Stuck in Bootloader - HTC EVO 3D

I seem to be stuck in the bootloader.
This is what happened. Was running Bootloader 1.4 S-OFF via Revolutionary, tried updating Firmware following this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1808150
Downloaded Stock Firmware zip put it on my MicroSD card, rebooted the phone into Bootloader ran the update. Rebooted phone after the update into the bootloader and now it keeps loading up the update and says "Do you want to Start Update?"
So now I'm unable to get into recovery to flash a new ROM as I'm having bootloops.

Best is if you have an alternate micro sd card reader on a computer. Pull the sd, Change the pgm86 file to a different name, address any other files you need such as a rom, then replace.

Ya, this is what I figured I would need to do. Is there any other alternatives to this?

Take out the battery and put it back in and restart your phone normally or don't reboot, boot into recovery after firmware flash and reboot from recovery

I'm unable to start it normally because of bootloops unfortunately. So currently the only thing I can access seems to be the Bootloader which is instantly asking me to update, or reboot.

If you hit volume down, it should cancel the update, then you can reboot into recovery

Can I ask are you gsm or cdma? I believe cdma so atleast you haven't flashed the wrong firmware

Pop out the sd and remount it after you go into recovery? assuming u have it available...
if not, take out the card, use fastboot from the computer to boot a recovery image and proceed from there?

Need help to get root

I got my Evo 3d off Craigslist this morning and i love it. Traded my Evo 4g plus cash for it and i couldnt be happier. I was very successful in rooting the 4g amd never had any problems that i can think of and im hoping the same goes for the 3d.
Anyways ive been reading and reading on how to root it, get s-off so i can install a recovery and them flash a rom and kernel. Ive managed to confuse myself because it seems that if you root it one way, you may not be able tp fash custom kernels and if you use another method to root it, your more than like to have all sorts of problems.
Basicall i need help and if someone could post a link to show me best method on how to root, s-off, install custom recovery, and install a rom on the 3d it would be greatly appreciated.
I have Sprint (cdma) Android 2.3.4. Software # 2.08.651.2 hboot 1.5, baseband 0.97.10.0808

I ended up goin a different route by using the HTC unlcock bootloader and that was suscessful. I still have s on and I think I'm gonna keep it that way for now but I need to install a custom recovery.
I've tried setting up sdk all morning and can't get the cmd to recognize adbas an interal or external command. Not sure what exactly it is that in doing wrong.
I wanting to know if there'sa way to install my first custom recovery thru the bootloader in my phone without using my computer so I can flash the su.zip and get this thing rooted. Thanks

The twrp recovery has a method to flash that recovery without a computer by downloading it as a zip and naming it properly. See their site for detail.
I still recommend s-off since it is easier to flash Roms and the ics Roms tend to bootloop with s-on.

I dowloaded and renamed it to PC86100IMG.zip then went to bootloader, it read the zip but said "update fail, main version older!" Have any idea as to why its saying that?

I was finally able to get adb recognized but when I type adb reboot bootloader it gets into the bootloader just fine but when i type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img it "fastboot is not recognized as an internal or external demand"
I'm using jtniggles unlock hboot 1.5, twrp recovery, root ,flash

It looks like you renamed it to the wrong thing. If you downloaded TWRP 2.2.0 zip, it must be renamed PG86IMG.zip on the root of the sd card. Then when you update in bootloader, it should work.

Hmmm... Does your phone boot? If so, you could download 4ext (see my signature) and install their app. Then it will push the custom recovery for you. I use 4ext myself anyway.
I tried using their app already and it won't let me since I don't have root

Just wanted to give you a thanks again for all your help. I was finally able to figure out why adb wasn't working. Once thaat was fixed, I installed twrp recovery and flashed Su.then did the wire trick which me VERY nervous but it worked and got S-Off after a couple tries and I then installed 4ext recovery from which I understand is the best recovery available. Thanks again!

Soft Bricked My Rezound I'm CLUELESS!!

I managed to soft brick my phone or i believe so. I unlocked the bootloader, flashed cwm to the phone, rooted then read that it fails alot with the rezound so i prepped my phone to unroot and remove cwm and install Amon Ra and nodded off to sleep while in the recovery menu... This is where it gets weird... I woke up to my phone like this. I uploaded a picture of the bootloader screen... Its relocked and will not allow me to do jack... Im not the best at development and relatively inexperienced... I desperately need help. Please.
Well you have hboot so its not bricked. I would pull the battery and then make sure you don't have a ph98img.zip in root of sd. Then put battery back in and see what happens.

Do you have HTC sync installed?
Have you tried to download a complete RUU in PH98IMG.zip form and see if it will install from the bootloader?
Here is a link...
Flash ruu of your choosing then use the toolbox to install amon ra. When in doubt use ruu to get back to square one. I have had to do it a few times lol.

I've downloaded HTC sync and it's fully updated. I downloaded the 4.0.3.xxxx ph98img.zip from I can't remember where and tried throwing it onto my sd card but when I booted the phone I to hboot it did nothing. I'll try again if someone can guide me through it. And this is my fault for thinking after being out of the tech loop for years that I could jump back in and do a full root and rom flash without much more extensive research. I found out what happened also. My gf was trying to get the phone to turn on and couldn't figure out what was happening and turned out she was playing with the volume rocker and power button. So god knows she may have wiped everything from the inside out...

Not going to pull any punches. 1st off; learn your fastboot commands hassoon's toolkit is for ease of use. 2nd; You were almost there. 3rd; When trying to use fastboot/adb, make sure HTC sync isn't running in the background.

Have it named PH98IMG.zip(watch your filenames, be careful not to name it PH98IMG.zip.zip). But first try reunlocking again and see if you get boot. If you at least get boot animation that tells me you have a working boot partition. If not then you would need to reflash a boot.img. If you are adamant about gaining root, you could have just flashed a custom rom after flashing Amon RA + a data wipe along with proper boot.img in fastboot.

Simple steps I used when I was in an HTC boot loop.
1. Relocked and installed the stock ruu.
2. Unlocked and flashed the recovery partition using fast boot flash recovery recovery.img (name of your recovery image you want to use.)
3. Used recovery to install su.
4. Profit.
You can also use fast boot to install asop boot images. But for now if you want root use steps 1-4. It worked for me when I borked the heck out of entire phone. ( I had no recovery even after fastboot flashing the recovery partition.)

What should be done if i'm stuck at re-locked bootloader, S-ON, download mode screen, unable to lock-unlock bootloader nor able to flash RUU ? Even the unbrick tool at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=183353 doesn't detect my phone.

Boot Loop on all roms Virgin Mobile H-boot 1.58

Hello,
I am stuck in a constant boot loop with every rom I flash. I am able to get into the stock restore menu (volume down + power) and from there boot into TWRP 1.1.1. Flashing JmzStock_VM_Shooter_Odex doesn't work as well as any custom roms. Also, RUU doesnt work either, it gets stuck on the HTC logo (silver with blackground) but the RUU fails. It just says unknown error.
It is Unlocked (or at least thats what it says in pink in ShooterXC) and is says S-ON.
Any help would be so lovely!!
You won't be able to run the ruu unless you get s off.
Are you wiping system and boot before you flash?
You may want to try flashing a boot img through fastboot

Flashing the boot.img from your currently installed ROM fixes 90% of bootloops. It is definitely the way to fix.

[Q] HTC Amaze (Asian) soft bricked

I have HTC Amaze 4G Asian version s-on unlocked. A few days back, I put my mobile on charging. Suddenly I saw it was restarted and then stuck on htc logo. After waiting some time, I plugged the battery out and put on charging again. After a couple of hours, I tried to turn it on but it did not. After making some attempts, I came to know that the battery had been damaged. I bought a new battery and tried to switch on the mobile. This time, the mobile turned on but stuck at htc logo. I went to bootscreen and tried to run 4EXT recovery but the recovery did not open. I tried to reinstall recovery with All-in-one-toolkit but failed.
Then I tried to flash ph85img.zip but it did not work. I tried Mainver Error Fix with AIO toolkit but it did not work. I tried to relock my mobile with AIO toolkit but it was also unable to find the device (driver has successfully been installed and tested).
Now I am worried because I am not able to recover my phone with any of the ways I know. I have also tried HTC Amaze Unbrick Project in UBUNTU but it was not able to detect any bricked device.
The mobile now turns on but does not go beyond htc logo. By pressing volume down + power key, it goes to HBOOT and BOOTLOADER but cannot load RUU flash or recovery.
Please help me how to recover it and make it working.
Hello..
1st of all your Mobile is not hard bricked so you may not try that unbrick project now.
2nd thing I am pretty sure that you're following all steps on that stuck screen.
But to use that AIO tool you must be in bootloader or fastboot to execute their commands.
3rd
To flash that RUU , the file must be on external SD card.
So conclusion is that restart your phone in bootloader/fastboot then try to flash that 4ext recovery.
And then flash gb Rom because you're s -on and having Asian amaze so there is no chance that you have ics Rom.
Download that gb Rom from Asian guide of aj to upgrade amaze in general section. And flash it through 4ext.
Hit that thanks button if I helped you

Rename your file to PH85IMG.zip and place it on your sdcard.
Some times what happens.. That when you rename that file then the file name may like ph85img.zip.zip due to hidden extension in Windows.
So make sure that it's only ph85img.zip not ph85img.zip.zip..
And try again..

I had the same problem first flash 4ext recovery then, use the amaze toolkit and click flash rom it should take you to a hidden section of the phone that will show a black screen and blue htc logo on the screen, you should at the very least be able to go into recovery turn on smart flash and then re flash the rom so everything goes through

If I am using 4EXT Recovery and I enable SmartFlash, will I be able to flash the ICS RUU on the HTC Amaze International version?

Thank you very much. I was able to flash recovery and 4ext is now loading. However, when I go to bootloader > recovery, it loads 4ext and then 4ext always shows "preparing for boot". After sometime, 4ext restarts the cellphone and its keeps on restarting again and again. I am not able to enter into 4ext menu. Will you suggest some solution to it please?
