The first thing you need to do in general, is to not post questions in development.
The second thing is to read the first page of the threads and use Google for stuff like "what is gapps".
Now concerning your question: Cyanogenmod roms don't include apps like gmail, Google music, etc. These apps are called gapps (google apps!!!). Flash the gapps.zip provided with the rom, if you want these apps (usually it is found on the first page of the Rom thread).

As rickyq12 said do you know what cwm is? Do you have it? How about rooting? Are you even familiar with flashing roms? If not then start here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15693193.
If you do know about cwm or if you have it then I believe you know how it works. Flash ics first, reboot and then boot into cwm again and flash gapps. If you find it really difficult then maybe it is best to leave it for now. Just do some reading in Google and come back here. These tabs are really hard to brick but you should at least understand the basics in order to avoid any trouble. Oh and official ics is around the corner...

Here:
1) connect the USB cord to your tablet and computer.
2) Open ODIN on your computer
3) hold down power and Volume Up and until the tablet turns on. Select Download (use the volume keys).
3) Now, on your computer, open one of those files you mentioned with notepad. Add this line "234 init Q+A XDA" on the 4th or 5th line (doesn't really matter, add it anywhere except the beginning or end).
4) Flash that file to the tablet with ODIN. Wait a while; it will take a long time (up to 24 hours). When the screen flashes, immediately press the power button and hold it. That's when you'll see the magic happen!
Take a video of yourself doing this. If something goes wrong, post it here so we can help.

Here is a link to a system dump from a US galaxy player 5. I found this posted by user Meticulus on samfirmware.com and used it to fix the non usable capacitive buttons on my US galaxy player after flashing other non-us firmware which broke the buttons.

I wanted to post this in the development forum on all the threads that users had complained of this issue, but I don't have the required 10 posts. Hopefully someone else will post this in one of those threads.
what kind of files are these? why are they in this format as opposed to just making a zip with all the .apks

I didn't create it, but here is my understanding:
It's a partition dump (using dd) of /system (factoryfs.rfs ) and the kernel (zImage) rolled together to create a firmware tarball that can be flashed in odin. As far as I can tell this is the first one I have found that works on the US galaxy player 5. The other firmware packages (Korean and Italian), listed in the development section, broke the capacitive buttons (as reported by many others) on non-us models.
I have tested this on my US galaxy player 5 and it works and fixes the capacitive buttons. Additionally it does not wipe data, so your apps and configurations will stay.
I don't know how you could restore a system with apk's, so I am note sure what your referring to.
I have the galaxy player 4 and what I want the player 5 dump for is to get the official msn messenger that comes with the player 5 according to samsung's product page.
If the 5 comes with msn messenger can you upload the .apk for me?
I hate that iOS has the official msn messenger but Andriod does not.
thnx
Glad I could help... As far as I know my player did not come with msn messenger. I don't have it with me but I'll check later tonight...

First of all thanks for sharing.
I just installed PacRom 4.3 on my SGP5 US, don't know what was it that killed the capacitive buttons but they don't respond no more, their leds are on, but no response on touch.
So now I have two questions:
Do you believe I can install/flash it along with the existing OS?
The link you provided directs to www.multiupload.com/681518H5EF which looks like malware asking me to install a downlader, do you still have the file?

Did you flash the right kernel ? (US version)
According to PAC-ROM's installation instructions, the kernel included in the ROM is the INTL one, download and flash the US version.
By the way you replied to a quite old thread, I don't think these informations are accurate now.

WELL I GOT THE BUTTONS TO WORK BACK AGAIN, PLUS THE CHARGING BOOT LOOP IS GONE!
I re-flashed and repartitioned the stock rom with pit file with odin all over again.
Now I'm using stock rom, will have to root, CWMize and install JB all over again.
Yeah, I may have to do the same... if I can get my computer to recognize my USB cable.
Just in case anyone needs the file posted in the OP:
http://www.4shared.com/rar/QQFeyJ_g/YP-G70_UEKI8_MIN.html?
NOTE: This thread was created along time ago before there were any custom roms for the YP-G70. People were flashing the stock INT ROMS to their USA Players, causing their capacitive buttons not to work. Before I created the file above, there was no stock USA ROM to fix it....
So this thread has nothing to do with capacitive button issues on custom roms!

The Samsung "space" screen comes up, screen goes black, repeats, etc. t happened when I flashed the file above, btw..
I have one cellphone, Galaxy S3.
I just installed this new Omega ROM v9.0 thinking it might be one of the best now in circulation, and I'm not mistaken, I was inclined now only between the Foxhound, the CheckRom, and the Omega, but only this one had the camera and fix the things very much nice ...
I installed the version without Boatware, I have also removed the S-Voice, I say nonsense, cmq reinstalled the Omega Files, but I no longer starts by clicking the home button 2 times, you know something?
Another question, Omega Roma v 9.0 has the OTA updates?
I also wonder, how do they put the pre-defined backgrounds Samsung? I wanted the flower head, which is already set to the lock screen, but when I go to insert it, even in the home page there is no image in the gallery ... mmm ... help
I have: Omega rom v9.0, kernel franco r10, modem xxblfb.
But why not asking in the Rom thread?

If you can't find an answer in Q&A that's why you start a new thread in Q&A to ask the question. Threads and responses in the Dev area should be to help a dev or release work you have done yourself. But to do you a solid the easiest solution to your problem is to use desktop Odin and flash the bootloader file under the BOOTLOADER option.
Guys, this is a thread about a rom that already has a thread in this same forum. Searching there will more than likely give you the info you need. Happy searching!
Well checked out the ROM. Here are the bugs I found out so far:
1.The number of home screens is almost always double the number selected.
2.Wallpaper issue from 4.1.2 still isn't fixed.
3.Feeles a lot slower than the 4.1.2.
4.Panorama force closes.
5.No photosphere.
This is the only bugs I have noticed as of now. But still I'm glad that our beloved tab got this update in the first place!
Thanks a lot pershoot! Great job! Looking forward to more fixes in future releases

I didn't create a new one as this one was already running (although in the wrong forum at the time) Thanks for the tip about desktop Odin, I was hoping to use mobile Odin as my laptop isn't setup with any tools at the moment. I didn't need to flash anything anyway, I remembered that I bought my Tab in the USA so it already had it.
So far running good with the Rom, I'm really liking the new UI as it means I make less mistakes when typing as the notifications are now at the top of the screen. The keyboard issue is annoying but I had the same problem in CM10

Hi,
So I am a huge fan of Android and the development community here
I don't like Apple at all, however I keep having to switch back- because their product is far more stable
Now- I'm using rXtreme v12, and nobody else using the ROM is encountering the of crashes I am having. I've uninstalled some mod's (like CRT-off) and several app's I felt may have caused it. I'm not using any theme's, and I'm not running NovoLauncher.
Crash= phone reboots instantly (no warning) then freezes at startup. Battery remove required.
The only evidence I can link to the crashes (phone worked perfectly until this began happening):
The stock browser began to 'forget' me- Google asking me to sign in at the home page even if I haven't exited the browser, and my never rebooting to my browsing sessions.
Otherwise the crashes are completely random- pressing the back button whilst listening to music, responding to a message, closing an application etc. They occur 1-3 times a day.
I had an 8GB MicroSD card, and I've just replaced it with a brand new 64GB one- so I don't think this is the problem.
I've read through the freezing thread, and I am based on the "most stable/crash free build (XXBMF1).
I've been using it (well, without a SIM card because I can't afford to be using an unstable phone as it's for business) for about 3 months, and I've been through multiple versions of the rom, and done countless wipe's, and re-installs.
Is there some error logging app I can installed to try and narrow down this issue? What else can I try?
define "crash". provide a logcat. Google it for a guide
Do you mean that the entire phone crashes and reboots, or just a particular message pops up

I use this ROM for these features:

- Long hold button light/music changer volume buttons
- Battery saving features
- S tweaks (volume boost)
- Titanium backup
- Mega Bass beats
So the browser issue I mentioned (how it doesnt store my sessions, or remember im logged in with google)- does that not link to some other problem?

Try another rom all this stuff you want you can get easy using/flashing some mods or download from playstore. Do some research on what you like really in a rom not just a part of it and flash it.
In your world I would be considered crazy, in my world too but they know me here at least.
So nobody can make any link my browser issues with my crashes? Please try. Before I switch roms can we figure out this problem first?

So far it's been a bout 4 days of heavy use, and no crashes. My browser still doesn't remember my sessions, but I'll just have to find an alternative.
Does jkay still have the battery optimization built into this rom?
Hello everyone
A friend with SGS SIII I9300 asked me if can help him to have a smooth device like my sgsa gt i9070.
The forum for the sIII is a lot bigger and more complex than the sgsa forum and I`m kinda lost so I dont know where to post my question as i didnt find a Q&A general thread.
I think that rooting, flashing a custom kernel and set a governer and a scheduler would do the trick as he is new to android.
Can someone point me some thread links in order to achieve my goal?
Thank you all in advance

For rooting the galaxy s3 you can follow the instructions provided in my website: http://goo.gl/RH2zWV
the procedure explained in above post works only for the International version of samsung galaxy s3..
For installing a custom rom, you can choose CyanogenMod 10.2(android 4.3)... To flash CyanogenMod Download the CyanogenMod rom from below link:
CyanogenMod 10.1.3 (Android 4.2) : http://download.cyanogenmod.org/get/jenkins/42508/cm-10.1.3-i9300.zip
CyanogenMod 10.2 (Android 4.3) : http://download.cyanogenmod.org/get/jenkins/43342/cm-10.2-20131001-NIGHTLY-i9300.zip
If you want to flash Android 4.2, download CyanogenMod 10.1.3 else if you want to flash Android 4.3 Download CM 10.2 from the link above.
You will also need to download the Gapps. Download it from the link below:
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip
After the download finishes follow the steps given below:
1. Place the CyanogenMod rom .zip and the gapps .zip file on the root of the SD card
2. Boot to recovery mode on the device by holding Home & Volume Up & Power.
3. Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod Recovery, use the physical volume buttons to move up and down and home button to choose the option selected.
4. You can create a backup of the current installation on the device by selecting backup and restore option but this is optional, you can skip this step but it would be better to create a backup for if anything goes wrong.
5. Select the option to wipe data/factory reset.
6. Select install zip from sdcard.
7. Select choose zip from sdcard.
8. Select the CyanogenMod file you placed on the sdcard. You will then need to confirm that you do wish to flash this file. ( this step may take some time)
9. Again follow the steps 6 & 7 and after that select the Gapps file you placed on the sdcard. You will then need to confirm that you do wish to flash this file.
10. Once the installation has finished, return back to the main menu, and select the reboot system now option. The device should now boot into CyanogenMod.
