Yes, it's much better.
The S4 is a beast, the camera is a beast, the build quality is superb, and the battery life is supposed to be great.

I think you should go look around their forum cus they are currently having a huge problem with the os build for the last two updates they have had and it sounds like a huge drawback. I agree the hardware is great but the os is being left behind because of their focus on the evo4g lte is my guess

Could be a simple fact of he has an at&t contract and got a free Rezound/cheap that was better than whatever he had on AT&T. Just sayin'.
At&t's lte is actually really quick, just has like zero locations it's rolled out.

As we have seen in the past..... Better hardware does not make a phone better ....take the gnex for example....plagued with all kinds of issues.
The rezound has s-off, ics, custom sense 4 roms, great dev support ....and yeah we have a beast of a camera too thanks to the sense 4 roms.....so the battery life is not good....big whoop-di-do....its a 4g device, no battery is good, thats why we all buy extended batteries or more batteries.
As far a build quality.....to each there own....You will still need a case and screen protector no matter how great the quality is. Phone quality is only as good as the person handling the device.....so that point is mute.
So if he wants to use a rezound on the att network.....go for it....its his choice. Not all of us can shell out hundreds of dollars everytime we want/need a phone.

From what I've researched, the Vivid's cpu/gpu isn't near as fast as the GSII's Exynos and Mali 400MP. Our GSII is still far ahead of the game and it's hard for me to justify giving all of that up. I was liking the qHD display and other nice little features like LED notification, LTE, etc of the Vivid but I think my main problem is that I get bored way too fast...

1) the new device is TRULY SUPERIOR to the SGS2 in EVERY ASPECT.

Quad-core or 2.5ghz+ (stock, not overclocked) dual core

My minimum requirements. And what's scary in a very cool tech way, good chance we'll see something like that in less than a year, two years absolute tops.

My only question is if they'll have a CDMA version on Verizon. I switched to Verizon from ATT because of poor signal and lack of 3G in my area. T-Mobile is even worse. Verizon is by far the best carrier in my area. If they are only releasing a GSM version, I guess I'll be skipping this one.

No difference in specs? way better screen, twice the RAM, better camera, newer gen processor. Specs are a lot better. The kicker will be whether anyone will dev for it. Since it will be stock android, it should run great out of the box, without LG being able to jack it up.
Agreed with everything except wondering if devs will dev for it. Its a nexus so that's a guarantee.

Non-expandable storage is absolutely fatal. If it had 32gb fixed, I could deal with it, but 8gb and 16gb? Sod off. Nice specs, though. If it has a fixed battery that's also a major negative. Need to see more companies taking the maxx approach: make a thin phone, then use the space savings for a huge battery.
What are your thoughts now that we have an official announcement? For me, I wasn't planning on getting this Nexus anyway, and seeing no LTE makes me glad that I'm not in a position to get it this year.
I was heavily upset with hearing that it's currently only a GSM/HSPA+ device..... I am totally down for getting one, if they make a CDMA/LTE version but it's so not worth switching to Tmobile or AT&T... I still have unltd data on vzw
If it had options like 32 or 64 gb I could deal with the non removable battery and lack of lte if i was on tmobile or something.

And other things... Really unfortunate how bad the nexus and Verizon situation is like the least Verizon could do is play nice for the nexus line. They wouldn't lose customers to other carriers as bad if they had the nexus line. LG probably has better radios than Samsung too. I know they make better displays.

They really aren't that bad. In fact the galaxy nexus is fully supported in aosp. Sprints variant has never been. The other good thing is that it gives Verizon a stock android device with a ton of development. I had jellybean on my Verizon galaxy nexus the day of Google IO. I'd personally would prefer Verizon did get a nexus 4. Stock android plus an unlocked boot loader is everyone's dream. Combine that with 100% working aosp ROMs like cm and aokp that are as stable as the stock ROM and you have a huge winner. That's the real plus about nexus devices. Also the fact that the differences between the gsm gnex and the lte gnex software wise are so small its so trivial to port ROMs between the two.

I cannot survive on a tiered data plan even if I tried... Graveyard = pandora 10 hours a day 4 days a week and Little Empire lol and Netflix on breaks etc. I mean I'm not using 100 GB+ a month I average around 25-30 ish GB a month or so. Plus I get the discount from my company so I only end up paying like $18 a month for unlimited data trololol.
Well my Wi-Fi has decided that it doesn't feel like reaching my bedroom anymore, so I tether my phone to play Xbox. That burns through data like you wouldn't believe. Oddly enough, 4g in my area is worse for tethering than 3g. 4g always drops out randomly.

My Nexus 4 is arriving in the next couple days. I will keep the Amaze around as back up. This is probably the last great HTC device that has replaceable batteries, expandable storage, HSPA+, great camera and a good screen. Nothin HTC has released since has all of the above traits.

HTC one x+ IS better than the nexus 4 IMO as well...
Those that hate Samsung quality... We are talking about the S3 and note 2... The Galaxy s skyrocket, s2 and all their variants are a whole different story. The quality of the s3 is unbelievable... Especially compared to their old devices. Trust me.. I used to think the same way. I got the one s as my amaze upgrade initially... Dumped it for the s3 and never looked back. Its soooooooo much nicer. And forgive me for thinking it being lightweight as a feature rather than a sign of poor build quality. Everyone puts cases on their phones anyway nowadays.

If you live in a metropolitan area, its reasonable to use Dropbox for pics/vids/files and Google music for music. Then you can use the 16gb for a couple/few backups. Its just an inconvenience.
I'm more shocked that he can get by with a slimmed down amaze and justify it as a worthy upgrade. That was my beef (and the SD card bit ) It was a downgrade in the camera and storage, an upgrade in the aesthetics and battery, and virtually identical in performance

I guess I'm not surprised. We all knew it was a crap shoot anyway. VZW has never gotten a one device, don't know why they would start now.
At least I can be happy I currently have the best vzw phone on the market ... For now lol.

Hmm... So Verizon isn't getting the HTC One, but perhaps a HTC Droid DNA+!!!???

Good... maybe people can shut the flock up about it. I'm sick of hearing about the One. We have a primo device.

Either way, my next phone is the One, whether it comes to Verizon or not. In June, which is around when we would know if Verizon is going to carry it I'm assuming, my contracts end and a coworker already said I can join his T-Mobile account.

LOL, it's just something I will consider in the summer if things don't go better with Verizon. I live in San Diego and my buddies T-Mobile is great.

True, hey check your PM
T mobile is pretty bad up here in ct as well everything is except verizon. Even if it does come I'm staying with my dna for 2+ years.

You say that now..... =P
I live in the hills of CT and get no service with any carrier besides Verizon which is the reason i am on Verizon now so the ONE needs to come to Verizon

I live in a very small town called Los Angeles and every carrier besides VZW blows here (I've tried every carrier). I travel a lot for my job and with the exception of some rural areas (and San Diego) in the US I always find verizon's coverage to be remarkable.
I'm stuck with big red for now as I travel a lot and being in sales, I live on my phone. Switched from AT&T which wasn't anywhere near as reliable. Keep hoping that verizon gets there act together and releases premier android phones like other carriers. Hoping that the One is coming...

I don't understand the appeal of this phone if you already have a DNA. It would be a very minimal upgrade and a slight downgrade in at leastone aaspect (screen). The only thing I am seeing that's better is a slight bump on the CPU clock speed and a better camera. Don't get me wrong. It looks like a super slick phone, just nothing worth purchasing coming from a DNA IMO

Screen downgrade is only opinion really. I think it's a upgrade. Still 1080 and easier to handle... Don't forget ir to control tv. Fm radio. 40% faster cpu. Camera. Better call quality and recordings... Every aspect of the phone was upgraded

Speakers also
Although every aspect was upgraded it's not enough to make me switch. I'm content with my dna on 100% stock. I don't think verizon is just going to dump this phone and stop updating it, but if that's the case then I will just use xda to modify my phone.

It's not just a bump in clock speed, also a bump in the processor itself. The HTC one will perform better than an overclocked DNA.
