Problems with a video M4V - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi to all. I have a video done with MiniCM7 and X10 mini pro. When i was recording, the Camera app crashed and now the video doesn't play. How to recover it? I tried with HD Video Repair Utility and hex editor (to insert index values) but doesn't work. The video is big 138MB.
Thanks

I'm not sure you can, all the relevant information is only written to the file when you stop recording, right now you only have raw streams.
Don't know if it's possible to extract the raw video and audio streams, and use them in a video editor. I usually use AviDemux to tinker with video.

I tried with avidemux but nothing... Do you know some program who take raw video data and transform it in mp4?

Maybe try feeding it into VLC player, if that can't handle it i don't think there's anything that can, but i must honestly say i don't have high hopes for your file.

VLC doesn't play the file... then, can i delete the file???

That is up to you to decide I wouldn't think it's worth keeping around if you can do nothing with it, but then, maybe the content has some meaning for you and someone someday may find a solution...

[Qeustion] Movies on HD2?

Hello there Community,
I have been reading alot of these forums and on the web.
Atm using Energy 26june 23569 with 2.10.50.28_2 (best for me).
Now i want to convert some VOB (Dvd) movies/files to the best suitable extention to play fullscreen on the HD2 (i can for example make .wmv with moviemaker).
The problem is, when i convert a file of 100MB to MP4 642*480 i CAN watch them fullscreen in the default CAMvidplayer (dunno how its named), without any problem .. but when i code a vid to 1.5gb mp4, it hangs on video, and only plays sound.
Hope someone can help me with this and give me a few good instructions/links to do so.
Dont know if this topic is in the right forum though, sorry if it isnt.
Thanks!

Mark.
Ahh sorry, stupid of me i didnt even see the Q&A
there is a program called mp4hd mate it was made for the original HD but there is an extra file with it to add settings for hd2 give that a try its here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478050
I always split fulllenght movies into 2 parts, cause file above 1.5g
tend to have hiccups every 5-10min (5sec freeze).
But i never have a full picture freeze.
What bitrate are you using?
What codec are you using?
I use h264 codec around 1600kb.
Get your hands on a program called Coreplayer.
And as for converting, try to convert to 800 by 480 as that is the devices resolution. Anything below will become choppy, above isn't bad but it may cause stuttering during playback.

Same qeustion here
Wish it can be fullscreen
I've sucessfully converted several videos and full length movies to mp4 to play on my hd2 using VLC, I noticed though it's important to make sure to select a maximum resolution of 720p. Still looks good on the screen, plays full screen and no stutters or freezes. Hope that helps.
I use "Any video Converter", for all my devices, here are a few reasons why I like it...
It's really easy to trim off the beginning and the ending of videos in the apps built in player to make the videos shorter and smaller.
Remember's my custom settings
Choose my Frame Rate, Video Bitrate, Video Framerate.
Many settings with the audio choices.
Can Place multiple files to convert one after the other.
It's free and they keep updating it regularly.
Video Conversion
I used "Format Factory" to convert some AVIs for the HD2. Not only do they play now they play in HTC's video player just like Transformers. Different settings and a few different resolutions and they all seem to play just fine...
"Format Factory" is free and a small download.

Video Player

It's possible to play video on this device? How can I convert my video files to files which x8 understand?
It can take mp4 for sure : I have 2 videos in "/sdcard/video/"
You can try RockPlayer - Plays all divx videos so no need for convert the files at all the player is really great app and you can get it for free from the android market. I watch two movies both more then 2 hours long for a 50% battery so the player is great.
It looks like slideshow with software decoding, it's not works with hardware decoding.
It not play all avi formats well but works great for some if you have time to find out what format works on that phone but i Watch for example Fight Club on this and was nice and smooth also watch some Shows on it and it works great for that it`s very useful when you are at the bus or at the train and have time to kill.
When connected to the computer, download MediaGo from PC companion. It converts audio and video to x8 format, as well as adding it to the device.

yup. just use the media go from SE. it automatic convert the media file to match the hardware decoding. its an extra work but worth doing. to save some memory.

Cannot setup Media Go on my windows 7 x64 corporate. Fail while installing MS Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable package.
I use Avidemux GTK app on Ubuntu. Just use "auto->PSP" settings. it makes files that x8 decodes in hardware.
My favourite video playing app is arcMedia.
It is capable to handle largest video files thanks for video buffering.
But It is not working since I rooted my 2.1 with original rom.
Anybody knows why?
The problem is app2sd. arcMedia doesn't support app2sd yet.
I really wait for the update because you don't have to convert video files with it.
arcMedia plays normal xvid videos smoothly like desktop computers.
My pre-isntalled video player can't find any files, even those which i've recorded with camera. What's the problem?
What's the point of installing video player which can't find video files? for example if some1 buys x8 and don't want to use any of apps from the market, only pre-installed ones. so he can't watch any recorded videos? only getting there through camera app? it's the same with picture review.
Rockplayer v6 vfp version can play video rmvb well, of course, not as well as computer
It all depends on the encoding and the resolution of the files people.
Dont expect to be able to play a full hd avi or mp4 with a 600hz CPU!
Maybe the PSP compatible avi files you can d/l with utorrent work better.
N.
yeah,i would recommend you to convert the videos with Xmedia.(It Supports X8)
Its works everytime on my X8
I use yxplayer2, RockPlayer gives me a lot of erros playing the videos.
I can also say that vital player from market plays divx/xvid with no lag at all, for me it really is the best app of this kind.
to convert videos, try XMedia Recode or Format Factory
I use ImToo Video Ultimate Converter..
choose convert to android specification

there are lots of software players that play almost everything including mov and mpeg
Hi, Ive used RockPlayer quite extensivley and it played nice (even with subtitles) up untill last week when all of a sudden the video lagged awfully. I tried all the other players (yx, qq, arc...) and each and every one of them lags.
Now, Ive updated to the latest x8 software (from the first 2.1 release) and hoped it would help, but playback is the same.
Tried to enable JiT now, but that didnt help.
Any ideas why would something like this happen seemingly out of the blue?
EDIT: I might add that this is all in software mode (even for files that work in hardware mode). Id like software mode to work however because transcoding is kind of a pita job.
EDIT2: Found the culprit. H.264 @300kbps is too much for this phone period. Both xvid and divix play nice even at 1000kbps.

best video convertor

Hi Friends,
Please suggest me few best video convertors for xperia x10 that doesnt compromise in video clarity and scaling....
I have very good music videos that i want on my phone!
I've used the program MediaGo! that comes with the x10 to put AVI files on my phone. It works great, you just drag'n'drop the files onto your phone with this program and it will automatically convert the clip to a format the X10 likes.
You could also try an app such as RockPlayer, which will natively play .avi (and many other) formats directly on your phone.

I use HandBrake (http://handbrake.fr/), which is a great free utility. It's available for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux.
I use it to convert Flash (.FLV) files and MPEG-2 (.VOB and .MPG). It's not a simple drag-and-drop type of program because it allows you to adjust a lot of settings, but the resulting quality is fantastic. There are also lots of usage write-ups and help available online.
AVS video convertor perfect quality

If it helps you could just load them in the phone as they are and use moboplayer, or use media go(slow but good)

see if u want gud videos then download the latest youtube downloader and use convert to try and convert the videos to PSP videos in high quality !! the clarity is really awesome !!
hope it helps
plz thank me if it does!!
I use Audials Tunebite to covert videos and movies for my mobile devices, for example. Works fast and it can be used to convert videos to avi, mp4 and all sorts of video formats.
Another useful thing is that this one also has customizable conversion profiles that let you play around with the conversion settings and to choose whatever bit rate, frame rate etc. you need to get the files converted in perfect quality for any devices you need.
I for one am pretty happy with the way this one handles converting my videos, movies and music.
Thanks friends....but i guess playing the videos in mobyplayer was a good idea and also using youtube downloader was very much helpfull.
hi, dunno if it could help but on my mind best converter for any media is "super" (yeah thats the name lol).
but the fact is if you re looking for control just dl it's the more interesting exept if you don't really understand media format.
hope you ll give it a try
don't need to convert it, just use Mobo player. it support almost all format.

How to convert video to play on fascinate

So just curious what is the best way to convert say a normal movie or TV show to a format that Fascinate will recognize in Moboplayer?
Any recommendations on what format I should convert it to?
Also what software should I use? Preferably free but I know that not always possible
Lots of variables here, so you may need to try a couple and see what formats you can play, and which codec you need to use for encoding. I have the best luck with MP4, since those always play in the stock video player without issue, I've just stuck with them.
I always use Avidemux, and VLC which are both free and cross platform. VLC alone will convert most file types.
What about mx video player?
Thanks for suggestions I am going to check them out.
what resolution should I make it? Isn't there an ideal one for our phone?

[Q] recorded video file retrieve

hi
i was recording a video but then the phone fell off my hand and switched off. after i switched it back on the video was no longer in the gallery but when i plugged the phone to the pc i saw a temp_video in the camera folder. is there any way to access this file?
thank you
if you found the file already, you should probably try and copy it to the pc and play it in vlc media player. if that is capable of playing, you should be able to convert it to any format you like and have a properly repaired video then.
i cant play the file with vlc player. any other suggestions.
I got the same trouble. got the temp_video file with no extention.. tried to add a extention to it with no help(.mp4,.mpg,.avi,.mpeg).. tried VLC Player and it indeed show the codec as Mpeg1/2 video, but cannot play it..
Hope there is some way to recover this video..
Good luck to you too.
Temp file is not encoded = no extension + no codec. Then it is impossible to recover video from temp file. I'm sorry.
this means u haven't clicked the video record button again to stop recording and SAVE the videos .. which means the device didn't even save it , so this temp file is useless .. sorry for ur vid
