is it detected by adb at all? like when running "adb devices" in CMD?
also, what you mean logcat doesnt work? (i can help you get it working again) if the kernel isnt booting then most likely adb wont pick it up.

also, can you tell me what you've done so far? im interested in helping with this.

Its ok, Eclipze isnt being a glory hog. he just answered the question the way that i expected. he most likely didnt change much ATM. meaning he was setting a baseline for the development. (cause you dont want to go and change a bunch of things at a time, you want to do little by little) so no need to get mad bro just let us figure this out for now. thanks

yup, thats the tricky part. but there are a few files you can mess with to get it to boot. (cant remember which off the top of my head)
also, you might have to edit the kernel to use regular drivers since MIUI is build off of the AOSP builds of android and sense uses different drivers than AOSP android
sweet, all these ROMS have been sweet, but im tired of HTC's bull **** in regards to the kernals we need

Keep in mind that developers work hard in their spare time to share their work with everybody, free of charge. Being rude and disrespectful towards developers is what hinders development. If you were a developer, generously sharing your hard work with people, for free, how would you feel if someone made a post like this towards you? Would you feel motivated to continue development?
This type of attitude is not welcome on XDA; especially not around here. If you have a helpful suggestion, you are more than welcome to share it. Negative, flamatory posts could earn you an infraction. Please be respectful towards the developers, and your fellow XDA community.
Just a reminder: Devs are not here to cater to you.

Hey Eclipse, you want some help with this? What are you using as the source rom? I couldn't decide which one to port, but sensation's would probably be less broken once ported.. What did you do to get logcat wokring(I was having issues with this on the port I've been working on..) What have you done toward porting it so far, do you have a guide you're following? Help me not repeat the steps you already have
I already started making some of the needed changes to the boot.img, looking at it I am 100% sure that would be what keeps it from booting(at least the main reason)- I'm gonna have to play with it some more, but I think I can help you out bro
Send me a PM if you have anything specific that needs work.

Giving this it's own post- not because I feel special, but because it's so easy for this to get lost in the shuffle as it pertains to 4G connectivity after root. And I seem to be one of the few whose 4G is working.
I rooted my MoPho using [ACS] Photon 4G AIO root and lost 4G connectivity like so many others did. The next day, I restarted my phone and 4G was working flawlessly.
This is a screenshot showing my 4G connection actively working

This screenshot is just to show I am in fact rooted.
I don't have the knowledge some of you have when it comes to this Moto rooting stuff. It was easier to do on the Evo. Please don't ask me anything detailed cause the only thing I did after applying root was go to bed. I rebooted my phone sometime the next afternoon and 4G was working.

It is responses like yours which make people feel extremely uncomfortable posting here. I actually posted this for the developers whom I couldn't post for earlier due to lack of screen capture app.
Thanks for being a jerk all the same!
ITT the OP doesn't realize the difference between rooting the system and unlocking the bootloader.
Troll? Lol funny. You can tell the kids that just joined xda. I mean seriously almost every forum on the site has just about the same rules! Tighten up seriously and post in the write sections! And its obvious who the real trolls are! The people that continuously post general topics and questions in the development section! If you arent developing anything by all means dont clutter up this section! Devs/themers all look in the general section, not just the dev section. So theres no need to post these types of threads!

Anyway [email protected] you're right. My sincere apologies I thought I was unlocking it. In order to install apps root; roms unlock. I thought rooting was providing the unlock.
I realized this from another thread.
Since I'm essentially not unlocked, only rooted, a mod can delete this thread. Again, my apologies.

Don't apologize dude, mistakes happen. People need to lighten up. Anyways, unless this post was moved it's in the right section. We need people working together we don't need forum police.
The rule of thumb is unless you are posting a ROM, MOD or Hack it doesn't go into the Development section. But seriously people, relax this isn't a big deal. Let's not kill the forums before anything really gets started.

Thank you for addressing this. The OP made a simple mistake.
If you've seen this video before, then you'll understand what it stands for, for the others? Watch, listen and don't be surprised when you never receive an answer.
This is a development site, a lot of effort is put into creating user friendly guides and tutorials.
In this Specific device forum, we put more effort into gathering all information and troubleshooting about this device here:
The Ultimate Guide to Everything Amaze-ing!(Amaze 4g BIBLE!) Updated Often
If it's absolutely NOT there, then find a thread similar to it and post in there, DO NOT post a new thread for every question, if you have an old thread post it there, if you have multiple questions, post it all in one post and if you have another question that comes to mind after that post, EDIT your post and add it in, DON'T MAKE THREE POST FOR THREE QUESTIONS, WE ARE NOT GOING TO READ, ANSWER, READ, ANSWER AND KEEP REPEATING THE SAME PROCESS WHICH COULD'VE BEEN DONE IN THE FIRST REPLY!
If you're too lazy to search for the answer to your own problem, then don't expect US to do it for you, we KNOW what's available and what isn't, so telling us you can't find it? Just lets us know YOU ARE LAZY.
If you're a total NOOB? I'd advise you to head over to the amaze bible, read, understand, read it again, understand and read AGAIN until you grasp the detail and understand what you're dealing with, if you don't get it? You must be a tad bit slow.
DO NOT bombard dev threads with questions, read their FAQ post, READ IT READ IT READ IT and again READ. Your question has been answered before and if you're the only one having that problem? It's obviously not the devs fault. Found a bug? If it's unique, worth looking at and it wasn't answered before, POST A LOGCAT, we aren't mind readers or magicians!
DO NOT post questions in the general forum! There is a question and answer forum for a reason, I from this day refuse to answer questions posted in the general forum, regular and advanced members should do the same, this practice has to STOP.

You get an answer or any kind of HELP, press the THANKS button, DON'T post "thanks", you're already welcome, but is it really relevant to post a whoooole post just to say "thanks"? really? There's a button for that.
Press thanks on every rom thread you open and download, you don't have any idea the countless hours devs spend creating the ROMs they do JUST FOR YOU to have better experience using YOUR device, though he/she is getting nada for it. Be grateful, press THANKS!
Donate to a dev if you can, a little donation is a very welcome and very much appreciated form of showing a dev their work is loved and appreciated, their countless hours of their own personal time was totally worth it and that you end users think they deserve just a kind token of appreciation for their work. It goes a long way, even if it's a simple 5 bucks, most of them are college/high school students, like many of our devs here, so hit that thanks button and donate if you can, it's very much appreciated.
Do Not PM devs or common regs or MODS unless they say they're okay with getting PM's, have a problem with a post? Then report it, not everyone wants their inbox being blown up with irrelevant questions and things that can be found in a forum, they usually have support threads, use those to let a dev know something, ONLY PM if it is absolutely important like you're-gonna-die-if-this-person-doesn't-help-you important. Got it? The reaction of some people will be VERY NICE for PM's about none sense and YOU cannot feel insulted if you get a rude response, you simply went looking for it.
I shall continue this post as I see things to be added, that is all, now go have fun reading, since that's where we learn all the basics before practice, you read read read, watch youtube videos of someone doing it. (There's a video of everything on youtube), then read read read some more, be sure and confident before attempting something you have no clue about, if you have NO clue about it, then why on earth are you about to do it? Don't be a noob, be a newb that's willing to be the next Recognized Dev/Contributor/Themer/Mod/Admin sometime in the future.
If you don't like what I have to say and think my point of view is somehwat "rude"?

It's really a shame
I really sorry to hear that.
A few days ago i was searching the tool for s-off, a friend of mine amaze, and i got this news about JuopunutBear, the first time i did s-off, was hard for me i wasn't familiar with the steps (quite a noob... still learnig...far from senior), but i chat with this people and they were really supportive, even knowing anything from me. they were really comited to help.
I really don't understand why if you are aware, some procedure are sensitive, and could be risky, you still do it a afterwards, start complaning, it's better to be humble, to the one that knows. But no every person thinks like me.
thanks hasoon, for you efforts has not been for nothing even know i don´t know you. i really have an a idea for the great jobs u have done for all of us. thanks for your tools. have been quite usefull.:good:
And i really hope team unlimited support windows once again for the ones that really matters... thanks to this people i embrace the fact that i was able to learn a lil bit more and even if you have a lot of knowlege have to be a good servant... those people were great:fingers-crossed:

I just did S-OFF tonight. The threads here are basically useless as you won't ever get assistance from the actual developer. I'm just lucky I had an Ubuntu CD around so I could live-boot from it and do JuopunutBear

I beg to differ, I get the help I need when I ask a question with a point not a hand holding. XDA was setup for developers by developers not us. They let us have great things to flash and play with. They take their own time to do this for them and us. So a thank you is in order or at the least a valid post. I am glad you got s-off but to post a negative comment is uncalled for.

Hi.
I am sorry you don't feel like the developers here do not specifically cater to your whims. If you are asking any developer with that attitude, then I am honestly not surprised. like someone in this thread already mentioned, this is a developer forum, not a support forum, although the developers here DO support their ROMs, kernels, mods, scripts, etc...
The fact of the matter is that you are not owed anything, and that is a pretty sad attitude around here because most developers spend long hours doing what they do with little to no donations.
You can always learn to develop, then you can see it from the other side of the coin, we have great resources here on building a virtual box and getting started compiling.
@ OP, we really don't need a thread like this about this, and with your history I think it's safe to say you knew that when starting this thread. Let's please grow up a bit.
Thread closed for obvious reasons.
Have a nice day.
hey xda i dont have a linux OS installed so im looking for anyone that willing to help me with my port.
im porting a rom from a certain device and i need this task done with the boot images ill provide.
Decompile both boot.img/kernel
Open both init.rc files
In evoboot kernel replace BOOTCLASSPATH by the one from GS3 boot.img.
recompile kernel.

the gs3 boot is the port btw.
Download Link to boot images
if this turns out successfully ill chip in some money ($2 sorry all i have until i get paid lulz) and give you 50% credit since the boot.img is what makes the rom boot.
Not necessarily...It will take a lot more than just a modified boot.img to get the rom to boot. I would know, because I ported Sense 5 to the S3.
The Thanks button is just to avoid "THANKS" posts in threads. Nothing more. Don't defeat the purpose of why it was introduced.

I know that, I did everything necessary, just that editing the boot img is last thing to do for me.

What I mean is, you won't know what else is necessary until you flash.
Personally, I would not recommend following that guide. For things like this, it is too general to work well. It's better to do the init.rc step and then debug the rest of the boot process with logcat.
You will also need your proprietary blobs from TheMuppets github > jellybean branch > jewel.
I will post a modified boot.img later for you.

Once we get done building the Rom you would need to know it may not be stable at all and risk bricking your device like any other pre alpha Rom hahaha. If you're willing ill hit you up.

Lol. How do you think I ported Sense 5 if I don't have an S3? And I'm too poor to have both haha.
My last two phones before the S3 were the EVO Shift and OG EVO 4G

Yes, that can happen, but porting a proprietary UI is really time consuming even when you DO have the device

Why is the development section exploding this week? Great job!
As I mentioned above, I don't have an Amaze 4G, and I need some testers for this. Anyone care to oblige?

As for testers, trust me we have plenty of people. I would love to test but unfortunately I can't since I'm still building a ROM and need to squash syntax errors on AROMA.
Wait for people to pop out and trust me you'll get testers. :good:
As for fixing things, you definitely need/should to look at SportsStar89's github. JoseGalre's github And jeepers007's github. Sports compiled the CM ROMS, and everyone who builds from source relies on his so there's plenty of stuff for you to see. Jeepers' and Jose's are worth checking out as well. You might be able to fix a lot of stuff before people see this ROM is in the dev section (besides me).

Thanks man, and no worries about the post, it's okay.
Yeah, my device repositories are actually forked/cloned from sportsstars89's, and I made a few modifications for 4.3 (although I'm sure I'll have to make some more ).
Hey, if you need any help with ROM building, send me a PM! I'll be glad to help

If they are, you likely have only a few bugs. He fixed up a lot of stuff in CM 10.2 recently (Bluetooth, call echo, other stuff).
Actually I don't build from source I make Sense Roms which are easy as cake. But Aroma makes it harder (but way better than a baby updater-script saying silly things.)
If you have an extra 150$ or less lying around, you can get an used Amaze. It's a dandy phone. It's stuck on 4.0.3 forever though (excluding AOSP). It's past EOL but I would consider it better than a One S because our Amaze has a powerful camera.

Yeah, I don't think he has his cm-10.2 branches posted. Doesn't matter though, it'll be a great learning experience to figure it out myself though
Yeah, I have a friend with one, which is why I started developing for it in the first place. I just thought it would be helpful to have a couple more people testing as well
Not booting. Only black screen. The other 4.3 rom is booting. I'll try to flash that kernel from the nandroid when I get time.

won't even boot.
there is no boot animation, plain black screen after HTC
I waited about 15 min for it to boot, then flashed back to my daily driver ROM
no logs at the moment my laptop stopped working
great work though
