Voltage control is free I believe. You should also be able to find a free version of SetCPU here on XDA.

if you can get setcpu for free, do it. Its much better than nofrills. You can also under/over volt and set up profiles.

OK, but my ram is up to 560mb...I don't understand, why???
That's normal for the S3, touchwiz uses a lot of ram. Don't worry about it.

You can try removing some Samsung bloat from your rom you'll find it in /system/app
There are lists here on xda.
There is a bloat removal tool in original development sub-forum.

Now since where on this topic Siyah kernel is really not that good on my galaxy s2 i777 when I try to over clock it to 1.4 it freeze and I have to pull battery and the only stable mode I can get to is 1.3 buy once I do quadrent test its even lower then when I had stock ics kernel I would get 4000 on the scores but now I get less check the pic out its right now over clock to 1.4 and I get around 2400 to 3100
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
That score on the screen shot was from stock ics
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
Answer!
whats your point. benchmark scores are placebo.
OCing causes issues. all kernels, frequency's, and so on are all device dependent.
there is no best, better or worst.

Sadly, it is one of the issues we will always have to deal with while the forum is open to new members (not to say the staff still isn't looking at ways to counter it, but we will neevr escape it fully).
With that said, i am going to close this, and STRONGLY encourage the OP search before posting in the future... HINT HINT..

siyah kernel v1.4 or v1.5

which one do you suggest for s3? which one has the better battery life?
thanks for your answers.

so why many people use siyah kernel or similar ones?
Overclocking. But unless your a ridiculously heavy user... u don't need too on this quad core beast
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Of course custom kernels offer undervolting.. which greatly improves battery. Slows the phone down though.. and that is if its stable.

Undervolting doesn't actually slow down the phone, the CPU still runs at the same speeds just on a lower voltage. I have undervolted my s3 by -75mv per step and it is still very stable and runs the same as before, and now my.battery life is amazing

Well...
Dude, i think i should not answer it as you are asking personally from one person....
But heres my opinion->
I tested about 4 Kernels.
And it was strange to see that none was there with 0 problems. Everyone had some or other problem.
My mission was overclocking.
No kernel worked well except Siyah.
So i will only refer Siyah.
About versions, i would choose the latest as it may have more features and less bugs.
So just go for latest.

Jaskaran probably just answered your question but I use siyah v 1.5 beta 4,.so the latest one pretty much. The stock settings of the kernel are good but if.youre looking to tweak and don'tknow what you're doing there's a good.guide in the 2ND post of the official thread

You can change the settings manually in the STweaks app, or by flashing a profile in recovery.

Start with the 5g. That's what I started with, then after all of them smoking my batter I just re-flashed the kernal for the stock settings

You won't be able to change clock speed on a stock kernel
To change kernel speeds you need a custom kernel which has these configurations.. Stock rooted kernel will not allow you to change the processor speed.. Rooting just gives you write permission on the /system partition nothing else...

That's not completely true. You can change the speed of the processor, it doesn't just run at 1.4 GHz the whole time. It has a clock speed table just as any kernel would. You can scale it anywhere from 1.4 GHz to 200 MHz. Just clarifying a little. I know you know, just adding on.
