Hello folks.
I would like to be able to use a wifi tether on my mini pro (SK17).
I am rooted on 4.0.2.A.0.58 and did install the Barnacle WiFi Tether.
If I start the program and want it to tether the log only shows "starting..." on the second and further attempts.
The first attempt (when wifi is enabled) I see on the screen (not in the log) "Disabling wifi manager" and the log shows "Waiting until WiFi is disabled".
If I check wifi, it's already disabled.
Anybody an idea what the problem might be?
Heya.
I don't think you need 3rd party applications nor root to do wifi tethering on the sk17, I don't at least. Not sure all sk17 come with this by default as some carriers may dislike it or not grant access to this menu if your phone is branded but try going to Settings -> Wireless & network settings -> Tethering & portable hotspot. You should find a menu with all you need to share your phone's internet. Setup SSID and password, etc.
Hope this helps.
OH. Thank you for the hint. Sure enough found it...
Cool Does it work or are you having trouble tethering that way too?

just received my A70, installed GApps and a few programs through the file viewer after transferring via USB.
Then, I wanted to download a few apps from the market...
I got Barnacle setup on my X10, and my laptops can both see the new WiFi network created by it, but the Archos can't
Has anyone tethered using this method before?
If so, I think I am using the wrong channel to connect, but can anyone advise which WiFi channel the A70 would require??
I can pick up other WiFi networks, but can't actually connect to them due to restrictions on the routers (I'm at work, they require MAC addresses and for some reason wont let me add this to the network )
Try any channel below 11. It's a known kernel issue.
if it creates an AD-HOC connection, then that's the issue.
Aha, yes it does. Damn
I'll have to try the proper tethering method then using the cell phone tether option (which I briefly tried but failed to connect through bluetooth)
Try "Wireless Tether for root users" with it's bluetooth option. Works for me Have the tether activated on the phone while pairing it with the Archos though.
I bought a Motorola Atrix, Andro 2.2, the U.S. imported, blocked
by AT & T, free plan. I managed to unlock it through IMEI and today
I can use any chip in it. I've made it through the root
Superoneclick and he's installing any application.
Well, before all this explanation, you may be wondering, what
the same problem? The problem is that I'm trying to route my WiFi
access the internet on my laptop (the 3G phone, which happens
TIM uses chip) and I can not connect the router.
When I enter the "Settings - Wireless Network and others - point network
WiFi (router) "it gives the following error" Account is set to point
WiFi network (router) "and asks for me to go to" att.com / mywireless. "
So I installed "Bernacle Wifi Tether" and set up as seen in a
tutorial (can not remember where now) and when I click start, there is the
following error "unexpected error occurred! Inspect the log and try
troubleshooting guide. "
Finally, I installed the "Wireless Tether," and when I did the settings
I click the wireless symbol to connect it gives error and does not open.
Given all that, I'm using you guys! I think there are some
AT & T setting that is preventing my phone to access the wifi
as a router (only the router because I can access the net in
my phone through wifi here at home normally, just can not
route it to the net my notebook). If you guys can help me,
I would be very happy indeed!
Have you tried the wifi fix for sim unlocked Atrix.?

The 2.3.3 update provides the following that are fully functional:
USB Tethering - allows you to attach a single device via USB to allow it to access the Internet through your X10's WiFi or 3G data connection
Portable WiFi Hotspot - allows other WiFi-enabled devices to attach to your X10 via WiFi to allow them to access the Internet through your X10's 3G data connection
Go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Tethering & Portable Hotspot to get to and set up those features.
For USB tethering, you'll need either a WiFi or 3G data connection available. For the portable WiFi hotspot, you need a 3G data connection available and the WiFi hardware must be on as well (since your X10 will become a WiFi router).
They work quite well, and they easily replace what we used to need 3rd-party apps for in the past.

Configure it first, set your password or change to open.

Hi all,
I have a problem while connecting to WiFi hotspot feature. I have Feravolt v3 JB rom, Ferakernel.
I am able to activate the Wifi hotspot feature in the phone and its broadcasting fine until I try to connect from my laptop's wireless adapter. The SSID is detected in the wireless networks and when i try to connect, it acquires the ip address and as soon as I get the message 'wireless connected', the phone LED color changes and the phone reboots. I tried both pdanet+ and also the hotspot feature in the rom. both times the phone restarts. I did factory reset and tested hotspot feature before installing any other apps. still the same result. I also tried keeping the phone charged while connecting to hotspot. No luck. I am able to do usb tethering, reverse tethering without any problem. I did not overclock. Just using default settings that came with the rom. disabled sleep policy, kept the screen always on......
My only guess is that might be battery problem and if so any idea how to overcome this problem without buying a new battery.
Anyone had similar problem before or its a first?
Appreciate if someone can guide me if I need to enable or disable any feature.

This may seem like a dumb question but... is there a way or an app to essentially turn on WiFi hotspot feature so that I can make an ad-hoc LAN but NOT let all the devices connected access the internet?
Example: I enable WiFi hotspot on my phone. I still have a cellular data connection so I can browse the web, stream music, etc. but any other device that connect to my phone's hotspot does NOT get my data connection, they are just on the LAN the built in android hotspot creates.
I don't want to let other users "run up" my data usage but I want the other users when they connect to my hotspot to be all on one network.
I have a bootloader unlocked Motorola Moto X (original, 2013) and rooted and I use Tasker. Maybe after I enable the hotspot feature I could modify some IP tables via a Tasker app to "enable/disable" internet blocking.
Or maybe there's an app out there for this? I suppose another alternative would be disable mobile data and then enable hotspot (if that's even allowed) but the pitfall there is then my phone doesn't have internet either.
Thanks,
Mike
