Take it for what it's worth. Force 2D rendering is not enabled on my phone, perhaps there would be a bigger difference there, don't really care enough to try at this point, lol
i just flashed the ruu an hour ago the only thing i had on my phone was my apps updated. and i was rooted.

1. Benchmarks mean little next to actual experience
2. Score from just the 2D section in multiple runs with each driver would've been much better, all those other sections can and will vary and affect the overall score

Just.... for the record... the post in the OP state "significant boost" in scores when in reality, there aren't.
That's all I was saying. Just trying to contribute to the community
;-)
I guess the question is whether it feels any different. The post also states that UI rendering seems smoother, but of course this is impossible to truly measure.

believe me it felt alot smoother with youtube and stuff like that with the 2d rendering on without the adreno update.
i am now tryin to figure out how to uninstall the update??? maybe someone can help?
i wonder if i just redo the ruu?

so it got worse when i installed his patch so i made my own with the latest drivers from the adreno site linked here https://developer.qualcomm.com/mobi...phics-optimization-adreno/tools-and-resources
this helps my phone out alot and im not sure if the latest leak did have these installed.. im not sure how to check but it works killer.

But there are more questions: Is it possible the updated drivers carry the workload on less power consumption? If there isn't a measurable difference, does it FEEL any different?
I suppose I needed an excuse to nandroid today anyway. I'll probably just try it out.

well i made the patch to go back so ill flash his and see how battery goes. but sense this leak is already battery conservant i might like the speed and feel without his adreno update. we will see.

i highly doubt this will work for the rezound as the updated driver is for the s2 series of chips while the rezound uses the msm 8660 which is s3 the difference being the s2 running off arm7 architecture and the s3 running off arm 8. here is a link to qualcomms current cpu line and the series and architecture: qualcomm.com/chipsets/snapdragon

Hello,
I've had the phone rooted and the new cm7 (bad***), it all runs great I just wonder how some people are getting 5k Quad score while I am at the same 3.2 as it was on stock. I do have the same Kernel and everything when rooting and flashing went so smooth. Is there something I am missing.......
Thanks in advance.

I did, than quadrant freezes while I'm running it. As in when I click submit score, it automatically goes back to the 1st 2d test and than force closes.
"sorry I left that out" :/
call me ignorant but do people STILL think that quadrant scores mean soemthing? why are people still comparing them???
Some people just want to stroke their epeen on the net.
And as to overclocking - not everyone will be able to overclock. There's a reason the device is only sold as 1.2 GHz - that's all it was tested to. Some might hit 1.4, some might hit 1.6, some might be right at the edge and only be able to do 1.2.
its not the quadrant score that matters. Its the idea of why it is different. All the devices have the same cpu have the same kernel and are rooted/flashed as stated in the forum (the same way). So why is mine doing so when clocked and running. I don't care what the score is. even 1200 score is enough for a phone. I didn't want to stroke anything. Its the matter of where the problem/case/scenario is coming from. As in, will it cause other problems and is it a problem at all. having had 5 android rooted/flashed devices I've never experienced it........... Why do people have to be ignorant and troll a forum is an issue I cant understand?

if you're asking why your quad score differs from other ppl's phone with the same setup, then you need to research more.
Not all phones are built the same. Just because they all have the same hardware and software, doesnt mean they'll all operate the same.
So there is something that I'm trying to figure out.
I am currently running Virus' Infected Eternity 1.5 r31 and using RCMIX 3D v11 kernel. Regardless whether it is overclocked (which I usually run 1.51 ghz) or standard and regardless of whether running a govenor like lagfree or a SetCPU one like performance, when I open the app SystemPanel Monitor it shows only one core running. According to Freeza's thread, his kernel has "dual cores active" and it shows SystemPanel Monitor with two cores running. I switched to Freeza's kernel with Eternity ROM and and checked again and it only shows one core running.
So what I'm trying to figure out is, is this ROM related or am I really only running one core and the other is not used, or otherwise how do I know if both cores are running?
My phone with Eternity ROM is smooth and runs games and videos well with no choppiness so I think it is ok. I just want to know how we can know that both cores are running.
I would also like an answer to this question..
Its because of SetCPU if you remove it and install say CPU Master your second core will be activated.
I thought the latest SetCPU was setup for dual cores?

This Worked!! Thanks cruecu. Seems as though if the demand is not there the second core is idle for these particular govenors.
So this begs the questions.....Which is better (for speed and/or battery life), running mostly one core at full speed and then the second when only necessary, or running both simultaneously at half speed? I've seen some discussion on this but it's not real clear.

I'm not sure one has been proven more effective. I personally don't want both cores running all the time...I don't notice a speed increase since clock speed is still the same. Not sure it matters either way, but I will only run a rom that uses second core only when needed

For the most part I agree with this statement. The reality is the device feels faster and will benchmark better. The better benchmarking is what sold a lot of people. The question still remains is if the device finishes processing the data in half the time is it using more battery? I personally have not noticed a drain on the battery and it may even be a little better. If you let the device decide when to use the second core it may never use it.
Also on some ROMs like my Fresh ROM you can just delete the dual core script in the init.d folder and it will return to single core mode.
Ok, I have side questions that pertains to this topic.
If we can enable the second core in init.d when the phone boots, AND it actually does useful work then HTC would have had to have put effort into supporting that in their kernel because ASOP Gingerbread does not naively support dual core, right? So that makes me wonder why HTC shipped the 3D with dual core inactive! Unless I'm flat out wrong somewhere HTC must have had a reason, and the only things I can think of are race conditions and battery life.

Our CPU was not designed to run this way (asynchronous CPU). That is why it is not active all the time. Now Nvidia Tegra processors (synchronous CPU) are designed to run dual core all the time. That also seem to produce better benchmarks.
HTC kernel is designed to run the way the processor was designed. HTC would not override the CPU specs like we would just to make the benchmark better. The theory is that asynchronous CPU would have better battery life. Reality is most XDA members only care about benchmarks so they can show their friends.

While I agree with you in principle, I do have both cores active at all times. I have not noticed any difference in battery life. Yet I have noticed a difference of quite a bit less lag while loading applications and flipping through screens than when CPU1 is idle.
Does it really matter in the long run daily use? Not really. It's a fun tweak and I learned something new by utilizing it.
I did not get a truly noticeable difference in benchmark though.

Since the other Adreno 220 topic was also made here, this should work perfectly on the Amaze devices and fix people's skype green problem. (worked on multiple devices, sensation, vivid, amaze)
These EGL files came from the One Series with Adreno graphics.
I made a thread on Sensation forums which explains everything.
You can find it here
Known fixes so far; Skype, Modern Combat 3 and increase of global performance in games/browser (flash)
In NenaMark2 and also games you can see fps increase.
You can check which GL version you have with "OpenGLES Extension viewer" and if its 2131267 you can try flash the newer from attachments
Everything explained in the other post. .
PS > if you benchmark, benchmark with GL wise application eg. NenaMark2 or GLBenchmark since those files affect GL performance.
also they are not kernel related, you can flash kernels whatever you want, they should not heat up your phone more then it already does heat up and not decrease battery life more then it normally does.
wipe cache+dalvik cache to be sure all apps work.
As you expect, flash at your own risk (just do a backup, or have the files from the other topic (also have them in attachments (Adreno_ICS_Update = current version as your rom should use))
You can always flash your own rom again over it and it replaces the EGL files (if you don't like them)
Any questions just ask.
*read here that 2184622 works on Amaze, note the instagram problem he talking is about is fixed*
These work. Good.
I took 3 tests with nenamark before hand and got around 41-ish fps.
Took 3 more tests with these drivers and I'm getting a constant 50fps+

Thank you for contributing to the community bduvel. It is always nicer to have options and people always looking out for the next best tweak, hack, driver, etc.. for our devices and willing to share.
This is what I enjoy most about our XDA Community,
I have been running the 218 drivers you have pulled from the OneS for a couple of days now and my perception is this driver is not as smooth as I have experienced with the Official QComm released drivers.
I did not run benchmarks as soon as I flashed so as not to prejudice my experience.
After a couple of days I have run the Quadrant Benchmark and now have more objective results to share with the community.
AFTER "OneS Adreno Driver (218)" Screenshot 2D Rendering CHECKED.
AFTER "QComm Release Adreno ICS Update (213)" Screenshot 2D Rendering CHECKED.
Regardless of the driver 2D scores are @ 1000
With 218 my 3d Benchmarking Score is 1258
Using the QComm 213 Adreno Driver my 3D Benchmarking Score is 2235
I also noticed a decrease in my NenaMark 2 FPS rate when using the 218 OneS driver.
This seems to have confirmed my subjective results that the 218 driver for some reason did not perform as well on the HTC Amaze.
Thank you,
gjcamp
So i have the ota update ics tmobile rolled out for the amaze and i checked my driver version and it says i have the 218 one? Is this the same as the 218 one you have posted here from the one s??
Alright so: found the fastest sensless ROM was slimrom. With quadrant I scored about 4k on funky kernel. Mostly all sense based ROM scored around that that's with funky. Now that I installed rage ROM aosp I'm getting laggier performance in games and about a 2- 3k quadrant benchmark score. Same with antutu benchmark. Lower scores then on sense. This dosnt make sense. I thought aosp ROMs (cm9) were so pose to be godly and around faster then she sense based. But lower benchmark and lower fps and lag in games this sucks. Still running funky. I noticed that system tuner was acting up and making it do all weird things so I cleared data and uninstalled rebooted and still got same scores. Force GPU was checked in all ROMs and kernel versions. And all benchmarks were dine with ball the same CPU setting. Maybe an app is acting up and robing performance? I'm not get any abnormal heat or batter drain.
Did you check the built in cpu manager within the settings? If you have an app to govern it, they will battle over control causing lag.

Yes and I only use the built in one to control. I was reading that this is a common problem with cm9 and going from android v 4.0.4 to 4.0.3 might fix it. As in different cm9 ROM.
Told you this before and hate to sound like a broken record. Don't use System Tuner with my kernel, use Android Tuner or CPU Tweaker (these replaced System Tuner for a reason) on Sense roms.

NEVER NEVER NEVER turn force GPU rendering on (breaks MANY apps), thats the BIGGEST mistake MANY people do on these forums along with those so-called universal "build.prop" tweaks which do absolutely nothing. Try using the stock kernel first to see if its kernel related.

Triple buffering. You're thinking about triple buffering. We'll only get all those benefits with a full implementation of Project Butter, which is not automatic with jellybean. Right now, what we have is very uneven. Some things are smooth, some things are choppier. Getting a full ION implementation should smooth things out, but it still won't be Project Butter.

This is how Oneplus X performs on low-light conditions, is this software related?
Update: It seems to be hardware related, Oneplus X uses the AA version of the SD 801 which is the weakest version with a GPU performance that loses to phones 2-3 years old. I don't know if this is related to the camera but I already feel cheated as this CPU was marketed as "very similar" to the OPO, this explains why it stays miles away from the OPO and is beaten by phones like the Xiaomi mi 4 which is in the same prince range.
Bummer. I shoot useful video like that all the time.

It's not only in low-light conditions, people complain that the phone has major lags when it's correcting the light mid-video on bright days.

I'm waiting to see what the professional reviews say before drawing conclusions. Even so, I still won't care because I normally don't use my phone to record meaningful HD video.
Just so you're aware, the SOC isn't simply the AA model. It's the MSM8974PROAA. The PRO means that it still has the high end 578mhz gpu. It should dominate current games, yet it doesnt. It's most definitely software related, and oneplus need to get this sorted. Stop misleading people, the phone is technically very powerful. It's Oxygen OS that's letting it down.

Nonsense.
Like someone already said it's AA Pro version which is really good. Game performance and video lagging is software related for sure. Probably due to poor default governor.
OP works on fix already, but wait for some custom roms. This phone is going to fly.

3rd!
People that blame the CPU for the current performance state of this device clearly don't know very much.
With the kernel blu_spark r25 I have way better performances on Fallout Shelter than with the stock kernel!

Yeah but you have to be rooted an unlocked which means you won't get any OTA.

I rooted my device without unlocking bootloader.
I than tampered a little bit with the cpu and got way better performance in games as well
I considered flashing that kernel, too, but didn't want the hassle of resetting my device for it (unlocking bootloader). I'll do that when more custom roms are available.

you wont get ota if you mess with system partition = rooting
but it doesnt matter if you unlock -> backup boot -> flash blu_spark
and if ota is available you restore boot and flash ota

True, but by the time they fix with OTA we will probably have several custom ROMs.

PRO just defines that its a SD801 and not SD800
since they both are MSM8974

Not really sure. In all the charts I've seen online the "AA" model of the 801 has a 450mhz gpu. I've benched the X and it has the 578mhz and a clear PROAA designation. Did some tests with gaming too. Even running riptide gp2 with all the graphics settings on off/minimum, it stutters. That just shouldn't happen on ANY 800 series. Just hoping people don't underestimate what this phone "should" be capable of

just because it displays the frequency doesnt mean the gpu will ever reach it
indeed the soc should have a better performance. i still guess its really bad software and they will fix it in future ota

I this iteration of the 801 has the talent to be an absolute beast. Just need to have decent firmware to run it.
Apparently the Oxygen kernel code is so messy.

I far as i know the MSM8974PROAA has indeed the high GPU freq. (578 MHz) but compared to AB and AC variants it has much lower ISP freq. and RAM Memory Interface freq. I've an OPX E1003 with Antutu 5.7 3D score of ~11000, whereas the Galaxy S5 scores ~13500, so 22 percent better in gaming according to Antutu. The total antutu score is sligtly lower than of the Galaxy S5, but it seems largely to have to do with 3D performance.
But I noticed using a Usage Monitor app that Asphalt 8 really doesn't push this phone to the max (CPU and GPU wise) ánd has a low framerate (might be app specific issue). With the same Usage Monitor I found out Antutu 5.7 3D pushes the GPU freq. to the max (578 MHz) but still scores significantly below Galaxy S5. Gaming NFS Most Wanted is okey, but GTA San Andreas has lower framerates than expected. I didn't expect the differences between 2 SnapDragon 801 variants to be this big!
