Galaxy ace charging port question... - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Okay this one is simple, for someone who has change the charging port on a galaxy ACE. Is the charging port the same on a Galaxy ACE than it is for the rest of the Galaxys, i ask because i used a T959v port on a Galaxy ACE, phisically they look pretty much the same. In fact, perfect fit! But after a very clean install for some reason the phone is not charging and i dont know why?? So my guess is that even though they look alike its not the same configuration. If someone has done this before please let me know...

To me it's like if the charger fits in the phone then it'll charge
I sometimes use BB charger and it works
Be kind everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

yes it should work, sometimes i use the htc charger of my girlfriend to charge my ACE
when it fits perfectly then it should charge or you have to reboot maybe this will solve the problem

OKay thanks guys but im talking about the internal pin layout. Thing is that i have lots of galaxys t959v and i9000 ports. As far as im concerned it fits on the infuse, captivate, vibrant and the already mention galaxys. When i opened this 5830L i found out that as far as the eye can see the port is the same one also. So i changed it, it fits pretty clean, in fact it looks like stock but the phone wont charge. For some reason Galaxys charging ports have 7 total pins. Its the only phone as far as i can remember that has that many pins. Since the regular USB port is 5 pin configuration my guess is that the Galaxys have at least 2 pins that are jumpered inside the small plastic that protects the pins. So my question is, since i have used a new t959v usb port, could it be that the pinout layout for the 5830 is not the same than t959v?? Like i said, they look the same and fit the same but maybe, just maybe the 7pin configuration is different...

Give it a try
TRY DIFFERENT CHARGERS. Even though it ''fits'' It still might not charge.
I've had this problem in the past.
Give it a go.
Hope this helps

I have no personal experience in this but i would suggest you to find the part for the galaxy ace and the T959v for comparson. There might be some hint in the model number, maybe...

[Q] Charger Not Working for Note

I've got 4 different car chargers that *used* to work for my Note. I know they worked, because I did quite a bit of work over the last year which required the use of the GPS on my phone. Each one is > 1A. However, recently they've all stopped working for my Note. I've tested them using a Galaxy S3 and a Desire HD, and the chargers appear to charge the other phones just fine.
I seem to have no problems with AC or the computer charger it however. I've also taken the same USB cable I've used on the AC/computer and plugged it in to 3 of my car chargers, still no luck. Any ideas?
Your charge port needs to be replaced. If you're still under warranty, get it replaced. Otherwise there is a guide around here to DIY replacement I think..
I think we need more info. Since the phone charges at home the first suggestion is not helpful. The port is fine or it wouldn't charge at home. What ROM are you using? Did you try flashing a different ROM to test the charger in car? What were the results?
get a toothpick and make sure the metal in the port isnt touching any metal , then try , these ports in samsung phones are cheap , my wp7 focus had this happen , if it doesnt work ,its easy to solder it back in place , just open it up and make sure the solder is correct!

The day after my post the AC charger stopped working with my phone as well. So after trying a couple more chargers, I took it into AT&T and got it replaced under warranty. However, since my wife and I both have the Galaxy Note, I may have to replace one in the future. Just in case someone needs it..

There's the video for replacing the usb port. Thanks for the help!

Non-functioning micro-USB port

Hi,
So my battery stopped charging all of a sudden, and got drained and died. Since then, I've swapped batteries with a friend's S3 (US version, whereas mine in International), discovered that my battery's charging fine in their phone, and their battery isn't in mine, and I've concluded that my phone's micro-USB port might be damaged. I've tried both charging via wall and PC, with the charger that came with my S3, my friend's S3, and an old Samsung phone of mine (Samsung Jet). No computer detecs the phone when it is connected to it either. So my conclusion is pretty solid, right?
What can I do? I am in the US, and my phone is under warranty in Singapore, but I don't wanna ship it out for repairs.
1) Should I troubleshoot more to diagnose the problem or do you agree with my reasoning?
2) Can I get the micro-USB port replaced somewhere at minimal cost?
Thanks guys!

Had the same problem with my note. Just cleaned the port with a tooth pick (especially under that tight spot).

I'm amazed but it actually worked. I tried it the first day my phone stopped charging, and lots of fluff came out, but it wouldn't charge still, so I started thinking cleaning wouldn't help. But I tried again and again, actually going for ALL the tiniest bits of fluff instead of juust the big ones, and in the end it did work. Amazing, and thank god I didn't start unsoldering the micro-USB from the PCB. Thank you!

My new dock

Just thought I'd share this to fellow i777 owners. Not my auction, just passing along a good deal
http://www.ebay.com/itm/40023632305...l?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=400236323051&_rdc=1
While I knew the i9100 stuff usually worked ok for us, I thought I'd test out one of these. Great fit, silly cheap, does what I need. Grabbed one for the office and another one on the way for the nightstand.
I plan to buy one as well but the one for 30 bucks which comes with a spare battery and hdmi cable
Sent from my SGH I777 running Jellybam 6.3.0
Wish I saw this earlier. I m about to upgrade my phone. Thanks for sharing though.
dock it
it looks pretty nice , i am going to buy one too but choosing still between two different ones
2nd battery
nice find, but how would one know when the external battery is done charging?
Does it stop charging the phone after its full, for a time?
Can you push agains the phone while its on?
Nice find thanks. I need something like this.
I read abt the original dock cradle, that it roughs up the bezel on the sides..
How about this one ??
Is this compatible by size with i777? I thought i777 is little bigger, than i9100.
Thanks for info!
Sorry guys for not following the thread and replying.
The i777 is slightly bigger than the i9100, but not much. This is one of those times where the "just a little off" 3rd party stuff works out to our advantage.
I haven't really used the spare battery charger part yet, so not sure when it knows to be "off"
I use one at home on my nightstand strictly for charging, one at work for hooking into my pc. No problem with data connection and as long as you're not being heavy handed, you can style use the touchscreen while docked.

Dock?

I am using the dock I got for my note 1 almost 2 years ago for this behemoth. It fits, and works, but it's got a slight wobble from not having a flat bottom like the Note had. I also feel like the phone shouldn't hang over every edge of it's dock. Muffin top is not a becoming look.
Anybody know of a decent dock that won't make me sad in the wallet?

Samsung Galaxy Mega Docks Ebay
Hi
My question is whether Multimedia Smart Dock EDD-S20EWEGSTD will match Galaxy Mega GT-i9205 ?
Propably should work, it has the same 11-pin connector at Note 2, SGS 3 and SGS 4 .
This corresponded to what I can connect to the dock . I read on the net that works well with Note 8.0 , it would be for me to purchase a universal . Only new Galaxy Note 3 Others have looked like a connector USB 3 available in portable drives as if consisting of two parts . That him certainly will not be fit, but it would not buy a shame because the money for the stylus and the programs that and so I did not use . The size of the Mega scares me a little but I think about it more and more, and probably this week I'll go and get him to the store replaced by Note 8 which I forgave her daughter and well-worn SGS II.
Maybe someone tried to effect the Dock of the Galaxy Mega?
If so, please provide all the links, images and videos on the topic .
Ps.: Mega ordered in white reception on Tuesday.
I could not resist This mega cool phone that up dreaming up all night
Had only one item on display because that was no longer mine.
I can verify that the mega works fine with the note 2 smart dock. I watched some videos last night using it.I haven't tried the usb capabilities yet but I'm assuming they would work done.

Ive been testing these dock in Samsung's outlet with 2 old usb 2.0 HDDs (flash type ones), and EDD-S20EWEGSTD showed itself from a bad side at least with one of them, it couldnt supply enough power to feed it up. So as i remember, I was forced to coneect it using additional Y cable to dock and to another additional usb power port (from one another adapter) to make it finally working .... whatta ff*uck?! #1

i have the dock my self, first time i connected it didnt work(scared the hell out of me, cause i've readed something about different versions of the dock) but after i rebooted my phone it worked excelent. still using it.
specs are: 720p video output and the good thing about it is that its charging with 2a charger instead of being stocked with 500ma from an mhl cable.
when you connect wireless mouse/keyboard, the screen of the mega(i9205 i have) goes black and the screen output goes landscape.
people say audio jack doesnt work.. dont believe it thats BULLS**T. look at settings > accessory of youre phone and then check "Audio Output Mode" box to get audio from the jack.
if you have any further questions about information on the dock just pm me ill will get to ya as soon as possible
PS. i found the image on XDA Forums so pls dont blame me for using pictures or whatever, its just for helping purposes.
What about battery discharge rate during use of hdmi function? How is its max 720 p on a big screen? Im using a copy of et-10fau adapter mhl2.0 and it's output is 1080p 60fps. And battery discharge rate is close to 4-5% per hour...

i've got it from a second hand(used by someone else) but its already confirmed that its working.
you can also order on ebay(but be sure its the original samsung one with 11 pins)
EDD-S20 E WEGST D looks as quite obsolete because of its mhl. Its worth to find EDD-S20 J WEGST A. Comparing video output its 720 vs 1080p. And as it is later product = less risks with it.

[Q] Samsung Charging dock EDD-D200BEGSTD

So I bought this dock because I needed a dock badly for my Moto X, and because it seemed robust and had the micro USB facing the right way. The guy in the store goes like "Well I can't guarantee it will work..." and I go like "It's okay, I'm sure it will work since it has the right contacts and such, I'm willing to take a risk".
Of course it does not work.
It was about 40 dollars, so not a huge deal but I am so f*cking annoyed by not knowing why it doesn't work
It fits perfectly and so on, but just nothing happens. Now the reason I am posting in this forum is because it says "Galaxy SIII" on it, and I figured you of all people would know about any special properties on that phone. I read somewhere that the pins are different, is that correct? In what way?
I've tried connecting it to both a computer and a wall charger.
Is there an easy solution to this (like buying a samsung usb cable) or is the only solution to smash it with a hammer and never buy Samsung again?

Thanks for the heads-up. Saved me trying this. I understand Samsung put resisters on their USB ports to interact with their phones - I can't confirm this. It would explain why it doesn't work. I wish my old Droid dock didn't have an HDMI connector in the way so that I could just use it.
