Hello everyone i am new to this fourm and just rooted my phone and i just wanted to ask a quick question of what is currently the smoothest rom?
I am also interested in some information about this.. I'm currently running the newest Villain, and it's annoyingly slow, though I don't know if this is Villain specific or what.

Well i heard Modaco is smooth but i am going to try villian now. I really want something like evil hero which i saw in a video running on the magic.

Yeah the Modaco ROM's are generally considered to be one of the most stable and smoothest around,... It was the first ROM I tried on mine 2 weeks ago, haven't felt the need to change. Now just waiting on Modaco 4.0 which will be released when there is an official 2.1 release for him to work his magic on. Definitely give it a try. But I also recommend you try some others. Its pretty simple to swap and change ROM's once you have installed the custom recovery console, only extreme laziness has kept me from giving others a try.

FOR SPEED, STABLE-NESS AND BEAUTY USE SENSEHERO ROM
its base on MCR(ModaCoRom) 3.1 or 3.2 not so sure but it's base on ModaCo which is for speed and stable-ness
and for beauty he used manup's SenseHero Theme..
worth a try..
MrBangCR concept Rom 2.0 (i think)
Fast, smooth, great performance. He used modaco as a base but made some important changes for performance
maybe you have used many ROM for your i9100,please poll your favourite, and tell us your use report about rom.THANKS
the following is the history of my use about rom:
lite'ning 3.0---CM7 nightly 1-15---villainROM 2.4---Leomar75 2.4 and 2.5 ---cognition s2 1.4,1.4.2 ---sensatioN 1.2,1.3--MIUI1.8.12--Lite‘ning 6.0 xxkh1
i think no best rom, there are only some ROM that fit you~
stock rom.. im going to try MIUI rom and CM7 rom, once they get a little more finished, till then Villain rom is basically a stock rom, that comes prerooted
Rigth now villain but i think im keen to try cognition s2 as it seems to be pretty popular looking at your voting chart.
THANKS~~and you could try cognition 1.4.0 and 1.4.2
cognition 1.4.0 kernel ninphetamine 2.0.5
cognition 1.4.2 kernel speedmod k1-t22
beacuse first time cognition adopt speedmod kernel~when i using 1.4.2,i could feel some unstable~
so i recommend you could try cognition 1.4.0 and sensatioN 1.3
they are battery friendly
Revolution for me.
Was on stock for a long time, also tried Cognition and Villain for lengthy periods. Stability is important for me, so no CM7. Had nothing but bad experiences with MIUI, won't go near it again.
Stuck with Revolution because it was the first ROM without a laggy stock browser in KG6 (don't want a 3rd party browser), supports a monochrome theme bugfree, love the OTA kitchen and updates, and Leo is a great dev.
Liked Cognition and Villain too - two great devs - but found my keeper
Which rom ???? xx rom version 1 may be good version 2 may be better and version 3 may be worse .
This is not a vote on a rom just a vote on a roms name .
jje
Lite'ning, Batista70, Criskelo, Villain, Miui, Cognition, CM7, Leomar, tried all with differents Kernell. Some serve better than others, Criskelo stayed longer. Now back to Lite'ning KH1-Speedmod-T22, fast and batery friendly.
I tried: CM7 nightly 20, MIUI, VillainRom, and Revolution so far. I voted revolution as it seems to be the most stable one for now.
prefer batista 3.5..super smooth
You want an option for 'no real preference'. I'm running villain but not through having done any comparisons or investigations. The kernel is the only interesting variable for me, not the ROM (other than making sure it is reasonably up-to-date)
yes~but i can't list all roms and all versions

What monochrome theme you using with Revolution, NitrozK's?
I'm with you on the monochrome mate...
no best,right~i like batista70
Cognition all the way - stock looking but amazing speed, clean, and bugless!!
Please add GingerMOD. I'm using this rom right now and it's the best of both worlds, aosp looks with the best of stock Samsung firmware. (ie. Camera, FM Radio, etc.)

Currently on Leo's modified Sikashi theme from his kitchen - it's excellent.
Haven't tried nitrozk's theme on Revolution yet - found it a bit buggy on Cognition, it's been updated many times since but work has now ceased.
Assuming that it won't work on forthcoming KH3, so no reason to change for me.
Baffled at the lurv for greens/blues/God-knows-what..

Have to say im surprised people are saying CM7, usually it most likely would come out on top if stable but it's far from stable at present and that's the reason i haven't flashed it, i want a stable build on my phone with everything working, Lite'ing ROM was the first i had a good it was but ive stuck with Cognition now for a while.

What do you mean not stable? i'm using it since build 16 and never had a fc or a random reboot, everythings i use works nicely apart for bt audio. The rom itself is smooth and clean

I don't understand how people are saying that CM7 is unstable, have you guys actually tried it? What problems have you had?
I've used it since version 12 and never had a problem with FC or rebooting. My only gripe with it is that it doesn't have bluetooth audio, but I knew that going in and I know it's high on the priority list for development.
Currently looking for a ROM with bluetooth to fill the gap until it's done though, as it's killing me not having the bluetooth for my car. But when that functionality is there, I'll be straight back.
Im testing the Docs Master ICS V12.1 on my phone and its like slow and laggy, is there another ICS build available that its stable and fast?

First and foremost, is there a particular reason you've chosen to run ICS versus the latest iteration of Android, JellyBean? You may not be aware, but running ICS has a great risk of causing near-permanent damage to your phone's internal SD card. You can read more about it here... LINK. However, if you accept the risk and would prefer to run ICS versus a newer version of Android, I would have to recommend ICZen. Before I got hit with the Encryption Unsuccessful error myself, I used ICZen as my daily driver. It's a really good ICS ROM, but remember, every and any ICS ROM has the risk of causing corruption. So unless there is a specific reason you're running ICS, I'd recommend switching to a JellyBean ROM (if you're after the latest version of Android).

I do have all the latest builds of JB and i love them but i have a huge problem where i live with signal strength and the JB builds do have the issue of lower signal, data speed, wifi and battery life. And for me and the kind of work that i do i need to have more life in my phone. Someone told me in another post that i need to stick with Froyo or GB builds or ICS , as of rigth now im running FishmanMod Blue 2.2 Frankestein V2 and its running great. So i was just looking for a ICS build to try.
AW: A great ics rom??
Take iczen

Hey so I rooted my thunderbolt which is 2.11.605.19 gingerbread
So what roms and kernels are compatible with this version or what would work.
anyone have any advice?
This doesn't exactly answer your question but:
Check the Development section for ROMs.
Personal opinion: upgrading to Ice Cream Sandwich is worth it, rather than sticking with Gingerbread. Try santod040's ROMs if you like Sense.
You can basically run any gb or ics Rom with any radio or kernel. As long as the kernel is built for whatever Rom you are running be it sense or aosp. The ota ics seems to run best on the latest radios. There is no custom kernel yet for ics Roms. Not until its released by HTC.

Just got my Thunderbolt, and it came with Liquid Gingerbread v3.2. How difficult would it be to get this thing to ICS, preferably Santod's de-bloated ROM or something similar?
I've read a bunch of the noob articles but was wondering what you guys thought. My goal is to get the newest available stable version of ICS on my Thunderbolt, without junk, and as smooth as possible.
Really don't care about if I have Sense or not - or should I? Do you guys like it?
Would you guys recommend Santod's debloated ROM?
Or is there a comparable Liquid Smooth ROM for ICS?
And has anyone gotten ICS 4.1 or 4.2 on the Thunderbolt?
Sorry if I'm walking on well-worn ground, but the pure amount of different ROMs and stuff around here is pretty overwhelming and I don't want to **** up my new Thunderbolt because I was too dumb to ask the advice of the experts.
Thanks guys.
4.1 and 4.2 are both jellybean and that isn't available for the bolt yet. You should probably try out the stock deodexed debloated version. If that doesn't tickle your fancy try unsense. Its stable and very close to aosp in the design.

Are there any particular special steps that I need to take? Since I'm already on Liquid Smooth, do I need go to to stock, update to ICS, THEN install the debloated version? Or can I go straight from where I am to Santod's ROM? I'd love a basic 1-2-3 set of instructions, something simple like
1. Install Revolution
2. Update radios with Revolution or Thunderbolt Tool
3. Download Santod's ROM
4. Put it on an SD card
5. Install it via Revolution
...or something! This is my first experience with rooting (ok, I rooted my girlfriend's Kindle Fire, but that was super simple).
Just read the first post and and follow the instructions listed there. I would suggest that you change from clockwork mod recovery, which your phone probably has, to 4ext. Issues are known to arise from using it since it is extremely outdated.
