for some reason I like the layout of 4.1 better... but that's just me. I have yet to try CM10.1 though so I may just give that a go in the future to see how it is.

Here's the link to the GeeWiz 2.9 thread. I point out GeeWiz 2.9 since it's the closest to what Verizon last delivered as "stock" (Gingerbread) for the fascinate that has also received recent support/attention. Back in the day, I was partial to the final SuperClean3 Milestone 2 release (albeit for some esoteric reasons around the illumination behavior of the hardware keys that I believe have since been addressed in GeeWiz).
On the CM10 vs. CM10.1 question, I've had the (purely subjective) impression that latter is a bit faster...

I also think that 4.2 was a little snappier, although I didn't do any actual testing to verify that. I just get annoyed really easy by the little things that I don't like, like the new notifications, and I think for now I'll deal with 4.1 because it's still plenty fast for my needs (using SmartassV2 and Zen seems to help a lot). Hopefully in the future CM or AOKP will add some features to make 4.2 feel like 4.1 (kinda like how there was some older ICS options in the JB AOKP).

sorry for off-topic, but what is your cpu OCd to if OCd at all
I've been running 200MHz min / 1200MHz max and screen off 200MHz min / 800MHz max (normal OC, not LiveOC). Battery life has been pretty good with it and it seems to be less sluggish vs stock. I also undervolt quite heavily too, you can check my thread I made about it in General a while back for my settings. I'm certainly not one of those people who want to squeeze every last drop of performance from their phones because I personally value battery life above performance, but I certainly don't want a sluggish phone either so I've tried to find a good balance
Alright guys thanks a lot for the suggestions I saw several of these myself and did the reading it was just hard to decipher it all considering I was new to the Fascinate
I've tried most of the jb ROMs for fascinate and settled for baked black bean v6 with devil kernel 1.9.5. Runs great but been having issues with MMS.

Same here bbb6 with devil 1.9.5. But to fix my issues with MMS I just move to using "go SMS" with custom MMS setting and removed the stock app.
Side note: I do find "go SMS" to be horrible app along with the dev team. I mean yes the app works and yes I use it. But only because I have too. The is always nagging me to go try another theme, to get there launcher, or its sending me fake chat messages about how I should there go chat feature. I mean I have a list of things I dislike about it. But again it does get the job done....

I'm using revol wireless. And I can get MMS to work. But it's way slower sending through the stock app then when I send through go SMS. Plus go allows me to rotate my PICs before I send them.
