So, my questions is: can I use flash image GUI to flash this rom with out any problems? I'm on HBoot 1.5 S On and can I flash the boot img also using Flash Image GUI? appreciate you're feed back thank you in advance.
Yes you can, but it would be easier to just use 4ext recovery which has smartflash. The recovery still flashes the kernel even though you are s-on. I'm currently using it. It's worth the money

yes I know what your talking about the problem is I cant boot into anything. I can't see any images on my phone it's on a boot loop in other words.
Ok then what you need to do is take your sd card and plug it into your pc next the your going to copy that zip file meaning the Rom you have flashed to your EVO and you will extract it then you will see it create a folder next open that folder and scroll down you will see the boot.IMG next you will copy it to the same folder that you have your fastboot drivers in next open cms and typ what ever commands you normally typ to get your fastboot drivers working and then of you know to put the EVO in hboot and connect the USB cable and then press power you should now see fastboot USB on your EVO next on your pc in cmd typ fastboot flash boot boot.IMG this will flash your boot.IMG this is why it want boot next typ fastboot reboot and it should boot up let me know how it works out I'm tired

My phone is already rooted I'm running 1.5 HBOOt Security On Twrp 1.0.3 but hoping when I get this boot img to work for me from cmd promt will get me going again. it's getting annoying that the commands are not working for me. I also been following Max from Htcevohacks and watching what he does and going on youtube to learn about command prompt etc has been a learning experience which, I like. I just don't like the fact its not working for me atm.

i've spent so much time looking up a fix of some sort but havent found any luck, would anyone be kind enough to give me some tips/help on this?
i want to eventually flash miui onto it cause i just naturally dont like stock roms for any phone really and ive found miui to be the best for me simply because of how they've layed stuff out on it
my is rooted too btw, and i've had no success flashing a custom recovery cause of a verify signature fail or something like that, im guessing cause S-ON is still well, ON lol
thanks heaps to anyone who can manage to help me out of this
unlocking bootloader
ths is where you need to start open cmd and typ fastboot get identifiertoken then it will display the token then you will copy and past into htc dev and then submit if you copyed it correctly you will get a confermation and the email will be sent you the next step open the email and download the unlock code and place it in the same folder that you have fastboot and adb in next step open cmd and typ fastboot flash unlock token unlock_code.ben now look at your evo and it should say unlock bootloader press volume up for yes and then press the power button and this will also reset the evo dont worry after this you will need to install a custom recovery i suggest 4ext for that on your evo open up your web browser and typ 4ext.net and then head over http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22494488

i've already gone through that process in order to unlock the bootloader before, then i relocked it, and using the same Unlock_code.bin file I used to unlock it before, it won't unlock, should I go through the whole process from htcdev again?
You can flash the Rom of your choice but there is one very emportant thing and that is you have to flash a custom recovery check this web site out 4ext.net this is the best recovery and its easy to install you can download it using the web browser on your phone

Thanks jslim, got it unlocked now, as usual it hung on sending unlocktoken, I left it for awhile and it eventually went through
So u suggest I downgrade now if possible?
Also, if u don't mind, I have another problem,
I've tried to flash three different gsm roms since unlocking, AOKP, which hung on the HTC logo, then after restoring, miui 2.24.40 or something like that, which got past the HTC logo but, hung on the boot image, restored again and tried e3d light, which also qot stuck on the HTC logo, at present I'm still running stock
Any ideas?

Sent From my EVO 3D x515m S off using xda premium
Ok the Rom you have flashed has lost its boot.IMG what you need to do next is go to you desktop or laptop and xtract that zip the file and when its done you need to open the xtracted folder and scroll down and you will see boot.IMG next you will copy it to the same folder that contains your adb and fastboot when that is done open cmd and type for example on my laptop I would type cd\rootevo3dnew press enter now my fastboot cmd is working next I would type fastboot flash boot boot.IMG and this will flash your boot.IMG but before you do this make sure the EVO is booted in bootloader and then conect your USB cable and tap the power button you should now see fastboot USB on your EVO now back to your desktop or laptop when you type the commands as I stated above whatch your EVO boot up and your up and running enjoy your EVO and when your ready to down grade your hboot I can help with that also

Ok this next step involves changing your cid number I need to are you familiar with that process and your not its ok I will show you what you need to typ now go ahead and connect your USB cable and boot in to fastboot when that's done open cmd and yes get your fastboot cmd working and next type fastboot getvar cid this will display your cid number and you will need to write it down this is your original cid number next don't close cmd next your going to typ fastboot write OEM cid VODAP001 press enter and it will writ your new cid number when its done you want to confirm that your cid number has changed so next you will typ fastboot getvar cid if it shows VODAP__001 then thats your new cid number let me know how it works out and we will start the next step

Ok so I've searched a few different times now and gotten nowhere. Every time I try to flash a rom outside of the stock miui I get boot loops from it or it stays at the splash screen which has been stuck on the ICS one. I've tried wiping everything super wipes w/e you name it. Just won't let me flash any rom's. Should I return to stock and re-root? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
flashing
are you gsm or cdma and do you have s on or s off
cdma sprint with S-off 1.4 H-boot Twrp touch recovery. Tried super wipe and wiping cache and data n system more times than I can count.
Sounds like you've lost your boot.IMG if thats the case you have to xtract it from the zip file on your pc or laptop and when your done xtracting open up the folder and scroll down and you will see your boot.IMG now copy and past into the same folder that you have fastboot and adb in next boot the device into bootloader now connect your USB cable and next press power you should now be in fastboot USB next on your pc or laptop open cmd and typ cd\and what ever you use to get your fastboot program working for example I would typ cd\rootevo3dnew and my fastboot cmd is active and now I typ fastboot flash boot boot.IMG now press enter this should get your EVO to boot let me know how it works out

So just to not screw this up take whatever ROM I want to flash extract the boot.img, flash it through fastboot adb comands then that should fix it? I didn't think boot.img's could hold up the entire rom. I'll try that. n see what happens.

I must be typing the fastboot commands wrong or something. Feeling pretty stupid heh.. again I appreciate the help.
may have fixed it using root explorer n just copied the boot animation to the spot in system media. Thanks a million for the help dude!
I picked up a 3d last night used for a great price. I got it activated on my account and it works pretty well. I want root it now and start playing with roms. I looked up the hboot and it's 1.5.000 but it says relocked. Doing some research i'm finding it means the device was rooted at one time and then unrooted, is that correct? Or is it in like a partial root because I still have s-on. And while were here any preferences for a good stable ics rom with everything working? If everything works but 4g that would be ok too. Thanks
Edit: It's a cdma phone.

First step head over to HTC dev and sign up and unlock your bootloader and once your successful at unlocking your bootloader next you will install a custom recovery and then install the Su files this will give you root access and when this is done you may want to do a backup before flashing a rom this way if something go's wrong you can do a system restore from your backup

Thanks. Here is where I'm at now. I'm using the htc unlocker and I've made it towards the end of the process. Had a few little hiccups along the way, nothing major or frustrating. Just a little learning. I am however stuck at the part where you are trying to get the code out of your phone. It says waiting for device and then doesn't go anywhere from there. But i'm not getting any errors. My phone is in fastboot usb so I know it's connected at least. I tried googling and youtube with no answers. My phone is a evo 3d with the 1.50 hboot. Thanks.

I seem to be stuck in the bootloader.
This is what happened. Was running Bootloader 1.4 S-OFF via Revolutionary, tried updating Firmware following this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1808150
Downloaded Stock Firmware zip put it on my MicroSD card, rebooted the phone into Bootloader ran the update. Rebooted phone after the update into the bootloader and now it keeps loading up the update and says "Do you want to Start Update?"
So now I'm unable to get into recovery to flash a new ROM as I'm having bootloops.
Best is if you have an alternate micro sd card reader on a computer. Pull the sd, Change the pgm86 file to a different name, address any other files you need such as a rom, then replace.

I'm unable to start it normally because of bootloops unfortunately. So currently the only thing I can access seems to be the Bootloader which is instantly asking me to update, or reboot.

You have to install the kernel separately when you're S-on. You can do this in fastboot. Just take the boot.img from the ROM you're flashing and put it in your ADB tools folder. Using fastboot, use the command 'fastboot flash boot boot.img'.

HTC 4G LTE S-Off and still cant load roms
Just completed the dirty racun install and now have s-off. I have tried 2 roms cynanogen 10.0 stable and jellybam 7.6.2. On cyanogen, I get just as far as with the s-on. Just the logo. With the jellybam, it seemed to install, loaded the apps that was earlier on the phone using the mean bean that was restored earlier. Anyone know of a reason why the custom roms wont install?
