THIS ISNT A WHO's BETTER THIS IS A WHICH DO YOU PERFER AND WHY THREAD
Example:
I use AOKP Because I like the speeds that I get with it the fact that it's a more minimalistic rom and that fact that it has a very nice GUI to accompany it however, CM9 also holds a spot in my heart because I do like many of the features that Cyanogen Mod comes out with, that are sometimes delay pushed into AOKP due to stability checks.
Which do you perfer AOKP or CM9
AOKP Pro: Sleek, Fast, Large User Group to help bug resolve, Nice GUI, Hilarious Thread posts. Compatible with NEAK kernel.
AOKP Con: 2 Con's atm. Dialing on dial pad creates a very bizzar vibration bug in my device not others and google play is still having purchase bug's however I believe that is just my gapps
CM9 Pros: large dev crew, very speedy development, Nightly Builds if you wanna see whats going on, Cutting edge coding, very few bugs on stable releases.
CM9 Cons: Flashing Addicts HEROINE :|, Leaves more to the user to design and set up rather then a flash and go kinda rom.
Give your feedback, Why you chose the one you use.
Pro's / Con's

I am simply trying to get the other-side of the spectrum

I'm currently on ICScrewed 2.1 right now but i'm considering upgrading my phone to
ICS roms. However, there are two major choices right now: CM9 and AOSP
what is the difference between these two setup?
What exactly is the advantage of CM9 over AOSP or the other way around?
Are there any bugs that exist in these Roms?
just wanna clarify things a little bit

Look in ported development forum and check the respective Roms thread. Then READ them both so YOU can make a better decision of whats right for YOU.
CM9 is an AOSP ROM

I recommend the AOKP build by Fenny in Ported Development. I love the rom and have been getting great battery life. I mostly use my phone for email, text and social networking and have no complaints nor have found any bugs.
I've tried them both. CM9 is easier, AOKP has more stuff. Best to look at the threads if you want to know how it matters for what you care about.
They are both very similar and you will be fine with either.
why has this q been in the general all day? red your starting to slack a bit haha im just kidding. its saturday woo hoo!
Things aren't quite ready yet... give it another day or two, the floodgates will open soon.
I've been on fennys aokp all day and I'm loving it. Just video recorder doesn't work and right now I'm just trying to figure out how to get pics to save to external memory . But its super fast and the features are awesome especially the ocing and uving built in. I've been playing with face unlock it fun. Camera is better and faster than gb.
Haven't tried cm9

D/Ling the lastest CM9 now give it a try
Hands down no questions asked I gave been up and down both rims and aokp is better a lot more features and settings

Hi. first of all I just want to say that I'm a big admirer of XDA forums I've been following the forums for quite some time on various phones but I'm not very active in posts / replies due to my inexperience.
I'm sick of AT&T taking forever to give us ICS and I'm not willing to wait just to get a whole bunch of bloatware and the same old touchwiz. I've come across two good roms: Onlyone and Objection. I'm kind of leaning towards Objection because It's giving me two UI options: Android 4 and the new Touchwiz, but from the replies I got the impression that Onlyone is more stable. Are there any ROMS that use the official ICS code released by Samsung or not yet?
Here are my main concerns: battery life, ROM stability and speed, and of course the good additions like updated touchwiz, S-voice, etc.
Try them all and see which you like best. Nobody can tell you which is best, because that is purely opinion based. There aren't that many, so just learn how to use titanium backup so switching between roms doesn't take too long.

If you prefer the unmodified, pure Android experience that you would get on a Nexus device, you can come close with a CyanogenMod based ROM. These are my personal favorites as they are practically bloat-free and don't have any carrier/manufacturer customizations. The downside on the Note is that there is no S-Note/S-Memo. Hopefully the CM devs will get these apps to work eventually, but the S-Pen does work.
If you like the TouchWiz interface then try one of the TW/ICS leak based ROMs such as OnlyOne. That was the first ICS ROM I tried and I liked it, but overall I prefer CM9.
you can try those ROMs from this guy - flappjaxxx. They are the unofficial CM9 ROM and UCLE2 stock-base ROM. They are really solid, stable, daily drivers and supported well by the awesome developer. These roms get very good comments from XDA-users.
I've tried every single rom.
for CM9- I'd use Mesosphere the rest were pretty unstable.
For Ucle2 + S-pen functionality i'd use FJ's Build. Onlyone was laggy for me.

That being said I am a big fan of flappjaxxx's UCLE2 rom.
My recommendation is to go with the Unofficial build of CM9 by h0tw1r3.
Nothing beats the cleanliness of AOSP, and the added features that Cyanogen throws in are well worth it.
I have been running it since he released the first build and it is extremely stable. And thanks to CalcProgrammer1, it was just updated and we may even see nightly builds.

I thought the hivemind was in favor of CyanogenMod. At least, that is the preference I've generally seen. I haven't tried AOKP though, so I'm looking forward to trying it.
So far, yes. But, keep in mind aosp is still in very early development.

In terms of finished aosp, AOKP IS way better than CM9 . More features, way more. Aokp is stable as cm is. I know since im on the nexus but as a finished product the aokp will be the favorite, youll see. But i guess since aosp is early on this device you think cm is better cause of its name and past success. I think they failed at CM9.. they were really slow with deving and features

Cool.. I didn't say anything about this device.. My preference has nothing to do with Devin's AOKP build. I am just referring to past devices and experiences. I know AOSP is brand new to Rezound and I am not putting down anybody's work.

lol.. yeah the Unicorns are a little too much and agree with Joel on the features that I haven't used and probably will never use.
I don't get the AOKP hate.
1) Unicorns you can ignore them. Change the bootanimation.zip. The rest of them you never see until you change your wallpaper. You can even delete it all from the ROM.zip if you want.
2) Extra features- you don't have to use them. Having the code in them doesn't slow the ROM down or affect you. If you don't open ROM Control, you never see them.

I prefer AOKP, though I have a special place in my heart for CM. Its really funny actually. Last year at this time exactly my Droid 2 got cm7 and my Rezound has AOKP and CM9 at the same time a year later. I run AOKP because I'm a tweak *****, but I do really like CM's no BS no frills attitude. I'm mainly running aokp because I've never tried it before. Aside from heating and the usual issues, I've been pretty happy. Soft keys are buggy though.

Unicorns
The additional features of AOKP can be enticing but they tend to come at the expense of battery life and overall smoothness when compared to CM9. I've yet to run either on my rezound but that was my general experience on other devices.
Furthermore, unicorns are mythical creatures devoid of genitalia that transcend the petty realm of sexuality. See Donnie Darko's explanation of smurfs for further reference.

Cool thanks guys
There is no "best" ROM. Every ROM is great, as we have some rockin' awesome devs. It just boils down to preference.
Sense based:
Software designed for our hardware, less bugs, not many features, but things just.... Work.... You want to stay sense but want a metric S*** ton of features? Try Viper DNA, if you want a little less features, try NOS.
AOSP based:
Made for all iterations of Android devices, more prone to bugs, limited by software (I noticed AOSP camera compared to Sense on this device is a joke IMO, as Sense camera is MADE for this brand of phone, AOSP is made for a plethora of devices). You get nice features with no loss of performance (to a degree). With AOSP you get that Stock Android feel Google intends without OEM putting their skin on top of it.
It really boils down to the features you want, and the way you want your phone to act. Some Roms fly, some don't. It all is just the nature of the beast. Best to try a few out, just be sure to search that ROM's thread for any bugs, reviews, and features.

ABFP (Android Bug Free Project). Just kidding. Anyway, Sense ROMs definitely have the least bugs, but the AOSP ROMs are pretty good too, mostly everything works. I suggest you give the Google Play Edition ROM a try though, It's got all the benefits of being a sense-based ROM but it feels like pure AOSP. It doesn't have all the cool features of the real AOSP ROMs though.

My answer to this question is simple.. Though there are many great roms based on AOSP, they are all based on the CM 10.2 source.. For me, there are still too many bugs that I consider to be showstoppers ... I love AOSP and always will.. but I've been running Sense 5 since Joelz released just the rom OP is asking about.. now I've moved to Venom since I'm a tester and it frankly just works. Battery life is good, performance.. etc. It's all there.. I think there is a strange issue with Skype, but I don't use it.. those that do I feel bad, especially those that use it for phone calls, Venom will fix it.. just in time. :good: ... But honestly, this question can't be answered by anyone but you. Flash all the roms available, give them 3 days each.. operate like you normally do on your phone and see.. Really the only way.. But the most 'bug fee' will always be on Sense based roms.. :highfive:

You've been around long enough to know comparing the efforts of developers isn't good form on these boards. We're lucky that we have several devs working on projects that have come a long way. Unfortunately, all of the current JB and KK ROMs have some type of issue, mostly involving Bluetooth and portable hotspot tethering. At the moment I'd say the PACman ROM is closest to being ready. Followed closely by evervolv. I haven't tried MIUI yet, but the reactions in that thread have been very positive. Of course you could also try one of the CM ROMs which many have been using as daily drivers for awhile. Read the threads, see which ones have issues that would negatively affect you the most, then try the one that suits your needs the best.
Well yes I know what you're on about, I know about the developers putting in enormous amounts of efforts in the roms but the point was to highlight ics roms or those based on it seem to be bug free, I could use something like that myself to come up with a rom myself

Your first post asked about JB, this one about ICS. Two different animals. On ICS we have many great fully functioning stable ROMs it boils down to the level of bloat you want removed for you, the theming, and the amount of tweaking and optimization. The leanest one that still maintains a fully functional sense is the one I'm using the Energy ROM, however, it's dated and the dev indicated last week that he'd be updating soon. SuperAfnan has a couple of outstanding ROMs both themed and stock. The ARHD ROM was updated yesterday and is totally stock with tweaks, it's probably the closest to the stock factory ROM. Then if you can live with a few minor bugs involving Bluetooth and tethering, the Viper Amaze is one of the most heavily tweaked, optimized, and full featured ROMs for our device, and it's sense 4 not 3.6 like the rest. I hope this helps.
Yes I'm on the energy one too tried nearly all of them but came back to this one. Somehow the amaze doesn't feel that smooth with either of the jellybean roms, which would you suggest for 4.1.2?

ROM comparison threads are not allowed. You need to test them out and find one that works for you by yourself. Please read the threads instead of asking because ROMS are subjective.
Please do not take developer work for granted.
As @Odysseus1962 stated there's so l many to choose from and he has already provided you with information so please just read the ROM threads. I'll give you a hint, there's a "broken" / "not working" section on the ROM threads so you can find bugs accordingly. Ones without it are usually more-or-less problem free.
