So if I update twrp2.5 to 2.6 using bootloader method after I do install it isn't going to let be boot phone only to bootloader correct? Because of the img file I will put on SD card. So before I do this I just want to make sure all I do after update is complete pull SD card an then boot to rom re install SD card an delete?? Or is there a easier way

You can reboot your phone once you're done and delete the file with a file manager. The only issue you'll have is if you reboot the bootloader.

Why not use GooManager? It will correctly install the Recovery Image for you. I can see that you want to push it via command but GooManager is excellent. Just another option, good luck. :good:

Sorry in advance if this had been covered before but there are so many different threads everywhere i don't know where to start. As of right now i'm running 1.50 s-on and have been attempting to use the HTC method to unlock the bootloader. I have no problems or errors at all til i get to i think it's step 13 or 14
sending 'unlocktoken' (0 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.152s]
writing 'unlocktoken'...
(bootloader) unlock token check successfully
OKAY [ 0.006s]
finished. total time: 0.159s
it appears that everything goes through but then nothing happens? my phone just stays in the same hboot screen. What am i doing wrong? thanks in advance and sorry again if this has been covered but i'm somewhat noob to rooting and am still trying to figure all of this out.....

You can download the ruu in the sticky on how to get back to stock. I had this same problem and that's how I got it fixed.

ok one last question? I'm at the shipped roms.com site and there are is a .zip and a .exe of the RUU. Which one should i DL? if it's the zip do i extract it to the rootevonew folder on my C: drive? And just so i'm clear i go into fastboot and while in fastboot i run the .exe on my comp? or do i put it in the root of my sd card? Sorry again for all the questions.....
Put your phone on fasboot usb .
Run RUU.EXE
And your set. It will take about 10 min to complete.
Realize that if you remove your USB while its updating your phone might end up bricked so be careful to not get it unplugged.

Right on thanks guys i finally got around to doing all this and it worked. One last question....Any advice on a particular ROM to flash? I was looking at the Nocturnal Adrenaline E3D 1.0.2 ODEX?? what do you guys think? Thanks again for all the help...
I'm currently running MeanRom 3.92. It's really good. Lots of features & easily over clockable on included ziggy kernel or Anthrax Rls8 Final. Also includes other options that get loaded onto sdcard for flashing.
I flashed leedroid Tweaks, & anthrax, clocked to 1.728Ghz. Stable, fast, quadrant average about 4k.
All up to your preference really, but some consider it a good idea to stick with 2.17 based roms if that's the radio base you have.

last thing you could try is to find one of the complete stock RUUs in ph98img.zip form and see if that will install.
I had that happen and it kept failing to install, throwing partition errors. Guessing all the flashing killed the nand memory. Verizon sent me a replacement overnight.

This happened to me when I failed to get S-OFF (I screwed up the wire trick terribly), and I was unable to recover. Once the battery died, the phone was done, since it needs software to use the charger. I was able to jury-rig my old DINC battery to try a few more times, but I ended up exchanging it, telling Verizon it just died and they accepted it as DOA. Of course I bricked it the same night FedEx delivered it so I was able to do a return w/out warranty issues being part of it.

Download that file. Rename it by removing the "TWRP-" in the file name and then place it on the root of your SD card. And reboot into hboot. If that does nothing I'll be shocked.
I got my Evo 3d off Craigslist this morning and i love it. Traded my Evo 4g plus cash for it and i couldnt be happier. I was very successful in rooting the 4g amd never had any problems that i can think of and im hoping the same goes for the 3d.
Anyways ive been reading and reading on how to root it, get s-off so i can install a recovery and them flash a rom and kernel. Ive managed to confuse myself because it seems that if you root it one way, you may not be able tp fash custom kernels and if you use another method to root it, your more than like to have all sorts of problems.
Basicall i need help and if someone could post a link to show me best method on how to root, s-off, install custom recovery, and install a rom on the 3d it would be greatly appreciated.

The twrp recovery has a method to flash that recovery without a computer by downloading it as a zip and naming it properly. See their site for detail.
I still recommend s-off since it is easier to flash Roms and the ics Roms tend to bootloop with s-on.

It looks like you renamed it to the wrong thing. If you downloaded TWRP 2.2.0 zip, it must be renamed PG86IMG.zip on the root of the sd card. Then when you update in bootloader, it should work.

Ok so I used to have a rezound with an unlocked bootloader and the ViperRez Rom installed on it. I upgraded to a Galaxy S3 and sold my Rezound. A week or so ago my S3 took a crap so I purchased another Rezound off Craigslist. I want to gain root again and install a stable Rom. Can someone point me toward a guide that can walk me through this? I wasn't sure if the guides I have been reading were for a rezound that was still running gingerbread or ics or if the guide would apply to a rezound that was running either one. Also, if anyone can recommend a very stable rom I could install that would be great. I'm also tempted to try the trick to gain s-off but I'm a lil afraid to do that. I read somewhere that a paperclip can be used in place of the wire. Is this true? If so, ill give it a shot. I know a lot of members hate posts like this so I apologize in advance. I don't wish to ruin ur day. I'm not looking for anyone to hold my through this just point me in the right direction for root instructions and recommend a good Rom. Thanks everyone!!!

The unlock process via the htcdev.com website is still the same. If you're just going to replace the factory rom, unlock your phone, flash a custom recovery (TWRP, Amon-Ra or CWM) then the rom of your choice.

For the recovery install, download the PH98IMG.zip attached to the post above, stick it on the root of your sd card, power off your phone, pull the battery and stick it back in, power the phone back up while holding the volume down button to get into the bootloader, press power again then volume up when prompted to install the recovery.img then reboot.
Remove the PH98IMG.zip image immediately from your sd card's root, download the rom of your choice, boot back into the bootloader using the process above then select recovery to get into Amon-Ra and install your rom.
The one issue you will have with being s-on is you need to flash your kernel using your pc via fastboot, you can reboot into the bootloader from Amon-Ra and flash the boot.img you extracted from the rom download zip.
fastboot flash boot path/to/boot.img
Enjoy.
Thank u! I think the kernal part is where i would have gotten screwed up. So I download the Rom of my choice and open the zip file, remove the boot.img, put it on the root of my sd card, and then do I flash the Rom first or the boot.img? Also I remember having issues doing this before where I kept being prompted to.install the boot.img in the bootloader screen. After I install the boot.img how do I remove it from my sd card so it will stop asking me if I want to install it? Thx again!!

Thx again!!

You put the boot.img on your PC so you can use ADB/fastboot to flash it to the phone.
You're confusing that with installing a kernel using a PH98IMG.zip file. That will get picked up anytime you boot into the bootloader if it's sitting on your SD card. You can remove those using a file manager app to access the SD card or plug into your pc and mount the SD card.

Ok gotcha. It's all coming back to me. Last question...here are the pics of the software information for my phone. Having looked at that, do I need to do anything else before I start rooting and flashing? I keep reading about making sure I'm on the right RUU before I start flashing and wut not. Am I good?

For ROMs... Highly recommend eclipticRez found in the development forum... The newest version. Runs super smooth and sense 4 goodness

Took ur advice and flashed that eclipticRez Rom. Glad I did. It's awesome. Good call on that. Did u choose Sense 4 in Aroma or a different launcher? I chose sense but I'm curious how the other launchers r.

I chose sense 4. Haven't tried the others but am curious about the others. Just too lazy to actually do something about it haha. I'm a fan of sense though
