I have multiple nandroid backups that I would like to restore at any given time. Currently, I am trying to restore my CleanRom Standard 4.4 backup. I know I created the backup using an older version of AmonRa (I'm not sure which version). When I try to restore the backup, it error's out saying "oops...something went wrong! Please check the recovery log". Is it because I am not using the same version of AmonRa?
I wiped everything and reflashed the rom before attempting to restore the backup.
I made the backup on another phone and was S-On when it was created. I am currently on a new phone that is S-Off.
Does anyone know how I can restore this backup?
Thanks, and have blessed day!
My first guess would be you can't restore from another phone. The md5 wouldn't match. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Nandroid backup
i would like to flash the froyo. I installed the clockwork and using nandroid to back-up the current rom but stuck in the "back up data...." . Can somebody help?
If you have 2.1 currently, there's no worries for backup because flashing back to 2.1 is as simple as flashing Update.pkg. so hurry and hop on to froyo already

It's a known issue with no fix anticipated for the forseeable future, use MyBackup Pro or Titainium Backup for restoring your data and apps
thanks for your reply
Actually, I think there *IS* a way! I was able to connect to the Recovery via ADB and then run
Code:
nandroid backup
from there! It didn't get stuck like it used to before. I don't remember if I restored it successfully after. You might have to create the MD5 sums yourself with
Code:
md5sum boot.img recovery.img data.img system.img > nandroid.md5
..I'm typing that off the top of my head right now, so it may not be 100% accurate. I'd be interested if others have success with it. Maybe nandroid is usable like this after all, which I would really like.
Let me know if it works for you!

Hey guys,
I had my old Evo, and had it rooted, not through HTC's bootloader, sadly that phone broke and I had to get a new one. well I had it backed up with Clockwork and I want to restore my old Rom. I did the process of unlocking and rooting the phone here being it was on Hboot 1.5
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239821
But now every time I try to restore the Backup in Clockwork I get sent to TWRP and can't seem to recover the back up there. Anyway to do this or to remove TWRP and put back the recovery process that my old Rooted Evo 3d had?

CWM and TWRP use different naming conventions for their backups.
If you created a backup in CWM, would be easiest to restore using CWM.
When restoring a backup from a different devices, I would suggest ONLY restoring, data, system and boot partitions.
Keep in mind some devices can have hardware variations between versions and on occasion these can impact restoring an "older" ROM from a previous device to a newer device.
Hope that helps!

How do I force it to use CWM. I open it up, try to restore it and it restarts my phone in TWRP.
You might need to use fastboot to make CWM work. I haven't had success using any other method with hboot 1.5. I've had the same experience as others with only CWM 4.0.1.4 and 5.8.0.1 working via fastboot. Instructions I used:

Not trying to hijack this thread but I don't want to make a new thread for this noob question.... How do I know which hw version I have? On evo4g it says it right on the hboot screen, but I can't see it on the 3d. Thanks.
Edit...found it.

Restoring a backup from CMW to a different phone is a bad idea. If you do, DO NOT RESTORE WIMAX PARTITIONS or you will lose 4g. I would just start over as it would be the safest.

Agreed, what you should do when switching phones is to backup with titanium backup, I find it to work better because I backs up the apk and the data for it opposed to CWR or TWRP which actually grab a snapshot of the partitions and recover from it.

I think, You have TWRP flashed to your phone, and you havent flashed CWM yet. You are just booting CWM using fastboot. So, when the recovery restarts you get to TWRP.
Instead of using "fastboot boot *.img" use "fastboot flash recovery *.img" then use "fasboot boot *.img". Then try once again and check if it works......
OK, I'm having an odd issue with my phone. After flashing ICZenwich rc1.4 I decided to restore a backup I made of rc1.3. However it won't properly restore... I keep getting this in CWR...
Checking MD5 sums . . .
Erasing boot before restore . . .
Restoring boot image . . .
Restoring system . . .
Restoring data . . .
Can't mount /data!

Then the restore process stops. I've tried starting from scratch via Odin and then again attempted to restore. Nothing works. Help would be greatly, greatly, appreciated!
I had this issue several times with previous versions of ICZen...I saw an app in Xda called Nandroid Browser but i never used it...

Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't really solve the issue. Luckily I frequently backup with Titanium Backup so I was able to upgrade to rc1.4 and restore. Everything seems to be working. Maybe later I'll try what dougfresh suggested and try flashing the Glitch B6 kernel and try to see if the restore works. However at the current I think I'll hold off on any nandroid backups for a while .
i tried also to restore the nandroid after flashing another kernel and still had the same issue...maybe the problem is not with the restore but the backup with the previous versions of MP kernels...
Got an idea Noob. Try to do an advanced restore and restore everything one by one except the boot.img. if it is a kernel issue then this might be a way to bypass it for now until MP or Br1ck'd gets a look at it.
Hey noob, do you remember what kernel you were on when you made the nandroid backup? I think mikka is on the right track, probably an issue with the backup itself rather than the restore operation.

The kernel that was backed up was MP's "cwm-subZero-Vibrant-1.0.1VC_build26-BFS_BLN" kernel. However it wouldn't restore even when attempting to restore after flashing the build 26 kernel. It was a very odd issue, during which I couldn't even mount nor unmount /data in CWR. However it apparently works now. Perhaps I'll start testing backups again at a later date, I've already got everything setup again anyhow. I'm again settled down with your amazing work!
PS- Working on a "Royale with Cheese" boot animation. May take some time, but it's in the works
I got the same Can't mount /data! error when trying to restore a backup after trying a build of CM10.
I just did a wipe data/factory reset, then the restore worked.
I am used to making backups and restoring with CWR on my EVO but now that I have the Rezound and CWR does not work, I make Nandroid backups with Amon-ra but am not able to restore them. I read somewhere that some things need to checked while on recovery mode but I am not sure what. What do I need to do to make a proper Nandroid Backup? And also do I need to flash anything else after I restore a backup?
If restoring an ics build coming from ics(or gb to gb) no additional flashing should be needed. Should only be needing to backup system data cache and boot. If you do s-off exploit, you can restore boot.IMG directly through the nandroid.

I know for sure it works with amon ra. Flash it in recovery, I think it boots automatically afterwards into bootloader, flash the image, reboot and it will go back into recovery on its own then flash your nandroid. Then all should be well. Just flashing nandroid will not allow the phone to boot

I've restored several times through Amon Ra backups. I back up the usual stuff and the Android secure file. So far no problems at all.
I recieved my CLNR from verizon yesterday. Made a nandroid last night.
Today I have unlocked, rooted and now I am trying to restore my nandroid.
This is what it looks like:
x boot
x system
x data
x cache
recovery
sd-ext
x android_secure
android_secure_internalsd
perform restore
return
I hit perform restore and this is what happens
oops....something went wrong. Please check the recovery log!
What does that mean and where do I go from here?
Thanks
Heather

Same here. I switched to TWRP and no issues thus far.
Do any of you guys have the recovery log you could post. Might shed some light on the issue.

Thanks for TWRP! LOVE IT!
I got the Note 3 the day it released, but doing a nandroid restore caused a bootloop that I never was able to recover from.
Has anyone else had any issues like this at all with nandroid restores/backups?
Anything odd that caused bootloops?
Has anyone successfully done nandroid backups and restores with no issues at all?
I want to get the Note 3 again, but I want to make sure noone else experienced this issue before I get it.
I want to make sure everyone is fully able to do nandroid backups and restores using twrp just fine with this phone?
This broke my last one, but if anyone can vouch for this working I might try it again. Also, does titanium backup restores work now? They didn't when it first came out.
