Hey so I rooted my thunderbolt which is 2.11.605.19 gingerbread
So what roms and kernels are compatible with this version or what would work.
anyone have any advice?
This doesn't exactly answer your question but:
Check the Development section for ROMs.
Personal opinion: upgrading to Ice Cream Sandwich is worth it, rather than sticking with Gingerbread. Try santod040's ROMs if you like Sense.
You can basically run any gb or ics Rom with any radio or kernel. As long as the kernel is built for whatever Rom you are running be it sense or aosp. The ota ics seems to run best on the latest radios. There is no custom kernel yet for ics Roms. Not until its released by HTC.

Ive seen some ROMs running Rcmix kernal and confirm that it works for their ROM, but the ROM is based off the new update. Anyone been able to confirm that it indeed works for it?? Ill probably try here in a min but wanted to get some advice or feedback before I made that plunge.
No.
They are 2.3.3 only.
There are no custom kernels for 2.3.4 until HTC releases their source for 2.3.4

Just got dont rooting my phone and it was quite a process! Well now that that is done what would you suggest for a rom and kernel? I know its mostly my opinion but I would like some suggestions...please. I am going to try Myns new rom that he put out on 5\8 cause I have used his roms on my OG for the longest time. Any suggestions?
I just got done trying drop's ZR IC (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1641115) and am now flashing Team Nocturnal's (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1640134). Both are the new Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs. If you are not wanting to try these (as they are in beta), there are some good Gingerbread ROMs listed in my signature.
MeanRom the best Rom I've used thus there's a gingerbread version and they just released a great ICS rom

my liked roms
I found the Evergreen CM7 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611342) to work quite well. I put it as one of my top ROMs. Another one that I became fond of is MeanROM. I've tried both the Gingerbread and ICS versions. Overall both ROMs are stable and work just as you may expect them to.
hello everyone i want to asked that any gingerbread rom that run without GB Bootloader for vibrant
Why not just flash a GB bootloader if you want to run a GB rom? Do a search for Gingerbread bootloaders, or custom Gingerbread bootloaders for Vibrant.
You should be set then. If you run Gingerbread rom on Froyo bootloader, I believe you get a funky rainbow screen.. Not run into that problem myself.

If you're going to run a GB (Gingerbread) rom then you actually don't need a Gingerbread Bootloader for it to function properly. Gingerbread Bootloaders are recommended for ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) roms, which are known to have an issue known as "rainbows" when running with a Froyo Bootloader. Anyhow, if you still wish to use a Gingerbread Bootloader (although it is not necessary for a GB rom) you can find a dedicated thread here.
my friends also have vibrant and he change bootloader to GB bootloader.
when he stock back using odin his phone is dead no response no power button works that why i dont want to change bootloader
I also think you will get rainbows on boot with any I9000 GB ported ROM.
Ive Odin'd to JFD many times after flashing the GB bootloaders with no real issues. You could flash the GB bootloaders and if you ever have to Odin to JFD (Stock) reflash the Froyo bootloaders before.
thank you very much both of you for your replies

CyanogenMod 7 can both use either the stock or the Gingerbread bootloaders. I tried the latest nightly earlier and it was pretty great!
edit: Opps, I forgot the download link. You find it at get.cm (the CyanogenMod download center)!

I've been running MeanRom ICS. I wanted to give the sprint stock version a try. What's the best way to do this?
Thanks.
Oh, read the forums, I think about a gizzilion boot loops, problems, issue's

Well since you can't update ota if you are rooted, just find a stock rooted rom and flash it just like any other rom. As you SHOULD know from reading, you can't run the new kernel without the new hboot, so update to that if you want to use the new kernel.

The 2.4 version I do believe was based on the VM leak. His newest 2.6 version is based on the latest Sprint release, and works just great. I have been running it with no issues.
If you have S-off , you can upgrade the hboot and kernel to the latest. If not, you can leave the kernel and hboot you have and just flash the rom.
Just and idea.
Just got my Thunderbolt, and it came with Liquid Gingerbread v3.2. How difficult would it be to get this thing to ICS, preferably Santod's de-bloated ROM or something similar?
I've read a bunch of the noob articles but was wondering what you guys thought. My goal is to get the newest available stable version of ICS on my Thunderbolt, without junk, and as smooth as possible.
Really don't care about if I have Sense or not - or should I? Do you guys like it?
Would you guys recommend Santod's debloated ROM?
Or is there a comparable Liquid Smooth ROM for ICS?
And has anyone gotten ICS 4.1 or 4.2 on the Thunderbolt?
Sorry if I'm walking on well-worn ground, but the pure amount of different ROMs and stuff around here is pretty overwhelming and I don't want to **** up my new Thunderbolt because I was too dumb to ask the advice of the experts.
Thanks guys.
4.1 and 4.2 are both jellybean and that isn't available for the bolt yet. You should probably try out the stock deodexed debloated version. If that doesn't tickle your fancy try unsense. Its stable and very close to aosp in the design.

Are there any particular special steps that I need to take? Since I'm already on Liquid Smooth, do I need go to to stock, update to ICS, THEN install the debloated version? Or can I go straight from where I am to Santod's ROM? I'd love a basic 1-2-3 set of instructions, something simple like
1. Install Revolution
2. Update radios with Revolution or Thunderbolt Tool
3. Download Santod's ROM
4. Put it on an SD card
5. Install it via Revolution
...or something! This is my first experience with rooting (ok, I rooted my girlfriend's Kindle Fire, but that was super simple).
Just read the first post and and follow the instructions listed there. I would suggest that you change from clockwork mod recovery, which your phone probably has, to 4ext. Issues are known to arise from using it since it is extremely outdated.
