How to flash an LG C555 (Optimus Chat)? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have an LG C555 (Optimus Chat) that I need to flash with a "stock" firmware (or any other). How can I do that? How can I get to the bootloader with this Android 2.2 phone? Where can I find firmware files for this phone?
Thank you all for your time,
Regards,
highmighty

No one knows? Bootloader for this LG-C555?
Thanks
highmighty

lg
get the lg updater software and find the right firmware and you are all set

The LG Updater detects my phone properly and tells me that I'm running the latest (V10D) firmware for this phone. I'd like to reinstall this version V10D of the firmware or even a previous one but I'm unable because I can't choose ANY firmware, I can't "upgrade"
Is there a way I could "break" the internal firmware hoping that the LG Updater would then allow me to install the latest one (V10D) on it?
For your information, my LG-C555 is network unlocked & rooted and currently runs Android 2.2.
Since I need to change the internal firmware I tried Gingerbreak (1.0, 1.1 and 1.2) but none of them seems to work.
I was able of pushing gingerbreak.apk (version 0, 1 and 2) to the /data/app folder with the USB debugging mode ON and I also have inserted a formated/mounted SD card in the phone. Then I installed the .apk normally, the installation started but never ended, it stayed in an infinite loop (more than 1 hour)... I had to reboot for those 3 attemps
What can I do next?
Thank you for your time,
highmighty

How to upgrade v10g to v20f (rooted and removed some bloatware)

(Edit: Crap... I've been trying to answer this question myself for so long that I didn't notice that I posted in the wrong section... maybe should be in help/troubleshooting... sorry)
I have been scouring the forums and google for hours.
I now have a rooted v10g; I previously removed some bloatware and I don't want to completely erase everything by using someone else's backup.
I have a nice v10g-v20g OTA zip file waiting to be flashed and I read that the LG PC Suite would be perfect to force the OTA onto the phone (despite my having removed bloatware) and I already installed the latest drivers from LG support website and the latest update of the LG PC Suite... but the damn LG Suite gives me the "The device information failed to load. Please check the following items: 1. Check your USB cable connection 2. If the connection fails, restart the device."
It appears that the available options are:
1. reinstall all system apps which would take a while then use voodoo OTA root saver to backup root, then run OTA update;
2. follow cMahendra's offline ROM flashing method (I did that for rooting and it took over an hour to get everything downloaded and installed.) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36351786)
3. backup my data that I need, then install CWM recovery or titanium backup and reinstall someone's backup, then restore my apps and data
4. get the freaking LG PC Suite to recognize my phone on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit system and force the update.
Is this an accurate summary of my options?
and can anyone suggest how to make #4 happen so I can make this faster?
Do offline flashing.
Sent from my LG-P769 using Tapatalk 4
I used option 2 (offline flashing) after downloaded the kdz file from LG site recently. Worked out fine.

[Q] Need help installing 4.4.2 Kitkat on my unlocked/rooted Moto G

I recently purchased the GSM Moto G and unlocked the bootloader/rooted my device. The phone is running 4.3 android, but I want to install the latest 4.2.2 kitkat. I can download the software directly from the phone through the system updates menu in the settings. However, when I try downloading it, it says that the device must restart to install. When restarting, the phone loads up in the bootloader menu and never installs the update. Every time I try starting up my phone now, it automatically tries to install the update by restarting the device and loading up into the bootloader again. I can no longer use my phone now because it continues to restart the device. I do I install 4.2.2 if I've already unlocked the bootloader? Thanks in advance.

Hello my friend! I don't have a Motorola myself but i did my best to do some research. First thing you want to know is that if you can download OTA update (the updates from your manufacture) you don't need to have an unlocked bootloader and some manufactures stop giving you OTA updates if you are rooted (Idk about Motorola but Samsung, Lg do this). You want to unlock your bootloader if you want to flash a custom Recovery and later install Custom ROM not when you want manufacture update. Here is a tutorial on how to flash your MOTO G to the last 4.4.2 using ADB. When you download the firmware be sure to download the good one. Good luck.

Press Thanks if i helped you.

Can I simply flash a 4.4.2 firmware or must I flash a 4.3 version and download OTA update from my device?

You can just flash 4.4.2 from start so you don't need to update from 4.3. There is no problem my friend. Good luck.

how to downgrade the lg transpyre to kitkat?

Hi guys, I am a newbie to smartphones in general and seem to have myself stuck in a loop. I have a lg transpyre that I was trying hard not to upgrade to lollipop because it would unroot it (I got it rooted before as kitkat). I guess at some points in time I forgot to uncheck the auto installing checkbox so now I have lollipop :crying:.
I have another identical transpyre that still runs rooted kitkat. I am researching on maybe somehow copying the operating system from this phone to the lollipop phone (I guess it calls flash?). So far it seems to me that such attempt would require both phones to be rooted.
Can anyone guides me to the right direction? I really appreciate any help I can receive!
I don't believe that VZW and LG put out the official kdz firmware files like they should to be able to update/downgrade that phone. Looks like you would need to do it via installing a custom recovery (TWRP) and using it to make a nandroid backup and transferring that to the other phone to restore.

That's how to install recovery. Install on both phones, backup to SD card, then use that SD card in the other phone to restore the system. Unfortunately, since there isn't a kdz file readily available, if you brick something, you'll probably be in trouble without an easy solution to resolve.

thanks and repped for your reply. I found a kdz file(VS810PU4_08) but my phone still has lollipop after (so I am not sure if the kdz file itself is lollipop or I wasn't successful at pushing it to my device). I thought a kdz is supposed to be the stock version that the phone comes with?
kdz is just the stock firmware, it does not mean the specific update the phone came with. I think the LP version is the only one around. At least you have that, so if you do decide to attempt the nandroid backup and restore, you have a way to fix it if it soft bricks.
still bricked

What method did you use to push the stock rom? I'm trying to use lg flash tool and it always tells me that the phone is disconnected.
Look for something called lg up. And also make sure you have the drivers for lg installed

Are you on VZW with a valid SIM card and are you on stock, unrooted and it's not modified? If any of your answers to even one of those questions is a "no" that is why. Considering you're still on Lollipop and MM has been out for a long time, my feeling is you have a modified image of some sort. If you rooted and then just removed root without flashing back to stock, that won't do it. Once rooted, you have modified the system partition of you phone and it will no longer accept OTAs.
If you have reflashed to stock, what did you use? From what I remember, if you used an earlier KDZ image before Marshmallow, there is a particular KDZ image that was based on a pre-release version I believe and it will NOT allow OTAs to come through.
You can always flash the latest MM image via KDZ but it's like a factory reset so back up all data (photos, etc) on your internal memory before you do it.
This thread explains how to flash via KDZ if you don't know how:

You can get the latest KDZ images from here:
