HELP (Am I bricked?) - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I was using Kevin's multi-tool and managed to screw something up (my fault, not the tools). Basically, I formatted the /system partition, and it seems my recovery is gone as well.
My current status is EXPRESS PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.13.0000

It seems that if I could find the right RUU file, I could flash it using fastboot. The problem seems that I formatted /system, so there is no way to enable USB Debugging, thus adb doesn't work from fastboot mode.
Could someone tell me which RUU I should try?

GB and HC and HC to GB both here. Just plug your tablet into your computer and run the one you want.

Both were?

If you can get into Fastboot , you can flash recovery

How did you manage to format system while still S-ON and locked?

I had S-OFF and CWM, then formatted /System. Then went back to Fastboot, did something stupid, and was stuck. Sadly I was also near an empty battery. Fortunately I also have a Flyer, so last night, did battery transplant surgery. Now I am good!

Due respect (and I do appreciate your work here!), but I totally disagree. The dev sub-forum is filled with people asking questions and help from the software downloaded from here, as well as countless threads about S-Off, downgrading, recovery from brick, etc. The multi-tool is downloaded in this sub-forum. Plus I suspect the people that know about kev's multi-tool that don't read this sub-forum is very small.
I could have posted in General or Q/A, but I doubt I would have had much response.

There are only 3 pages worth of threads and none of which are about troubleshooting a specific issue. You're not going to get much help if you going to be annoying about getting attention. As you said yourself, the problem isn't the tool's fault so it's not even relevant where you downloaded it. You seem to have a problem following directions. I don't think devs can help you with that. As for the proper RUU, common sense searching will find that.

Oh come on dude. Get on my irc channel. I will be on for another hour and will help you. DO NOT POST ON THIS FORUM about things like this. CONTACT ME

No I have a evo view 4G. I happen to have a flyer as well. I mentioned the flyer just because I pulled a battery from the flyer to deal with my battery bricked view. And I've been around xda for 5 yrs, not so new...
But like Kev said (and I said in post 7), I'm good now, and the thread can get nuked.

I am agreeing with reefermattness. If you are having this much trouble understanding the step by step guides you need to research everything you do not understand before you attempt to root your phone. Not trying to be harsh but that's what the internet is for. We aren't going to hold your hand and teach you every term and show you how it is done. That is what the guides and videos are for. Sadly if you cannot understand that you should not even attempt to root your phone. Please do your research first.
If I remember right, 1.53 hboot means you are GSM. If so, I'd start here:

Yes its true we are all noobs at one point in time. Honestly I am not trying to dog on him. We're trying to figure out what he doesn't understand. The poor guy hasn't specified what he's having trouble with. It's hard if we don't have an idea. I am more than willing to lend him my knowledge. Thank you for stepping in and helping Ryan out. I will have more patience in the future. Good luck Ryan.
Here is another noob yD..Well, I had Xperia x10, we had "Flashtool", "s1tool"..and that's it ..You could do whatever you want..I have feeling that this is "same", only other names..But..
I am really trying to understand methods, but whenever I read something more about s-off, I am more confused :/..
Here is what I am trying to understand..
I received official ICS (I have HBOOT 1.53.0007), and I was on HTCDEV site, where I did all steps..and I have ULBL..after that I installed recovery and SU..I want to do S-OFF and here problem begins..I don't know how, and I cannot find how..I mean, I can find, but not for this HBOOT version..Someone says that I should downgrade, someone says that I just have to do "wire trick"..
What is your suggestion..
Thanks!
Ryan the link that coal gave you is more than adequite, it is as straight forward as you can possible get, the only addition to that is s-off is required as you will need to flash a custom firmware package sooner or later, so the wire trick is required. Zink had a great tutorial on how to do it but it has since been deleted. Can I ask, why are you so adamant in rooting your phone? A piece of info as I am a evo gsm owner, all the rom's on the gsm development section suck, either they bootloop, crash or they have missing components.

[Q] How to install AtrICS ROM

Hi,
I'm an stock brazilian atrix(mb860) owner on version 2.3.6 Stock and Locked. I don't know much for this flashing things, but I really want to have this rom on my device.
But I'm really confused on the procedures... What do I need to do?

Thanks guys.
Hello there fella, please check this thread if you haven't done, it might point you in the right direction

I recommend you read it and learn how to do the procedures, as flashing may be an easy thing to do, but if you don't learn, you may end with an expensive brick in your desk.
After you've seen that thread, please don't hesitate to ask

I suppose the first question is, are you on mac, pc or linux.
But either way... here's the simplified answer.
Your first step is to unlock your boot loader.
It's not hard once you know how.
http://briefmobile.com/how-to-unlock-the-atrix-4g-bootloader
Follow the steps EVEN if your on gingerbread.
Then follow this one...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
There's some other ways to do this on mac too... but that stuff can certainly point you in the right direction....
I hadn't touched a motorola before, and I found it all easy. Bought it literally yesterday and had it all done last nite within an hour.
---------- Post added at 12:21 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:07 AM ----------
If i'd seen this post before I dug thru about 30+ posts last nite and the week before it would have saved me tons of time.
Mind you, I had the benefit of hacking HTC & Samsung in the past so I wasn't a complete noob in need of terminology descriptions. Either way, well done on the post jhonnyx.

NO, there is no requirement to have any minimum number of posts to see links on XDA. I don't know why people keep saying that. The only post requirement on XDA is that you need 10 posts to be able to post to Development forums.
Trust me on this, I have over 4000 posts, and I don't see the links either. All the links on the RUU thread are dead, so the links were removed. If you look at the top of the webpage, you will see the thread is now located in the "Trash", not in Development.

No offense, start with the FAQs here, people have put the time to into pre-answering these questions. Searching can turn up a lot also.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2160778
As far as I know you can't unlock on a mac, again, if it's been done, searching on mac in the Rezound section would turn up the process.
Good luck and enjoy your new phone.
sorry

Don't see why you couldn't unlock on a Mac. You just need adb and fastboot from the SDK, and the SDK is available for Mac

[Q] About missing file in Ultimate Recovery Tool 3.1 thread

I posted a fairly massive post about downgrade problems I was having here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52183418
My next task was to post in the recovery tool thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2124142&page=1 to note that when it says:
You'll also need the 1.20 or 1.22 RUU EXE (All the RUU's can be found here -> http://www.filefactory.com/f/4ef0ef536face67a/)

that file is missing, can't find it anywhere. But being less than 10 posts, I can't yet post in the dev forum.
Also, the post says I'll need the
The RUU ZIP image that MATCHES your current ROM version

No explanation of what this is or where to get it.
Elsewhere I found
http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Shooter and the closest I get is:
RUU_SHOOTER_U_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.28.401.1_Radio_11.77.3504.00U_11.25.3504.06_M_release_262714_signed.zip
But that still looks way off.
Any ideas? I'm really kinda stuck if I can't downgrade my hboot from 1.53. to 1.49.0007 or 1.49.0008
Let see how I can help, I know the cdma version, but ultimate tool is sort of used the same.

OK, I've attempted to write a "dummies guide" to unlocking, rooting and flashing a locked, stock UK EVO 3D which has never been modded before.
I did this because, as a new to flashing, rooting etc, I was having the following problems:
A lot of the guides were written before the EVO got the ICS update when the bootloader got update to 1.53.xxx
They assume a lot of knowledge about what rooting is.
Some of the guides are pointlessly dangerous - for example, the "deliberate bricking" trick.
Some of the "how to" forum threads are in excess of 3,000 posts.
Many of the videos on youtube are mindnumbingly tedious timewastes - of a typical ten minute video, the first 5 minutes is someone waving a blurry phone around while he says something like "hi guys, this is wnkr6617, ok guys, what I'm going to be doing today guys is showing you how to root your phone". Then a few minutes while he gives "shoutz" to his "crew", then the last 5 minutes could be far better explain by 4 lines of text and perhaps 1 image. If only everything was a clear as *can't post links - HTC DEV* and *can't post links - JuonputuBear guide* !
So, I've started on what I hope to be a simple, clear newbies guide to everything from installing the required Linux, to all the steps needed to take a stock, unflashed, untouched HTC EVO 3D and putting a new ROM on.
Take a look *can't post links* gist dot github dot com slash digitaltoast slash 11364569 - if you've got a Github account, you can fork, edit, and push back changes and suggestions, or just comment correct. This way the guide will always stay up to date and clear without having to page through 180 pages of forum threads.
If no github account, just let me know which section the problem is.
