Everybody's needs & wants are different. So are likes/dislikes/expectations etc.
So if marcopolo says that he needs dualboot, I guess somebody knowledgeable on the matter needs to advise about the possibility and ways of going about it. Not push him to try a new ROM (MIUI 1.10.8 Basic, since thread # 1295089 is for it), or did bimmerrob paste the wrong URL.
I myself have tried a few ROMS - WB TW (before SE released official 2.3.3 ROM), CM7 ZMOD, FXP 028/030 & some other flavors, but I always keep coming back to Stock or it's derivatives due to one issue or another (WLOD's & restarts mostly).
I would also love to have dualboot & would try searching more on it. Will post my search results later. I've dual booted between different Windows versions & linux on my desktop & laptop for years, so why not dual boot (between ROM's) on phone.
I may be from the minority who sometimes face crippling problems with custom ROM's (since most of the users run custom ROM's without much issues). At those times, flashing another stable/stock ROM is not possible due to various reasons (not having access to laptop etc), so temporarily, switching to another stable/stock ROM would be a nice feature to have.
Dualbooting is conceptually possible and we have even tried and tested it with 2.2 ROM's combining 2.1 ROM's
so far no one tried this on 2.3.3 roms.. ITs just a matter of trying and getting it to work.

I'm on the same page as you. I'd like to test a few things out while still having one ROM that I KNOW works as the primary and boot a test ROM to see if it would even work for me.
Been meaning to research and play with the old method and modify it a bit to get this idea working but never have the time.
I'll be a guinea pig for whoever gets this in alpha.
I personally need dual boot to avoid the hassle of backing up and restoring data/apps everytime i try a custom ROM
its annoying when u are not satisfied with the new one and has to switch back to an old one
so............ guys in the ur group as well !!!

[Q]Best lapdock experience?

I would buy a lapdock, but I have a question, what is the best experience to use it? Currently I have a CM9 jokersax, I know there are different ways to use the lapdock:
1) Flash ROM based blur (but I love ics: D),
2) use a rom ics tablet UI,
3) flash nottachtrix dual boot and install full Linux Debian,
4) flash cm7 dual boot and install to SD webtop.
(I don't know if the last two are possible) what is the best method? If there are other ways, please write them. Thanks in advance for the answers and sorry for my English :/
I would wait for the official ICS upgrade, since Webtop 3.0 should offer the best speed with the lapdock, since its not running linux on top of android
First, you must decide if you want something that looks like a linux desktop, or the ICS tablet mode.
You can not get an X based system (standard Linux) on a non Blur based build. So if you want that, you either have to dual boot or punt ICS.
My feeling is that the ICS tablet mode is lacking. It REALLY needs the Moto 'vidia drivers to come out (Aug?) to get a more useable product. The present ICS builds are nice on the phone, but for me is a step down on the lapdock.
I just stick with Noat's flash (with a custom osh based on the "full Debian" mod) because I use the dock far more than the phone. I would like to use ICS though, but I will just wait till fall for this.
BTW, I use my lapdock 100% when on the road. Even for work.
Thanks I will wait the driver release(i don't hurry xD )
I tried webtop2sd with full debian and gentoo Linux on nottachtrix and found them way too slow. In my opinion paranoid Rom with tablet mode is the best but I guess it's also a matter of how you are going to use it and personal preference

ROMS For Xperia S, Suggestions.

KA11Xperia Speed Doesn't work on my device and neither does the kernel so don't suggest these
Also can you suggest some kernels that won't put my device into a boot loop
here's the thing seems you dont want ka11 why dont u use ka10.2 they say its more stable, and then install advanced ics stock kernel or xsx kernel,so u wont get bootloop,
theres also the stable version of cm9 its out now,
you should try different roms so that you can tell whats fits for you,
theres also mooded version and miui rom available, just go ahead and try it all, and choose which fits you best
goodluck.

[Q] Dual booting roms, don't have the option?

Hey people!
I've just got a few questions in regards to dual booting roms on my device (Gs2 i777 running Dream Kernel 2.7.4.) So yes, I'm a bit new to the world of rooting, but I'm eager to learn.
Anyway, I'm looking to dual boot roms. As of now, I have the CM10 nightly build as my daily driver, which is nice. I've got Jelly Bean running as well. But when I boot to recovery, I no longer have the Dream Kernel boot up screen, which provides the option to dual boot, which is what I'm looking to do.
Do I need to get off CM10, go back to my back up, and then set up the dual boot from there? Or can I set up my dual boot on the CM10 mod?
Thanks in advance!
Ba bump

[Q] Is it possible to dual boot?

Basically, I want 2 ROMs on my phone. Stock GB and CM10
I know our internal storage is too low, but we can increase our internal storage by using Link2sd right?
So is Dualbooting possible on our phone? Has anyone tried? Let me know in the comments and how did you do it
U can increase internal memory using link2sd, but u cant increase system partition... BTW dual boot requires a kernel which supports dual booting... But for now we dont have any kernel that supports dual booting... & u cant install stock gb & cm10 with dual boot, because gb needs gb kernel to boot & jb needs jb kernel to boot, so dual boot will only support same version of android like gb & gb or ics & ics...

THis is an older thread in our very own forum
YOu might read those posts cos quite a few dependable, witty people have answered there and sadly, till date Dual Booting on our NEO/V hasn't been possible and won't be in future too (DooMLord or a dev of his level could really make it happen but Now that ain't gonna happen ,so no point !!! )
