Hey guys I was wondering how many of you would like to have me make videos of the note and review all of the rooms I can. If you guys want me to then tell me and also tell me which features you guys want I will try to make these like phone dog does as in with the detail
There's just one thing I need and its the permission of the devs who create the rom so if any on them come across this post just pm me or post that you give me permission to review your roms
To every dev I will link them to the video of the rom also I will state the from and the date and build that I flashed

You do not need any devs permission to review a rom, its your phone you can review anything you want to review about it. It would also be much easier if you asked people to review the different roms for you and give you the videos for your channel. Edit your post and give guidelines on how you want them to review the roms, meaning do you want them to review certain apps, run benchmarks, take pics, play games and so on. I am sure people would not care to help you out by reviewing there rom. Just make a list of all the roms in your post and when you get a quality video review mark it off the list.

Forgot to mention it might also help if you review the rom your running now and post a link so people can see what you are looking for in video review. You could probable get a video review of most the roms today if people helped you out.

Hey first thank you for taking this initiative. I'm sure I will watch all of your ROM reviews.
One quick request if you can keep look out for this feature. (I'm not sure if this exist for i717 ROMs so that's why I'm hoping you can touch on it if you find it during the review)
I'm looking for ICS ROM that can disable note's capacitive buttons at the bottom and just use ICS on screen buttons to navigate around.
Also this thread deserves better description so other users can easily identify what a nice work you are doing for the community

Hey,
He didnt use another rom as a base. Also while he didnt post pic's and a changelog he did post a video which mostly covered that and while this probably technically broke the rules it probably shouldnt of resulted in a flat out ban at least with out some sort of warning.

Your right. I should post more things about my ROMs. I figured the video showed it all. I had over 32k hits to my site in the last 10 days and I was so busy helping people with there thunderbolt and making roms. I didn't take the time to post pictures and a little more information. I just figured all my ROM videos said it all. As far as giving credit. I gave credit to the persons kernel I'm using. As far as base I used the Stock Rom that came with the phone. Even if it seems like another ROM on here. However most users I've heard that tried my GB ROM said its not like the other rom. However I shouldn't have to defend my self on this and I won't again. It hurts honestly after all I've done lately. I should be working on more projects and helping people then to sit here defending my self after last nights support from users I know I don't need to so I won't.
Who ever handles this tread please close it and once again thank you for unbanning me.

ok here is a heads up how bounty works .
you dont donate up front you put your name in with the amount and once it reaches the amount needed IF the DEV still wants in at that time well THEN and THEN only everyone pays .
I have seen and heard way too many devs get paid for nothing , while the best of them struggles to get new devices .
Its way to easy to have your friends/fans open bounty for you .
I am not pointing fingers at anyone (I am sorry if you feel the hats fits you ) and I will not entertain any arguments with anyone in this thread

ok guys i successfully have gotten a few devs devices on the skyrocket thread feel free to look at the threads i started by looking at my thread posts.... Ive created Johnsondr80 one a few months back and he was one of the first i got a device for and he helps the skyrocket community alot.... I propose you guys consolidate donations into one thread just look at what i have done its called a [DONATION ROTATION] thread if u have questions ask as i read rules on the matter and have mastered it... as well it helps if the devs make a chip in so everyone knows the donations go straight to them

The goal is to avoid money going left and right if you recall I was interested in your thread but I stepped back when you asked me to make a chipin page because money gets spread thin .
I believe the only proper way is the same way the t-mobile bounty was made .
Gather up ppl ready to give money then , point it all at ONE dev with a poll if needed . otherwise money goes left and right and you never know who really buys the device .

Yes your way is good , but again one dev at a time is the way to go then if for example it takes too long for a dev and he buys another phone . there is always another one ready .
for example we have braway working BLIND ( cough cough) on our phone waitign for ppl to help him get one since day one , not asking for asingle donation , he s also the source of all the roms here since he made CWM .
but we see money going separate ways for flavored roms .

I do not make them nor do I choose which get shut down , if a thread got shut down it s because it wasnt legit according to XDA not according to me .
this thread 's goal right here is so users dont give money left and right . Many users got burned already and in the end the community suffers .
We can all get together and finance great dev for coming here , I ve freely given donations many times already and will do it again .
I do not have a facebook page , I do not ask for users to buy me devices I do not make chipin pages , I own only one device ( the other one is almost 2 yrs old) I do customize the phone for my need and share with the community , some users help me some users donate , some users join me .

I can't blame a dev if they wanna leave the T989... phone is great but the forum is drama.
Compare it to skyrocket. Same device almost, completely different attitude. Not daily flame wars from impatient end users
Edit: it would be great to have m&s on the i717 & tdj as well... And think how much more peaceful it would be for them here. Whitehawkx would be great Dan Brutal too. And they would be appreciated instead of maybe being sorry they bought the T989

You want another dev to have this phone go ahead. But don't knock those who are giving what they have done... What happened to the good old days when devs bought phones instead of begging for handouts? Its one thing for everyone to gather money for the cyanogen or miui team for a port but for another flavor of our existing roms? I'm more interested in donating to a dev that can build an ics kernel.

I think the point is that we have had some developers working hard already. One of them brought us recovery without even having the phone, and he still doesn't have the phone. Nor has he been given enough in donations to buy this phone.
And now we have a number of developers showing up looking for donations to buy this phone to develop on. It seems to me to be insulting to start throwing money at individuals who haven't done anything yet vs those that have already worked hard.
Then again, everyone has the right to give money to who they want.
I really don't understand why people posting on a forum have to get downright rude because they don't agree with someone.

I Got my Note launch day & soon found a community that in a brief time offered me root, an OC kernal, CWM, and now 3 different ROM's that I didn't ask for or up-front pay for. That established pretty clearly that people here are doing things for others (I would be the one of the others- I have contributed now to several).
I can understand that we bring our own baggage and attitude with us when we (anyone) read(s) these forums. Please, if it sounds like a post is disingenuous, discrediting, slighting, or unflattering to someone, seek clarification before you let your attitude, especially if it's negative, run amok. It isn't necessarily how you perceived it & such vitriolic spewing can be downright poisonous to the community.
You may have a point, and it may be good for all of us to hear it, but the golden rule can't hurt, eh? Civility is an option.
As far as the thread is concerned, I think some planning and caution when it comes to donations to bring others on board is wise, so discussion about that structure is a good thing- this is a ripe field for trolls and scammers. Thanks DAGr8 for trying to set this conversation rolling.

Tutorials are sorely lacking around here. I'm fairly technically savvy, much moreso than the average person. But even for me it's pretty daunting for somebody that's relatively new to rooting and flashing ROMs to actually follow through with it. Most of the step by step guides require a masters in Android before you can even understand them. Between kernels, radios, AOSP/AOKP, CWM/TWRP, nandroid, dalvik, Odin, GAPPS, format/wipe, different kinds of backups... it's pretty crazy. I know it sounds so simple to people who are familiar with it, but trust me, to many people it's not. Especially with a device that costs so much money and you have to make sure everything is compatible with one another. The developers in here do a great job of creating a ton of this stuff to use but it doesn't seem like the most welcoming place for beginners or "n00bs". Seems most questions or problems are treated by saying "you didn't read enough" or "you screwed up" which isn't very helpful. Part of the problem is that guides and tutorials become obsolete and out of date so quickly, yet people don't want to give new advice because something similar is covered in a 6+ month old tutorial.
So long story short... any new tutorials are welcome! I'm considering rooting and putting liquid JB on my Note but feel like it's safer to just wait for the stock upgrade at this point. I "upgraded" my old HTC Magic back in the Cupcake/Donut days to a CM build with new radios/kernels/SPLs or something, and could never un-do it and ended up making the phone useless.

I have every intention of using the note 1 for several years to come for the very reason I stated above.

As a matter of fact the ROM sitting over in our development section Black Star IX HAS THE NOTE 2 gallery in their ROM which looks really sweet. If you ask them I'm sure there might be a way they could tell you how to get it. Or let me know and I'll do digging around for you my man !!

I created an app called Endless Conversations.
"Endless conversations is a new form of social networking that allows you to converse about anything you like with anyone in the world who has the app. Pick a category and start chatting and anyone can join in and post a response to the conversation. The conversation is endless so there is no limit on how much to write or what to talk about. You can also respond to one specific individual if you want to get deep in the response he/she posted. You can share photos within the post too."

Actually it sounds like a good idea. So just to make sure I understand u right, if I wanted to talk about my favorite sports team or even shower curtains I can start a topic of some sort or pose a question and whoever wants to respond to me can do so? It sounds somewhat familiar. I think the iPhone appstore had a similar app of some sort a while back but apple pulled it for some reason. I could be wrong on that but the premise does sound familiar. I'm gonna give it a shot. I'll post back my impressions if ur interested.

It's a tad lonely in there right now. Looks like ill literally have the very first post regardless of topic. But hey, if it ever catches on and becomes a household app, I can say I was the first person to ever start a discussion. I do like the idea though. One thing I did notice is that it lacks a miscellaneous category if u want to discuss something that's sorta out of the ordinary or 'out there'. What if I wanna talk about wheat bread crust or maybe the chupacabra?? Just a suggestion. Maybe u can add a miscellaneous category in a future update

This app is banging yo I love it. I hope this blows up bigger then facebook, and Twitter. Great work brother you deserve millions for this app ! Can I add this to my new Rom I created? I havnt released my Rom to public yet I'm still working on some bugs, and tweeks but will be done in a week then il throw it up on the net.. my new Rom is called DirtyDozen its a sick Rom been running on my DNA for two months I have few more issues and bugs I have to work out! Can you pm me and we can talk about putting this in my Rom for its first release! Hope I can it will help you get the word out for it. I will also invest in this if your looking for investors! I ran one of the latest builds before building my own ROM and everything and thought it was great. (used it to sync up to the repo actually lol)

I'm, not sure, I found it hard to find an updated CM11 here. I saw the one in Android Development but was way outdated.
So you know, I'm not trying to rip you off Captain_Throwback or anything like that here, i really thank you for your work, and having it available to build with.
Just trying to make something more easily available for everyone. And will include links to other versions like yours too if i have them, whatever make things easiest for everyone

Ok so, this is basically just Cyanogenmod 11, built from source, with the commits for after the new partition layout, firmware upgrade.
I will be updating semi-regularly, maybe not nightly but at least once a week if I see people downloading it. If popularity increases, I will be more active on updates, and possible small changes such as additional apps, build.prop mods, and that kind of stuff.

That's not my area of expertise, but would like to have a few good people to fill in the gaps to make this a really nice ROM in the end. I will try to take requests, if I can do it, I will. This is an all-in-one ROM. I had issues flashing certain gapps packages, resulting in weird issues such as no SMS, so it seemed smarter to cut the hunt out for everyone else who just wants it to work great out of the box so to speak, thereby I already added the minimum gapps for the ROM to run smoothly. And everything seems fine as is.
Also, I have removed Gallery2.apk & Browser.apk, and they have been replaced by CMGallery.apk (aka GalleryNext), and Chrome.apk.
The gallery switch was just to stick to using as much CM code as possible, and Chrome was because I couldn't get the AOSP Browser to work for some weird reason yet to reveal itself to me. But it does make this ROM unique in its own way.
This should be easily upgradeable (dirty). I tried to make it to where you should not have to clean flash after the first install, but nobody's perfect.
DO NOT UPDATE OFFICIALLY AFTER THIS!!! CYANOGENMOD INC HAS NOT INCORPORATED THE NEW COMMITS TO THE BUILD YET!!!
I ONLY KEEP THE UPDATER TO CHECK FOR NOTABLE CHANGES WORTH MAKING THE NEXT BUILD FOR!!!

Captain is right. I have been posting my builds with the new layout. They are easily found in my signature. The only thing that I did to it was applied Captain's commits for the new HBOOTS / partition layout. As such, I didn't think it merited a post under the "Original Development" section. I was keeping it under "Android Development", where Captain had it started.
