time to upgrade ,from a photon 4g ,great device spec were bess performed like a beast camera tops battery life awesome (with any other rom than stock ) im not a dev myself but i was wondering whats the next dev heavy phone , im thinking the asus padphone anyone care to suggest with their reasons why ?
Galaxy Nexus.
Or wait until November/December timeframe for the Next Nexus.
Why? Because it's a developer phone. You can't get more "dev heavy" than that.
i was also thinking the samsung galaxy s3 after seeing 1 and 2 , but i can see why you'd suggest the nexus . maybe worth the wait

well i need a new phone now and my phone contract ends tmr.. so im wondering.. should i get the galaxy nexus or wait 2 to 3 months for the htc one? most phones come here only a month or so after UK/US release so it would probrably reach here around may or june.
edit: i also do not feel like rooting my phone for at least a year as i have warrenty and the last time i rooted my phone, i couldnt un-root it. and i do not really care much about terga 3 since there were very few terga 2 "exclusive" games..
id wait a few months mate galaxy s3 will be out by then which will be a bit more of a hands on experience than the nexus.
but its upto you dont forget mwc was only a couple weeks ago so in 2-3 months the shops will be flooded with more choice again
Tapped from a modded GS2
For the record, it's pretty easy to unroot a Nexus phone.
I am hardly thinking about Galaxu Nexus 'cause it has fresh system updates without any other manufacturer's bloatware and problems and I really like clean ICS design.
I think that the Galaxy Nexus is the best of two, cause its cheaper and you'll have official updates by google

Nexus being cheap does not mean its the best out there. Quite clearly the Htc One X will beat all the phones in terms of performance.

What is your current phone right now? Is it an android that runs 2.3? If so, I would say wait a couple months for the new phone. Galaxy Nexus is already old in terms of technology BUT developers are now just creating programs for it. If you wait a few months for the new phone, it would have the new tech and still be able to run ICS 4.0 and you are ahead of the galaxy nexus owners
So I've had my Droid Incredible since it came out and loved it. I was eligible for a new phone a few weeks ago but wasn't quite ready. Today I figured out my accelerometer died and it's annoying me to death. So I'm going to take the plunge. I'm currently with Verizon, so it'd have to be a Verizon phone. I don't want anything with a slide out keyboard. Other than that, I'm open to suggestions. My first thoughts were:
Samsung Galaxy Nexus
LG Spectrum
Droid RAZR
Now, the other question I have is, should I stick it out for something coming next month like the Droid Incredible 4G, GSIII, or *prays* the ASUS Padfone?
I would wait for new wave of phones if I were you.maybe better performance dualcore phones with big battery and cool new screen tech.Iam sure Verizon will get some badboyz soon.
Ps;get something with icecream sandwich out of box.waiting is killing me

If you are into flashing ROMs and modding then you are going to want the Nexus since its a Nexus. The Razr is a nice phone hardware wise but it comes with Motorola's locked bootloader and delayed ICS.
I've had the first galaxy since it came out and its awesome! Its obviously a really old device so it doesnt handle somethings too well, but i still love it.
Im super stoked for the galaxy 3. I would suggest getting that phone!

Good point. Forgot about Motorola's locked bootloaders.
i have the spectrum and i love it... its fast no lagging... battery life for my dad which is about normal usage is about 16 hours...
it has been rooted.. and it has clockworkmod.. but if you plan on using custom roms this is not the phone to choose... we had 1 dev working on cm7 and today he posted that he was giving up because he cant get it to flash properly..
if you have the money for it i would choose the galaxy nexus.... the nexus devices have more dev support than any other phones
Well i would say that if you cant wait and have to make choice from Samsung Galaxy Nexus,LG Spectrum,Droid RAZR then choose Nexus....but if you can wait then go for S3 .....I am hoping the Galaxy S3 when it finally comes will bring the best of the Galaxy S range along with Android 4.0 ICS.
I have now Htc desire running gingerbread using custom rom and I want to buy a new phone , and I'm thinking of buying samsung galaxy s2 based on its reputation, will this idea be good or not as they both are running the same os and price of samsung galaxy s2 is kind of expensive.Does it worth. Thanks in advance.
galaxy s2 is much better compare to desire and s2 is now running with official ics. so if you got the right deal just go for it, else if you are not in a hurry to purchase and need something better wait for s3
you should wait for the launch of galaxy s 3 and buy the s2 then. the price will go down.
desire is an old phone, upgrade now to SII. SIII will be out in 8 - 10 months, and couple more for prices to get stable. thats a long time plus it will be as expensive or more when launched.
Get the GSII because it's a brilliant phone. It's still ahead of the competition, you can get a variety of great & stable roms and themes - and it's affordable now. Then change it 2 years from now with a cheap SGIII . . .
I am currently using a HTC Supersonic (EVO) running 4.1.2 Jelly Bean using the Evervolv ROM. I've had the phone for a two years now and I have no intention of leaving Sprint. My other Android device is an Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 with CM10. I would like to get a new phone, mostly because I want a better hardware. Battery life is probably one of the most important things to me when it comes to a phone as my college schedule is very spread out and I don't have more than an hour or two that I would get to charge until night.
The question is.. should I wait to upgrade my phone for a new phone? I really liked the Nexus 4, but there is not a CMDA version and Google hasn't expressed that they will even be releasing 4G LTE yet alone accommodating other providers with non open standards.
What I don't like about the SIII is it the casing feels to cheap, and it was released in May. So it seems like it will be outdated too quickly, and the Note II I cannot see having good battery life even though it has a 3100mAh battery.
Any thoughts suggestions?
The last question is.. what are you going to do upgrade wise?

Nothing can be said as far as 2014 is concerned. ATRIX HD can also be considered as an option. It's a decent phone.

I would recommend getting a Nexus 4 if it is available for 350 in your country. If not, the Galaxy Nexus is allot more future proof than our S2. Jellybean will most likely be the last update for our S2, whereas the Galaxy Nexus will for sure get Key lime pie (or whatever version is next). The Galaxy Nexus is quite on par with the S2, but instead you get the fast updates, and the development team is going to go strong for at least two more years. Hope I helped!
