Factory reset via recovery mode should work without Samsung password:
1. Shut down the phone.
2. Press Volume UP + Home + Power key as long as recovery menu appears.
3. Select wipe data / factory reset (you can go up/down with volume up/down) and select with home or power button.
4. Confirm wipe data / factory reset.
Good luck !

[Q] My phone went crazy...

So, I flashed the newest update, and everything seemed to go fine. I reactivated it, used it a few times, had some issues with the radio. I updated the profile as was recommended, and things were good. I upgraded the radio again, and now all my phone does is loop at start. I am trying to reflash the update, will this work, or do I need to do something else?
*EDIT*
Update, the reflash failed, though I am not surprised. I received the error that the phone failed to re-enumerate, or something along those lines, anyone have any ideas? Should I take it to sprint and have them fix it?
Try a factory reset.. i also had some weird things happen to the Phone .. did a factory reset and it went away.. for now

You will need to go into recovery, power off phone, hold volume down button while pressing power, you should see fastboot, press volume down a few times until you see android recovery, press volume up button, will enter android recovery, will see the little android guy on your screen, now press both volume keys together, now volume up and down will scroll through the menu and power will select, select wipe data/factory reset, also wipe cache partition, then select reboot

You will not lose root or brick your phone, this will restore your phone to original settings, like the first time you switched it on.
The same can be achieved by going into settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset
The other method was because he couldn't even get into his phone!

factory reset?

do you guys know how to perform a factory reset to get it back to "out of the box" state where you select the language, time, wifi connections etc....?
pressing the reset button didn't do that for me.
just wondering...
Go into settings and you'll find an option to do a factory reset. The reset button is just a reboot button in case the tablet hangs and the power button won't reboot it.

yeah I'm dumb, I was just doing that when you posted! Thank you!
should have known that...
There is another way and was posted here before (didnt try it myself though):
1. Turn off the device
2. Press the power and Volume + the same time
3. When the device turns on, release power while still holding Volume +
4. Wait until it boots into recovery mode.

you need to Hold Volume UP key and press Power key, and when you see the Sony logo on screen, release just the power button.. (keep pressing the volume up button)

7. At the next screen, repeatedly press VOLUME DOWN button until "Yes -- delete all user data" is selected.
8. Press the POWER button.
Factory Reset will be performed and the tablet will reboot into Normal Mode.

The post you are referring to is about the Sony Tablet S. Please read the Sony Xperia Tablet Z forum, then post your XTZ problem/questions there and I or someone else will try to provide you with a solution.
