Anyway...
Seems that just in the last hour or so, BestBuy has put up this page:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HTC+-+E...93&st=htc evo 4g lte&cp=1&lp=1&contract_desc=
Looks like I can get to bestbuy, use my bestbuy card, and pre-order after all. It was beginning to seem that Bestbuy was not doing pre-orders.
Good news good news!
----- EDIT:
See this user's post concerning best buy EVO LTE offers.

I was just about to order from best buy, but I did a web chat with CSR and asked about 50$ gift card. He said that's only in-store. That's fine with me, as I only shop brick and mortar, but thought others may wanna know.

that regular price seems a bit steep. hopefully i can get the discount
what benefits are there to pre ordering with Best Buy? based from past experience, it assures you a phone at launch, but for the same price wouldn't you just pre order with Sprint and get it a couple days earlier(potentially)? unless you have a gift card or something
I know with the OG Evo and pre ordering thru radio shack, the nice part was radio shack processed the 100$ rebate in-store. I didn't have to mail the rebate in and wait 2mo for it in the mail. But, that may not be relevant anymore, as it appears the rebate is pre-processed with online sales.
That said, waiting for rebate in mail can be good, too. With my diamond, I got a rebate for 400 something dollars. Somehow the rebate center thought it was for 4 devices. Nice surprise in the mail, that's for sure.

I just got back from pre-ordering mine at my local best buy. I just had to pay $50, sort of a down payment but I got the $50 gift card. On the receipt it says the estimated date to pick up is May 18th but he said it could change.

Hate to say it, but you got ripped off my friend. Or maybe not. For this launch, BB doesn't require the downpayment (at least they didn't for me or anyone else I talked to - might be a regional thing though). All BB preorders get a $50 gift card without the downpayment, which you'll recieve when you purchase the phone. This gift card can then be used towards the cost of the phone - bringing the cost of the phone down to $150 if preordered at BB. Having said that, hopefully you'll still revive the extra $50 gift card when you go in to buy the phone.
Keep things on topic no Flame Wars
i got back from bestbuy.
NO MONEY was given.
they asked if im upgrading, zip, email, name, and printed out a sheet of paper detailing my reserved phone. they'll email me when its there.
they also give you a printout of available accessories for the phone on release date, otter case, n some other chit.
i guess i'll pay for it when it gets there, they said the gift card is given if you trade in your EVO. i was like, nahh. i was one of 2 people @ 2pm. (edit, sounds like bestbuys arent on the same page)
i dont think many people are excited about this phone or know about it.
either way, cool with me, saves me money until it arrives.
i wanted to walk out with that asus transformer prime/or t300
theyre speculating 18th, friday release too.
Same here. Just walked out of best buy. No money exchanged hands. No gift card. Just a paper reservation. Which has the wrong name in it, I noticed halfway home. A diff line/name/number on my family plan. Need to get this sorted out. They were selling Evo 4gs for 99$. I was surprised to see that. Almost got one for my mom for mothers day. But I'm thinking galaxy nexus for her. That way if Evo never gets flash friendly, I'll just trade her phones lol

Well if that's the case, I didn't get screwed over. I just bought myself a gift card. Which I don't really see the point in but at least I didn't have to pay for the whole phone right there.
I also got the "no gift card, no money exchanged" version of the pre-order at BB.
Do I have to get insurance with BB if I want insurance, or can I still get it elsewhere? Any suggestions?

the original evo 4g release at best buy was a joke.
sprint systems were bogged making activation an hourly issue, bestbuy was allowing later numbered people skip.
i hope this time around its a little more smooth.

mine was down payment. Paid $50 for a giftcard which I could then use to pay down the phone. Wasn't until recently that I read that you also get another $50 giftcard upon activation of the phone. I don't see it as a ripoff though, $50 is pocket change to me.

That's not a very flattering statement. But regardless, I would love some of your pocket change if it is so insignificant to you. Most people would have their day made if they found $50 on the street.
Similar experience at BB. Info given at 6 pm, got my paper, no money exchanged. 2nd in line (woman next to me was 1st), Will receive e-mail when it's in. Will cost 50$ to get the phone assuming im trading in my Evo. Through Sprint it would have cost me around 130$ or more depending on how much value the Evo loses over the next few days. No brainer there.

preorded today instore at best buy
no deposit (per the email they looked at in the system)
filled out paperwork just like i would on a normal upgrade
got confirmation (email and physical)
left my phone number and time i expected to pick it up (assuming it stays on 5/18 launch)
I didn't ask about $50 wireless freedom or $50 preorder, but that right there should drive price to $100, then add in $10 Google Wallet and possibly $50+ in trade in.
well done

How's that not flattering? Used to be a time when nice cellular phones weren't owned by everyone. I don't necessarily miss that. People have their priorities so far out of whack, it is absurd. If $50 is a lot of money to someone maybe they shouldn't be dropping $4000+ a year on cellular services and its accompanying toys.
Hell I commented on a post earlier about a guy taking no interest financing for 18 months on a sub $500 tablet. A lot of what is wrong with the current economy in the US. People living beyond their means. Feeling entitled. Always having to get the latest and greatest. Saddens me
I bought 2 for $250 shipped no tax. Considered paying for express shipping, but that would have negated my good deal by $40.

I completely agree with your comments about living our of their means. I also agree that this country is messed up that way. I am a teacher in a high school just outside of Chicago, and while 80% of my students are on free or reduced lunch, 100% of them own a cell phone (and about 80% are smartphones from my estimation). I find this to be both disturbing and indicative of our messed up system.
Anyway, I just didn't feel that flaunting the insignificance of x dollar amount was real classy. Maybe it was to make a larger point, to me it came off as very smug. I don't care how rich you are, saving $50 if the option is present should mean something to you, in my opinion.

Sprint and target are offering 150 for used evo 4g, which isn't really a bad deal if you're evo is bad condition, but if yours is in good condition you can easily get 200, probably 250, and a slight chance at 300 if you post at the right time and include the right stuff.
Now there's also radioahack who is offering a whopping 100 for your evo. Like I said above if yours is in good condition go with Craig's or eBay, if not go with target or sprint. $100 ? Really radio shack?
Last of all is best buy. I'm not quite sure about there buy back program but its probably similar
Edit: wirefly is also sellin it right now for 179.99, but according to user RDCRDS, they ill jack I up to 300 if you switch the phone to another line. So for those upgrading your mom/brother/daughters lines, don't go through wirefly.
If you decide to sell your Evo through inline services, I highly recommend starting with craigslist. There are no fees or taxes, but the buyers are usually cheap compared to eBay buyers. With eBay you get a larger customer base and your item will sell for more, BUT and this a big but, sir mix-a-lots type of butt, eBay and PayPal combined, charge an arm and leg for their services. Those fees can be paid back with in 30 days so you can take them out of ur next paycheck to make your self feel better.
Heres a link to an eBay and PayPal fee calculator. If your start your item at 100 and it sells for 270 plus 10 shipping and handling, your total fees will be about 35 bucks
Once you sell, I recommend buying from sprint if the instant rebate service they're offering is still available at the time of launch. The tax charged on these phones is based on the full retail price and sprint usually has the cheapest out of all of the others.
I personally will be buying fromnbest buy because I put 50 bucks down on may 5th to pre order mine through that "secret pre order" thing they were doing.
So where are you guys going to buy from?

I think this is a pointless thread and is really irrelevant based upon the title. Ill humor you though. ATM im going with Best Buy but if sprint expands their new activation credit from another carrier thing that gives you $125 off the phone then it will be Sprint and the Sprint store I am near is not doing Pre-orders.

Much better thread then the another released date one.
So what you are saying is if Best Buy sells the phone for an extra $100 then everyone else, say $599, that is the price I will be paying tax on? Do you have to pay the tax on the full price of the device anywhere you go? If that is the case, I wish I didn't put $50 down at BB because that just seems wrong!
Can someone confirm this is how it works....

Its to what YOU pay. Lets say sprint is the only one that gave an instant rebate and all other places you have to mail it in. $200-50=150*1.07(for 7%)=$160.50 vs 200*1.07=214-50=164. OK so the difference is 164-160.5=$3.50. So it costs you
roughly a gallon of gas. Nothing to fret about. Also Best Buy has reward zone stuff and well the people that work there usually aren't as dumb as the people that work in a sprint store.
Also in reference to your $100 more that would cost you $7 in tax. Basically take the difference and multiply it by your tax. add the 1 in front of the decimal to add the tax or add a 0 to find out how much the tax is.

I understand the math but thought I would be paying the tax on $200 and not on $600 from Best Buy. So it is actually $400 more then I ws expecting to pay tax on and we are about .0875% here. If you trade in your device, do they give you the tax for it like when you trade in a car?
when I preordered mine at best buy the guy who rang me up told me that the gift card is refundable. I'm pretty sure bsed on past experience that best buy is going to charge 599 for full retal and sprint is going to charge 499. So pretty much you're looking at a 10 dollar dfference if the tax rate in your area is 10%! 50-60 dollars.
Wow that's pretty much the 50 down payment

and i should get no later then the 23rd.
im gona get mine at best buy because in oregon i can get a real deal. probobly around 250 with my 2 year upgrade in september
I already purchased two from wirefly. 179.99 no tax, free shipping and 50 bucks off when used with my BofA add it up. I might have to wait a few extra days after launch but I am patient. So out the door 129.99. This is of course upgrade price.
I went in to Sprint to preorder mine today. This is a corporate store and I asked about the mail in rebate, he told me they are going to be using mail in rebates again with the EVO 3D. He may not have been right, but I do remember when Sprint stopped mail in rebates they said it would be temporary.

I have read elsewhere on here that Best Buy charged people tax on the total cost of the phone. I have no reason to disbelieve these people but that was not my experience. When I purchased my evo from BB last year, I was only charged tax on what I actually paid for the phone. I'm not complaining but I do wonder why this is not uniform all over.

It depends on the state. From what I've read, that's how it works in California. Stores don't get to decide how they charge sales tax on items people buy...state/local government does that for them and they just pass it along to us .

That's only if you order online I think. I recently upgraded one of my lines and had to pay the $18 'upgrade fee'. I tried a couple times to get them to credit it back since I've never had to pay an activation fee because of my work discount, but they just told me their policies changed and it was a 'valid' fee lol. They said the only time it was not charged was online orders only. I can activate/switch as many phones as I want using the online activation thing and not get charged...but having the guy at the store punch in a few numbers costs me $18.
Just Bought mine from WireFly moments ago, $179.99 Free Shipping.
Wirefly is ok but if you have a problem with the phone it is 100% harder to get it fixed replaced because they do not have local stores.
For 20$ more ill go with best buy.Plus if in 5 months if you take the phone off that line they can hit you up for 300$
I got 1 evo from them and had a lot of problems.

Nah Amazon always have lowest prices. Retail stores can't compete and won't price match Amazon. I still buy from best buy and price match radioshack or lowest retail I can find the Geek Squad protection plan is second to none no deductible $10 a month and brand new replacement even from water damage. So you may save now but lose out on money later.

I actually looked at the details of their plan, there is no where it says you get a straight replacement, they will send it in for repairs if that is necessary. I didn't see anywhere where it says you get a direct replacement. Although it is likely they will replace it, I really hate how every employee at best buy tells you something different, last time I tried to exhange a phone wher gps would never lock and I was within thirty days, one person tried to tell me that is how it is suppose to be. Tried to make a fool out of me and after I talked to the third person, fourth person actually decided to replace it for me.
The offer is $149, in my area at least. And ya, only for new customers. The wirefly friends and family was selling for the same price and was upgrade friendly, for those still looking.
EDIT: I guess I should've re-searched it up. The current price is up to $179- wirefly(DOT)com/eCommerce/SpecialOffer.aspx?cid=26987_584f5c9aca934f7b941e32743e8f2eff

if you kept the packaging and traded it in at radio shack and it was in excellent condition as was mine, the evo 4 got you 158 dollars off on a 3d. so my final in store cost including them incorrectly charging me 12 bucks tax on the original 199.99 instead of the tax on 41 dollars was 54 bucks and some change. beat that
It will be 6-12 months before price drops in my opinion...
These things aren't doing bad yet. My blog has had 3x more hits on the Evo 3D post I made than any other post since Christmas. My local Sprint store's take was "On release day we didn't have the line like we did when the Evo 4G came out", but when I asked for more details it turns out they sold more Evo3Ds than 4Gs (which ran out) the first day, and have had a steady flow of Evo 3D buyers each day since then as reviews have come out. Sprint underestimated the demand for the 4G, and has made sure they have a ready supply of the 3D.

So,
I am about to upgrade to my first smartphone from my trusty old nokia flip phone. Naturally, android is my OS of choice and i am now deciding on hardware. Here is where it gets tricky... I am a member of an AT&T Family plan. I am trying to avoid spending big bucks while still getting a good phone. My two choices seem to be the HTC Inspire 4G and the Motorola Atrix. It seems i can get the inspire for 69.99 from amazon wireless, but the Atrix remains at 149.99. Does anyone know the best price i can get an Atrix for on a family plan???
thanks for any advice,
I believe RadioShack has them for 79.99 right now. I could be wrong but even if it goes up it's 149.99
You can try adding a line and keep the new phone for better pricing. Then just rent out the extra line. That's what i did. I charge my friend 30 bucks and only pay 10 a month for his line.

thanks so far
well,
radioshack is a bust. I am a "added line", so upgrading to the atrix would have been $200+.
I have thought about the adding a new line trick but i really don't think the person that is the head of our plan will go for that.
I am going to checkout bestbuy in person later today. They only have a generic upgrade price on their website, not different ones for individual plans, family plans, and added lines like all the other AT&T distributors seem to have. Perhaps this is good news. I will update this thread with whatever i find.
Any other suggestions in the meantime?
Costco (not sure if changed) but I had early upgrade (18month+ mark) family plan atrix for 129.99 when everywhere else was either 150- $200 for family plan upgrade
The inspire upgrade was even cheaper at like $20 bucks
I second the Costco recommendation. They do a great job, and have a better return policy. And they give a cheap belt clip pouch as well.
From one cloud to another.
Got mine at Costco for $119 back in March.. came with the belt clip(now using otterbox Defender), and a car charger which I liked.
The last time I went to Wal-mart they had the Atrix for 78.88.. And I think Sam's has it close to that price too. They just revamped their cellphone area in the two local Sam's clubs here..
Good Luck

Not sure what the sales person you spoke to was smoking. I've worked at Radioshack for 3 years and we've never charged different prices for "added lines" on AT&T. If you're eligible for an upgrade, you get the upgrade price. It doesn't matter if you phone is line 1, 3, or 5, the price is the same.
Now, we have in the past charged different prices for lines 3-5 on T-MOBILE but, well, the keyword there is T-Mobile.
EDIT (but not really, because I caught it before posting): Oh, I see what you saw. The Radioshack WEBSITE charges more for added lines on a family plan. Pricing does not work this way in the STORE. The online phone orders are fulfilled by a third party for our website, so they have their own rules regarding those things. If you upgrade to an Atrix in a Radioshack retail store, you will get the phone for $79.99.
Got mine at Sam's last week for $74.99.
Thanks all!
Thanks for all the info!
I now understand that in-store prices and online prices varry greatly and as a result will probably be picking my phone up from Best Buy, RadioShack or Sam's Club. I did all my shopping on the websites of the respective businesses which produced very high prices for smart-phones on family plan upgrades. Oh how i miss the days of Newegg and Wirefly ruling the smartphone pricing game.
I will be off to AT&T then best buy and the shack after work to decide between the atrix and the inspire and subsequently pick one up.
Special thanks to darkkterror for the insider info that cleared things up.
Awesome Result!
So,
After all the effort of trying to find the cheapest price for the Atrix in my area i bought it at the AT&T store. But wait... it gets better. I went into AT&T after i got off work to play with both the Atrix and the Inspire to help me decide which phone i preferred. Atrix won. At that point i asked the employees that worked at the AT&T store which one they preferred and 3 out of 4 had the Atrix. The deal was sealed. I then proceeded to tell one of the saleswoman that i was going to head out to BestBuy or RadioShack to buy the phone because it was cheaper at those locations. To which she responded; "oh, we do price matching!" I didn't even have to leave the store and i picked up the Atrix for all of $25 before tax. I don't even know why she gave it to me for that price, which sounds more like price-match/2.
I think the key to this story is what i overheard while i was being rung up at the cash register. Apparently stores in the same area compete for most sales. But they don't compete for most profit brought in, oh no, that would make far too much sense. Instead they compete for most devices sold! Thus making the price that they charge you for the phone irrelevant to the people ringing you up at the cash register. Definitely a good bit of knowledge to have when haggling with sales reps.

Big deal, stick to Radioshack or Bestbuy and they honor it on the spot. I used to dread getting a new phone when I only went to the Sprint store...for many reasons...that wasn't even one of 'em. Not to mention no restocking fees to worry about.
That and the Sprint store near my house is staffed by potentially the most inept bunch of fools I've ever seen. I've gone in for screen protectors and stood in line for 20 effin' minutes while the entire store piled up with more people...there was only one person in line in front of me...fully staffed store...and it was like nothing was moving at all. It's amazing that they get anything done at all.
Sure, I could have left, but I was ironically entertained at how awful the experience was. I just had to see how far it went on for. I'll never go back there again...for anything...

Yeah same here. They need to just wipe out everybody in the corporate store near me and start over.

Must vary greatly then. My local store has great staff. Knowledgeable, courteous, and really the best customer experience I've had in years! I went to Best Buy just 2 days prior to the 3vo launch and was told I'd have to pay full price minus a measly $75. Apparently at Best Buy, you don't get the premier silver full upgrade override, $125 line porting credit (my wife was still with AT&T), and a 10% discount for being a AAA or credit union member. Best Buy knew nothing about ANY of those deals and I would have been screwed royally had I bought from any place other than the Sprint store. They overrode my early upgrade and made it a full upgrade, gave me the $125 porting credit for the second phone, the 10% discount on my monthly bill, and I walked out with two 3vo's... FREE after all the discounts. I would have paid over $500 at Best Buy and I bet Radio Shack too.
Not to mention the fact that when I brought back one of the 3vo's to exchange it due to the crooked screen problem, they let me sit down in the repair room with the new one, boot it up, and evaluate the screen for dead pixels and to confirm it wasn't crooked before I even made the exchange.
This is probably one of those things where service varies greatly depending on your location in the U.S.

Hello,
I too prefer purchasing my Phones from the Sprint Store and was so excited when they had done away with Mail in Rebates. It is greatly disappointing that they have reverted. Another advantage to purchasing from the Store is you can Bill directly to your Account. I hated having to send the Rebate for my 4G to El Paso, TX and waiting 6 Weeks for it to come.
Cheers,
JJ

I'm sure everyone's experience will vary greatly from place to place...but my Sprint store is worth avoiding. Typically I get my phones from Radioshack 'cuz I'm buddies with the chicks that work there. They hook me up with deals, I hook them up with nerd advice and help. One of them wanted a rooted Evo, so, we swapped Evo's and I used hers to trade up to the NS4G, and then up the the E3D (again). The only reason I went to Best Buy is 'cuz RS doesn't get the NS4G. Too bad the radio on that phone is the worst I've ever seen cuz otherwise it's an amazing little single core phone.
I've heard nightmares from all around. The RS always gets all discounts applied, and then some. The Best Buy also had absolutely no trouble giving me up reverting me back to Gold status....but BB aren't my buddies...YMMV from store to store of course, but, aside from the mall Sprint kiosk and 1 manager at the corp store I have never dealt with a Sprint employee that knew what the hell was going on...

That's crazy. I have the horrible backlight bleed around the buttons and a damn crooked screen, and I asked a rep at the store where I bought it from (corporate store) if I could exchange it for a new one because of the backlight bleed, of course she said no. On top of that, I couldn't even open a box of another one and power it up without activating it, just to see if it had the bleed or not.
I was really pissed.
Sprint is going back to MIR but this time around its a little different. All phones under the price $149.99 will have a $50 mail in rebate. So the 3vo and the new Motorola phone will still be instant.
Sent from that one guy with that one phone
correct, from what I read on on sprintusers, the 3vo will not be impcted with instant rebates
Good evening fellow XDA and AT&T SGN enthusiasts. Been off the scene here for a long while. I preordered my SGN from BB and will get it tomorrow. BUT, I've come onto a deal at my local Costco Wholesale warehouse I feel I needed to share as I'm planning to do it myself.
So here's the deal:
Costco will offer the SGN starting the 19th for home delivery. Usually 2 days to deliver. I know, bummer to have to wait.
Price for upgrades and new lines should be around 270-280. So less than AT&T and Best Buy. (I know the 50 gc) But the savings continue past that 50
IN ADDITION, you should have no upgrade fee(save 36), no restocking fee (save 35 if you decide to return it), possibly the first month of data free (save 30), 90 days to return versus the 30 by BB and AT&T, free accessory kit (includes car charger, screen protectors, belt holster/pouch).
All said and done, this is one heck of a deal. They will offer both White and Blue. The only downside is the wait. But if you didn't preorder and were or are planning to wait, and you have a Costco membership, this should be the way to go!
Simply put in dollars, here is the breakdown if the info I got was correct.
Save 20-30 in price alone. Save the upgrade/ activation fee of 36. Save 30 (+/-) for first months free data. That's 66 minimum saved versus the 50 from BB. 116 at most.
Add the free accessories (not the best quality but will do and is more than a case)
Add the fact you have 90 days of protection from Costco none the less.
I make no guarantees of this information other than that's what I was told. I'm planning to try the SGN from BB tomorrow for a week. If I like it, I'll pay the restocking fee of 35 and get my Note from Costco STILL coming out ahead if the figures are correct.
Anyways, thanks for reading and I hope to see you all around the forums. I hope this information is valuable to whomever may need/ want it. Let me know what your experiences are with this if anyone decides to go this route. I've bought MANY a phone from Costco and believe they are the best place to buy. Too bad they were late on the draw for this phone.... :-(
That sure looks like a very good deal. Only accessory we got from at&t is the charger. Lol.

Actually I have heard there is no restocking fee at BB on phones.
As with Amazon wireless, I would verify whether that long return period is equipment only (or one could be on the hook for a contract if the device is returned after AT&T's return window). Just something to check into if it isn't stated plainly beforehand.

I can check tomorrow and will make a report about this. Hopefully that this rumor is true as I love costco's additional accessories.
BTW, if you will join in an existing family plan (new number/new contract) .. will I get this benefit too from Costco?
What accessories do they give you?
Where did you hear that you get a month of free data? I also think I did have to pay the upgrade fee last time I bought at costco, though it could have changed I guess.

The 90 days is equipment-only. If you return within 30 days you can also have AT&T cancel your contract, but after that you can only exchange the phone for another on-contract AT&T phone (or return the equipment for cash and throw the subsidy away I guess). Costco itself is very lenient with returns but they can't do anything about the 30 day AT&T contract cancellation period.

Costco has add-a-line prices, but it's often a bit more expensive depending on the phone.

It varies by phone. Usually it's something like a car charger, case, screen protectors, and/or earbuds.
I definitely recommend at least checking out buying from costco. The 90 day exchange period alone is a great reason. I've found their prices are usually a smidge higher than amazon wireless, but if you want the free accessories or aren't 100% sure on the phone you want it's great.
Just curious.
I'm part of a family plan and I'm waiting to upgrade. The $50 discount at Amazon is not available to me because of the family plan. Will I get a discount at Costco... or am I stuck paying the $300?
Starting to look better for prices, still waiting out on it going lower, come on $199 .....or less lol

Most costco upgrade prices are the same as the new contract prices, and they don't differentiate between family/individual plans (they have three prices--new contract, upgrade, add a line). However they don't generally discount as deeply as amazon. If I had to guess the Note will probably be $280-$290 for upgrades when it comes to costco, but we won't know for sure until they have it. In my experience the guys at the kiosk in costco don't generally know much ahead of time what their upcoming options will look like, but you could go ask.
Take a look at their website; they have all their current offerings there, and I've never seen them have different online and in-store prices. I'm sure the Note will show up there when it is available.
Best Buy clearly has a sticker on the test unit I saw that had a $35 restocking fee will apply on it.
No restocking fee. 90 day equipment guarantee. 30 days for service return timeframe. Typically they sell new handsets at 70-80 less than the selling price, which in this case is around 350. So hence the 270-280 range on the purchase cost.
Keep in mind also folks, Amazon Wireless is an ONLINE service with additional ETF rules and guidelines, more than just the carrier. If you need to return or want to return, there will be headaches to face. At least Costco is local and brick and mortar.
Accessories have been covered in prior posts and replies.
You WILL need to be a member of Costco ($55-$110 with $110 the Executive and has cash back accruals of %2 of purchases made for the entire year! So get paid to shop, that's what I do!) to purchase this.
Looking at the total package, I'm glad to be a member and make my phone purchases there! Piece of mind, great pricing, local locations and some additional monies back make me stay.
Not impressed I would rather get it for $250 and a free case that's a $80 savings not to mention the black tie insurance and I plan on keeping the note so I Really don't care about a restocking fee

Are you paying an upgrade fee? What about a car charger, screen protectors, possibly ear buds or a leather holster versus the flip case?
Just pointing out some additional advantages...
To each his own. For me, it'll work out better in the long run.

There is no insurance. You'd have to go through AT&T or buy 3rd party like square trade or similar.
Looks like Best Buy is a better route for you. Especially for that no deductible coverage. I'm wondering if that Black-Tie plan could be purchased for phones not bought at Best Buy. Something to cOnsider.
I had gone to 3 different Costco's on friday to ask about the Note and they had no clue about it. I had already pre-ordered from Best Buy so I'm sticking with them.

Black tie protection can be purchased on iPhone bought somewhere else but no other phones. And we don't have any restocking fees regardless of what you've seen/ been told. Some managers got in trouble not long ago for telling people we had restocking fees to avoid return/exchanges.

I work at Costco. Yesterday when I checked the price of the phone they had it for $350. Yes $50 more than retail. also it is only available for home delivery meaning they have to special order it.. I don't know nothing about getting the first month data for free.
It maybe different if you order at Costco.com
Ok so here it is. Costco will begin selling via home delivery on the 21st fir a cost of 269.99. You'll get the phone, accessories with no upgrade/ activation fees. No credit will be given for the first months data plan though.... 90 day return/ exchange program. There was also mention of a free extended battery as well but ill see that if and when it happens. No restocking fee either! Available in white or carbon blue.

Galaxy Note at Costco
dakleenupman,
thx for the good info. curious though as to how u get ur intel on costco selling the note starting on 2/21. i called our local costco wireless folks and they had no idea. no reason to question the reliability of ur info but also don't want to rely upon it if it turns out that it will be several wks b/f costco starts selling it.
thx!
