Sorry in advance if this had been covered before but there are so many different threads everywhere i don't know where to start. As of right now i'm running 1.50 s-on and have been attempting to use the HTC method to unlock the bootloader. I have no problems or errors at all til i get to i think it's step 13 or 14
sending 'unlocktoken' (0 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.152s]
writing 'unlocktoken'...
(bootloader) unlock token check successfully
OKAY [ 0.006s]
finished. total time: 0.159s
it appears that everything goes through but then nothing happens? my phone just stays in the same hboot screen. What am i doing wrong? thanks in advance and sorry again if this has been covered but i'm somewhat noob to rooting and am still trying to figure all of this out.....
If your cdma you need to run the latest ruu 2.17 ruu exe . Once done then apply the unlock code your set.

You can download the ruu in the sticky on how to get back to stock. I had this same problem and that's how I got it fixed.

ok one last question? I'm at the shipped roms.com site and there are is a .zip and a .exe of the RUU. Which one should i DL? if it's the zip do i extract it to the rootevonew folder on my C: drive? And just so i'm clear i go into fastboot and while in fastboot i run the .exe on my comp? or do i put it in the root of my sd card? Sorry again for all the questions.....
Put your phone on fasboot usb .
Run RUU.EXE
And your set. It will take about 10 min to complete.
Realize that if you remove your USB while its updating your phone might end up bricked so be careful to not get it unplugged.

Right on thanks guys i finally got around to doing all this and it worked. One last question....Any advice on a particular ROM to flash? I was looking at the Nocturnal Adrenaline E3D 1.0.2 ODEX?? what do you guys think? Thanks again for all the help...
I'm currently running MeanRom 3.92. It's really good. Lots of features & easily over clockable on included ziggy kernel or Anthrax Rls8 Final. Also includes other options that get loaded onto sdcard for flashing.
I flashed leedroid Tweaks, & anthrax, clocked to 1.728Ghz. Stable, fast, quadrant average about 4k.
All up to your preference really, but some consider it a good idea to stick with 2.17 based roms if that's the radio base you have.

Ok i got 4ext recovery and am trying to figure it all out, I read the thread on 4ext but I'm totally confused. I download the rom, put it on the root of my sd

it works the same as any other recovery, but when you choose the zip to install, a menu will pop up asking you what to do prior to the flash, that is where you do all your wiping...enjoy

Sorry, newb here!
So I'm a lil confused about hboot 1.5 :
Can I flash Roms using Flash Image GUI? Any?
And how?
When do i need to use fastboot?
I don't want to use my pc at all, or the less possible tbh.

You can flash roms using a computer with no issues lol using fastboot boot recovery.img in hboot with ADB.. You have to put a copy of your recovery.img in your adb folder for this method to work not hard at all.
You can use flash GUI to flash kernels and flash the rom in recovery .... You may wanna read up on the guy that made the app he has instructions...
I have used the app in the past not a bad thing to have... Tho I prefer using the computer always a one stop shop for me

Yeah but i travel a lot and don't have time to use my laptop, thanks anyways! Didn't know that!

Just download from the market the Flash GUI app and you can flash any boot.img (kernel) first and then flash the ROM and you should be all set.
Yes, if you travel alot then Flash Image GUI would be for you.
the pg86100 is the htc evo 3d if i am not mistaken and i have one and have hboot 1.5 also, i see you have boot manager listed as one of your apps. you can use this app as well with hboot 1.5 and still flash your heart away just make sure you unlock the bootloader via HTC's method and have root access and youll be good to go
Thanks guys, another question, whats the best recovery for hboot 1.5?
thats is all what you like to use... i personally use the clockworkmod recovery version 4.0.1.4

i know with my evo 3d you can flash and rom from the recovery ... you just save the rom in its zip format to your sdcard and when in recovery mode that i use i just select " install zip from sdcard" and guide it to said rom then once selected it will begin an install process... now keep in mind that if your info is not backed up you will lose it... and you can still use the kernel that comes with the rom to flash it is just the same... it should be in the boot.img area of the rom you saved

It's essentially a snapshot of your current phone. In case that new kernel or rom put you in a bootloop or you wanna revert back.

Okay so a major ROADBLOCK I run into when relocking my bootloader is having custom roms and recovery images installed while attempting to "fastboot oem lock" (thus resulting in the "***security warning***" which for some reason locks your phone). Okay now there are two ways you can get out of this.
1. You can "fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_token.bin" (with your unlock token in the same directory of course)
NOW THE REAL REASON FOR THIS POST:
In order to do the HTC Hboot Downgrade process, a part of this is being COMPLETELY STOCK, recovery included. For linux/mac users, RUUs cant be run, therefore, you have to find an alternative method. So, in the attachments I have included the stock recovery, download it, extract it to your desktop and transfer it to the root of your SDcard. Now use joeykrim's Flash Image GUI app to flash the recovery and vuala, you now have stock recovery.
To test (if you are on stock ROM)
Optional: download 2.08 rooted Rom
1. Flash 2.08
2. GO to settings>system updates and choose HTC software update
3. There should be a message about the 2.08 update needed
4. Download it
5. Run it
6. IF your recovery flash was successful, the 2.08 update should work and you should not get an error message in recovery (which is what you would get on a custom recovery)
If this is in the wrong forum section, I apologize and have no issues with it being moved
What hboot are you going off of? If you have the ruu exe and you relock your phone as soon as it relocks it wipes the old recovery works on hboot 1.5 your back to stock . All you need to do is run the ruu your set.
If you are already S off you shouldn't have any issues downgrading things
Anyway good instructions

The only difference is you have to flash the boot.img file either before or after you flash the zip, and you have to do that via the gui program in apps or whatever, or via fastboot.

Why not use GooManager? It will correctly install the Recovery Image for you. I can see that you want to push it via command but GooManager is excellent. Just another option, good luck. :good:
