What's the best ROM available atm? I've just bought the phone and I'm looking to flash something nice onto it
By 'best' I mean stable, best battery life and as clean as possible with no bloatware.
Could you please provide a tutorial on how to do it as well?
All help appreciated and thanks in advance!
See the dev section, and you have sticky thread that will help for all things related to flashing etc....
And for the best rom, I don't test anyone so can't say but I think you'll have to test them before find the best for you.

put on .73, root it, the fastest way for me is this:
- flash stock .73 (the one for your zone is right)
- unlock bootloaders
- flash doomkernel (autorootting kernel)
- boot and check root.
- flash stock kernel (unzip .ftf and flash kernel.elf)
once you have a yourcountryrootted .73 you can
- remove all the bloatware you don't need
- replace systemUi and Framework to get the very usefull toogle bar that i missed much from my old Samsung SGS1
- if you want replace semccamera
here you got your PERSONAL rom. as i got mine !
(this way to root is my personal way, that's becouse you can't make a prerooted img of .73 italian as you can't mount it as loopback partition... btw is better than the prerooted roms, just becouse you don't need to download megs and megs...)
Just as note... i don't blame doomkernel about anything... just i prefer to have the stock kernel becouse i use my phone also for business purposes and i need 100% sure stability, and i didn't got time to test doomkernel...
try XPeriaSspeed w/ doomkernel 9006
im super satisfied w/ it nice batt life quite fast as well.

happy with it 'cos now i can download gameloft game data as wifi is not working good before.
but is it worth putting [ROM][ICS][Neo/Neo-V]Locked/Unlocked BL] JJ's HYBRID ROM v3.0
that rom on my neo instead of stock 4.0.4?
any advantages available from this not in the stock 4.0.4?
Thanks for reading people

How about you read thread of that rom, and see what it brings new to you. Then make your own choice if that is what you need from rom?
i suggest you to stick to the stock rom . it is the most stablest and is official too .
Yeah stick with the stock ROM, root and with a little tiny tweak you will have the best experiences ever ....

I don't know too much about rooting for ICS. I rooted my phone since it's GB .
Tweak some little things: root and uninstall not used apps (some app you can't do uninstall the common way), install some useful apps, go to settings and change some options for battery life and performance (disable Bravia Engine, FB inside Xperia, location services, some app's sync...), do backup and enjoy.
After some time racing for custom ROM, I ended up missing the stable GB ROM for Neo/ Neo V , but now I'm happy enough with KA 20.1 ROM.

Hi, for Feralab V20, 2 versions are available:
1) for LB (Locked bootloader esp those who are newbie and don't want to void their warranty)Everything is set if your phone is rooted Official 2.3.3Gingerbread, just flash the ROM via recovery. And Done, Enjoy
2)for UL (Unlocked Bootloader for intermediate and daring experienced flasher)Need more steps like unlocking bootloader, flashing kernels, wifi fixes)
ROM Link Here
If you're newcomer and not so used to XDA yet, i recommend you try locked bootloader version first.
Comprehensive Installation Guide by FeraVolt: Click Here , find for Locked bootloader Section because the guide got 2 versions
About HDgames, i'm not sure. So far best ROm for gaming is DiXperia8 by DiKeJ Gaming Rom for Premium Users
Hope this helps

Sure Welcome I see. You in DooMKernel huh?
JAF 2.3.7 is last development ROM version 2.3.7 by Retiring FeraVolt as you can see. JAF ROM is very stable and smooth ROM for daily Use in your life activites like listening XLoud-music and HTC Beat-Audio support (double louder than 2.3.3GB Stock ever can do with its speaker) And Enhance video/photo capturing quality + Nice Tweaks in its speed, function and so on It will be at its peak status if accompanied along its FeraKernel specially made for itself by senior FeraVolt
Many features i coud'nt explained but these are best things in JAF ROM For more features, read this:

Good morning again,
I tested Ferav19 not 20 Locked (smooth and stable), but not JAF cos i kinda sticked to DonutHD ICS-ish look. LOL No Both Different ROM. you just have to choose one of them as your Custom ROM. Feravolt said before in the title, ''Just Another FeraLab Rom"
Hmm, i think you're confused before because of maybe seeing 3ROMs (ICS, FeralabV20, and JAF) combined somehow in thread
To make your life easy, here's link for threee ROMs:

Seriously, which part is confusion?
For feralab v20:
Installation:
- Download Rom, Kernel and if you want Customization pack from HERE
***
UB For Unlocked bootloaders
LB For Locked bootloaders
Customization pack for both bootloaders
p.s.
Kernel for LB will be integrated with rom.
Kernel for UB have to be flashed through Flashtool and includes .71 Baseband
Kernels works fully only on v20 Rom..
if you want to use different kernel - don't forget to flash wifi modules)
***
- Format SYSTEM, CACHE, SD-EXT (If you have partition on SDcard (do it from CWM recovery))(and Format DATA if you want to clear your data)
- Mount SYSTEM, CACHE, DATA
- Install ROM
- After it boots first time, wait 2 min. and reboot
- After you configured ROM Wipe Cache and Dalvik-cache
- UB version users..flash this fix in xRecovery
The steps are so simple. This sentence "Customization pack for both bootloaders
" means that the customization pack is suitable for 1) locked bootloader x10 and 2) unlocked bootloader x10. That's why you would only see one download link for the customization pack.
Since you claimed that you are newbie, I recommend you to ignore the customization pack.
Just install the v20 rom, the rom itself is good enough. The customization pack is for advance player ( take it this way).
Regards

Oh right? Mediafire one right? Don't worry, if it doesn't say for Unlocked or Locked, Means compatible to both bootloaders. About its function, i'm not sure, probably helps in Installation/Customization Wizard thing. If for Wifi, flash FeraKernel Will solved. but if other than Ferakernel,

Original Non-Overclock value for x10i is 998MHz (~1GHz). If you see the value is higher than that, Yes it's overclocked. You can check by using apps like SetCPU or ROMToolbox to observe Kernel's overclock Value. And also set governor to optimize your performance/enhancing battery lifespan. All the Best

1. best performance is subjective but many people have had better luck with custom ROMs because they contain much less bloatwares compared to the stock firmware.
2. You only need to flash a custom kernel to optimize battery drain. You don't need to flash a custom ROM for that.
Although, you have to note that, all custom ROMs are bundled with custom kernels.
3. When it comes to enjoying cool themes, then custom ROM is the way.
You will even enjoy much better and probably endless theme options on AOSP ROMs.

Hello everybody,
I just started this thread to which version of android i have to install in my phone Sony Ericsson live with Walkman WT19i
So the thing is im using stock Android 2.3.4 with firmware 0.62 unrooted and what are the possibilities of rooting
Is 2.3.4 rooting is good and mod some UI like this ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2162275 ) because i like the performance of Gingerbread or 4.0.4 ICS it as alot of features than GB but have some lag on it
What im saying what is the best android version in order to get Ultimate performance in my phone
Possibilities :
New UI
UI no lag
battery backup good
Good features and lots more
no lag on Games
I'm waiting for the good answer to conclude which is the best way...
again another way of asking for best rom
Dude I already told you about that and moreover you shouldn't ask this question and even the section you have posted is wrong.
All I can do is tell you about the ROMs but the best one will be the best that suits you.
Stock(+Custom) GB ROM: These are high on performance and made for gaming and simply are lagless. With some custom ROMs and great mods you can get great UI on your GB and can get ICS feel with GB performance in it.
Stock ICS ROM: Lots of bugs and lags but the UI is not bad but can be better. Also this ROM is really low on performance and gaming and is even loaded with bloatwares and if you are rooted then there will be something wrong with you if you are still using this.
Custom ICS ROM: You can get greater looks, more performance than stock ICS but you may lack a bit on performance(but better than stock ICS) since it is really difficult for any custom ROM also to match the performance of GB but most are stable and good enough for average use. Obviously you need root for this.
JellyBean ROM: Since sony hasn't released(and may never) a JB ROM for our phones so we don't even have an official kernel. Thus you need an unlocked bootloader which will obviously void your warranty. But JB roms have beautiful UI, nice animations and while using CM10 I didn't experienced much lags as such.
Now after reading this you can decide yourself which suits you the best and try different ROMs of it. But don't ever ask for best. Best of luck.
Best Regards,
AJ

Hello, everyone. I just bought an old Xperia mini and it is very slow (lagging so much) and I think an upgrade to Kitkat could help it faster but I am not sure about it and do not want to waste the time if it is not really worth it (newbie). So, could you help me with these answer?
1. How approximately fast (percent?) is the Kitkat custom room (carbon rom, pacman...) vs. 4.0.4 Sony xperia mini stock room?
2. How big is the custom room (typically) in comparison to the Sony stock room (My phone always notified me that there is not enough space to install apps despite the fact that I moved most of apps to SD card)
3. (Do not know it is suitable to ask) Which Kitkat custom room is the smallest size? I do not need to customize and my need is very basic.
4. Could I return to Sony stock rom (4.0.4) later if I want?
Thank you

1. it will blast you away. never thought it could be that good (Sony ics is very laggy:silly
2. ROM storage & data (app) storage are to diffrent partition a smalller rom doesent means really u will hav more space for apps, but:
a) never had space probelms with any LX build in apps (& yuo said your needs are basic)
b) u can use mount2sd or app2sd to put apps on SD to gain more space
3. if you say ur needs are basic use LX CM10.1 it has all the basic stuff & works great (better than kitkat bcuz there are many other problems due to lack of proper drivers.) mostly al other roms (PAC & carbon etc) are built on top of it or using as base.
4. yes you can flash a stock ICS ftf file via flashtool. software will be like out of the box.

its just something i would advice to you. you said you have simple needs & all fw (CM -10.1, -10.2, -11) look quite same, only KK CM11 is a bit more with eyecandy. also its the stablest one (best battery & best working drivers from all LX's) at the end its your choice
CM10.1 - stablest & best working
CM 10.2 - somewhere between those two
CM11 - newest

I just installed CM 10.2, it blows me away with speed, it's awesome in comparison to stock rom. Thank you very much, thank Dev team LX.:victory:.

I use stock rom in my e10i for bugless experience.
one thing i notice that there is no custom kernel for stock roms
want to develop one with features like OC,cpu governers etc but cant find ant guide
you want to help?
