I'm station in Guam and purchased At&T Galaxy S2 on E-bay. I used unlockedthatphone.com to unlocked the phone and rooted the phone using galaxts2root.com method. The problem that I'm having is that the phone is always roaming; if you go to settings, about phone, under status, it shows roaming when I know it's not. Is there a way I can make the phone think that it's not roaming?
version 2.3.4
base band I777UCPLC5
kernel version 2.6.35.7_ZedomaxStockKernel
build number Gingerbread.UCKH7
Here in Guam I'm with DOCOMO PACIFIC
So u paid someone to unlock the phone. When there's an app that does it for free on the Android market? That does suck.

This was the reason I posted the question...GUIDANCE..THX MotoMudder77. The thing is that I was under the impression that the phone was on roaming status because it was made for AT&T and if used on any other network it will show roaming.
So, you want me to unroot the phone and lock it? How do I do that?

So I unrooted the phone using 2a.) Flash the UCKH7-CL503881 stock kernel and system package using Odin3 One-Click Downloader (Windows) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313659) and did a factory reset. The only thing I can't do is to lock the phone back to AT&T sim cards, so pretty much the phone still unlocked. I still have the same problem, every time I pop that DOCOMO SIM card in and look at the phone status, it still shows roaming when I know that's not the case.
Do you think if a change the modem/radio it will go away?

You dont want to re-lock the phone, if thats even possible.
but being that your on a stock at&t ROM, the fact that your on a different carrier than at&t, the phone probably just thinks its roaming.
You could try an international ROM, if you hellraise it, or grab a ported one from the ported dev section.

I was able to locked the phone with samsung galaxy unlock app from the market and unlocked it with the same app. You are right, because the phone is on a different carrier than at&t it thinks that is roaming when we know it's not. I flashed Shostock2 v2.2.6 w/cherrypicker v1.1 and I still get the roaming status. Schostock2 is a i9100 ICS base rom but that didn't work, don't get me wrong I'm loving Shostock2 it's just annoying having that r right next to the signal bars.

Hello everyone,
I recently got an upgrade though Bell Mobility (in Canada) for a Samsung Galaxy S2. Its simply awesome, but I'm a newbie to the Android OS. I moved from an iPhone 4 and hence I have very less knowledge as to what is happening with the android OS rooting, updating etc.
So on to the main topic, I got my phone (model GT-I9100M) on 2.3.3 and the base band is I9100MUGKG2.
My battery is dying very quickly, i barely get 5-6 hours. Yes I'm new to the phone so i'm tweaking around a lot, but still - I think the problems are major. And I've read on some forums that its a bug in 2.3.3 and hence I wanted to know if I could update to 2.3.4?
And as far as rooting is concerned, I think I did a pretty good job. The instructions for rooting weren't that complicated at all. But now the online thing I'm wondering is how could I update to 2.3.4. On Samsung Kies it doesn't say there is any update for my device, and I understand its not officially out through my carrier but that is one of the reasons I rooted my phone. I did try reading all through the site, But i only am getting confused more and more everytime I read it. Its like I read that I cannot upgrade to 2.3.4 or else i'll lose my data connectivity, others I read its only for GT-I9100 and not GT-I9100M, etc etc.
So could anyone guide me though how I could update my firmware to 2.3.4 and still use the phone with my carrier? And also, I tried using various unlock apps on the android market after rooting the device, but it didn't see to work.
I will be constantly travelling and hence I need this phone to be unlocked, permanently if possible.
Could someone walk me through step by step as to how i could update my firmware to 2.3.4 and unlock the device Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
Have a nice day folks.
I am quite new to the SGS II too (used to have a Nexus S), but I´ll try to help...
From Google:
The CSC includes connection data for the broadband networks as well as apps that are only available in certain languages/intended for a specific area.
So, for your operator, you need this:
Canada Bell/Virgin BMCKG2 CSC: http://www.multiupload.com/RIE7ZLHIHG
From this thread; also, I didn´t find the 2.3.4 for Bell Canada there, but you can take a look.

At the moment there is no official 2.3.4 for Bell. If you want to update you will have to use Odin and flash one of the 2.3.4 firmware's found here.To unlock the phone you will need to root it first. To do this you will have to flash a cf-root kernel that matches the firmware you flashed. You can find that here. For example, if you flashed the XXKH3 firmware you need the XXKH3 cf root kernel. Once you have done this, download this app and run it to unlock the phone.

There are different unlock apps in the market but if you have the bell sgs2 use the one by helroz. I might freeze and reboot in the middle of the unlock process but it should still work. Have you tried using a different sim card to check if it's unlocked?

The unlock will remain even if you flash different firmwares. To re-lock the phone run the app again and from what i remember there is an option to "re-lock bytes" the option to restore the backup you made. Basically restoring the "locked" efs folder.

I do not have any phone or wireless network services available. I used ODIN 1.85, SuperOneClickv2.1.1-ShortFuse, and XWKDD_insecure.tar.
I had problems with the SuperOneClick a few time. Then I had to open two instances and one would go through the process. It installed superuser and what it needed. I then went and flashed the KDD_original.tar, and this is where I am now.

Darn... well I tried to flash my s2 but problems occured (such as application error forcing me to leave the application and a pop-up would show, or random shut downs). This made me to flash back to the stock Bell firmware, but even after that there seems to be some problems and also the bootloader logo is now changed to a i-9100 logo instead of a i9100m logo. If you want logo back then flash bell kernel and I do a full wipe. Your i9000m will be back. Actually if you had followed flashing instructions properly you would not have problems with 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 either.
You obviously need to learn more but here is a free tip. Don't even dream sending it for service to bell with i9000 logo! Or any traces of flashing. You would be better of if it was dead. That is unless you like to pay for out of warranty repairs.

Yep I tried everything.
1) download the firmware I want to use.
2) check kies and all of its applications are closed
3) turn phone off
4) take sim and memory card out
5) get it to download mode and insert usb
6) turn on odin and input all the downloaded files
7) start the odin program
8) once everything is downloaded and loading is complete on the sgs2 take the usb port out
9) finished!
These are the procedures I take.
Anything missing or should I correct?
And also, how do you change the bootloader?
PLEASE HELP.
And what other ways can Samsung detect that I flashed???

Do a factory reset. Then flash the orignal Bell firmware, kernel, modem and CSC. Downloads are listed in this thread. If you want to send it in for repair then you will then need to buy a $5 USB jig off ebay to reset the custom ROM counter before sending in for repair.

Hey guys Long time creeper first time poster.
Anyways i picked up a galaxy note yesterday that was bricked for about $175. The guy had soft bricked it recovery and download were still accessible so i simply used odin to reinstall stock rogers from Da_G's thread. The guy said he bricked it because he had a JB rom on there and wanted to go back to stock but odin froze and thats how the system bricked.
Anyways right now i have the system working and running Stock ICS from Rogers. The current issue i am facing is that there is some sort of issue with the signal. The device jumps between Virgin mobile(my provide) and emergency only. Constantly i cannot get a reliable signal on the phone. Calls constantly fail and messages rarely send.
I have tried flashing the stock radio for rogers from Da_G's thread as well but no luck. The apn is correct and ive tried turning LTE off, no success at all. Does anyone in the community have any suggestions this is a really frustrating problem!
Thanks

I went ahead and flashed this modem before you posted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679722&highlight=t-mobile+modem

Tried the stock Tmous modem same issue... any other suggestions. The phone will say its on the network but i just cant send anything. sometimes it will work for 20 mins then it will stop working for a while again.
So my aunt has am AT&T Galaxy Note on T-Mobile and I told the store she purchased the phone from to flash the T-Mobile radios so that she can get 4G HSPA+ but the device is stuck on gingerbread and I would really like to update it to stock Jellybean with Touchwiz? If I use Odin to flash the latest update will she lose her unlock? But then will it need to be unlocked now that T-Mobile has 4G LTE in Las Vegas? I figured all she would need to do is buy a new T-Mobile 4G LTE compatible SIM and then use that but I'm not sure. Can the new firmware be rooted and can it be unlocked if need be? Also, she broke the mirco-usb port so is there any way that I can flash to stock without the use of that port? I'm really sorry for all the questions but if anyone could answer them I would be very grateful.
If the usb port is broken, you won't be able to use Odin. Is the device rooted? If it is there is hope! If not, you're up the river without a paddle.

I know right but luckily the device is rooted and because the shop said they flashed the T-Mobile radios, I believe it has a custom recovery on it.
Whew! I'm glad to hear you're already rooted. You can forget about Odin now. Flashing roms ands modems thru recovery won't lose your unlocked SIM info. First thing I would do is update your recovery. Then you can flash a new JB rom. A lot of newer roms depend on TWRP recovery. You can find that here in the original android development section. Read carefully and follow the install via .zip way. Since you're on tmobile I'd read the post just before this one about JB and what modems are working best. I'm on at&t so I can't help you there. They also remark on what roms they are running. You can follow their lead, or check out all three available roms in the development selection. Again read the developers directions, and make sure the rom is for your device before you flash anything. Then enjoy!
I didn't see any mention of having installed a custom recovery. If the OP hasn't done that he can still update to the latest stock rom using Kies Air. He can get that from the app store.
Being rooted has nothing to do with any of this. Rom flashing only depends on having 1) a pc with Odin and a working usb port, or 2)having a custom recovery already installed.
Flashing a custom rom won't affect the radio you already have, but if you update to the JB stock rom it will flash the current baseband (modem).
Unlocking is permanent. No flashing can change that phone back to a locked state.
Yes, you need a 4G LTE sim card, but under even best conditions you will mostly see 4G only (HSPA+ ).
I might be wrong, but to use T-Mobile's LTE you have to use a stock AT&T Rom. I'm in Houston and we just got LTE here.

UCLF6, UCMB4, UCMD3 can all be used under ICS, JB custom roms. 4.0.4, 4.1.2, 4.2.2 or the likes. Cyanogenmod, paranoid, slim, padawan, it doesn't matter.
On anything but stock samsung you can *#*#4636#*#* into dialer then phone options to change between lte and wcdma or all. Also available under settings/mobile network/preference.
Those are the 3 most current modems with access to LTE. UCLF6 being from the official ICS last year.

I've been an android since tmobile.
That and being Computer/SmartPhone Technical Support....I constantly try to be in "the know".
Shoot I fix cars now and never changed my oil before 2 years ago.
I tried to update my I717 (AT&T) and have nothing but access to restore or download mode...it errored out, then I didn't do the emergency backup right away. When I tried to do it later, I get about 96% of the way done, and it errors out....

A lot of newer roms depend on TWRP recovery.

I don't think there is a dependence on which recovery you use but more of a recommendation. I've flashed many ROMs with CWM that the developer recommended using TWRP and they worked just fine. So, long as you do the procedure right, it doesn't matter what recovery you use.

OK this is very very simple. No need to unlock sim. Download a rom from whatever service provider ie... att tmobile. The only thing you need is for it to have an aroma installer format your memory put your new Sim card in flash then go and download new recovery for the phone ie.. 900t as your recovery is 900p after then find a stock rom flash new recovery then your new stock rom and poof profit 4g. New phone. Fckn magic and I am a novice who messed with everything everyone else said with no luck best was hspa. But it would always jump towers roam no signal blah blah. Now I feel like I have a new tmobile phone 28mbs download .is the lowest I have pulled.

Have you tried it. Then dont post on my thread what am I spamming a work around that will help ppl. Your sad my friend
so, where is your work, i have note 3 sprint and i want activate 4g in europe
OK so first off...Wow try to help ppl out. You guys r a bunch off asshats, I believe I explained in the first post how to do it. And the last guy that made a post did I say Europe international unluck. My obvious answer would be just follow the one of the other post because unless your staying their I don't even know what carriers they have. But to domestically turn your sprint phone into lets say att or tmobile ir verizon. All notes have same hardware inside the only different is the locked bands you can't use. So I am going to try and make this simple as I can.
1... ROOT
2.... INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERY
3.... DOWNLOAD A ROM WITH AN AROMA INSTALL AS THIS WILL LET IT BYPASS THE CHECK FOR THE CORRECT PHONE BECAUSE AS OF THIS POINT YOUR CUSTOM RECOVERY IS SUPPOSE TO ONLY FLASH 900P ROMS.. THE AROMA BYPASSES THIS.
4........INSTALL THE ATT...TMOBILE... ROM IT PROBABLY WON'T BE STOCK BUT ONE
5...... REBOOT.
6.....Now YOUR PHONE Is T-mobile or att.
Nit finished though
7..... Download a CUSTOM recovery for the company you switched. to I.e....twrp 2.8.7. 900t
8..... Now you can stop or what I did just to make sure things went smooth when completing the switch I installed a stock rom called the company bam
NO SIM CARD ERRORS AND FULL 4G
AS YOU ARE USING THEIR SETUP UNBLOCKED THEIR BANDS THE ONLY WAY TO TELL THIS WAS NOT THAT COMPANY PHONE IS THE IMEI STARTING wITH 99 and the frame under the battery Haz it mark.
FLASH WHATEVER ROM YOU LIKE AFTER THAT .
PLEASE STOP ACTING AS THOUGH I DID SOMETHING WRONG TRY, RECORD IT I JOHN BEIL WILL BUY YOU A NEW PHONE IF IT DOESN'T WORK. BUT WHEN YOU FIND THAT I FOUND THE EASY WORKAROUND SECRET DONATE THANK AND SHARE TOY STORY PLEASE & THANK YOU

Ok, re read again your instructions.
Flashed the stockish lollipop T-Mobile rom.
I am all ready Sim unlocked, so can't address the sim unlock.
It seems the T-Mobile rom shows the 4G icon when connected as UMTS.
Speed test shows the same 2.5 megs. I get all ready, on any other Rom.
My Verizon phone with the same Sim gets 4 times the speed on LTE.
Thanks for working on this!

First off, thank you for this thread! I have two questions. What about getting it to work with Straight Talk? Also, what 5.0 ROM did you use that had the Aroma installer.
Just pick onone you like they will tell you if he use aroma on the first page. And yes it will work for straight talk

Yes but the only one I can find is 4.4.2 and I am on 5.0. Is it okay to downgrade to kitkat? Didn't know if it might brick it or not. Just flashed a Tmobile ROM N900TUVUFOB6-frequentc, ROM for the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3 frequentc but it didn't have AROMA installer.

Yeah so I've been flashing ROMS for quite some time. In fact I use multiboot on my Nexus 6 but anyway. I have 2 Note 3s and just bricked one of them when I flashed the wrong recovery in Flashify. I am going to try and restore it with ODIN and I hope it works. I flashed Darklord's Note 5 port which was absolutely stunning till I killed the phone with the wrong TWRP recovery. The phone had the SIM not valid in another language so I'm guessing flashing the right recovery would have made it work for T-mobile. Anyway, this will be my first brick after all of these years. My other Note is booting now and I hope the T-mobile and Straight Talk sims work. If per chance it does, I can then flash the Darklords ROM and still have service? I ask because you said you can go ahead and flash any ROM you like. Edit: I am having a hard time getting this to work. Is there any way you could just tell me what particular ROM you used because now I tried the Kitkat ROM and it will not boot. Please help. Thanks!
Ok follow the directions next time I don't know if you can Odin because of adb, but Samsung has an app, don't use flashify for this use twrp don't download a T-Mobile recovery till after u flash the aroma ROM then flash T-Mobile recovery then any T-Mobile rom

I completely understand that but can you please link me to the ROM you used or any Lollipop ROM that works? I ask because I cannot find ONE with Aroma installer for T-mobile that is 5.0. The kit kat ROM I just installed is stuck on the Samsung boot animation and won't boot.
