So I've attempted to flash two of the ICS GSM roms based off the leaked HTC ICS and both give me bootloops(like shutting off and rebooting every 10 seconds). I've tried to do it with both 4EXT and CWM, I've superwiped, I even tried to flash the boot.img using fastboot but nothing seems to work. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas.
Mostly you only get stuck on boot loops if you're S-On so I recommend you downgrade your HBOOT first, use Revolutionary to go S-Off and do the flashing again. Cuz I've been through it too, was very annoying. Only some roms used to work S-on.
If you're S-Off, then I have no idea what's wrong because ever since I'm S-off, I've never encountered bootloops. Except for when I experiment with my phone installing mods I shouldn't.

I'm S-OFF, trust me I'm stumped, I installed a different GB rom last night to make sure my phone could flash new ROMs and that's not it either. At this point I feel like my phone is just rejecting the ROMs, I wonder if it's all ICS or just the leaked HTC one that my phone doesn't like.

Try installing the Firmware file again via Bootloader?

I've probably installed he firmware via bootloader at least 5 times, maybe I could try a different firmware though I'm not really experienced in knowing the difference between firmwares.

Go and download the one on Virtuous ROM official thread. That should do it. I got it working on the first go, though I was **** scared of bricking my phone.

I did install the one on the Virtuous ROM thread, I'm wondering if there is a way to switch to another one and try that since I've been failing to install ICS on that firmware and haven't tried on any other one.
Don't be afraid of bricking its all about knowing what to do after its bricked and also what process are you using before you flash the Rom

What do you mean by process?
I mean like a full wipe and in some cases a super wipe is required and then flash your Rom

I tried to flash both Virtuous 3.0.0 and 3.0.2 aswell as the Anyrl ROM based on the ICS leak and all exhibited the same bootloop. GB roms flash just fine as I put on Virtuous 2.0.0 last night to see if I could and I've never had an issue flashing various versions of MikRunny.
I can help you with that I just flashed 3.0.2 its vary easy

However as stated you must have s off to flash the firmware and then flash the Rom
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda premium
And no don't go flashing other firmware stick with the original one that came with the Rom

I am S-OFF and at this point the firmware on my phone is the one that was recommended to flash in the Virtuous 3.0.2 instructions.
Ok now on to flashing the firmware did you place it in the root folder sd card

Alright,
just unlocked, rooted and installed Recovery on my HTC EVO 3D. There is installed official ICS version, but wanna MIUI GB or Leedroid GB ROM. Downloading these two ROMs, wiped everything in Recovery, installed ROMs, after installing, flash boot.img through cmd to phone via fastboot, reboot my phone and nothing, i become constantelly boot loops. I am S-ON and my question is how to install roms when my EVO 3D GSM is rooted, S-ON? I wouldn't do wire trick, just would like to know how to flash roms when s-on? Thanks
For no more bootloops you need to downgrade your hboot to 1.49.XXXX and the only way is to s-off your phone, follow this thread

Background info:
I remember rooting my wife's EVO 4G LTE and it installed superuser automatically and for some reason...I can't remember which method I used. Bootloader screen now says TAMPERED. I'm on 1.12 bootloader and 1.13 software.
But now, I would like to install MeanROM.
I really don't have the time to read through a lot of the forums like before since I have a 2yr old and newborn to help take care of.
Questions:
1) Do I need to unroot first or can I go into lazy panda as is? Would this be my best bet to s-off?
2) updating to latest OTA required?
3) what is the easiest way to get latest TWRP on the EVO 4G LTE?
THANKS!!

Just run lazy panda to get s-off. Download goo manager from play store to install TWRP. when you open goo, just tap the menu button then tap install open recovery.

Being on Hboot 1.12 you're ready to go. You don't have to flash the ROM and kernel separately-just download your ROM, boot into recovery and flash away. Don't forget to make a Nandroid. As far as TWRP, I used Goo Manager from the Play Store to install it, but you can also download it from the TWRP site. Newest version is 2.3.1, I believe. Also, for S-off you can run the Lazy Panda tool. I have yet to bother with it since I'm on Hboot 1.12 and can flash ROM's, kernels and radios without issue I'll get around to it eventually, though.

easiest way to get twrp is threw the goo manager app.. menu top right the hit install open recovery script.. mad easy! u have to have your bootloader unlocked to flash a recovery first.. then u can flash twrp.. i would run lazy panda.. read the instructions.. its easy also.. if your rooted now u can run lazy panda then when u s-off flash recovery
You guys rock! Thanks for the advice.
Lastly regarding lazy panda...please correct me if I'm wrong.
I was reading their website and it mentions about the stock RUU...if I'm only rooted, I guess I would already be considered running a stock rom since I haven't done anything else to the phone. I'm assuming I would not have to download and run the stock 1.13 RUU right?
I would just run lazy panda and presto, s-off?
Thanks again!

You're good with what you have. I've even heard of people with newer ROM's running Lazy Panda, but just go with what you have.

Unlocked with S-On
Hboot -2.09
Can go into recovery but will not boot a rom
Hboot says no image or wroing image
any ideas?
What ROM are you trying to flash, and how are you trying to flash it? Custom ROM's are typically flashed through recovery, not Hboot (bootloader).

CM10 through recovery, none works.
You gotta give more info of u want help. All we got is the bare minimum facts

When you flash the ROM through recovery, what happens? Do you get any sort of error message? Does the phone go into a boot loop, hang on the splash screen, or what?
Sent using my HTC EVO LTE and a magic wand
The ROM installs and then go into a boot loop. Sorry I am learning as I go.
Sent from my cm_tenderloin using xda app-developers app
Sounds like you need to flash the kernel separately from the ROM itself since you are S-on (I don't believe CM10 includes a kernel installer for those that are S-on). You will need to use something like Flash Image GUI (an app available on the Play Store) to flash the kernel separately from the ROM so it will boot.
Sent using my HTC EVO LTE and a magic wand
Yes! Thank you very much. I installed kernel separately and that did the trick. Now I shall work on installing jb.

i think it could also handle android 4.0.3 also
Nothing is simple. If you want to learn adb, try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1894717. But read read read. It looks like it needs to be attempted many times. I dont think youll do this if youre not feeling very brave.

thks u also to post ur suggestion on my thread
can any of u help me to put this"CyanogenMod 10.1 - Android 4.2.1 - Jellybean " rom in my htc evo 3d v4.0.3 with hboot 1.53.0007
Now im intrigued. Fastboot oem unlock on htc? or via htcdev? You need a custom recovery for your device : http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager, then youll be able to flash the rom, not forgetting a factory reset and cache wipes. My suggestion? Since you're first post was about not wanting a brick, read read read. The sooner you jump into flashing with less background info, the more likely it is that youll end up having issues. But im glad you found a popular rom youd like..
Thks
