I was wondering if anyone else noticed that some youtube content says 3D and even displays side by side preview images but still plays in 2D.
Is this a bug? My youtube app doesn't have a play in 3D function like the video player so I can't toggle it. It just looks like a standard 2D video.
Any ideas?. Is this due to me not taking the OTA?
some videos work, some don't.
3D Youtube not 3D
Yes, I noticed this today. In fact, a couple of 3D videos I watched yesterday on youtube that showed up in 3d, are only in 2D today...hmmmm.
Can you view 3D movies in Moboplayer? When I hit the hard menu button, it just locks or unlocks the screen. Is there any way to toggle between 2D and 3D besides on the stock video player?
Nobody uses Moboplayer?
i use it and so far from every option that i've seen you can't as of now. maybe in a later update. oh and menu only locks the screen when a vid is playing
Interesting. Someone in another thread said they were able to view 3D movies but I couldn't find that option anywhere. I really like Moboplayer but that's kind of a deal breaker for me.

I love it too...
But really, for 3d, the stock player works just fine.
You're going to want to convert the videos anyway (most 3d stuff is HUGE without the conversion) and looks great in the stock player.
Mobo works well for your non-3d stuff on the 3vo.

Yea, I've been converting them using Handbrake and most of my full length movies on my 3vo average around 1-1.4 GB.
The stock player is fine but I absolutely love the gestures controls on Moboplayer.
yea the gestures are great. it is easier to fast forward or rewind instead of skipping all over using the little bar crap lol.
So I used mono the other day and happened to click a 3d video and it played in 3d. I haven't checked any actual movies it was just a video I had recorded. Just like to say that incase anyone still cares.

So I know this thread is ancient but how did you get Moboplayer to play a 3D video in 3D?
Nearly all players play 3D, but only if you filmed them with the phone. 3DBD SBS movies work only on 3DVPlayer.

By 3DVPlayer, do you mean the stock video player?

Wasn't the reason other players didn't play 3d video because the meta data that indicates its a 3d video is missing? That would make sense to me because the 3d movies I have don't haven't they 3d label in Gallery and need to be told to play in 3d. Whereas the videos recorded by the phone have the label and are automatically in 3d. I bet adding the proper meta data will resolve that. Haven't tried playing with anything yet but I think I saw someone else suggest the meta data idea before too.

MX video player is my favourite player for all off my 3D movies and it has gesture mode.

moboplayer does play in 3D for me. on ICS at least.
but: you have to play it in 3D in the default player first. then press Home to go back out. Play any video with any other player and it will still be in 3D. Even your camera when set to 2D will be in "3D". This is more of a bug than a solution though. But you'll be able to play 3D videos on any player.
If you want to restore functionality back to your 2D camera (because it still thinks it is in 3D mode) set the default video player to play any video in 2D again and it will be fine.

Ah...that's why my camera was acting wonky after watching a movie in 3D. Is this bug present in Sprint's stock ICS or just in custom ICS roms?

MX Video Player, found on Market for free, plays the 3D videos in 3D on the Evo 3D that have been shot by the built in camera, the Amaze 0.11 3D camera and the Green Hornet 3D trailer.
No luck with an avi file that I have in side-by-side format, there is no 3D button to press to force it in 3D mode for non-compliant 3D videos.

Thank you to iconias for pointing this out in the 3D apps category.
Best thing I found to play your 3d side by sid, that I been using for couple weeks is 3DVplayer. It is fantastic. Blows stock app out of the water. Increases the effectiveness of 3d. Not to mention how smooth it runs.

if you already have a 3d video downloaded from youtube use bsplayer. it plays all formats.
if you want to watch some chinese 3d video download 3dvplayer.only mp4 format.
Hi All
Just acquired an Evo 3d here in the UK
4.0.3 sense 3.6 which i assume is updated stock
All working fine except for a few glitches
If using 3d for a while then switch to 2d in the camera the camera view seems to sometimes get stuck in a messed up 3d mode
Almost like in 3d mode with the alignment miles out
This is just the camera viewfinder view It still takes a 2d picture ok but the only way to get back to a proper 2d camera view seems to be to restart the phone.
Also tried to playback avatar 3d with bsplayer
Bsplayer played it side by side but if i then go to the gallery and play avater 3d with the stock video player and touch the 3d button it plays in 3d.
Pause that and go back to bsplayer and it also plays in 3d
The same thing seems to happen with mobo player and mx player
Is there a way to switch these players to 3d without having to trick them
Stu
I'm not sure about the first question, but I think that the stock player is the only one (or one of the only ones) that can switch the phone to 3D correctly.
The built-in video records 3d mp4 files, with side-by-side frames. I have tried some video rippers (e.g. DVDFab9) & converters that produce the same thing, but they appear as side-by-side frames, not 3d. What is missing?
Have tried both the built-in video player and MX Player (which properly plays the recorded 3d videos)
Addendum: the native player will play a side-by-side video as 3d if you force it into 3d mode.
Still ... it will recognize the videos recorded by the evo 3d as 3d without forcing it, and the MX Player will too (and it does not have a "force play as 3d" button).
