.58 fw/baseband and below can be rooted by zergrush
firmware below .62
if you don't want to downgrade or unlock BL to get root, just check -before buyin- the build number of the phone you want to buy, and be sure its below .62

No. you dont have to. if @Jsenny really want to rot your phone you always can downgrade it to .58 and root and then upgrade. you dont necessarily have to buy a phone that has a older f/w. you can always downgrade

if SE give us ICS update, then we come back to xda and there is solution(flashtool, wotan, zip, img) method to flash ICS with any bootloader condition.

Does it update at the same time in different countries?and...What about st15i?
can anyone confirm that?
have anyone received ICS official update in your sony ericsson?
updates are region dependent. about ST15, i can't check because i unlocked bootloader and running CM7.

No... That is firmware version. Not android version.
LOL... No ICS update I only got .62 firmware version
I also got upgrade prompt to .62, not ICS, but I don't want to upgrade cos' it will break my root.
Is there any way to get rid of the stupid notification?
Fota update will not break your root access.

Got notified of the update, too.
My phone told me I couldn't update over the air so I had to do it via PC Companion. This did in fact break my root.

Hello
I started this thread for the people who have unlocked their bootloader or their carrier won't allow the ics update(like me )
So... When the official update is out can someone create a ftf file for us to feed our lovely phone?
Tnx.

Wrong Thread..!
And obviously someone will upload the ftf coz most of us here have unlocked bootloaders .

Why wouldn't carrier allow the update? And how you know it?
Also, bootloader can be relocked/restored.

I unlocked by unlocking software which I paid for (I paid for network unlock, it bootloader unlocked optionally) and Sony says both PCC and SEUS would not work. WRONG! SEUS still works for me, I've used it about 3 times. Have you tried SEUS?

If ya downgrade for the same customization as yo originally had, you won't lose warranty, otherwise you will lose. But that's a stupid question cause if ya root your phone, you will lose warranty. But you can get it back by flashing your original firmware (with your original customization)
Is there some way to root without downgrade?

Unlock bootloader and flash another kernal or downgrade.
They're your only options.
