[Q] stock bootloaders - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

i have been looking for the absolute bone stock bootloaders for my phone for about three hours now. i decided to reset it back to unrooted stock, but when i did, i used my jig and it still didnt reset the counter back to 0, so i found some bootloaders off of a 9100. it took my counter away, but now it says 9100 when i boot up. it is really annoying to see that when i boot up. so if anyone knows where i can find the stock bootloaders... or any bootloaders for 2.3.4 for that matter, please let me know... I WOULD BE VERY APPRECIATIVE!!! thanks

Just flash an ics rom and use triangle away

i actually managed to find the old bootloaders. the only downside is that it runs in a pda. but it worked perfect! and i didnt want to flash to ics again. i just came from ics. and plus, if i went back to ics just to do away with the triangle, i would end up getting it again when i flashed entrophy's kernel again, and i would be up that same creek again
ANYWAYS, if anyone needs the stock bootloaders, they are here!

this will allow you to use the jig trick to take away your binary counters!
thanks for the quick reply tho

You would not get the triangle again if you flashed his zip in cwm. Once you are rooted and have cwm there is almost no reason to ever flash with Odin again.

The files that i had were indeed 2.3.4 and rooted, but did not include cwm. And, yes i know the files are on a sticky in android dev. When i reset to stock, however, it did not replace the ics bootloaders, so where i flashed entrophy's kernel with heimdall, the ics bootloaders would not allow me to reset the custom binary count. But no worries. I found the gb bl's and got it all wiped. I am now running stock 2.3.4 (my personal fav) with entrophys and everything is running flawlessly. Overclocked to 1.45 stable and stock battery lasted over 24 hours with moderate usage. Thank you for the quick replies, and thanks to all the devs that are making my android experience the best out there!

Only thing I hated about stock 2.3.4 was the damn home button lag. If not for that I may have stayed on it.

[q] unrooting sgs2 (already on stock rom)

My Goal: set everything back to stock for warranty. (charging system is *%$#ed)
my problem: I am stuck at the unrooting part.
I have read everything I can over and over and yet I still find myself in a predicament. I have restored everything back to stock (I rooted and unlocked my SGS2, but I never used a custom ROM).
I have relocked the device, I have reset everything back to stock. I used the jig to reset the flash counter. I re flashed my secure kernel. Everything checks out, except my Superuser access.
Now here is the part where I am stuck. So essentially from what I read I have 3 options that I can recall:
1 - just re flash my stock ROM to remove root (seems pointless as I have never had to flash a ROM, seeing as I am still on my stock ROM)
2 - unroot using SOC (which failed to work, stuck on step 6)
3 - use Samsung Kies to update. (this also failed, won't detect my phone, and yes it is in Kies mode, no debug)
I am at a loss. I am on the Bell network in Canada, and I am on UGKG2 firmware.
Please let me know if you need more information. Also, I apologize if the answer is in one of the threads. I have been reading everything whenever I can, and just can't figure this one out. thanks for your patience in advance

you have to flash an original firmware if you want to get rid of root and cwm.

Well, there is a market app (rootcheck) but it's easy to check yourself, if you dont have superuser in your app drawer you are not rooted.
Let's say, you dont have superuser app and you cannot access cwm recovery = you are not rooted
If I may ask, why exactly is it that you cannot unroot without flashing an original firmware? Why does SOC even give you the option if it doesn't work? Thanks for the timely replies though

soc does work but a lot of people screw up 3 Simple steps and end up with a semi bricked phone.
Flash a stock firmware is probably the more "safe" system. Also allows you to flash latest version that some countries will never receive or receive very late.
Sry my English sux even more today lol

Ok... So let's troubleshoot why I can't get the unroot to work for SOC... I have tried both in and out of download mode. Debugging on and debugging off. Yet the unroot stops at step 6 and does nothing...

I read in another post it is as simple as removing superuser.apk and the su folder on system...

I just flashed the stock rom back. Seems to look quite 100% like it did when it came in the box. Jigged to kill flash counter. I think I am set to send it in Thanks a lot guys.
Following that, looks like for root you just need to download superuser app from market and you are good to go....
Its not so easy as you know.
Removing the superuser apk just removes the superuse app, but then you end up with a semi rooted phone with cwm recovery (that you dont want if you want to go back to stock)

Good im glad you managed to "restock" the phone as you see it is fast and easy with flash of a stock rom

[Q] How can I tell if my flash counter has been tripped?

Hello,
I have the Samsung Galaxy Note i717R (from Rogers/Canada). I rooted it using odin v1.85 and then subsequently installed CWM a1 (which I am now coming to realize that this was an alpha release. Didn't realize that beta4 was out..I'm a noob). All went well however. I then decided to flash SAUROM and that went well also but not for long as I ran into some issues with some force closures. Not sure what caused this. Nonetheless, I decided to restore back to my stock rooted ROM using CWM. I would like to upgrade to CWM beta4 and possibly rety flashing the SAUROM but I am concerned of a few things like tripping my flash counter etc
My main question: How can I tell if my flash counter has been tripped? I am new to all this rooting stuff so I'm not sure.
Thanks
You put your phone into download mode, you can find the flash counter there.

Not yet. The devs will probly figure it out down the road. I wouldn't worry about it anyway. It seems Sammy doesn't look at it yet. At least there is no known case of it.
Not yet. I'm in no hurry to reset it tho. If I brick it, I brick it... it'll be my fault.

Dumb Question - On UnNamed. Going to ICS. How to prevent triangle?

Sorry about the stupid appearance of this question.
I flashed to unnamed last October and I bought a JIG to remove my yellow triangle and reset the counter. It worked.
I read that the new ICS roms disable the JIG ability and the counter gets updated.
I'm planning to flash to either CM9, Phone Bricker, or ShoStockv2. When I flash to those roms, how can I do so without updating my flash counter?
I tried reading the guide, but I'm confused as to what exactly I should make sure I do. The guide looks like a normal flash.
As long as you flash from CWM it won't trigger the count or triangle. Flash just like a GB ROM, no special prep. Only the odin-one-click of the leak has a bootloader (that is what causes the jig to stop working). The zipped ROMs won't have a bootloader.

the triangle will not come back. Just wipe and flash. Your already rooted and have a kennel installed.

As long as you don't flash boot loaders you'll be triangle less. Check out the mobile Odin thread also.
Also, TriangleAway (free on XDA, paid on Market) will nuke the triangle if you're on ICS.
Doesn't work when running GB.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
I bought a jig to prevent the triangle after it popped up. I flashed a ton of times with CWM it has never revered its head. You're fine and I'm on ICS now. Like others said just say no to new bootloader

As long as you don't flash any of the newer 1click which flashes the boot loaders like uckk6 and newer you should not have any issues. I went from unnamed 2.2.1 to fakerom than to shostock rc2 than up to rc3, rc4, rc5 and v1.0 with out any issues! Plus shostock does not flash any bootloaders in fact I am still running uckh7 2.3 bootloaders.

[Q] ??Stock GB or Stock ICS??

I need to return my Note back to stock. I rooted my Note back in Feb. the night I got it so I never did the official ICS update through OTA or Kies. Do I have to return back to GB that I started with or can I get by with flashing a stock ICS ROM, counter reset, and finaly Odin flash the stock recovery?
I appriciate any info ya'll guys are willing to provide.
ICS is the new stock... flash it.

Thanks! I have read several posts of people going all the way back to GB then doing the update to ICS through Kies. That seemed a little redundant and figured I'd ask lol. I assume all I need to do then is to flash the stock ICS rom, reset counter and then stock recovery (odin). Thanks again.

I think I misunderstood you. I thought you were asking which OS to use in order to be stock... not how to accomplish getting stock ICS on your phone. In any case I think if you are stock GB or stock ICS, Kies will work. But if you are running a custom/deodex version of GB/ICS, Kies will not work. That's probably what everyone was trying to tell you. So if you are running a custom ROM, you are going to need to flash a stock version of GB/ICS before Kies will work.

I gotcha. Actually been running JB for a while. Started of with GB which is when I rooted. Just didn't know if I had to go back to that or if I could just flash a stock 4.0.4 ROM before I retuned it for warranty (USB port issue). Bottom half of my screen doesn't register touch while charging.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
But does your USB issue affect the use of Odin? Be my first concern.
I don't believe it would. I can connect and is recognized on the computer and I can transfer files between phone and PC. I just have to unplug the cable from the phone in order for the screen to recognize touches around the lower half of screen
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Should be good to go then. I would Odin flash stock GB, reset and double check the flash counter. Check for Kies connectivity and pending ICS update availability. Throw a bunch of random apps on to give an appearance of use. Return for warranty all while pretending Android is a great mystery to you, even though we know that's not the case. Best of luck.
Resolved! I went ahead and took the following steps.
Flashed the stock rar file (GB) through Odin
Flashed cwm touch recovery through Odin
Flashed stock (GB) modern through touch recovery
Flashed reset counter through touch recovery
Used ADB to install stock recovery (did not trip counter this way).
Now completely stock (GB), I connected to kies and updated to stock official ICS 4.0.4.
All set to return it for warranty!!!
Thanks for helping out guys!

[Q] Flash counter

Hi everyone. Is is true that there is a flash counter on the S3? So even if I flash a stock rom (which i did) with Odin, it'll still increase and so I wont be able to use warranty if i ever need to?
I don't plan to root my phone, and i just used a different stock rom because my old one had the freezing-bug that happens a lot lately, so what do i have to do in case i ever have the need to send the cell to repair?
Thanks in advance.
it's true.
no, stock roms don't increase it

Thanks again...
I hope this is the right topic and I tried to find my problem but I couldn't.
While ago I had CWM flashed and Cm 10.1 running. Then there was some problem with my kernel so it kept freezing 1-5 minutes after boot. So I reflashed Samsungs ROM and it worked again. Then I flashed CWM again and tried to reset the flash counter using Triangle Away. It worked but always went back to one after reboot. So I installed CM 10.1 again and tried again and same problem.
When I had CM 10.1 installed first it worked perfectly. I could flash CWM and it wouldn't increase the counter.
I just flashed it again and tried to reset it again, but still the same problem. Do you guys have any idea what to do?
Thanks in advance
you have to be stock for it to be zero. CWM is not stock
Simple procedure
Run triangle away
Flash stock Rom
Enter recovery and factory reset (wipes data and internal sd)

But the thing is I got it to zero on CWM as well
Okay so basically I'm just holding on and leave it like this since I don't need my warranty right now and if I need it I'm running Triangle Away and then flash Stock.
I still think it's weird because it worked a couple days ago.

I think your confusion has arisen because originally you had an old bootloader....then when you flashed back to Samsung Rom if it was a later version it may have updated bootloader and that's why it always shows 1 now.You can flash back to the older bootloader if you want and your situation should be back to where it was in first place
Okay that makes sense. So if I wanted it to be zero and back on stock I would reset it, power off then in download mode then flash stock ROM again and then I'd a data wipe and my counter should be zero. Am I right?
Thanks for your help!!!
