Initiative For Dev'ing [Downgrading HBOOT 1.50] - HTC EVO 3D

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1372913
So I've decided to do as much as can to make this work for CDMA. Dunno about success but I'll certainly be giving it a whirl. Anyone with ANY KNOWLEDGE AT ALL ON THIS, please join in. Your help would be appreciated.
~Jasecloud4
Update 1: Initial phase is complete. All parts have been downloaded to my SDcard, and I have begun sifting through them. So far 31 and 34 appear to be very similar, with block 34 having been confirmed to be the "misc" partition.

Super duper idea for the Q&A section. I had no idea they were doing that. Thanks for the link.

cool. i wonder this as well. I've gotten used to 1.5 now but downgrading would be fantastic.

The above link is to an EVO 3D GSM thread. Just curious if any of the dev's on the CDMA side of the house could test this on an EVO 3D CMDA version.
It is used to downgrade any version of GSM Hboot. Don't see why this type of exploit couldn't be done for us, but then again I'm not this type of dev.
~Jasecloud4
P.S. I understand that this is a question. However, I will be testing this tonight in various iterations, and if successful will post a full tutorial as soon as it is completed.

i wont mind trying this i got 3 evo3d i wont mind trowing to the chopping block

This can be harmful to the phone if not done correctly, the og evo had this going and some people have tries it and got bricked. Its plays around w ur block scripts and w bad/corrupted blocks can do damage. I was lucky w my og evo to be able to downgrade it but not others... Its a 50/50
hTz 3D

this actually looks more promising than the last GSM hboot downgrade thread. A friend of mine and I were trying things - well, HE was, since he has 1.5 - like writing an old CID. All attempts failed, no bricks though But this NEW step of rewriting one of the mmc blocks *might* actually work. Hope some of the root devs give this a shot. I know one guy (my friend) who would test it. Has anybody gone into the shooter IRC chatroom yet and posted this stuff?

If this actually works it would be amazing but I can for see a lot of bricked phones, lol.....

Agreed I think I'll just sit back for a week or two before I dabble in this but I will definitely be keeping track.

looking in the replies, no bricks to be seen.

If my assumption is correct, they are modifying the version in the misc partition, which is block 34 on the cdma. If I don't recall this is locked down in the cdma version after it was exploited to root the Evo shift. It's still worth a shot though.

I'm working everything right now. So far so good. Will update if successful. And will attempt to test this several times before I make it public. Give me a day...lolol
~Jasecloud4

Anyone know which partition 31 is on the cdma? I'm guessing it's misc too but I'm not home atm so can't really check

List of all the Evo 3D Partitions and their names. 31 doesn't seem to be known.

It's gotta be 34, but I haven't found a way to edit it yet without it coming up all zeros.
Both 31 and 34 are the exact same size, however, neither of them can be edited in a normal hex editor.
Ideas?
-Jasecloud4

I took a look at this and used "string /dev/block/mmcblk0p31" (and 34) and there is hardly anything in there of any use. I think that HTC is encrypting something so that we can't look at it. However, I am still on 1.40 HBOOT S-OFF'd by Revolutionary and I don't know if that makes a difference or not since the GSM method was done via the HTC Unlock Tool.
At this point, I'm not sure what else would need to be done. I mean, you may be able to pull the bootloader file from the RUU and look at it there and then push it to the phone, but I'm not sure.
EDIT: Hmm... thanks to xHausx... http://dev-host.org/xfui8336bwj9/PG86IMG_hboot_1.50.0000.zip

You could try editing that and then pushing it back to the phone but I don't know the exact command to do so. I know you can do it with fastboot, but that is not my area of expertise lol it might be something like "fastboot flash misc hboot_1.50.0000_signedbyaa.nb0" once you hex edit it. Or maybe you can put the edited .nb0 into the original .zip and flash through the bootloader, I really don't know. Just throwing out some ideas for someone to test it

Moved to proper forum.

Thanks xHaus for the hboot.
Thanks Viper for the ideas. Will attempt to edit and flash through the boot loader, and if that don't work ill look at messing with the blocks further.

True they messed with misc, but they never attempted to rewrite the bootloader or actually decrypt the blocks...

I saw someone doing this remotely on ebay bro. Don't remember the charge. PM me if you get it done and tell me what works and what doesnt. I have a way to get 25% off your bill every month if that helps. This works if anyone else wants to use this i have for 4 years and everyone I gave this too has recieved the discount. follow it to the T . They don't want proof or anything. You will have the discount within 3 or for days. Don't forget to hit the thanks button e-1 . heres the link. If you want this post removed PM me and i'll remove it.

As tempted as I am to be blunt (it seems it's expected of me now), I feel for you. I know it's rough, and I can certainly relate, but I don't think you're going to find what you're looking for by posting this here. Just saying.
Good luck.
Idk about Boost, however, if you have Cricket in your area, I just flash my 3vo by using their tutorial on cricketusers.com
I know it's not Boost, but it's another inexpensive-ish mobile carrier based off of Sprint's network.

Wrong. Although this forum is full of smug jerks who are completely useless. I do try to help out when I come to pick up a new rom but avoid it like the plague when I don't need a ROM for this reason.
To OP this is totally doable by your self and you need patience and as im sure you will find out the method is a bit under the table. For this reason I paid someone else to do it im not a lawyer so follow all instructions on your own. If you can't find someone to pay you can do it yourself ebay guides are scam all the info is free if you look or keep reading my post. All the instructions you need are here at xda. First I would suggest rooting, temp root since MSL reader app requires root there are other methods to get your MSL aka SPC but they are a pain this is simple and works. After you root download MSL reader and get your MSL you will need for later. Now you will need your phone in DIAG mode with diag drivers. Follow the instructions here only to step 7 is needed. If it reads fine you are good to go if it does not read the phone you need to fix the diag drivers instructions here. Now you are ready to start instructions here at xda but in the epic4g subforum in this thread all the instructions are the same but you can skip 11. The only purpose of 11 is to get the MSL/SPC which you already have. You are done at step 17 but if you need mms to work check the EVO4G forums pretty similar to the epic but there is an extra menu or 2 but 3D and 4G should be the same.

that's their fault for going with a Motorola.
although, Motorola isn't always to blame for locked bootloaders. The new RAZR for instance... Moto has offered it with the bootloader unlocked(and all countries getting the phone are receiving it that way). Good ol' Verizon didn't like that though and has ensured that it is remaining locked here in the US.

yeah I almost considered buying the bionic, glad I didn't. I planned to buy it after the development section started booming, it still hasn't. A few ROM's yes but not much to choose from and most are not well polished ROM's.
The rezound section here surprisingly looks very promising. I may have to get me one, again imma wait until development kicks off further here before giving up my droid incredible.
This is a factory s-off phone, done with an engineering sim. Don't get your hopes up, all it does is give Chingy a head start on his roms, it doesn't give users a way to s-off yet.

Thank you for the correction J. Hopefully in the near future it will get the true S-Off treatment.
Hi all, sorry if this has been brought up and debunked already, and with my limited knowledge of the rooting process this may not be possible but I saw this:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...nd-on-android-2-3-4-gingerbread-in-one-click/
From what I can tell, the Amaze isn't listed on the HTCDev site to unlock the bootloader either, but it sounds like the process still worked. Then one of the root methods was used for permanent root.
I don't have the level of expertise to try this safely, but hadn't seen anything about this elsewhere in the forum yet so thought I'd offer it up.
The bootloader has not been unlocked yet so that is only temp root.

I understand, however it seems the Amaze's bootloader was unlocked via the HTCDev website despite not technically being listed as a supported device either. Has anyone tried this with the Rezound yet?
I feel if that had been done and it worked it would be all over this site and the net.

Agreed, though it's got to start somewhere, and I haven't seen mention of anyone trying it. The article I posted claims it can be done, and is dated 11/10 but references another article dated 11/3, before anyone really had the device to try this out.

Don't post questions in the Development forum. That was a huge issue in the Desire Section. It makes it too hard to see what is what. The Rezound General, which is what this thread is in, is also a Q+A section.
I tried with my Rezound...didn't work.
I tried also with no luck. Tried a few times actually. I thought HTC promised to never pull this crap again like they did with the tbolt

[Q] How to S=off on U.S version T-mobile

is that anyway can turn S=off on HTC Amaze by t-mobile? i did the bootloder unlock
Do a quick search--not possible right now.
You can have "S-On *Unlocked*" which will let you flash a custom recovery/system/kernel, effectively it lets you do anything you would normally do with S-OFF, the glaring ommision? flashing radio's, but you could always RUU to a new build including a radio, then revert back your recovery and backup if you wanted the newest radio... more at www.htcdev.com

If you had taken the time to properly search - you would see that it's currently not possible to S-OFF.
But it is possible to have S-ON Unlocked which allows us to do pretty much everything we need anyway.

RUU (which is easiest however may not be released)

I can't believe I'm writing a guide on how to use a forum! no disrespect
Not trying to be mean, but I guess you have never used a forum before! Forums have been around for as long as the internet has. There are stickies and rules on the top of every type of forum on the internet from cooking forums, to medical forums, to cellphone forums! People usually read the stickies in the forums first, before posting anything. Sometimes it says RULES, and sometimes it says READ ME FIRST etc. They have been posted there by people like you and me and sometimes the moderator to cut down on clutter and answer a lot of questions. The moderator or MOD has the ability to make those stick on top of the forum page so they can always be visible and read
can I ask you a question, what phone did you have before the amaze?

HTC Bootloader Unlock

I take no credit for anything. but just wanted to post this here in case there is something involved that will help the Dev's in getting the bootloader unlocked faster. Apparently this should work on any device that can use HTC's unlock method.
DEV's, maybe there is something here or atleast this guy who created would be able to help......

They are probably going to wait till sprint gets theirs released so HTC wont patch it real fast before release.
I'm sceptical about moving from locked BL to another. I'm using the epic now but had the photon before that and motorola just killed the rom experience for me with super encrypting the 4G keys.
That being said I believe the One X folks are still having issues with kernels and the temp partition directory
Definitely will be on the lookout. over/under on root for EVO LTE? 4 Days after launch?
To be honest, don't think it will even take that long if the bootloader isn't locked down. Some of these devs seem to work magic with how fast the *hit comes out.
A root method using htcdev unlock I say 90 mins after one of the devs gets it hooked up to a computer to check partitions, and update cwm and a create a superuser.zip that can be flashed, A root method not using HTC unlock I am thinking by the 21st so 3 days.
S-off I am not so sure on, but hoping that support document about the phone being in non user mode and describing how it got in said mode may help

According to the thread you linked to, that exploit is already patched. It doesn't look like it is going to help us. While OP's knowledge may help, his tool in its current state, doesn't seem like it will help.
TeamAndIRC Proof in the potato, our potato method will s-off all current htc phones http://t.co/K6CXKBHi
I hope it works on the LTEvo

It's using HTC'S Unlock Tool. It still just unlocks your bootloader but leaves you S-On. As I figured and stated in the main thread I figured our phone would be unlockable with their tool. As history has shown every other Sprint phone is unlockable. People were getting worried cause AT&T's One X wasn't. Every other One X was unlockable and AT&T is notorious for locking their phones so this was expected.

They've proven that time and time again, it sucks that we have the worst 4g network but sprint is still pretty cool.

Well its the same.....the AT&T version was able to be unlocked but not get S-off. So basically someone will still need to get S-off in order to be able to do the good stuff.

Still, regardless of the processes involved, it shows which company is less absorbed. Yay Sprint.
I'll definitely have a rooting guide out the day I get a hold of my phone

I believe all say Oct 23d, But your right. also it says locked. can you gain the locked status back instead of re-locked if you have s-off?
Why don't you guys just be thankful and patient. You see a screenshot, and he was nice enough to give a timeframe.....he owes you guys nothing,

Ok, ill answe all Q in one post)
1. just 5 posts, cause im new here, im a russian developer and mostly making mods & tweaks for russian "xda-analogue" called 4pda.
2. long wait? Its not a long wait for s-off, need to do few more things and compile everything normally.
3. All DNA for now comes with date 23, Oct. Checked 4 devices.
4. Im current;y at home, tommorow will be at work, and will make few photos with a piece of paper with my nickname, no problems with that.
5. Its not test-device for reviewers, this device was bought less then a week ago.
6. Yes, u can get locked status again, instead of re-locked.
And one more thing: Source codes, or methods, or exploits WONT be released for public. Sorry, but It's not negotiable

So does this mean that we will not be able to get s-off, if you won't release the exploit? Or are you just not releasing HOW you did it?

U will be able to get S-OFF, other info = top secret
I can understand folks being hesitant. There was a donation thread for a guy who guaranteed to have working root for the Verizon Note II. Not only did he get a free phone, none of his methods worked.
Talk is cheap and people are skeptical. You know how it is.

I can't help but laugh/reply at this one. Soooo if all other information is top secret, can we meet up and you give me the scoup since i hold a Top Secret-SCI?
I'm gonna guess the method was probably leaked to the OP via someone inside HTC. Sometimes those leaks come with conditions, so the wait is expected. Waiting a couple months, when every other One series phone has been waiting for the better part of a year is definitely OK in my book.
If this is accurate, and it looks to be, having a working s-off method will be amazing.
