sense keeps rebooting after ICS firmware update - HTC EVO 3D

i wanted to try the new ics leak for the GSM evo 3D from the virtuous team.
i did as requested by installing the firmware first and then the rom using clockwork.
sense seeps crashing when i started up and so i reverted my backup. The problem remained so i think it is to do with the firmware.
- the touch screen is also often not responding.
is it possible to undo the firmware upgrade?

how can I update the rom on my phone?

So after I got my Evo 3D back in august, I rooted my phone and flash to viper rom, i believe after that I update to the version Viper RC1.3(i think its 2.3.3 base)... Now I feel like I'm so far behind, i tried to update to infectedrom (a 2.3.4 base) but when I do, my 3G its gone, I'm stuck on 1x. also on miui the same thing happens, so I went back to viperrom again, I don't like it no more because when i try to send a text message with more than 160 letters(when its 2 messages) it wont send, also I keep getting this message "Selected network rout not available(activate wifi or change preferences to use 3g)" also "Fail to add media Transport", I try to update on my phone by going to update firmware but it says not firmware available! Can someone help me to go back to stock so I can do updates or how to go to some rom on 2.3.4 and i wont lose my 3G. I already spent hours on this forums trying to find how to fix my problem but no luck. thanks!
Do a complete wipe and install CleanROM from www.scottsroms.com. Great ROM and Scott is very hands on.
Well, I did the wipe, and installed Miui, but no luck :S
I would do a complete wipe and then wipe it again... What hboot version are you on 1.5? There are special ways of flashing roms that include kernals for 1.5, scottsroms.com has instructions to flash on hboot 1.5, if you don't follow the instructions you will Bork some stuff, how are you restoring your apps?
Shot from my shooter in 3D
injected with cleanrom2.7
I have 1.4 hboot and to restore apps i use Astro
That's odd...

well, I did wipe my phone again like 3 times and flashed Infected rom again after erasing Miui, It looks like my signal its pretty good after an PRL update, it looks like most of the things are fixed, but i still get the 1x whenever I send a text message, stays there for a second, then goes back to 3G, at least I got the rest fixed! YAY!

I've learned that the Anthrax kernel for Evo 3D causes a lot of reboots, despite what I had the CPU clock speeds at. But once I flashed the original 2.17 stock kernel, I haven't had a random reboot since. My ROM is Fresh Evo 3D 4.2.0 (based off of RUU 2.17).
If you're S-ON: use Flash Image GUI to flash the kernel or flash via fastboot.
Don't forget to wipe your cache and dalvik-cache
If you are using a 2.17 rom you probably need to update your firmware. There is a package here is the quote from the meanrom thread:
2.17.651.5 ROMs need the latest firmware. See freeza's all in one firmware update if you haven't done that already. If you unlocked via the HTC method, you know the drill: you'll have to take the OTA and then re-unlock.

I did this and it fixed it for me. But i have s-off and hboot 1.5.
^smokin how ya been buddy? been a while. lol
to the OP...
random reboots can be a lot of things. you need to remember that not one kernel will perform or function the same on every device. i would say flash stock kernel, if that fixes the issue, then good. if not, then there is another issue somewhere that is causing your reboots.
a few questions, though:
when it reboots, is it while you are using it? or does it just do it at random... basically what i am asking is it possible for you to cause it to reboot by doing something specific?
when it reboots, does it load up the OS completely, or does it get caught in a boot loop?
also, do it do a FULL reboot, or does it boot the boot animation (the moving animation after the static screen)?
this will help assess your problem.
My first evo 3d started doing this to me, tried everything to fix it, eventually went back to complete stock with super wipe and still didn't fix it. It got so bad that I updated to 2.17 with hboot 1.5. Phone stopped would stop responding after going through initial setup. Took it to sprint and got it replaced. Only thing I could think of that caused it is over flashing it. Flashing almost every day.

[Q] Please help a (Rezound) noob. Probably super simple fix.

I bought a Rezound on ebay, pre-rooted/unlocked with the leaked ICS / Sense 3.6 ROM (besides that, pretty much bone-stock)
I decided I wanted to try out a different ROM and make sure I am familiar with the process before I try to do the S-OFF process....
Well, I found that the first thing I needed to do to upgrade to (insert ICS/Sense 4 Rom here) was to upgrade to the newest Firmware (3.11.605.22), and I am currently on 3.11.605.01 ... I followed their instructions closely to update the firmware ( re-lock , load new FW as PH98IMG.zip , flash it , unlock, etc)
Well, that didn't work for me, when I got to loading up hboot and it automatically updating the FW, it didn't do what the instructions said it would, it showed a dark blue bar near the top/right, waited for that to complete, then same thing but yellow, that completed and asked to reboot, but would only reboot to fastboot...
eventually I unlocked it again and it allowed me to return to my ROM (normal ICS/sense 3.6)
Sorry about this short story... lol ^
Basically I cannot for the life of me install any rom with success... I can't even restore the nandroid I made last night (before any of this) with success..
the CLOSEST thing to success I got was installing newts One XxX sense 4 rom, it booted, and will sit on the lock screen just fine, but when I try to unlock and go to settings to turn off animations (like instructed) it will freeze and reboot....
DO I need to install the newest FW???
OR what do I need to dooo?
Pls help! I am fairly familiar with android, as I had a D Inc before this, evervolv ICS etc etc....
Thanks alot anyone !

If you want to go back to a GB rom you need to reflash the boot image that came with it. If you want a sense 4.0 to work you need to flash the old firmware patch. For the patch I have attached it. Flash it via recovery and your rebooting on a sense 4.0 rom/ new firmware rom should be gone. (don't forget to follow the OP for Newts rom about disabling animations btw) for the boot images look to the op of the rom you are running.

Ok thanks for the reply, I did install the "old firmware patch" included with Newts XxX Sense 4 ROM, and I can successfully get the ROM to boot, it doesn't operate very well, and only for a few minutes because it will freeze and reboot. It doesn't allow me to get to the settings, no matter how fast I try to get there, it ALWAYS freezes before I can access the setting :/ ...

Hmm.. wow I'm lost. I had the same issues before I installed the patch, but after I didn't and it went fine. I'm going to have to think about this one for awhile.

Okay after flashing the ^above^ patch, the rom seems to work now, it didn't freeze so I was able to turn off animations and now it works might fine
Do you know by chance any good kernels for an ICS/Sense 4 ROM?
the stock one was draining faster than it was charging (while plugged in lol)
So I tried out the 1.836 OC kernel and it seems to be working fine, but I am interested more in battery life than performance right now, coming from the DInc, this phone is buttery smooth and doesn't REALLY need OC just yet (for me anyway)
Thanks for the help by the way!

[Q] Lost Sprint Data Connect and Cannot Update Profile

So, long story boring, when taking advantage of my sprint upgrade, my phone number (associated with my Evo 3D) was switched to a new phone and then back again, but now I've lost connection to the sprint data network (no 3G) and my ROM (Android Revolution HD 2.0.1 by mike1986) doesn't have any option to update the profile. I brought my phone into a nearby sprint store, and the customer representative told me that I'd have to un-root my phone, update the profile and then re-root the phone...does this sound right?
Would I really have to un-root my phone in order to update the Sprint Profile, or would installing a different ROM, perhaps one which allows for updating of profiles and PRLs fix my issue?
Thanks for the help
Flashing any other ICS ROM should have the option to update profile/prl
You'll need to update your boot to 1.58 for ICS ROMs to boot.

Thanks, that worked perfectly! I just installed the latest version of MeanROM (seemed to be a very popular one) and was able to update my profile no problem. Now I have 3G, thanks again!

How to downgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.3 unlocked

I'm currently running SR Remix KitKat and I'm tired of the bugs so I want to go back to 4.3. I've tried simply doing a full wipe and factory reset then installing SR 4.3 v3.1 but it just loops the boot animation endlessly. I've tried using both TWRP and Philz Touch recovery. After restoring my 4.4.2 backup all is working but I'm back to square one. Before I set about using Odin to flash back to 4.1.2 I would like to make sure I'm not wasting my time
UPDATE:
So I decided to try odining back to 4.1.2 and after unlocking with casual everything was working until I tried updating to SR Remix 3.1. This doesn't make sense because that's where I was when first updating to SR Remix. I have one last thought. When first updating to MJ9 I started with the "Beans Official" release. Maybe I'll try that before giving up.
UPDATE 2:
Well that's very strange, I used the Beanstown official stock release then installed SR and got it working. I wonder what's missing from Sophisticated ROM that is keeping it from working.
