Ive been using minicmsandwich for a while, and had no issues with it (yes, I know the simple solution would be to go back to using that rom); I recently flashed cm9 and am consistently having wifi issues with it. I push the wifi toggle switch and it stays at the screen where it says turning wifi on(in the wifi menu). I'm wondering whats causing this issue. I've gone back to minicm, and the wifi works, flash back to cm, and no wifi :/
I have a sk17a

For some reason I've lost my wifi....
I was coming from gingerblur with working wifi then i upgraded to cm7 pre-beta 1 wifi was working, It was also working on Beta 2 then I noticed it just stopped working.... I have re flashed beta 2 a few times Ive restored a few backups, However wifi still does not work.... If I restart my phone go to wifi settings it says turn on I try that then it just says error..... and never turns on... If I restart my phone I have the option to turn on wifi again until I try turning on wifi then it goes back to error... and no Wifi... The reason I reloaded beta 2 again was because I was messing with my settings in CM7 and I turned on the notification widgets from the pulldown if i held down 2g/3g data it opened up a menu and i selected a 2g/3g option then I lost my signal... So I restored a backup ever since I did that my signal was back however my wifi has never worked since, Ive tried restoring and redoing beta 2 from scratch but I still have the same wifi problem...
Can anyone help or have any idea what I can do to fix this..... Should I flash a sbf file like fruitcake.... then reboot and install pre-beta 2 again will that fix my wifi.... or is this a possible hardware issue maybe I broke my wifi while pulling my battery......
I've done some searching and think it's just a wipe/reinstall answer, but i'd love to save the time and hassle and ask. I've got CM7.1 RC running on my Telus SGH-T959D with the most recent Glitch kernel med-leakage (no oc/uv) and my BT isn't turning on. I've tried switching to the newest nightly and back to the RC, I've even switched modems, no luck. Whenever I press the notification widget or try to turn it on from the wireless networks menu it greys-out as if it's turning on but it will just stay off. Any ideas?
Hello,
I became a proud owner of S3. As it usually happens to me there is the problem. Namely, from time to time problem happens to me when I'm using any web browser or anything that requires an Internet connection. Say for example Opera. I'm browsing pages and suddenly ... BOOM ... 3-5 second pause in the connection over WiFi (energy saving is off and in WiFi settings - I did it via code, in the service menu). Sometimes Internet connection breaks when I'm browsing menu or writing an SMS. For example: I browse the menu and suddenly I see - WiFi stamp disappears and after a while there is info about that phone is connected again. This is the first problem.
The phone is lying, WiFi operates in the background. When I Pick up the phone and when I'm clicking home (or power) button I get the lock screen and. .. freeze. Phone is disconnected from WiFi and only time the phone reconnects to WiFi I can unlock the screen.
On what ROM were the problems? On the Stock LF2, ROOTed LF2, Omega 7.1 - 9.0 and AOKP Milestone6.
And also it does not work automatic refresh of weather (at 1 h interval) on stock widget (the Samsung weather widget).
Sorry for my bad English.
Why couldn't you have just set your wifi to never turn off in settings, wifi, advanced.....it's practically the same thing....I wouldn't be messing around with the service menu. I would wipe data/factory reset and start again bud but this time, stay away from the service menu as it's for technicians and phone repairs etc I've not once touched the service menu....

I found the same problem ever since I upgraded to LH3 (the latest official release at this moment). The lock screen is frozen if: I had the WiFi Switched On, screen off either manually or timeout, then disconnected (say if I walk away from the wifi service area). When I press Power or Home button to wake the device, the lock screen is frozen.
Seems no freeze if wifi remains connected. Seems no freeze if wifi power saving mode is off (disabled via *#0011# (but setting won't stay if unit is power off).
Did both Cache wipe (didn't do factory reset) but makes no difference. Tried "never turn off" also makes no difference (probably because it will turn off anyway when connection is dropped)
The upgrade seems worser than before...
Any hints please...
This seems to be common but not always the same fix, my wifi constantly drops out and reconnects immediately (ruining any downloads/streaming) , i have tried the service mode, factory reset, different kernels, sleep time, static IP's, JB vs ICS Roms / Stock roms, you name it i have tried it and it STILL is doing it. Weird thing is..dont think it dropped out and reconnected when i was stock and unrooted, but as i said, tried stock rom and to no avail
Any ideas?

Cheers,

I have this issue on my galaxy note N7000, and only recently for like a month now and on various different ROMs all JB. Any updates on what the cause could be?
Go full unrooted stock and send the phone in for warranty repair. It's the smartest thing to do if a problem persists after lots of ROM switching and factory resetting.

That's would be the smartest thing to do, indeed. But... Warranty expired centuries ago.
Any clue what is causing this not uncommon problem?

Try visiting a(not crowded) place with public Wi-Fi, and see if the issue persists.
If it starts to work fine, get a new router, preferably with 802.11n support. If you buy a N compatible router, check all of your Wi-Fi capable devices for N support, and if one of them doesn't, make them N compatible(if it's a computer, get a new N compatible Wi-Fi card or USB reciever, if it's something else, well, you can't do anything else other than buying a newer version of it with N support, or not using that device's Wi-Fi feature at all) because your router will operate at an older mode even if one of your devices doesn't support N.
Hi! I updated my S4 to the latest firmware. Now m having issue in wifi. It stops downloading apps and speed is slow also. It gets disconnect and connect from wifi its self. No matter how near you are to you wifi source. Any suggestions that what might be the problem?
I assume you did not have a problem on MDK.
I had a similar problem after flashing an ME7 ROM and then back to MDK (can't say I really checked while on the ME7 ROM). I finally removed anything that might be trying to control WiFi (Battery Guru, Llama, etc.) and also turned off Power Save mode. The problem has stayed gone ever since. I haven't had the time to go back and re-enable each of those in sequence to track down exactly which was the problem.
Hey guys, I've had this problem ever since android 4.3, had it on 4.4.2, and after trying liquidsmooth's 4.4.4, the problem still exists. Wifi keeps dropping to LTE, and if I try to toggle wifi back on, the toggle switch "hangs" for a moment on the "on" switch while greyed out, and then automatically switches back to the "off" switch. Only after some time passes, sometimes taking several days, does the wifi randomly switch back on. Does anybody else have had to deal with this problem? And how were you able to resolve it? Thanks in advance

Hmm sounds like a Rom problem. Does anyone else installing Liquid Smooth have that issue? You should post in the Rom's thread and ask..If so you know your answer..
Another thing you can try is swapping some system files.. Post back here if no one else has the issue..

Sounds like you haven't flashed the MJ9 firmware. It can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578458

Thanks guys I went back to 4.1.2 and reflashed my way up through 4.3 to 4.4.2 to cm11. Hopefully this will clear up my Wi-Fi issue, will report back if the toggling issue persists

*never mind, wifi dropped within an hour of installing cm11 4.4.4. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
- to Acez71: I flashed MJ9 firmware, still no go
- to lacoursiere18: The problem still exists on CM11, I'm beginning to think the problem isn't ROM specific
Update: it seems my issue was hardware related, specifically the two gold contacts inside the cover and the two points on the back of the phone weren't making good contact. After cleaning the points and securing the cover firmly my WiFi issues seem to have disappeared for now. So if any of you are having similar issues, make sure to check the WiFi antenna contacts on the back of the phone
