I've been having this issue for a while now. 2D works just fine on the camera, but 3D makes the camera app freeze. When I take a picture, it goes to the review and then freezes, the picture isn't saved at all. I have to open task manager and close the app because it makes my phone stay in 3d mode.
I am using LeeDroid v5.4 GSM, with the recent release of Aroma it allowed me to change back to stock camera app but it still doesn't work. I even tried both versions of the Amaze Camera app.
Any help? thanks.
I know the problem is a little different by I found this thread which might help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625376
EDIT: At the link above, see post #4. There is a link to a patch for the camera which may/may not fix your issue.

I flashed this rom, looking good so far. However, the panoramic camera doesn't appear to be working properly for me. I take two pictures, but it doesn't look like it successfully gets stitched together. Admittedly, I didn't even mess around with stock so I have no idea if I'm just doing it wrong or there's a bug in the rom. Can anyone running viper verify this?
Works fine for me.
Edit. if you dont like the htc panorama you can try sony panorama app, it worked great for me.

cool thanks.
I am not getting any 3D action at all with this rom. Any of you haves this problem?
Thanks
I am using Newts OneXXX ROM. Love it, but the camera does not work completely. The known issues I've read about are that during video the image capture button doesnt work, and face detect must be turned off. I'm having a problem with these of course, but more importantly the Panorama Mode closes the camera app, and the HDR (sun mode) also closes the camera. These both work on the Sense 3.6 camera, and I very much would like to use them. I've installed the ROM twice (first one was unstable due to I think incomplete wipes), so I don't think it is my install. Does anyone know if there is a fix for these issues? Am I the only one with these problems?
Just a note, the Autofocus does work great.
I use Nil's Business Sense 4.0 v2.6 and my camera is fully functional.
just use the custom hq camera app you can find here
SOLVED all working

The fix was to use Titanium backup, and under backup section find the camera app and "wipe data". This fixed the panorama mode, and the hdr mode. Interesting that this was on a fully wiped phone with the ROM installed. This was the second install for the ROM. There must be a problem with the install routine. I used the blue themed One XxX v3.2.1

Thanks for that I was having camera issues on a different rom and may try that next time it starts up again.
I'm on SuperLTE SVN 127. Camera works well but when I switch to video I can't record and camera is unresponsive until I reboot. I can do things like hit the auto flash icon and switch between modes but can't get to the menu or switch back to picture mode or actual shoot any video.
Previous to this I was on CM10. Camera with video worked ok. Wiped everything I could from TWP, flashed superwipe, reinstalled superLTE, installed other sense roms still the same issues. I also cleared camera and media data in settings.
Anyone have any idea what else I can try?

also another symptom is that I can't play any videos from gallery. Nothing I download or things that were recorded on the phone when video worked. But it will play in bsplayer.
Are there any logs I can check for errors?
Im sorry that it was so hard to read the op and see that rom uses the sense 4.5 camera which will always freeze when switching to video unless the phone is already in landscape mode. im sorry if if this sounded mean but im tired of people not even reading about the rom that they install before saying they have problems. DO SOME RESEARCH before starting a new thread, and always read the original post about the rom before you install.

Be as mean as you'd like as long as you post something useful. This is the Q&A section. I'm not ****ting up someone else's post asking stupid questions. I always try to figure it out on my own first.
You make it sound like the OP of the superLTE rom makes this clear. Yes it does mention the 4.5 camera but it would be helpful if they had a known issue section at the bottom. Notice I didn't say should, just that it would be helpful. Anyway, I've tried other roms, including rooted stock and get the same issues with the camera. Switching to video in the sense 4.5 camera in landscape just crashes instead of hanging and then I can't reopen the camera.

If i was you i would not use the sense 4.5 camera until it is 100% bug free.
Hi, I'm the OP of Super LTE, I'm not sure about those issues, BUT I'm on the latest revision, 149 I think, we updated the camera apk yesterday or two days ago, and I literally just TRIED to crash the camera and couldn't. I took pics, switched to video, took video, viewed video from the gallery, took burst pics, took more video then used capture tool while watching from gallery, rotating between land and port all the while, etc. Please try the latest and see, also, please post issues in thread (or response to my post here), we rarely venture out of the dev section
The new Camera and Gallery app for the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition has been leaked. I tried installing it on the EVO 3D and it appears to work fine. You can download it from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341080
Don't expect 3D to work though.
Tried all the versions of the new camera app on Cm 10.1 and everything works (even photosphere) except for the photo editor in the gallery (Force close). Also, when I record a video and touch the screen the image freezes (the video timer keeps working though).
Does anybody else have these problems?

any mods to make 3D working on evry rom?
I tried this on Dirty Unicorn 3.0 and it would not install the apk. Yes, unknown sources was checked.
Any other ideas?
Thanks

Hello everyone. I just got this phone the other day after returning the galaxy s5. I am loving it but I have one issue and maybe I'm just doing something wrong.
Everytime I take a picture in the camera app after tapping the check button, the camera closes and I return to the home screen. Does anyone else have this problem or is there something obvious I'm doing wrong?
Not normal. If the phone is stock (unrooted, etc.) I would try a factory reset (backup any personal data first) and see if the problem persists.
Only time I see a check in camera app is when sending picture via mms and it asks where I want to send [email protected],camera etc... if this is case of attaching picture directly from camera to an mms then this is a normal function, if taking a picture and it just closes then this is not normal reaction
Well it seems that the problem has resolved itself. I was just about to post a screen shot of the check mark so you guys could see it and then it just starting working as normal. Thanks for the responses and I'll post here if it comes up again.
Ok the problem returned... I showed the issue to a buddy who has the same phone and it also turned out that I was missing several options on the camera. I did a factory reset and the problem persisted.
I think I found the issue... I was using Google Now Launcher. Apparently that launcher doesn't play well with the camera. I uninstalled the launcher and voila, all the features (video, zoe, dual camera, etc) are back and the camera no longer closes after taking a pic.
Anyone else want to test this theory and see if happens?
confirmed issue and workaround
Hi there,
I can confirm that the Now launcher uses the native Google camera instead of the Zoe camera. I have also found that from the lock screen with the now launcher installed, unlocking by pulling the camera icon opens the full HTC zoe-enabled camera again. I find this super annoying as I'd like to have Google launcher and have the camera work properly. Anyone know a fix for this other than my workaround?
Ditto for T-Mobile HTC One (M7)
There's a lot I really like about the Google Launcher, but this just drives me nuts. I didn't really understand the workaround suggested here ( though I have no doubt it works). But the suggestion sounded on target. So, I went into my app list and shared it from there. It didn't do the funky stuff any more. I wonder if there's a setting to change that behavior: like someone thought, Hey, take a picture and go back to our regular programming? It's a shame because I really feel that the Google camera takes better picture.
In any case, just to let folks know that this is a real problem. The OP was on target.
To anyone else having this problem that does not use Google Now Launcher, another app that causes this is Omni Swipe. The default camera button in the tools section isn't the right camera (not sure what it's trying to access but still). If you add the correct camera app to the app section, it'll be fine.
Yes, this solved my problem as well. I went back to the default launcher and now the camera is working fine
