I was playing around with ics Rom on my phone, when I went into data usage I noticed that a process called "touch input" was using data. I never agreed to send data, so why is this there?
Running nocturnal xi36 ics
I can upload screens if needed

Mine too, I'm using a sense 4 mod keyboard which shows as "internal settings". I don't see why it would need to send data....

I don't know why it would need to send data either???
Is this a key logger replacement for CARRIER IQ?
There is a setting to restrict "Data on mobile networks" But it still sends data on WiFi. It's only a small amount, maybe its backing up keyboard settings to google?
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using Tapatalk 2
I don't think it backing up setting cause my data usage is half of yours
smh ooooh lord HTC has some control issues lol... how do you key log ppl.!!!???

Really? Hmm is there an app that can deny system processes web access....????
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using Tapatalk 2
I know Rom toolbox pro has some features in it that allow you to freeze push ads. Maybe this will work to stop this. You go into the app manager portion of Rom toolbox and long press and choose advanced freeze. It will bring up a list of services and click away lol
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk 2
Stopping it is good, but we still need to know why its sending data.
It bothers me that it just does it and we have no clue what it sends or to whom its sending it to, and no opt-out.

Even stopping data through Rom toolbox it still sends data.

I have a rooted 3vo running on the synergy rom 2.3.3. For some reason, I'm getting a weird notification. Just shows up as I have a msg when I receive a text msg. I was using handcent but i deleted that and I still get the notification. I know it's coming from the default msg app, but not sure how disable it. Anyone have an idea of what it could be? It's killing me to receive two notifications(when using handcent). I already disabled notifications altogether from the default msg app.

I know you said that you disabled notifications altogether from the default msg app but it doesn't sound like it... You can try to disable notifications by going into the (HTC) Messages app and hitting the menu and going into settings then to Notifications.

You could try to factory reset, and see if that straightens it out.. Or try ##768# and reset like that.

We've lauded HTC and Sprint before for the way updates are handled on the EVO 3D, and it's time to do so again. There's a little update coming over the air now. One addition is a widget, the other is ... something. (Update: Ooo! New radio.) But that the EVO 3D can continue to get minor updates without causing major trouble is a pretty big deal. Nicely done.

i had to manually go under settings, system updates and tap htc software update to trigger the update.
seems to mainly just add a corp 4g widget .. and ppl claiming faster 4g speeds.
for some reason in midtown manhattan i dont get 4g signal where i'm at .. so personally haven't bene able to test.
They say it has a new radio too

by new radio, i'm assuming you're referring to the real radio.img which was in the last large OTA. i don't think this OTA has a radio.img. the downloads were very small, as shown in the screenshots above. one for roughly 1-2 MBs and one for 100-200 KBs.
a radio.img would be rough 20+MBs in size and require a reboot to recovery/bootloader for it to properly installed.
this update did not require a reboot and installed very quickly. the update will probably have only put the two downloaded files into /data/app.
Yea I was reading more about that. I didn't update anything but if there isn't s radio then I don't need it. My service sucks here, my og EVO is a lot better when it cones to that.

What happens when you click continue? Is this an exchange setup or pop, IMAP?
If i click continue it just pops up again. It's a pop 3 setup. Happens right after I put in my incoming settings

I can't remember on GB understand email / servers / advanced can you uncheck check certificates?
No dice there, Menu does nothing while setting up so i did automatic settings and checked all options. Couldn't find any option to turn off certificates. Can't use automatic though, att has specific inbound and outbound settings as well as SSL settings. :-( I might just freeze the app soon and use another email client but I hate to because the HTC one is all tablet formated and nice

Oh hell its on the original firmware just checked for a software update and one is available that's not honeycomb, might fix it but problem is I'm rooted and it's might brick the tab if I run it.
Sent from my HTC_Flyer_P512_NA using XDA
Argh now that I checked for an update it won't stop notifying me that one is available. I read you might be able to ota but it's not recommended. Should I do it or just wipe and remove revolutionary?
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using XDA
If its a big update, its Honeycomb, don't update it if you want to be on GB
I just want to update gingerbread to the latest version. I did the ota when I got it they let you know when it's honeycomb. I believe there are 2 gingebread updates. I'm on revolutionary s-off just don't wanna brick it

Your phone is syncing data. You can go to Menu>Settings>Accounts & Sync and see what's syncing.

The arrows indicate an app or account that is synching. Go to settings > accounts and sync to see what's going on.

What ROM are you running? What mods have you done to it? When did you first notice the symbol? Have you changed anything with the ROM that suddenly caused the symbol to show up?
More info please

Its probably browser in account & aync uncheck browser and check it back
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
You need to go into your accounts and sync settings and check what's syncing.
If it keeps doing it you may need to sign out of the account that's acting up and reboot your phone then sign back in.

It's most likely facebook - sync live feed.
I usually just turn it off. I don't need facebook syncing unless I'm loading the app to view feeds.

If you guys would have looked closely, it asks if you want to share data with TMobile to better assist with diagnostics. After reading these posts, I chose to NOT accept, or decline. After decline, the TMobile app still opens up normally and says NO data is shared with TMobile at the top and when I run device health, it says basically healthy etc with NO messages about rooted device :good:
Each time the app is opened, I make sure I choose decline and then I know TMobile has no clue......
It also states results will not be shared with tmobile. Guess I'll have to wait to find out.
Sent from my SM-G900T using xda app-developers app
thats why i always decline when they ask to share data or other diagnostics info, and one of the main reasons i root my devices, to get rid of this apps.. i dont care about warranty, i just want to be free to do what i want with my device without worrying about them having me on check.
