Hi,
Someone know where can I buy an replacement for the LCD Screen and the Digitalizer?.
I have a Nook Tablet with the screen completely broken and I can´t find replacement (I only find replacements for Nook Color). I´m from Spain and I can´t send the Nook Tablet to Barnes&Noble to repair.
Thanks in advance.

Ebay has digitizer for $90, which in my opinion is way too much considering ipad digitizers are about 30-40 bucks.
Sad to say, it's there isn't enough supply and demand for the nook to justify buying the lcd+digitizer, might as well just buy a brand new nook.

The problem is that I´m not sure that the digitalizer in Ebay are compatible.
I look this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120883552939&ssPageName=ADME:X:eRTM:US:1123 and ask the seller about it. The seller said that is compatible with Barnes & Noble Nook Color. The LCD model in the screenshot of the article apear to be the same that in Nook Tablet.
Is the Nook Color display compatible with Nook Tablet?
Thanks.

This is a very good question- something that you probably have to research, maybe even call B&N nook tablet/color tech support and find out.
Be very careful however, someone might say yes and not really know. To give you some reference, iphone 1/2/3/4 all have different digitizers (even though they look the same). Putting the wrong digitizer can cause some damage, including blowing out your backlight chip- 6r8 coil in my case(I know this from experience )
Thanks JRam13.
Probably the LCD+Digitalizers I see in ebay have the same model of screen (the model of the LCD is the same that in Nook Tablet), but the digitalizer could be different and that´s the reason the seller said that is compatible with Nook Color.
I´ll try to find a proper replacement on the Internet or a bricked Nook Tablet (so difficult because I think is an unbrickable device).
Regards.
The digitalizer in Nook Color and Nook Tablet isn´t the same:

I found a chinese Web with appear to have replacements for the Nook Tablet. I send and e-mail asking for details.
If I found a proper replacement I put it here.

There you go. I really don't have an answer to why all these digitizers seem to be different from one generation to the next- I would like to know electronically how they differ. Since a wrong digitizer can kill your coils, it might be a voltage situation.
Not really sure, hopefully you can find out.
Some of the newer nook colors have the same screen as the nook tablet.

Any way to check newer nook color to tell if it has new screen— by serial # , manufacture date maybe? Or do I have to crack open case and look?
OP, did you ever find a replacement screen for nook tablet?
I am very curious to find a replacement as well. Although, is there any way to tell if the digitizer is still in operable condition? My LCD has a major crack across the upper portion. When you try to turn it on, all you see is the massive rainbow effect across the top of the screen. I would hate to purchase the whole thing when just the LCD would suffice? Is that even possible?
Nook color screen replacement part
go to bcdelectrostore
for Nook replacement screens for $39.99 and links to help install them

has anyone looked into the possibility or upgrading the LCD in these to a higher quality one? that would solve many of my issues with the device. I see they have been researching this on the gtablet forum but search didnt find any information on this site for the 101....
anyone know enough about this to recommend a plug n play replacement?
Never done it on a tablet, but on a laptop you typically want to aim for the same or lesser resolution unless the video supports higher (on this would have to be exact same resolution probably) and you want a backlight that has similar power characteristics. Then you need the frame to be the exact same physical size, frame and thickness included. Good luck, lemme know what yah find id like a nice IPS or S-IPS in mine.
Hi, a normal laptop 1024x600 resolution 10.1 panel will work, it used standard connections. I have tried that with a pixel qi. It works but no touch obviously. However the capacitive touch panel is stuck on the screen so you will need to purchase an extra touch panel to stick on top of the lcd screen you will buy. However i dont think there is any ips 10.1 inch screens. These are made customely for devices i believe.
At its most expensive it is a $350 device (101 - 16GB). Completely not worth it financially to upgrade the LCD. You would be better off spending that money to buy a Adam with the Pixel Qi screen if you were so inclined to have a higher quality capacitive screen. It would probably cost less too.

at 1.5lbs and $500 ill pass on the adam. you can purchase better lcds for ~$100 thats still cheaper than the adam also... but finding that the touch panel is glued to the lcd kinda ruins this idea. oh well CES next week will have plenty of alternatives to the 101 im sure
Hey guys, I've been a long time lurker but never really posted that much.
i was wondering if there was any way that the ASUS transformer keyboard can be hacked with the gtab dock adapter? I dont im alone in this, or if not that do you think there will be some third party who would make one? I think the sale on woot and now amazon might help push manufactures to make it.
Its very less likely that the keyboard would work due to the proprietary connector.
That said, a blutooth keyboard with a 10" enclosure should work no problem, and I see many manufacturer going into this once the transformer style become popular.
There is nothing unique about the eee keyboard the convertible style keyboard was already available for IPAD2 long before any one knew about the EEE.

I just love the idea that I can have a netbook and a tablet and switch at my convenience. The links that you posted is exactly what I am looking for. Is there anything in that style that will fit the Gtab?

unfortunately not that slick, you currently can go with the clip cases with USB or BT keyboards, they are very campy compared to this (well at least the USB version doesn't cost that much).
That said, I think with the huge recent surge in GTab owners, I don't think it would be that before some go on and make a professionally looking case like the ones quoted above (esp if the EEE transformer goes popular)
Crossing my fingers to that! I've spent a lot of time looking at everything that is currently available for our G tabs, and nothing seems "professional"; instead it all looks slapped together. Engadget has been posting a few articles about the G tab and with the lower price and the over clocking kernels....
Here me hoping that some third party shines some light back in Viewsonic's direction.
My Folio 100 suffered an accident and the LCD got cracked. A big part of the LCD is not working.
Other than that, the tablet is working properly, the touchscreen works, the tablet boots and you can launch applications and use them to some degree.
Is it possible to replace the screen? Where can I find a replacement LCD for this tablet? Would it be possible to replace it with a better quality LCD?
Im not sure you can do it yourself. You have to find a lcd that matches the connector used in the folio and uses the same driver, has the same size and resolution. On top of that if you open the folio you void your warrenty. Speaking of that, cant you get it fixed where you bought it?

my folion up room lost, you want buy my folio you pay 200$ all folion 100 pleast contac me
don't try to fix it, buy new tablet. Maybe wait for christmass and you'll see what can you buy now. there are new generations with faster CPUs and better touchscreens.
Somehow I managed to break the screen on my Folio 100.
I want to at least try and replace the screen(which according to what I've read and seen shouldn't be too difficult).
It uses the N101L6-L0D screen from Chi Mei Optoelectronics, if you google "N101L6-L0D specs" the first link to appear should be a .pdf with all the technical specs of the LCD.
Based on the specs on the .pdf could you recommend a superior screen that would work on it, the Folio 100 LCD is annoying, you have to either hold it directly at your face or upside down to not get that annoying color change.
And please don't reply with "Just buy a new tablet" like I see so many others do, that's not what I asked for.

Here in Iceland I bought my Folio for 70.000 ISK, it will cost me around 15.000 ISK to repair the screen, I like my Folio, I replaced the Android 2.2 with 3.0, giving me the android market which made the tablet 10x more useful.
So I'd like to salvage this thing.
First I must say I have no experience with these sellers or their products. Use Paypal so you get protection from being scammed.
If you search for "Toshiba Folio" on eBay you get a list of stuff related to the Folio, and among them are two Italian sellers selling screens for the Folio.
I'm not allowed to post direct links, but if you search make sure you do a worldwide search. I think their listings are done on eBay Italy.
You could try asking them about the quality of the screens. The price is reasonable.
i have one lcd for toshishiba folio do you want buy it?

Does anybody know what oem screen the 80 g9 uses? My girlfriend dropped her tablet and if they don't cover it under warranty I am confident I can replace the screen, I just need to know where to find one. I went to Ali Baba, and all I could find were complete tablets. A google search turned up nill as well. Has anybody had their tablet apart and noted the serial for their screen? I don't want to crack it open just yet because we may be sending it in for a repair but if they won't do it for free I'd love to be able to find one on my own. Thank you for your time.

Hi, I know of no OEM manufacturers, however I am considering selling/scrapping my tablet for parts. The screen is in perfect condition. How much are you looking to pay?

Is it a turbo? Because if it's a turbo the screen may draw too much power or might require more ram than my poor little bugger has. I understand that the turbos ship with a brighter higher resolution screen but it might be here-say.
What's the problem with your tablet is it bricked or are you just tired of having it?
The oem manufacturer for the screens in the 80 g9 are innolux, however I can't find where to buy them wholesale.
Customer service is atrocious and only want to have my girlfriend spend $120 to send it in and have their techs replace the screen. I don't see why they can't just tell me where I can get the screen myself. Or offer to sell me the part, considering they'd make more money selling me the part with shipping than paying the poor bastard to replace the screen but oh well.
I'm currently in a bidding war on Ebay on a tablet but I'd be more than happy if you could pm me what you want for the tablet.
Also sorry for the delayed response, I'm having trouble setting up this forum to notify me when there is a comment on the thread.

Yes, i have the turbo. 80G9. My girlfriend bumped it while it was charging on a table, it hit the floor screen up and landed on carpet. It only fell about 3 feet, but with the short heavy USB cable and cheap connector point, the micro-USB port snapped right off. Everything else is in tact, and it still turns on, the charger is the only issue. I did take the case apart to see if I could solder it back on, however it has 3 tiny mount points, and I dont think i have the equipment or skills to do that. It still turns on with the screen unclamped (every cord is plugged in) but it only has about 8% battery in it, so I'm gonna save that to either wipe the hard drive from recovery, or sell it for parts.
I'm not sure if the screen requires more power. Do you know if it actually does or not? I had the 1ghz version and the turbo doesn't appear to be any brighter.
Hey Shano I pm'd you.
