NOOB radio question - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a rooted Thunderbolt. Have not changed the radio yet. How do I determine which radio version I am currently using. I am looking to install an MR2.x+ or MR3.+ to use with the Eternity Rom.

It's in about phone under baseband version.

[Q] Help Updating, Please?

Okay, so let me start off by saying that I'm completely out of the Thunderbolt loop as of late so I have no clue what is going on.
I'm still running a rooted 2.2.1 and I'm trying to update my software to the most current software.
Android Version: 2.2.1
Baseband: 1.39.00.0627r, 0.01.69.0625r
Kernel: 2.6.32.21-g0606a3a
[email protected] #1
Build #: 1.70.605.0 CL343953 release-keys
Software #: 1.70.605.0
So basically, what in the hell do I need to do???
Flash the gingerbread radios, then choose a gingerbread ROM and flash that.
Run a backup of your setup along the way.

Is it absolutely necessary for me to flash the newer radios? Some places I'm looking say that I shouldn't and others, such as your comment, are telling me to do so.
Depends on the rom. Use the radio they suggest.

Reiterating the OP, latest software; hence initial guidance of gingerbread radios then pick a gingerbread ROM, backup and flash as appropriate.

Evo3d kernel question

So I am using hboot 1.5 s off. Used the wire trick and verified it. I have now flashed a few different ics roms and when I go to look at kernel version it always seems to say htc kernel. Should it say something different?

Unless you flash some custom kernel, it won't change because most ICS roms are currently running HTCstock.

installing rom reverted my basband to gb

Hey guys, I installed the new venom Rom coming from the latest ics leak, I love everything about this Rom but I noticed that my baseband reverted back to the gb versions, I was never able to get 4g in my area on these old versions. I tried restoring back to the ics Rom and still have the old baseband. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
**UPDATE**
I got everything updated with a flash of an ICS RUU. I Relocked bootloader, flashed file, New Basebands and Hboot.

Uh.... what? No ROM out there does this. It would be highly irresponsible and dangerous to include radio updates in a ROM, and that ROM definitely doesn't have a radio update in the zip

Hmm.. It has me stumped. I thought it was kinda odd that even after restoring my ICS backup that had the new basebands it still restored with the old basebands.

The basebands aren't part of the rom nor are they stored when you do a nandroid backup of a rom. If you reverted them, you didn't do it from installing a new rom.
Any chance you s-off'd the phone lately?

Are you confusing the build number with the baseband numbers?
It is impossible to flash a radio in recovery so there is no was switching roms did this

My phone is still S-on for now, and I'm looking at the basebands (0.95.00.1118R, 0.95.00.1223R) I think ill try to flash the ICS RUU again and see what happens.
