Is it possible to view the photos as slide show, I don't seem to find such function in the tablet Gallery or File Manager and Mobo Player.

The tablet's stock Gallery has a slideshow function. Open Gallery, select a set of photos, then locate in the right-hand section of the upper menu and touch the icon that looks like a square with a right-pointing triangle; the slideshow will begin. You can adjust the slideshow's settings by touching the right-most icon in the upper menu. Good luck.

Thanks, got that but I want a slide show of pictures stored in a sd card and I don't want to transfer the file to the tablet so I am now viewing therm with file manager or Astro and they don't seem to have slide show capability. Any apps can do it?

I don't understand why Gallery is not detecting and listing the media files stored on your external SD card. I have photos and videos stored on an external SD card and Gallery detects and lists them without problem. Check for a file named ".nomedia" in the folders where you have the photos stored. If ".nomedia" exists, delete it.

The only other app I use to view photos is the ES Image Browser that is included with ES File Explorer. ES Image Browser is accessed by selecting a photo from within ES File Explorer. ES Image Browers has a slideshow function.

If they're running unrooted Honeycomb the stock apps need files transferred from the SD card and can;t access them directly. I'm told ICS fixes this. Patiently awaiting it here in the UK

I can access the pictures from File Manager without transfering them but no slide show

Install QuickPic from the Play Store and start using it instead of Gallery. It can access the external SD perfectly, HC or ICS. And it's slideshow function works on either and is very configurable.
Worked for me, at least.

[Q] How can I hide pictures

I've been searching all over and I havnt found any related threads regarding hiding pictures on the vibrant. I have some pictures that i want to hide but i cannot find any info on how to accomplish this. I've tried a few apps that supposedly did it but i really didnt like how they worked. If anyone has any suggestions on how to accomplish this task please share!
thanks!
You can always just create a zip file using Astro. From there move the pictures within the zip file.
Don't know why you'd want to but that should work as the regular file system/programs don't recognize zip files.
I dont want my kids to accidently stumble across certain pictures if they pick up my phone. I was hoping there was a way to rename a directory or a place that the gallery doesnt look in.
If you rename the folder with your porn pics by putting a dot in front of the folder name then that folder will be hidden. It would hide it from the gallery viewer and what not as well as from the regular file system. To access it again you'd have to use a file manager program like Astro or Root Explorer where you can navigate to those hidden folders. From there you can just enter them and click on the pictures you want to view then but you won't have the porn picture flip or scroll capability like in gallery view...
you can also add a ".nomedia" (without quotes) file to hide them too.. not sure if it works in Gallery but I know it works for music. I use it to keep my ringtones and notifications out of the music player.

Works in Gallery because I forgot I created one and I got really frustrated trying to figure out why my phone would scan files, but would never show up in gallery. LOL
I downloaded Pandora and it does a great job of hiding pictures and videos, plus it is password protected. It has a picture of a box not to be confused with Pandora music app.
Thanks guys I added a period before the folder name using Root Explorer and after a reboot it is now hidden from the gallery... exactly what i was looking for
Woohoo! The porn is safe!

[Q] Transfer photos from camera to Nook Tablet directly

Is is possible ? I heard there was Camera Connection Kit that helped camera transfer directly photos to iPad.
So, can we do this with Nook Tablet?
You could use something like Google plus or Dropin.

I transfer photos easily. I use a micro sd card in my camera ( with an sd adapter) and just pop the micro sd card into my nt. I use es file explorer to copy and paste onto my nt. I have created a folder in /data just for photos and videos from my camera. You have to change permissions on the /data folder to create the sub folder and then just change them back. I also made a shortcut on my desktop to the folder i made for easy access. The only hitch with this is that the photos don't show up in the gallery app, but when you select the photo in file explorer it will give you app options to open and view.
Doh, I was thinking you were talking about pictures on your phone.

Nope, I mean 2 separate devices and connect them without internet or PC
I don't believe the nt has usb hosting enabled.
The NC allowed for Eye-FI to be used, which is a wifi enabled sd card that beams pics to your pc, phone, or whatever, but I don't think the app is able to be used on the NT...not in my brief attempt anyway.
There is a very good chance this will work with roms in the near future
EyeFi X2 SDcard in my camera works very well with the Nook Tablet and the EyeFi App on the market. The perfect mobile combination to instantly view images on a larger display such as the NT.

[Q] How to hide some folders from the stock Gallery?

Just got my phone. I've inserted an SD card that has a lot of music, and each album has an image for the album cover.
The problem is that the stock Gallery app reconizes each album folder as a gallery. Is there a way to exclude a folder from the media scanner?
This could be done by creating a File with the name .nomedia in the folders you want to exclude.
The media scanner should then ignore those folders.
hi
Create a folder .nomedia (include the full stop at the beginning) and move required files inside. Reboot
Edit, see answered above while I was procrastinating.

Should you create a file or folder with the name .nomedia????????
I have the same problem and creating a file ".nomedia" is not a good solution...
I have like 250 albums, I should create one in every album folder?
Thank you all for answering.
@UpInTheAir, what do you mean by "(include the full stop at the beginning)"

It seems not to work anymore. When you create .nomedia files in the folders this will be ignored. What worked for S1 and S2 does not work on S3 (Android 4.0.4) any ideas?

If the music files are formatted properly, they won't show in the gallery....period.
QuickPic is hands-down, the BEST photo gallery on Android.
Download it, use it as your default, and never look back.

U can name it what ever u want u just need to put a dot in front of whatever u name it and it would show up.
I found that renaming the images to folder.jpg for instance removed them from gallery view

That worked, but i really don't want to rename every single image manually nor i want to write a piece of code to do that.
Just installed QuickPic and it not even showed such "album art" images! automatically detected and hidden.
Stock gallery still showing them (even after quickpic installed)
Is there a way to clear the media scan cache and start it again (manually)?

I did this but QuickPic doesn't have the option to include the Picasa/Google Images I have stored online.
the ".nomedia" file works. A reboot is needed though
Want to hide that private stash, right? "album art"

[Q] Galley App not displaying pictures from the DCMI folder on my SDCard

My S4's Gallery won't recognize old .jpgs. It will take new pictures, and load them to the DCMI folder as normal. The same folder also contains all my old pictures but the Gallery will only show the new pictures.
How can I "import" my old pics, or have the Gallery App recognize them?

Hello! You can try going to app settings and clearing the cache/data for the gallery app. This should force the app to rescan your sd card for content the next time you open the gallery. It doesn't hurt to unmount and mount your sd card from the storage option under settings. The latter won't work if you're storing pics on the internal card. Hope this helps.

3: click on advanced and then press start media scanner, app will close and scan wait 5 min and open gallery and check if your picture are there, if this doesn't work follow step 4.
4: click advanced then on find
missing photo go to sdcard, and click the folder where u have your pictures in my case DCIM,camera and select that folder with the check mark on the right the press menu on your phone and click add to gallery and it will start adding all the picture to your gallery let it finish now all your picture will be on your gallery use this process to add any picture on on your sdcard to gallery any question please ask... for me!

It seems the media scanner was not running upon reboot as it should (still don't know why), so the solution was downloading an app called "scan media" and all it does is launch the media scanner process to search for media and populate the media storage. The app doesn't require any permissions at all.

Any way to not show videos in Gallery?

I had a bunch of images downloaded from various sources.. I stored them all in a folder called myimgs or something like that on internal storage. It really annoyed me that they showed up in Gallery. I moved them to my external storage and that solved the issue.
However, I downloaded a bunch of music videos so I don't have to use data. I stored them on my external memory card, but they all show up in my Gallery. 400+ videos. Any way to not have that happen? Not that I have anything to hide, it's annoying to scroll through that many thumbnails.

I believe you can just make a file named
".nomedia" (without quotes) in each folder you don't want scanned.
Then open gallery app info and clear the app's cache....

Or use Samsung Secure folder to hide your videos from Gallery and only you can view it
The problem with using .nomedia is that the video players (at least the built-in one) won't recognize the videos as media, either.
