Did Samsung send out Review units after the announcement? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Im in desperate need of a new phone(bricked my faithful nexus one, now im back to my HTC "Magic".
Just wondering if we can expect some real battery life tests any time soon, Or if we are going to have to wait until the phone is actually available before we know whether or not the Exynos is going to destroy batteries.

vibrant 2? .... is it worth it to change my vibrant for a nexus S?
I think he's basically saying there is always gonna be something newer and better around the corner. Do some research on the new phone, and weigh out your needs.
If youre happy with your Vibrant, then stick with it. Most people here are gonna tell you Vibrant. I have a feeling things are about to get real exciting development-wise for this phone soon as well.
Hell no. Basically the Same phone. We'll have gingerbread ported.
Wait for a new dual core, then upgrade
In one way, buying a Nexus shows Google there is a demand for it- which I hope they realize. We need at least one AOSP phone a year, it's a necessity. However, the Nexus S is a step back from the Vibrant. If we can get AOSP on the Vibe working with 720p and TV-Out and the Samsung codecs (not sure about that last one), the Vibrant will be leaps and bounds better.
Personally, I'm sticking with the Vibrant.
Been playing with nexus s all day its pretty sexy. Got four devices for launch tomorrow, I'm sleeping on the idea to buy it in the morning. It's a really slick device but is it worth it....... Damn I can't deside.

Dingggg!!!! Wait's over.
why stop at dual-core.
go for the octa-core!
^^ ha, yeah I saw that too. Only going to get better gentleman. Welcome to the future.
Not upgrading until a Tegra2 based dual core phone WITH SD card slot hits the States. I won't be upgrading to the Nexus S mostly due to the lack of a SD card slot. However. the Nexus S also seems like a downgrade IMO since I could care less about any NFC / FFC and I'll be running Gingerbread soon enough.
I'd wait for a dual core so you at least know that you have the hardware specs to upgrade to Honeycomb down the road. If you have the expendable income to get another phone next year, it is nice to have the updates directly from Google instead of Samsung. I carry my laptop to work every day, so the internal SD isn't such a deal breaker for me. I'm still undecided myself. It's like 75-25 on keeping the Vibrant. Either way, you'll have a nice device
First off this is not meant to be flaming or what ever just my opinion is about selling a phone to get a new one, obviously people do this all the time, hence this thread...anyways
I personal think it is stupid to sell a phone just to buy a new one, in my experience a phone lasts me 2 years before it starts to fall apart on me and just plane old suck. by that time:
a.)The new and brightest phones are all out and are affordable
b.) since I have been with tmobile basically since time began and usually keep my current phone 6months to a year after contract, they will just give me any phone I ask for for free and a signing of another 2 year contract at my current rate (while at the time of signing the first contract was quite high, now.....well let's just say I pay very little now a days)
anyways good luck with your decisions
and please don't get me wrong, I was thinking about getting the Nexus S for myself soon and handing my girl my vibrant since her contract is up soon and she will be getting a free phone ;D lol

Decisions, Decisions....

Hey guys, I have a good friend that has an amazing offer for me. He is able to get phones for nothing basically and I was curious if you guys could help me out.
I don't like to leech with comments like these, but this is my first leech XD.
I am rooting phones for him and I have done like 10 different ones so far, and he has offered me any phone I want...I love my inspire, but it is already being outdated by the tegra 2's and the tegra 3's coming soon.
Basically, should I go for the Samsung Galaxy SII or wait for the nexus prime? I know there isnt much information on the prime, but it is probably going to be announced at Samsungs event next week. I know someone will be like, "oh just get both", but that is rude to my friend.

Should I buy this phone?

Alright, so I saw that SingTel has only a few smartphones available for now and I would like to ask if I should go for this phone. Obviously its cheaper than the Galaxy S II and should be umder my budget. My question is:
Will it be worth it to buy even in next year April. Cos I'm not sure of what is going to be developed on the phone and what are the things that would bbe developed on this phone for (like MIUI ICS and ICS based ROMs or even ICS Update)

Unless I am seriously stupid (high probability) your statement about when you are planning to buy it was ambiguous, and needs clarity. So you are asking if you should buy now, or would it still be worth buying in April?
The evo 3D has good hardware, it is no longer bleeding edge or cutting edge in terms of its hardware or performance but currently is still very much a device that has good performance and value for its price.
Now, in April if the reason you are asking if it is still worth buying because you have some partial or full discount upgrade and want to know if it is still worth buying in comparison to the current or future device releases before or around April, then I am going to suggest differently. I have not read or searched for any up coming devices, but without looking I think I could accurately say with confidence that there will be a device released before or around April that has better performance than the evo 3D, and also would come stock with ICS. If that is the case that ends up being true then I recommend you wait for one of those devices. Just my opinion of course

I'm confused on the same thing! (So either we both are stupid or it really doesn't make any sense) I would pick HTC over Samsung because I'm not a fan of the AMOLED screens. The vividness of them is nice, but almost seems too fake to me. Defiantly not better then the qHD and HD screens. And if you compare the communities, I think we here in the EVO 3D community have a good strong bond and a lot to offer. If your looking for a phone now, I'd go with the EVO 3D, if your going to wait till April, then id hold off.

Whoops sorry. My english standard is too low to understand I guess
I don't want to have anything a very high specs since I don't really require as much juice as 1.5Ghz, and just wanted to know if by April 2012 the phone would get the ICS Update from HTC, if so I would go ahead and get it as the top priority now for considering to buy a phone is whether or not the phone would be getting the ICS Update.

That's ok, I understand English as a second language must be difficult. Thanks for trying either way! I have not read any reports on whether or not it will get ICS officially or not, but it will definitely get ICS as a custom ROM before then. I believe the drivers for the evo 3D are being released at the end of December (this is what is currently holding back its development for the 3D). If you are willing to root and flash a custom ROM then I would say yes ICS is coming before April.

[Q] whats the next dev heavy phone

time to upgrade ,from a photon 4g ,great device spec were bess performed like a beast camera tops battery life awesome (with any other rom than stock ) im not a dev myself but i was wondering whats the next dev heavy phone , im thinking the asus padphone anyone care to suggest with their reasons why ?
Galaxy Nexus.
Or wait until November/December timeframe for the Next Nexus.
Why? Because it's a developer phone. You can't get more "dev heavy" than that.
i was also thinking the samsung galaxy s3 after seeing 1 and 2 , but i can see why you'd suggest the nexus . maybe worth the wait

[Q] Upgrade Advice

Hi Guys,
I'm due for an upgrade in a few weeks time and I'm currently on a Samsung Galaxy S2, I don't really want to go to the S3 as I don't think it's enough of an upgrade. Is there something else I should be waiting for?
Cheers
No matter what you buy, never consider a Motorola, especially one with a locked bootloader.

Bump.
Upgrade due in a week, would be great if I need to hang on for the much rumoure new Nexus?
I believe the HTC One X is supposed to be being re-released state side with a quad core. I would definitely be holding out for a quad core.
Speaking as a nexus one owner who went to a galaxy s2 I'd highly recommend you hold off for the next nexus. You'll love being a nexus owner for many reasons. Trust me...

That is the top dog. LG has a quad core out as well, but I have a hard time recommending an LG.
Hi guys, Thanks for the replies.
I'm thinking I might wait till the next Nexus line up I'm just concerned on when they'll be available as I don't really want to wait till xmas before my new phone, whens the likely release date for the UK is that info out yet because I can't find anything searching on the net.
Butchr - I'm similar whilst the LG looks good, it's an LG
