(Req) is it possible to customize google nav voice? - HTC Amaze 4G

I noticed that ICS brings a whole new voice to google nav. Got me thinking... Is there any way to install a different voice package in order to customize the navigation voice? Id love to do something funny like Darth Vader or at least switch it up a bit like you can with a traditional Garmin unit. Thoughts?

Can't wait for Rosie Perez or Fran Drescher version ...
Seriously... Good question. I'm interested to know myself

you can, but it costs money

I second that. If you have few $ to shed, svox is worth it. Been using American Female voice for a while now. The default voice is just ridiculous

Awesome!!!! Thank you!!! =). I've actually been wanting this for a very long time but hadn't really looked into it until I heard the new ICS voice lol

Svox is awesome. You can even alter paid voices. You can manipulate pitch etc. Change your region if you decide to use UK / foreign accents.

I've been wanting an Arnold Schwarzenegger option for voice nav for a while now..

I noticed the difference in voice coming to ICS too. She sounds a bit more manly.

I noticed the warning as well. Think the ICS version fixes that requirement because I have a UK voice set up that works and my region is still set as US. Which was convenient because I don't know how to install the UK region setting (settings only gives me English and Spanish (US)), nor did I feel like researching how to either lol

Fast Customer (beta) never wait on hold again

This app, I believe, can be found on the online market. It is maybe the best Android app since gmote(my wife and I used to fight over who had to go and press next episode while watching Netflix).
fast customer will call a customer support number and have them call you, instead of having to wait on hold. Genius!

How do we know the "company" calling us is the actual company and not just some stranger calling and getting info?

Speaktoit assistant

Whenever siri comes up in conversation around here, why doesn't anyone ever bring up the speaktoit assistant found in sense 3.5 roms? It has so far proven to be not only quicker but, I personally think, more accurate. If you haven't tried it then I recomment u do.

I agree it really is great. I use it more for fun than for real but while driving it works so great.
I've been using Speaktoit for a couple of weeks now, and it's fantastic. It's especially great when you mix it with the SVOX Classic TTS engine or the Loquendo Susan TTS engine.
I have that app so I can yell at her & belittle her & tell her to get to the kitchen & bake me some cookies.

My favorite is if you tell her to do something inappropriate (yes, sometimes I still have teenager thoughts) she says "hey, cool your jets!" or "Let's keep this professional" or my favorite "I'm not that kind of secretary!"

SwiftKey 3 Beta Free Download!

Hi everybody, TouchType Ltd. have decided to release their latest beta for the ever popular SwiftKey today for free
Seeing as the demand for the beta is hammering their servers, I decided to upload the .apk to my dropbox for everybody to enjoy. Just download and install like you would with any other app
Here's the file: http://db.tt/GHjXdQi7
FYI, this is a FREE, OPEN beta and therefore this is a FREE APP. I understand the rules of xda, and I do not condone or promote pirating in any way!
I got it from them and I really like it so far.

Typing this on the new version of swift k x. THIS IS AMAZING. Thanks for sharing with us...

I bought swift key x, for some odd reason i can't get away from the stock android keyboard.
I like it, but think I still prefer Perfect Keyboard. It seems to me the new smart space feature in the Swiftkey is a little too agressive. I sometimes end up getting spaces where I didn't want them.
i guess i'm the only one who thought it's terrible? I tried it to see if its any better than AI Type that I've been using for over a year. I switched back.

Ha ha...I typically have the opposite problem with swiftkey products - try to add 2 spaces after a sentence and end up with a predicted word instead. I always have to turn off "space bar inserts predicted word" because of this, and it kinda hinders the usability of swiftkey.
Made it about 14 hours (8 of which I was sleeping) before going back to swype
SwiftKey works really well for me. Swype is annoying and the samsung keyboard is awful.

^^^^this - tried renaming a file and it decided for me that I was trying for a sentence - I need to see if it can be toned down.
Loving it so far! thanks
Thanks for posting this. Glad to see more themes.
I like it so far but I don't like how it inserts spaces after I choose a word and how there isn't a long press question mark key.

I was confused about the question mark too, but today I realized that if you swipe the period key to the left, it automatically uses the other available punctuation depending on how far you swipe. Pretty cool
It took some getting used to, but u love this feature now.

I didn't like that - I also don't know why they swapped the mic button and the number/symbol button. And there's no way I can find to turn off the aggressive parsing of one word/filename into a sentence.
I went back to the original Swiftkey - new is not always better

Well, it's a beta. Maybe it will get better. I love that the space bar is longer. That used to always trip me up. Plus I don't even need a space bar anymore. Lol.

Looking for an App to record voice calls

Hi all,
I am looking for an android app that allows recording of voice calls directly from the phone and not via speaker phone.
I have tried many apps on the android market and they did not work on my Amaze with ICS ROM or they only work via speaker phone.
I know that MIUI had such a feature built-in, but, i have not seen it in any ROM's.
does anyone know if a good Android App on ICS HTC Amaze..
Note, i am not interested in the legality of this at this point, simply looking for a working app on HTC Amaze with ICS that records phone calls right from the phone directly.
We don't have one yet. I was just messaging a buddy about that. He hasn't seen one either. I too would be interested in this.

Blackberry to Android Emoticons

Huller (Madea Voice) to all,
I wanted to know if i could replace my emoticons with blackberry ones, or is there an app that would allow me to see the emotiocons that are being sent from blackberry devices (or even iphone, mainly blackberry). I know this might seem like an off the question request, but thats me. I did see that there was a topic is the Evo 4G, I am not aware if it would work.
I appreciate all of your replies in advance.
60 views and no response, I am guessing this is impossible?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
I'm guessing you might be able to decompile the messaging app to find the icons to change them. If that's where they are stored.
Maybe a third party app can?
Imagika FTW... with Tapatalk 2
I've done a little searching, I will have to do a little more. I use gosms and it has emoticons for the iPhone, but not BlackBerry.
I appreciate the reply!!
