Making playlists and then transfering them to the phone. - HTC Rezound

How do you do it besides the tedious process of using the phone's menus? I usually take the .m3u files that I generate with Winamp and dump them with the music folders to my phone. Unfortunately, the Sense music player has always been spotty on detecting new music and playlists in my experience. Is there a way to make the phone rescan for music and playlists?

So no one else uses playlists generated externally?

I moatly use Google Music, and it just pulls them from iTunes.

You can try clearing data of the music app or even try out PowerAmp. It's an awesome music player. I cannot comment on the .m3u files though.
I have a music folder on my sd card which is filed like this: Music-> Artist-> Album->Songs. Seems to keep things organized.

I've been thinking about giving Google Music a try, but I don't like to use any more battery than I have to.

Agreed, PowerAmp is very good, but I'm to stingy to part with five bucks for it until I know whether or not the ICS update will also address the Sense music player's shortcomings. I'm also super-organized about filing music and tagging it, but I rarely make "mixes" and my playlists are basically just discographies, minus the tracks that I don't care for (hence the desire for importing playlists).

Need an App for my .mp3

I wanted to ask the community if they could recommend an app for al my .mp3 tracks. Something that would organize my tracks, or allow me to do so, and possibly display cover art.
Free apps that are great are:
Zimly*
WinAmp
DoubleTwist
Paid apps that are awesome are:
PowerAmp*
PlayerPro
* = my choice of that group
What ROM are you on? HTC music is nice, it's what I use. I know that there are better music apps, but HTC works well. I used IDTag to make sure all the tag information and it shows up fine.
Poweramp

Try HTC music or Google music? Those are already on your phone (well, google music might not be).
Otherwise...

Thanks for the replies. I am currently using HTC music, but I would drag and drop a folder of music on the flash card. The folder is from the same music group, but the artists are different. In turn I have a mess of tracks, when I would originally like to have it show the folder, and the option to play the entire contents of the folder.

not sure if I understood right but if you want drag and drop UI like how you would put music on a ipod with itunes then definitely try out DoubleTwist. It was a Windows client that emulates itunes.

I have once used an Apple product; Ipod...and then gave it back the next week. I'll give it a shot if it makes my .mp3 experience easier.

Really want to sync iTunes with my GS3

I switched to a Galaxy S III from iPhone about two weeks ago. I love everything about it, except the music management. I want to sync my phone with my iTunes library, while still using my stock music app. This is the reason I don't want to use doubleTwist because when you change a playlist on the phone, it doesn't sync between doubleTwist and the stock music app. I thought about using Google Music and have it all uploaded. How can I get my offline Google Music to sync with the stock app - playlists and all?
I could also use Amazon Cloud Player if it syncs better.
iSyncr from Google play. Works Perfect for me.
Isyncr works great.

Another vote for iSyncr. Great app.
I also use iSyncr together with their Rocket Player app. Works great with iTunes.

so I have never heard of isyncer but is it better then easy tune sync?
I'm a big fan of the iSyncer - keeps everything synced up wirelessly and can be set to sync at intervals. Quick question for the others using it... have you noticed any problems with the stock music player?? When I go to the list of playlists the phone freezes up and I cannot scroll up and down and finally just have to wait until the phone ask me to shut down or wait. If i'm on artist, album, songs it will scroll up and down, no problem... not sure if it is the playlist files that is freezing things up?? Anybody else seeing this? J
You can use DoubleTwist too. It'll sync to your iTunes and you can select which playlist you want to sync, and bam... done
Sucks that doubleteist runs so slow though... I've tried it a few times in my Mac and SLOW is an understatement

Never had that problem and I use the stock music player.
Howmany playlists do you have? I think I'm sitting around 45... maybe that's why? But then i would think the artist, albums would freeze too since there are more of those... any 3rd party app works just fine though... except rocket player, the album covers blink/flash when looking at an artist's albums....

Doubletwist runs slow and can't upload files bigger then 10mb (320 quality mp3s)

[Q] Music on Micro SD not recognized by players

I have lots of music on my micro sd card that the music players won't recognize. It will recognize some of the album's in my music folder but not all of them. The music is in the current playable format, I can even explore to the folders and play each individual song on every player I have and it will play fine, it just won't display all the songs together. I've tried re-scan media apps, deleting all "nomedia" files, clearing all music player caches, all with no success. Can someone please help me? My note 2 is rooted but that's it, no roms or anything, just root privileges so that I can do backups with Titanium Backup.

The media scanner sounds like it's confused for some reason, try clearing data in Settings->Applications->All->Media Storage
I've had people tell me to clear the music player data in the past and it never worked. I've never tried clearing media storage data. I cleared data and now all my music is displayed as it should be! I really appreciate it, I've struggled with this issue as far back as when i had my Galaxy S3 and never figured it out. Many props

Have you tried a different player, to see if the same thing happens?

" I cleared data and now all my music is displayed as it should be!"
Looks like it was fixed.
It did fix that problem but another appeared in its place. Now my music player is saying they're are 2 of every song. Every duplicate song that appears has the same exact file path. In essence, there is really only one song but the player is being two paths to the same song. I tried clearing my media storage again but to no avail.

Install another player. You shouldn't have to jump through these hoops to get it to work.
Or do this for your player:
Clear the data for your player like you did, then uninstall. While probably not necessary, reboot. Then reinstall and you should be good to go. If not then try a different player.

App to Manage Music On Android

Coming from iphone/itunes and want to know what is a good music managing app that I can use?
I really like the feature in itunes where it keeps your media organized in folders. I also like how you can delete the song in itunes, sync your phone and the song will be gone.
I really need these features in the music app I select.
Ideas?
Check out doubletwist.

Got everything setup on doubletwist and its working pretty well. It will completely remove songs that I dont want and this will also update on the device.
One thing I noticed it doesnt do is change the file when I change its song information. For example, Itunes builds folders based on artist/album and names the song. If you change any of the above info in itunes, it actually renames and moves the file into another folder under its artist.
This is one great feature in itunes and am wanting an android solution.
Ideas?

Any solution to this issue? Any Android music players that will keep the data files organized as well as itunes does it?

[Q] Syncing iTunes Library with my new S4

I am a long time iTunes user and have my music library dating back to 2006. I currently have the iPhone 5 but am really considering getting the GS4. The only thing holding me back is the fact that I use music on my phone so much and rely on it everyday. I just love how iTunes and my iPhone 5 sync perfectly in order of all my songs from the date they were added, going back to 2006. I know there are many music syncing apps out there but do they really sync perfectly in order as they would with my iPhone or iPod? If anyone has been in this situation and can give me some feedback I'd appreciate it as this is a key factor in my decision of switching over. Thank you.
Well you can just drag from iTunes to your phones music library and if the mo3 tags for you're songs are correct it should show up nicely on the phone. You can always edit them too with the right music player app, I personally use poweramp and have never looked back.

Quick google search found this article for you: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/can-i-sync-itunes-with-my-android-si/
You can use double twist and air sync to transport your iTunes over to your phone. This is what I use and it flawless.

I-Syncr is another great synching app. I have it so when I plug my S4 into my computer, I can select which playlists, artists, or albums sync. The app is paid, but a free trial is available.

You can always use Google music. That is what used when i switched. You can upload 20,000 songs for free, and stream them for free from browser or android app. It works great. I'm not sure if you can chose to download your music to your SD card or not. I have unlimited data so I only stream my music. That's why I haven't looked into that. I'm pretty sure you can upload music with DRM with no issues as well.
