No. This update has not been announced by Nokia. It's only available for Chinese Markets, where the devices have Tango by default.

Hi all, is it possible to flash a branded Nokia Lumia 800 with generic unbranded firmware? if so how would i go about doing so, thanks for any help.
Adam.
Moved to Nokia Lumia 800 General
This is a device specific question. Not in the WP7 development section please.
Please refer to the read before posting sticky for guidelines.

I'm afraid it's impossible for now...

Fortunately Three didn't do anyof that, nokia blue is still present.
Another route instead of flashing is to be a developer. This is how I got rid of T-Mobile Branding on my Omnia 7 by flashing the Mango Beta. I assume they will release a Tango Beta in the same way to developers and you'll be able to flash that to your phone and have a generic rom.

Thanks for the info, I still have the "Blue" theme unless there's 2 blue colors on the generic Lumis 800 ROM?

Yeah there's blue and Nokia Blue.
AFAIK there's room for 1 custom colour. Nokia have used that space for Nokia Blue but if networks want their colour on the phone the only option they have is to replace Nokia Blue, default colours can't be replaced and they can't add another one.
I suspect that Phoenix will do. At the moment there is no cracked Phoenix, which supports the RM-801, RM-803, RM-809, RM-819. You have to wait and see.
There's a Debranding app I think if you're chevron unlocked. Take a look at that.

There is a discussion in the Lumia Development section about Debranding. There is a version 5 of Nokia Care Suite which is supposed to allow flashing of Lumia but for some reason the software isn't allowing us to...

Nokia Care Suite is a poorer version of the Phoenix. I always used to use Phoenix to such things. It seems to me that the Nokia Care Suite, you can only upload the firmware for the phone Product Code. Otherwise, the program doesn't see the firmware.

Okay fair enough.
Is this version working? (Phoenix Service Software 2011.46.002.47246 Cracked & Original)
No. This version of the Phoenix still doesn't support Nokia Lumia 710/800. We have to wait until January or February and then to be Phoenix, which supports Lumia

So I have the UK version which is the 801, it clearly states 900/1900/2100 UMTS bands. Just wondering if I can get a known firmware version with 850 band support and flash it on the UK version i have. could it possible allow the 850 band to work? Seeing how I dont think nokia would opt to manufacture two different hardware version of the Lumia 800

I'm pretty sure they are literally different hardware models so no I don't think you could flash another type of firmware.

Just curious what is your reasoning for why you believe it's different hardware?

Nokia confirms Lumia 710, 800 to be knighted with mobile hotspot 'soon'!!

Found this on engadget! YAY!
"If you've poured over the specs of Nokia's Lumia 710 and 800 handsets during the last few months, you've likely noticed the duo's lack of mobile hotspot functionally. Of course, the Finnish phone maker didn't completely abandoned the feature in Windows Phone, as the ability to turn your device into a portable access point will ship with its flagship Lumia 900 and the recently announced 610 at launch. Nokia admitted that the feature would be coming to the 800 months ago, and now Elop & Company have announced that the 710 is also on the shortlist. A recent Q&A post on its Connects blog explained that software updates will be "coming soon" -- by way of Zune update -- to remedy the discrepancy between the old and new. No word on what Nokia's definition of "soon" is, but you can find all the available details at the source link below."
yea its been sometime since this was announced, plus panorama, camera effects and later on pureview technology.
Well, "soon" was supposed to happen in January. They are 2 months late already.
Better late than never and i think it will be available when newest update hits EU
The hotspot and the new camera feature probably arrive in April with "Tango" update.
I received an update notice today ! When I got home plugged into latptop, fired up Zune. The update took about 10 minutes, but I don't know what the update is? There is no tethering ? I went through all settings and just don't know what this update was.
Edit: the update was this - 7.10.8107.79
only fixes some minor issues, no tethering
Is nokia 710 hotspot, tethering or internet sharing available yet? Today is April 21, 2012....still waiting...

My guess is that it will come with the 12120 firmware. For the 710 there ar already roms available at navifirm. The 800C (chinese version) also has 12120 fw in the repository as of now.

[Q] Lumia 800 and tethering

Hi people,
I read lots of news and topic but there is no clear info yet.
Has lumia 800 tethering or not?
This is really important for me. I will decide to buy it or not buy accordingly.
Tethering
Yes, with the new Tango update, it has internet Tethering, you can go on and buy it, it's a great device, and you can believe, i tried many WP7 before, this one is THE WP7 that we were expecting.
To be technically correct, while tethering seems to be included in the Tango update, it is not yet available in most countries.
To my knowledge, Nokia has not released any official statement regarding this. So, there is no guarantee that tethering will be included in every version of the Tango update.
Nokia has stated in their official support forums as well as in multiple interviews that tethering is coming via a future update.

Question about buying lumia 800 in a foreign country

Hello everyone
I will probably buy a nokia lumia 800 in malaysia during my holidays and i would like to know when i will be back home ( in france) if i will able to upgrade the firmware of my nokia lumia with french version without brick the phone .
At the first time, i wanted to buy Samsung galaxy S2 but i have seen that there are some problem about firmware upgrade .
Thanks you :cyclops:
I bought mine in India and using it here in Germany. Even updated to Tango. I guess the update is device specific meaning mine is RM-801 tied to India. Irrespective of whichever part of the world you are only if the update is released for the country of mobile origin (in my case India) you can update
BTW i force updated my Lumia 800 to Tango using Zune
