I have been running liberty for a couple weeks and I'm loving it, but I was just wondering about the battery percentage. When I unplug from my dock in the morning it is usually at 99 or 100, but after about 10 minutes of use it is back down to 96, and then slowly goes down from there. I still have 75 some days with only light use, 50 or 40 with moderate/heavy, is this accurate, or is there really no way to tell exactly how much battery I have left with this ROM?

Ok so Here's the deal
When I flash a rom I charge the phone till it hits 100%. I then reset the battery stats and go on about my day. With in a few minutes of being off the charger my battery has now dropped down to about 96 %. I do realize that batteries do not stay at 100% but this is crazy. I've only deep cycled my battery once for fear that it may damage my battery.
I Am using Teamwhiskeys ultra awesome bionix-v rom with ttabals oc kernal. I know I am to expect a slightly more rapid drain but this is crazy. I have even tried to lower the vcore and I slowed down the cpu to 800mhz. It still drains just as fast.
The odd thing to me is If i turn my phone off and let it fully charge to 100 percent reset stats then turn on phone It will show full for a minute then drop down to to 96 or 95 percent.
I personally think my battery is damaged but spare parts shows that it is ok.
So i am rather confused by this .
I know I should probably use the stock kernal but it seems like its just as bad with that.
I have looked at the threads about battery life and I am not expecting it to be amazing just hoping it will be ok!

mt battery play tricks on me too when my phone doesent see that im lookin at it it shows 90 when i look at it and phone notice it bounces to 85 like it hates me , lol but dont take my words for it P
Spare parts would show that too. I remember when I had my G1 spare parts would tell me it was fine. But a 3 hour full battery doesn't seem fine does it? Id suggest getting it replaced.

Ill probably nurse it... but I am having major ocd type problems about it.
I cannot stress this part enough, so I'm putting at the top, do not do the following often, as it can have a negative effect on Li batteries if done too much.
You want to try what is known as a bump charge. With your phone off, charge to 100 percent. You will see the green battery icon with "100" on it once it reaches full. Unplug from the charger for a minute, then plug it back in, phone still off, and let it reach 100 again. If you want you can do this a third time, do keep in mind, bump charging too much or with any type of frequency can have negative effects on your battery, but doing it once in a great great while helps with with what you are experiencing.

There is one thing you are messing up. If you flash your phone on a 100% charge then you DO NOT need to wipe battery stats. You only have to wipe battery stats if you flash when your battery is not at 100%!

It's not out of the ordinary for a battery indicator to show a few percent drop rather quickly on a LiIon battery. Secondly you should take a battery indicator with a rather large grain of salt. Expecting precision in single digit percentages from the indicator is unrealistic and nearly impossible to rely on given the nature of discharge of a battery. Batteries do not charge or discharge in a linear manner, and people do not use battery powered devices in a linear way either.
It is a visual guide, not a precise and accurate indicator. Many custom roms have a percent accurate indicator, but don't mistake this with being dead-on accurate. It is merely an attempt to make it a BETTER visual GUIDE.
To evaluate battery life properly is moderately time consuming, though rather obvious. Use your device as you would normally. Pay attention to how long it stays charged. If it's not staying alive for a reasonable amount of time (12-24 hours depending on what you are doing of course), then it's time to dig deeper. Apps that wake up and generate unnecessary Partial Wake usage, a lot of background application syncing or apps with short sync intervals, being in an area with poor data/voice signal....these are the usual culprits.
Apart from situations where people are playing around with experimental kernels (i9000 derived kernels tend to vampirically drain battery a few percent an hour regardless), the things that drain your battery are....things that "use" your phone. The more you do (and the more your phone is doing with your permission while it's in your pocket) the less battery you will have.
In the end it comes down to asking yourself some questions. Do you need to automatically update facebook, myspace, twitter feeds constantly when you can manually update them and be inconvenienced by a 10-20 second wait? Do you really need to update 35 rss feeds in Google Reader?
Most people's power related issues come down to three things.
1). Apps that wake up without your knowledge and waste battery for no good reason (I'm looking at you Media Hub!!)
2).All those other apps and widgets that are updating inside your pocket when your not reading, watching, or caring about them.
3). Being in an area with poor data/voice signal, forcing your phone to "hunt" excessively for a better connection.
Apps that wake up and do god knows what without your knowledge can either be removed, disabled, or frozen. Examining partial wake usage can give you insight into what may be going on in that scenario. Apps can be "Frozen" with Titanium Backup Pro (paid) or App Freezer (free).
The other part that is within your control are all the apps/widgets you actively use, and your decisions about how often (or even if) they update themselves.
So I have narrowed down why my battery dies even when I'm not using my phone...for some reason when I look at the stats under battery usage, the battery seems to be awake almost 60 to 70 percent of the time, EVEN when I'm not using the phone...my battery lasted a total of 15 hours...I made a 20 minute phone call and screen usage was 25 minutes on lowest settings....4g was on wifi was on...automatic background data was off...gps on....everything else was off....why is the phone waking when it is not being used???? any way to find out?

Have you tried restarting your phone and then tracking the battery usage?
Just my .02 here, I installed Earth HD live wallpaper and the phone went crazy. I keep it plugged into my laptop during the day and noticed that the battery was slowly draining instead of maintaining, not much only a couple of percent. Toward the end of the day I noticed the the battery charge was in the 50% range and dropping fast, you could see the go down so I did a reboot and the charge came back at 4%. So you may want to look at what you have installed and try removing apps that may cause issues. I removed the app and now no problems, I'm also using Beastmod.
I've now had the I717 Note for a month or so, and coming off the Streak, it has been hard to wean myself off the "charge at every available chance" behavior that the Streak has taught me. After the first week of fully cycling the battery (100 percent to shut off a few times to "teach" the phone) I reverted back to my old Streak ways of plugging it in every chance I've gotten.
However, the last few days I've been avoiding charging at every turn, and just letting it ride. And, I've noticed something odd in the reported battery percentage. I'm on the stock ROM, rooted, with a big letter status bar widget that numerically reports battery percentage, as well as running Batt Stat on all home screens. And, in the last couple days, when I leave the phone for a while and don't use it, both battery status devices (and indeed, as it turns out, the built-in stock device) I see more percentage remaining after a few hours of non use than was reported when I put the thing down.
The first few days I figured I was nuts. But I started writing it down to make sure. And, yesterday and today in the 3 times I put it down, didn't get a call, and didn't play with it, I noticed the following: Call ended, percentage remaining: 75 percent. Two hours later (ish) check email, 76 percent. Call received, 65 percent. Hour and a half later: 67 percent. And, just now, call made: 27 percent. Hour later, after not being able to sleep: 28 percent.
Anyone else notice weird increase of reported battery percentage with what I'd call extended periods of non-use?
Bonus question... anyone got a theory about what's happening here? I mean, I did like 5 full charge/full dead cycles... the ROM should know by now (I'd think) what the battery charge state is.
Happens on a lot of phones.. the battery usage graph and % remaining at the top indicate an estimate of what your percentage is/should be based on your current usage. As you stated you noticed this increase after not using the phone, it is adjusting itself because you went from a period of use to a period of non-use.

Interesting. Never noticed it on my Streak.
But then, that thing would die in minutes it sometimes seemed... lol.
Hey guys the more i use my note daily it seems I'm hating battery life already. I basically have all features turned off and the screen brightness at its lowest. my battery usage is saying about 2 hours and 45 mins of screen on time till completely dead over an 8 hour period. What's the usual you guys are seeing on this. For only actually using the phone for about 3 hours with no games or special notifications or refreshes. Wifi is off I'm under clocked to 1.1. The battery is atrocious. I know its not made for battery life but being it has a larger battery then any cell and a little smaller then the razr Maxx i expect a little more. Makes me think there is a problem.

A couple of things come to mind:
1) Have you checked CPU spy to make sure you're going into deep sleep? (are you aware of the bug with disconnecting the charger while the phone is sleeping?)
2) Are you in an area with LTE and WiFi most of the day? I know it's opposite of what we're used to, but we've learned that the WiFi radio actually uses far less power than the LTE radio. Just something to think about.
Just some thoughts.
When mine goes into deep sleep I loose 1% per hour (wifi off, data on). I agree you need to get CPU Spy to be sure yours is going to sleep. When the charge wakelock problem occurs I'll loose 3% per hour - that adds up to 1/3 of the total battery during a 12 hour day. The work-around so far is to make sure you wake the phone AND unlock it before unplugging it. Most people only seem to have a problem with non-stock chargers and charging from USB ports.
The single biggest battery user is the screen. I highly recommend using Screen Filter and setting up a Widget set to 75% to use indoors and during cloudy days (then another Widget set to 30% for dark rooms - and turn it completely off for full sun). LED screens use less energy the darker they are, which is why this helps. I go into it in detail here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544757
Then there is the overnight charging problem (not related to the issue in the first paragraph). Once the phone hits 100% it only trickle charges for a little while. You know when the trickle charge has ended because that's when the "unplug me" nag comes up if your phone is on, or the screen comes back on for a few seconds showing a full battery icon if the phone is off. Once this happens it stops charging - so if your battery was almost full the night before you could hit this stage by 12 or 1 am, then it will start to run down again so the next morning it will appear to discharge fairly rapidly. If your phone is heavily discharged the night before you might not hit this point until 3-4 am (or later if you are using a non-stock charger or USB port), so the battery really will be nearly full the next morning and it won't appear to discharge as fast. The only way to get around the problem is to boot in the morning and then leave it plugged in for 15-30 minutes, or if it is already on, unplug and then re-plug it. Either way it will re-start the charging process and top off properly. The stock charging algorithm is just too conservative IMO. It should cycle the trickle charge mode on and off for up to 8 hours to ensure overnight charges really give you a full battery the next day, and not a battery that is only 96% full. Right now it allows the battery to drain back to 95% before automatically starting the charge process over. So ironically the less you use your phone the day before the less battery you'll have the next day if you don't top it off.
I'm going into deep sleep immediately if i leave my phone off the charger over night prolly 6-8 hours I'll only lose maybe 3 percent at most with wifi on. My standby time is awesome its my on screen time that's the problem. I don't have lte available where i live yet. My phone is always at 98 percent max after charging. I did check out a screen filter before but do i seriously need for my 750 dollar phone to look like sh*t to make it through a day? I jumped from a 4s to here where i got at least 20 standby and 6 plus hours screen time before charging with medium auto brightness full notifications enabled. Granted it is a smaller screen but its also smaller battery with what i would think is more draining data features. I thought led screens were supposed to draw a lot less power? My basic reason for the post is wanting to know what everyone else was concluding from average use of screen time before needing a charge. 3 hours of screen time is like two movies and my phone is dead. What's the point of a big screen cell if i always need to charge it after light use every few hours. Its basically a tv at that point which is always plugged in.

Which is why I recommended Screen Filter. It doesn't make your screen look like crap, applying a light filter (like the 75% I recommended) just dims it down a little. It works along with the stock auto-brightness feature, too. Using this I get 4 hours of screen time with 15-16 hours total run time. Most people report 3-3 1/2 hours of screen time w/o using Screen Filter. You won't get 6 hours - count the number of pixels on your old phone compared to this one.
With no tweaks other than lowering the brightness I'm averaging right at 4hrs of screen time.

i get about 4-3 hours of screen time with my overall screen time ranging from 10-16 hours depending on what else im am doing.
i also have profiles set up to keep my cpu in check while in call or screen off. i keep my phone on 100% brightness ALL the time as well. so if i did choose to dim it i could probably squeeze more life out of it.
Ya I'm at 27 percent right now 13 hours on battery about 2 hours of screen time with screen filter at 64 percent the phone brightness all the way dim. I can't see 4 hours if i tried. I dunno what the hell is wrong. What roms are you guys running? Any refreshes on face book tango scramble with friends etc. i lost about 5 percent over night with everything on. I'm using go launcher and handcent sms mostly occasional Facebook checks and fancy weather widget i use system tuner on demand 192-1.5. with screen off on 192-718 max and call settings. I drop like a percent like every 2 mins it seems when the screen is on. Also I'm on unofficial alpha 2

i am in stock rom 2.3.6
i am facing a problem with battery charging
it is draining really very fast
last recharge lasted for 3 hrs
now i got a wierd problem when i put into charger it got back to 100 percent within 10 min unplugged it and when i start using it went down to 63 percent within 8 min

Looks like your battery's life is coming to an end. Check with a different battery (maybe from a friend), if it is the battery you can try these:
-Bump charge: charge to 100, turn it Off without unplugging, wait till it says it's 100 charged and turn it on, wait till it says 100 charged and Off again, repeat a couple of Times.
-Freeze it: Leave it in your phone till it runs dry (when your phone doesn't go past the galaxy ace logo and turns Off). Wrap the battery in plastic, put it in the freezer a while (an hour maby, not too much or it will die), take it out, let it sit there at ambient temperature, put it in your phone and charge to 100.
