Turn your pad off.
Hold [volume -] and push power until u can see fin mode appeared then u can see hardware version.

I purchase this tablet in New York, is a ITE model?
If u have hw ver.107 , it's ite version.

Thanks
Thanks for the hint
HWVer 106 & 107 are likely to be ITE. Some HWVer 106 have non-ITE and the best way to check is to try as stated above.
Good Luck
This is a little strange ... I've had this device for a while and have been reading about everything for a while.
I finally checked the HWVER. It's 107. So by everything that I've read on this forum it should be ITE. But mine isn't a true multi-touch when I check with an app. I didn't think there were any HWVER: 107 non-ITE.
The SWVER is 3.240 by the way and production date is 2011-02-23. Android is 2.2.1
Doesn't seem consistent.
Any ideas??

Just a little curious whether people here already have the new baseband or not. I still don't have the new one, but I might get it if majority of the votes are "yes".
TIA

New Baseband
No for me.
I'll wait until everything gets stable
Thanks for the responses. Waiting for some more
I just did it today because i wanted to try more roms

Don't think the baseband matters too much. I flashed the official gb a week back but found no real improvement... plus the battery life sucks in gb.
Flashed back 2.2.2 today. Nothing gained nothing lost.

New firmware is out.
Here is changelog:
http://update.archos.com/8/gen8/changes_firmware_archos_android_gen8.htm
It says there is a fix for skype video and some other annoying glitches, would be nice though I'll wait for permanent rw version.
edit:
That was fast :-D

Is this gingerbread?

No, 2.4.19 is the Firmware version, not the Android version.
Nop, it's Froyo ^^
Have you found it has slowed you archos down as i updated the other day and now it's really slow even after a factory reset
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
@98bishopmal so if you factory reset and install a previous firmware it will speed up again?
Yes that's right I have the archos 70 IT I'm looking to put Ubuntu on there as i think I will run better running Linux

I think the 2.4.19 build also has battery display bugs. It "never"charges to 100%, but in reality it does (but not according to any battery widget app,,,,, it stops st 90%). Battery life also took a hit from 2.38. Device also sometimes need a hard reset after USB debugging. Still,l less compatibility issues than a Xoom!

I also happen to think the tegra2/honeycomb 3.2 combo is overrated as hell. Buggy, memory leaching, actually more complicated than 2.2/2.3...i love the Xoom, but 3.2 actually hobbles it. Cant wait to try the g9 tho. Maybe omap4 will help solve some problems.

Heheh, Archos has updated the g8 firmware far more times in comparison to honeycomb. Minor issues ahoy, but least the French give a damn!

Did you know that a forum is not like twitter, and that you can edit your postings?
Why yes, I do know the difference.Just trying to keep the thread active, felt they were separate points, and is scrolling down really that taxing? No need for that.

anybody know what firmware the archos-arnova g2 series uses? They run Gingerbread but seem to have similar hardware to the g8s. They may contain Rockchip rk2918 chipsets (unspecified) , is it really more powerful than the g8 arm7v a8? Even the 7cg2, which runs Gingerbread, uses a qualcomm msm7227 with unknown RAM. Shouldn't it be an easy port over?

Sometimes it will do this numerous times and the only way i can get it to fully boot up is by pulling the battery out. I always keep a close eye on my ram and i always kill all apps once im done using them. my streak idles at around 170 mb of ram use.
can anybody here help?
thanks

Oem version: sd gingerstreak 2.4.4
build version: gingerstreak 2.4.4
Baseband version: Gausb1a140514-us

Hey y'all,
I'm using an application from Google Code called Touch Test to check the touch points. I noticed that the points seem to reverse when you have a finger on opposite corners of screen (top-left and bottom-right) and drag them up and down. So one finger will be at the bottom and the screen will register it as the top of the screen, while the opposite happens to the other finger.
Is this a common problem? I'm on a custom ROM that's 2.3.3. but the name escapes me.
##EDIT##
The ROM is Optimus1 Origins v2.0
