I have to hold down the power button while inserting the battery for the phone to boot. Does anyone have a fix for this?
What comes up when it does boot
And what did you flash?
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2
I flashed derpunlock.spf with RSD Lite.
When I get it to boot it will go into android as normal. The power button functions perfectly once I am booted into android.
Strange. Well it doesn't seem like a big deal if it boots and your unlocked.
But if you want wipe all flash stock sbf and then unlock... And see if that solves your problem.

Yeah, I ended up flashing a stock sbf and it's back to normal. It must have been a bad flash with derpunlock. I'm going to flash it again and see if my power button breaks again. Thanks for the response.
For some reason when I flash the the unlock sbf, it turns my phone off instead of restarting it. This is what breaks the power button from functioning.
Has anyone experienced something like this?
Yeah, Olegfusion, for what I know. And he got it repaired, with the RSD Lite hack method of unlocking. But it's not so easy and a little dangerous, if you do not do the steps right. And that method was tried only by me and Olegfusion. And we both are stuck unlocked. I think, you don't want to do this.

Atrix 2.3.4 - 4.5.91
First off, I've done like 10 hours of researching today so please bare with me.
I thought I had unlocked my bootloader and rooted my phone in the past. I'm able to tether so that was a sign I did it.
Today I attempted to install romracer cwm based recovery with rom manager. When i tried to install Rom from the sd. it restarted and said "failed to boot 2" after doing some research it said it was possible my bootloader was not unlocked. Now I think i did the right steps back when.
How do I find out for sure if my boot loader is unlocked.
I'm doing all this because Im attempting to get my phone back to stock as can be. I want to get it back to warranty for the following reasons
1) my video play back is all messed up on my recorder. (will a sbf fix this)?
2) when i insert a external sd card to my atrix, my screen sometimes turns black when it wants to).
So this is where i'm stuck. I read the newbie threads. Thanks for all the info. But man this "failed to boot 2" scared me. Luckily it didn't brick my phone. Took out battery and it started back up.
Help please
If your unlocked it will say unlocked in red letters at top of screen when turned on. If you aren't unlocked its possible you have just rooted your phone I think not positive that a factory reset would unroot your phone. Just go into recovery hold volume down when turning it on cycle down with volume down and choose with volume up in recovery both volume rockers are used to navigate and power is choose.

.tried what you told me. Got a android guy and “!” next to him. My phone doesn't say unlocked. I took out battery to restart it cause it froze with android guy. Any more info
So i did a factory reset. I guess there was more steps i need to take when I saw the android logo and "!". is my phone unrooted thanks for anyone who can help. As mentioned before. I don't think my phone was ever unlocked because I didn't see it when I started up my phone.

Use pudding thread to unlock your bootloader, install Rom Racers CWM via fastboot after you are unlocked. If you want to make sure you are rooted after that, use the Moto root, stuck at top of the General section.

i doubt I can flash without being bootloader being unlocked. I did a hard reset. wiped everything out. So thats why I was asking if that unrooted my phone.

You can flash to stock if your bootloader is locked. I did it and worked like a charm.

I put the miui rom on my phone and i did the factory reset so now i have to reactivate my phone. The problem is it wont reactivate when i dial *228 it says problem with activation. What could be the problem please help.
Try *22899
got the same thing
Unless the Verizon activation is down again. Was a few weeks ago. Just curious as to why u did a factory reset in miui?

Update...activation works scratch that.

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. Called Verizon and they were doing updates. Next morning I called and they said it was back up. However I still could not activate then I restored to stock and activated no problem. Then restored my cm7 without activation and then it was fine.
Do a backup now and restore back to stock. Activate and then restore your miui.
Can I sbf? If so does anyone know any good tutorials

Did you do a nano back up of your stock rom? If so just restore that. If not do that first before making changes that way you can save yourself from a SBF.
if you do not know how to do a nano backup follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318083
Sadly no does that mean I am screwed

Follow this to sbf http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317707
Then after you activate root and download the tenfar recovery from stickies then make a nano backup first that way if you get in trouble you just restore back to stock.

No problem the sbf is not as bad as some might make it sound. You just have to make sure you download all the drivers and the SBF file and rsd lite. If you get stuck do be scared to ask. Also if you never did a SBC remember to get your phone to communicate with rsd lite you turn phone off and hold power and volume button up at same time and it will boot you to red mode then you are good.

+1 takes a couple min to download and install beyond that its easy easy lemon squeezy

Also if your phone bootloops after sbf do not panic it is normal sometimes coming from a custom rom. You can fix it easily by doing a restore factory reset in android recovery not bsr. If you do not know how to do it let us know and we will explain it.
So if you do bootloop after sbf rebooted your phone 100% then pull battery and put it back in. Now instead of hitting up volume and power this time use down volume and power at same time. You will see fastboot use volume down button to scroll down to android recovery. When you see android recovery then hit volume up this will bring you to android and big grey triangle then hit both volume up and down at same time. Now you will be in android recovery. Volume rocker to factory reset and hit the power button and use volume buttons to choose yes. After its done select reboot and you will load up just fine after that.
Let us know if it works for you. Or if you have any more questions. Remember cm7 is awesome unless you need HDMI. Eclipse is great as well and HDMI works. I have eclipse nano back up so if I need HDMI I can just restore.
Did all the stuff last night it all worked fine. I had the bootloop and it worked. Reactivated it with no problem. Once again thanks for all the help.

Perfect now you can try a rom if you like it then back it up. I have had up to 4 different Roms backed up so you can restore which ever you like. Glad it helped! Just make sure you stick with the same kernal like the 2.3.4. If you ever go to 2.3.5 you will have to sbf back to 2.3.4 to get the kernal right.
If you could put [solved] in your title next to your problem and this might help someone else with the same issue.
current condition: 2.3.4 stock/unlocked
I'm trying to relock my photon, I tried the quick method by factory reset then flashing back stock recovery, then rsd the nopuddingforyou.sbf file. End result is *failed to boot 1* error.
And I can't pull up recovery via pwr+dwn...screen goes blank with that.
The only way back to booting up android is flashing *derpunLock.sbf* and it still saying unlock at top of screen.
I tried rsd'ing the full 198-7.sbf file.
It completes, reboots phone and same error *failed to boot 1*
Again, only way back to booting android is..
Flash with rsd, the derpunlock.sbf file
Which leaves me with a fresh install and an unlock bootloader.
I was using the root-unlock-relock "kit" lokifish has on his martian imporrium site (sorry if I missed spelled it.
Any suggestions, thanks id appreciated

Can you get fastboot running to reflash CWM recovery? If so, do it, then wipe data/factory reset in CWM, reboot into RSD mode, then flash 198_6 sbf? Try it! Be sure to charge the phone all the way.

Or do you, mean, flash cwm when im stuck at "failed to boot 1"? ? Cause when I'm at that point pwr+vol down is not an option.(phone boots flashes something real quick and goes blank)

You will relock once you wipe and then SBF...but you need to get into fastboot first...so turn off the phone, and then press pwr+vol down...it should say Unlocked fastboot..then hook it up to the computer...reflash CWM if you can..
flash the CWM recovery.img like before and then cmd: fastboot reboot
Reboot the phone into RSD mode..and flash the SBF...

Same results "failed to boot 1" so I flash derpunlock.sbf then it boots.

"failed to boot 1" got back up flashing derpunlock.sbf.
I'm 2.3.4 build 154.5 unlocked.

im using ver. 5.6 is there a better version to work with for photon or is that it.?

But you can move freely to whatever build you want?

No, I cannot flash full sbf normally, I must hack it, after rsd creating image, right before flashing (when the phone reboots), with cg3 and cg42 from derpunlock.sbf, if I remember it right. .
Rsd temp dir is somewhere in user\appdata folder.

As the title says, is there a way to turn off the phone that is stuck in bootloop? Only thing I can think of would be to let the battery drain but I just wanted to know if there were other options that I didn't know of. I need to do this so I can safely attempt to get into fastboot without potentially bricking the phone.
Hold volume up and power to get to recovery. You should be able to do this while it bootloops
