@dillonn08:
And you didn't find that answer in the first 6 Posts in this forum?
Then you clearly don't need root.
And why do you think you need root on Android?
Every Android device can do alot of things without root, that you need a jailbroke idings for.
Please excuse my "new-ness" to the forum but I need help. Bought the G Tablet last week and need help installing a new rom on it. I have heard about the VEGAn-TAB BETA 5.1. Is this good? What would you recommend and how to I install it?
Thanks!
Courtney
Google "g tablet for dummies" . the developer of the site, username GoodIntentions did an amazing job of describing the process. It will step you through the process very clearly.
I've only had my gtab for a couple of weeks and have had no problems loading ROMs, having never rooted anything before.
hi all, i am new to this part of XDA. i am enquiring about the archos 70 250gb tablet i have just bought.
i am used to flashing android ROMS on various android phones and of course the 1st thing i wanted to do after buying my new toy was to root is asap!!
can anyone tell me what is the best root method for the 2.4.1.9 firmware, can i use urukdroid 1.6?
also, is there a way to change the icons on the device? eg i use shorter cut on my android phones to change the icons but cant use shorter cut on the archos as it doesnt work, any ideas?
thanks in advance
Welcome! My first suggestion for root would be check the development page. It is all laid out there. If you don't find it with in a few min use the search. I personally suggest installing the SDE from the archos site. Good luck and happy hacking!
Hey guys, I rooted my moms Nook Tablet and I am having trouble installing an app for her. Its called draw something, I was able to find the apk online and install it because I couldn't find it in the market. It installed fine but when I went to update it, it said that it was not compatible with the device. I am not sure why this is happening as I know there is both a tablet and cell phone version of the app. Any ideas as to why I can't update it?

I would guess for the same reason it won't install from the market. Like many apps, it will install as a sideload, but if you try to update it, it will show as not compatible. Your best bet would be to find the latest version and install it the same way.
If you wish, Nook Tablet running CM7.1.a showed as compatible for me.

Is it possible to spoof another device on the nook tablet? I have read about modifying the build.prop file to trick the market, but I am not sure if this will work on the nook tablet, can anyone confirm that it works? Also what would be a good device to spoof as I was thinking about doing the A500.
Yes, you can spoof other devices. Here you go.
This is possible and it does work. Here is the link:
