I highly recommended rezrom. Amazingly good rom.

I've been a huge fan of Scott's work since I got my rezound. I'm currently on the DE version but for a long time used the his CleanRom Pro Edition. It was super stable and had a ton of tweaks.
Here's the thread

Scott's Developer ROM is as close to flawless as I've seen.

i would give venasuar rom a shot. its sweet a hell!!!!!!!!!!!

Totally agree with this. Scott's DE ROM is very, very good. It's what I use daily.

Venasaur works on s-on? I thought s-off only?

I'm liking CleanROM DE a lot. Feels like AOSP with the Sense features (phone, contacts and camera) that you want and nothing more.

You have to manually flash the kernel through fastboot after installing the rom.
By the way, s-off your phone, makes trying out new roms and restoring your old one much easier.

yeah you just have to extract the boot.img from the download venasaur gives you, flashing the rom in amon ra, and then going to bootloader to flash the kernel/ph image
I went to venasaur on GB s-on and now ics s-off, I like it both ways, i've still yet to try Scott's rom

Coming from motto 1,, this is very confusing?I find like 4 different ways to achieve root etc. my head is spinning..I bought the whole fam-dam family dunces, and myself this..even just a simple gooogle(nsa) search brings about 1000 hits,,we all could have learned chinese by now,,, but I'll take a simple link, and a simple rom suggestion...thankyou

Well the first thing you may want to consider is getting S-OFF. It's a pain in the ass, but it will make life easier afterwards.
If you haven't tried any of the Sense 4.0 ROMS I would highly recommend giving this one a spin. This what I am using & I absolutely love it. However there are a ton of other awesome ROMs on here as well, just depends on what you are in the mood for.

There's really only one way to get root... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1418659
You can stop at the flashing the kernel part, don't need that.

So basically if I s-off my device, I can just flash a rom without having to go thru the steps that are required for s-on?

If the dev ported for s-off devices, which most of the good ones are now. BAMF 2.1, Rezrom 3.4 and Scott's DE are the ones I have been running as daily's. Actually, after doing a Desense BAMF 2.1 is a touch better on the eyes over Scott's DE but they both perform the same.

I think you misunderstood my question I am just trying to determine if I should s-off my device to make flashing roms easier? Is that the point of s-off?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA

If you don't flash roms often or do alot of theming. Maybe you want to try a leak and your Rez ends up not liking it. You can rollback hboot/radios and nandroid restores are even more painless. There are more advantages but those are the major ones that made me decide to adopt s-off.

Gonna root my Uncle Thunderbolt

Hey XDA Im going to root my uncle thunderbolt that he just bought. I know all about rooting and unlocking the bootloader. I am a dev for the Inspire. But since this isnt my phone I want to be EXTREMELY careful and not ruin it for him. My question is the best way to unlock and root this phone and what would be a good Sense ROM for him. Thank you.

Revolutionary is the best and most reliable method. Roots and installs clockwork recovery. As for ROMs, I'm partial to Eternity...

Eternity is good, but some phones (like mine) simply refuse to run it smoothly. I love how it looks, but I can't keep it running without multiple lockups where I have to pull the battery. I personally think Thunderstick 2.5.3 is awesome and is the best I have used on my phone, but everybody's is different!

True. Some phones just don't like certain ROMs. See what he likes and see what works.

Since its not your phone and your uncle is probably not too familiar with android I would suggest skyraider 1.3 (or whatever the newest version is when you root it). It is a sense 2.1 rom with a few 3.0 elements and by far the most stable rom I've used. Not on xda though so do a google search.
Miui all the way bro

Best E3D ICS ROM?

Alright, I need some advice from other people. What is the best AOSP ICS Rom for the EVO 3D CDMA? I see a lot of them, but I can't tell the difference really. Suggestions?

I've never used it, but I've heard that clean Rom developer's edition is pretty good. While technically not aosp, it is a sense Rom with a lot of the sense stuff removed. The true aosp Roms have issues with stuff not working, so this Rom seems to be a good compromise.

I've flashed meanrom ics, ics-deck, and clean rom, went back to zred 3.0gt everytime.

There is no Best rom. Each rom will work differently on each device. Try them out and find your personal best.

Electron, BigFau, and Flapjaxxx all have somewhat stock ROMs listed in the dev section. Ekectron's is a little closer to stock than the other 2. All 3 are top notch and pretty much bug free. I don't recall any wiping scripts in any of these ROMs. All 3 should update over your existing but can't guarantee there won't be some kind of issue.
And there is this loser has them all listed on his loser of a thread...go flame that weirdo...and make sure you tell him.....is a burden to the entire xda community...just saying...you know...
I really don't know the guy...but he like BBW's and has that nasty looking evil joker...really wtf...is wrong with him....i know huh?!?!?

Best alternative to CleanROM?

Since it looks like we'll never get an updated version of CleanROM (and who can blame Scott, he's moved on to another phone) what is the best alternative. I love CleanROM because it's a simple, no BS rom. It's not over-themed, no bloat, runs great. I'd like to run something that's using the latest leak as it's base. What do you guys think? Thanks!

IMHO CleanROM is a pretty strong competitor in the basic ICS Rom dept. If you want to enrich your Rez experience, move on to a sense 4 ROM
There are several out there. My favorite happens to be Newt's One xXx . YOu can find it on the Developer forum...along with the others!
Conrom or viper rez. You could make a cleanrom type rom yourself pretty easily with the right know-how
Been using neomax adrenaline for the past week or so and really like it. Had been on cleanrom for several months but since it wasn't being updated any more I decided to s-off and move on. Really like adrenaline, and to me it seems like the most like cleanrom.

Nils has a great 3.6 Rom....has some theming but nothing too crazy, based on latest leak and rock solid. Never had a single issue with it.

Ineffabilis Deus is a great Sense 3.6 based rom on the latest leak also.
thanks guys, I'll have to check them out.
Nils' rom, con rom, are 2 great ones. Personally I like newts one XxX and Joelz's viper rom. I'd try each one for about 3 days each to let the battery stats configure, and to let the system set in. A lot of times people write a device off for having terrible battery life, even though they tested it for like a day. *cough* *cough* the verge. Love the site, but they need to test for like 4 days. Anyway back on track, I can say the con rom v4 and v5 are extremely stable.
Edit: didn't mean to bump this. Op seems to have the answers he wanted. My bad :b.

I moved from CleanROM to SlimROM once it stopped being updated...Now that SlimROM has officially stopped I'll probably move over to NeoMAX eventually if AOSP/AOKP takes too long to come out.

Just download the latest leak, and read the thread buried in the development section about which apk's are safe to delete. Making your own "CleanROM" is literally a piece of cake. =)

NeoMax: Adrenaline, it's a de-sensed, stripped down, fast as all hell ROM. It may actually be the best ROM that I've used in the 9 months I've had the Rezound, no joke. If you want a non-barebones ROM the regular NeoMax should be just as fast but I can't attest to that personally.

[Q] Best Sense Rom?

What is the best Sense Rom? Also, what Android version are all the sense roms based on? I've been running Neo's Tron Rom, which i absolutely love, but I wanted to experiment with some sense roms just for fun.
+ post count.
Some are sense 3.6 and some are sense 4
Try them all and you will find one you like
i.m.o=viperrez. i tried others and i seem to keep coming back to this one.its based off of 4.0.4 and its sense 4
REZOUND-S-OFF-VIPERREZ - SNUZZO 2.3 KERNEL...
Having tried both viperrez and eclipticrez, I stick with ecliptic. I have had 0 issues with it and I do mean 0. Not only that but it still receives updates. It's android 4.0.3 with sense 4.0. Flash it....u won't be disappointed.

Viperrez and ecliptic rez have been my two favorites. Ecliptic is my current Rom.. Smooth and stable haven't had a problem yet. Decent battery life too. Viperrez was nice but with my experience, the battery drained too fast and had some minor problems. Loved the tweaks though. It's fun playing around with different ROMs but if you want a steady reliable and a well rounded ROM....Ecliptic is the way to go

Newt's Sense 4.1 ROM had lots of issues. Would not recommend considering it dropped data constantly, had issues with HtcDm force closing constantly, and only had 3G support for some reason.
Ineffabilis is essentially de-bloated stock with some "tweaks" but worked perfectly for me (HSPA data and calls/texts) when I needed a global rom overseas.
Try em out and see. I'm partial to AOSP roms.
