I take no credit for anything. but just wanted to post this here in case there is something involved that will help the Dev's in getting the bootloader unlocked faster. Apparently this should work on any device that can use HTC's unlock method.
DEV's, maybe there is something here or atleast this guy who created would be able to help......

They are probably going to wait till sprint gets theirs released so HTC wont patch it real fast before release.
I'm sceptical about moving from locked BL to another. I'm using the epic now but had the photon before that and motorola just killed the rom experience for me with super encrypting the 4G keys.
That being said I believe the One X folks are still having issues with kernels and the temp partition directory
Definitely will be on the lookout. over/under on root for EVO LTE? 4 Days after launch?
To be honest, don't think it will even take that long if the bootloader isn't locked down. Some of these devs seem to work magic with how fast the *hit comes out.
A root method using htcdev unlock I say 90 mins after one of the devs gets it hooked up to a computer to check partitions, and update cwm and a create a superuser.zip that can be flashed, A root method not using HTC unlock I am thinking by the 21st so 3 days.
S-off I am not so sure on, but hoping that support document about the phone being in non user mode and describing how it got in said mode may help

According to the thread you linked to, that exploit is already patched. It doesn't look like it is going to help us. While OP's knowledge may help, his tool in its current state, doesn't seem like it will help.

It's using HTC'S Unlock Tool. It still just unlocks your bootloader but leaves you S-On. As I figured and stated in the main thread I figured our phone would be unlockable with their tool. As history has shown every other Sprint phone is unlockable. People were getting worried cause AT&T's One X wasn't. Every other One X was unlockable and AT&T is notorious for locking their phones so this was expected.

I'm sorry but have to disagree with you there. Saying what you are going to do and actually doing it are two very different things. I can say I'm going to give you a thousand dollars but until I actually give it to you, what I say means nothing. When we have an HTC unlocked bootloader on our phones, then we can say HTC kept their part of the deal. Until then it's just lip service. Even if they do 'keep their end of the deal', there's still plenty of room for corporate shenanigans. Don't get me wrong, I think they ARE working on something. However, as has been mentioned by several members of our own dev community, there are easier, faster and more direct ways to get this project done and HTC has deliberately avoided these methods. I am worried that the something that HTC is working on will not be quite what we want and expect. Sure they may give us the koolaid but we might not like the flavor.
I think that what facebook poster Jerome is alluding to is correct. It can't possibly take that long (September) to just unlock the bootloader. S-OFF bootloaders already exist and have been around since the beginning. We know that they work. This is not a new tech that HTC needs to develop. I think the wait has more to do with corporate politics, legal wrangling and bureaucracy along with a healthy dose of ifs, ands, and buts than any technical or distribution issue. I also suspect that when we do finally see these unlocked bootloaders, we will have to hold our noses to install them as they will likely come with some inpalatable strings attached that we will be forced to agree to in order to use them.
That's why I really hope the dev community here can get it done before HTC finishes their 'pageantry'. I know the XDA community will give it to us straight-no additives or preservatives. Even if they can't, I still appreciate their efforts as I know they will have tried their best. Finding a way around HTC's new security is a very tall order! But if they do manage to pull it off, the glory and satisfaction of winning they would snatch from HTC would be marvelous!

that's their fault for going with a Motorola.
although, Motorola isn't always to blame for locked bootloaders. The new RAZR for instance... Moto has offered it with the bootloader unlocked(and all countries getting the phone are receiving it that way). Good ol' Verizon didn't like that though and has ensured that it is remaining locked here in the US.

yeah I almost considered buying the bionic, glad I didn't. I planned to buy it after the development section started booming, it still hasn't. A few ROM's yes but not much to choose from and most are not well polished ROM's.
The rezound section here surprisingly looks very promising. I may have to get me one, again imma wait until development kicks off further here before giving up my droid incredible.
This is a factory s-off phone, done with an engineering sim. Don't get your hopes up, all it does is give Chingy a head start on his roms, it doesn't give users a way to s-off yet.

Thank you for the correction J. Hopefully in the near future it will get the true S-Off treatment.
Hi all, sorry if this has been brought up and debunked already, and with my limited knowledge of the rooting process this may not be possible but I saw this:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...nd-on-android-2-3-4-gingerbread-in-one-click/
From what I can tell, the Amaze isn't listed on the HTCDev site to unlock the bootloader either, but it sounds like the process still worked. Then one of the root methods was used for permanent root.
I don't have the level of expertise to try this safely, but hadn't seen anything about this elsewhere in the forum yet so thought I'd offer it up.
The bootloader has not been unlocked yet so that is only temp root.
Sent from my Galaxy Tab 10.1
I understand, however it seems the Amaze's bootloader was unlocked via the HTCDev website despite not technically being listed as a supported device either. Has anyone tried this with the Rezound yet?
I feel if that had been done and it worked it would be all over this site and the net.

Agreed, though it's got to start somewhere, and I haven't seen mention of anyone trying it. The article I posted claims it can be done, and is dated 11/10 but references another article dated 11/3, before anyone really had the device to try this out.

Don't post questions in the Development forum. That was a huge issue in the Desire Section. It makes it too hard to see what is what. The Rezound General, which is what this thread is in, is also a Q+A section.

Update 1: Initial phase is complete. All parts have been downloaded to my SDcard, and I have begun sifting through them. So far 31 and 34 appear to be very similar, with block 34 having been confirmed to be the "misc" partition.
Super duper idea for the Q&A section. I had no idea they were doing that. Thanks for the link.

The above link is to an EVO 3D GSM thread. Just curious if any of the dev's on the CDMA side of the house could test this on an EVO 3D CMDA version.
It is used to downgrade any version of GSM Hboot. Don't see why this type of exploit couldn't be done for us, but then again I'm not this type of dev.
~Jasecloud4
P.S. I understand that this is a question. However, I will be testing this tonight in various iterations, and if successful will post a full tutorial as soon as it is completed.

This can be harmful to the phone if not done correctly, the og evo had this going and some people have tries it and got bricked. Its plays around w ur block scripts and w bad/corrupted blocks can do damage. I was lucky w my og evo to be able to downgrade it but not others... Its a 50/50

this actually looks more promising than the last GSM hboot downgrade thread. A friend of mine and I were trying things - well, HE was, since he has 1.5 - like writing an old CID. All attempts failed, no bricks though But this NEW step of rewriting one of the mmc blocks *might* actually work. Hope some of the root devs give this a shot. I know one guy (my friend) who would test it. Has anybody gone into the shooter IRC chatroom yet and posted this stuff?

looking in the replies, no bricks to be seen.
If my assumption is correct, they are modifying the version in the misc partition, which is block 34 on the cdma. If I don't recall this is locked down in the cdma version after it was exploited to root the Evo shift. It's still worth a shot though.
I'm working everything right now. So far so good. Will update if successful. And will attempt to test this several times before I make it public. Give me a day...lolol

List of all the Evo 3D Partitions and their names. 31 doesn't seem to be known.
It's gotta be 34, but I haven't found a way to edit it yet without it coming up all zeros.
Both 31 and 34 are the exact same size, however, neither of them can be edited in a normal hex editor.
Ideas?
-Jasecloud4
I took a look at this and used "string /dev/block/mmcblk0p31" (and 34) and there is hardly anything in there of any use. I think that HTC is encrypting something so that we can't look at it. However, I am still on 1.40 HBOOT S-OFF'd by Revolutionary and I don't know if that makes a difference or not since the GSM method was done via the HTC Unlock Tool.
At this point, I'm not sure what else would need to be done. I mean, you may be able to pull the bootloader file from the RUU and look at it there and then push it to the phone, but I'm not sure.

You could try editing that and then pushing it back to the phone but I don't know the exact command to do so. I know you can do it with fastboot, but that is not my area of expertise lol it might be something like "fastboot flash misc hboot_1.50.0000_signedbyaa.nb0" once you hex edit it. Or maybe you can put the edited .nb0 into the original .zip and flash through the bootloader, I really don't know. Just throwing out some ideas for someone to test it

4. Im current;y at home, tommorow will be at work, and will make few photos with a piece of paper with my nickname, no problems with that.

Talk is cheap and people are skeptical. You know how it is.

I can't help but laugh/reply at this one. Soooo if all other information is top secret, can we meet up and you give me the scoup since i hold a Top Secret-SCI?
I'm gonna guess the method was probably leaked to the OP via someone inside HTC. Sometimes those leaks come with conditions, so the wait is expected. Waiting a couple months, when every other One series phone has been waiting for the better part of a year is definitely OK in my book.
If this is accurate, and it looks to be, having a working s-off method will be amazing.
Hey guys!
A fellow AT&T One owner was able to get an unlock.bin file from htcdev.com, leading me to believe that the bootloader on the AT&T HTC One might actually be unlockable. He has not gotten back to me with a picture of the HBOOT screen saying that it is unlocked, but the fact that he was able to get an unlock.bin file means that he got pretty far into the process.
Please go to htcdev.com and try to unlock your bootloader and report back here with results.
Thanks!
bump
I'll believe it when I see it.

Someone posted this in another thread. I'm getting so excited. If this is true, I am cancelling the Dev Edition and going into whatever AT&T store within 100 miles is willing to sell it to me early and picking this up tomorrow.

I may buy one local too if they will sell. I'll Keep the pre-order dev edition also. With 2 i'll have a better chance of getting a flawless one Plus i'll have one in hand while the other is sent back for gap replacement (assuming it has a gap) plus I dont think i'll have a problem selling it....Once you see this phone in person and hold it you will want it.

That's why I'm getting two. I'm sure I'll sell one after a while, but I want to make darn sure I get a flawless one.

So I was able to unlock on the HTCDev site and have used the All in one Kit to root and install clockwork recovery.
Just a heads up that it says ***TAMPERED on the bootloaded screen. LOL From what I read this is not a big deal.
Tampered comes from rooting

If you just unlock and flash a rom with root will it still show that? Or is it a result of unlocking also

Just because the bootloader is unlocked doesn't mean you can flash a kernel from a custom recovery. The (AT&T) One X+ was able to have an unlocked bootloader, but you still couldn't flash a kernel from a custom recovery.
Tapered comes from altering/removing stock is in any way
Help me unlock?!
I've got my One, just delivered today. I have *never* owned an Android before. So, this is super brand new for me. I have NO idea what I'm doing. I'm reasonably tech savvy, but I don't have time to google my bum off and do the self-teaching, since time is short... I want to get this bootloader unlocked-- How do I do it? I seriously have no clue. I have found the htcdev site, but I don't have any idea what to do with it, or what you have to do first, ANYTHING. Can someone give me a brief step by step on this?? You can assume that I'm smart and can figure out what you're talking about-- I just need brief step by step instructions. Please??
Go to HTC dev. Create an account for yourself
Click unlock boot loader. From the drop down menu choose other. Follow the directions from there
