1. Will the EVO LTE have the MAP Bluetooth profile?
2. Can a custom ROM add this profile?
3. Does the One X have the MAP profile?
The MAP profile allows sending and receiving text messages through Bluetooth, as in a car stereo. I've looked on a few sites and haven't seen that it's included, but since the phone isn't out I guess I don't trust them. I would guess that the One X will be the same in this regard so maybe someone knows a little about the One X to shed some light on this. Thanks in advance!
FYI..... Phone scoop lists MAP as a profile.

I just paired my new EVO 3D with my Ford Sync system in my 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid, when I try to use the Text to Speech feature it tells me this feature is not supported on my phone.
Does the EVO 3D in all its glory really not have this capability, my EVO 4G didn't work and I just figured since it was older and didn't have the latest blue-tooth, but now I have the top of the line phone and get the same issue.

Its not HTC, its is ford sync. Ford has to update the software to be perfectly compatible with this feature. I have a 2010 ford focus with sync. I have tried a blackberry, a feature phone, the htc hero, evo and now the evo 3d. None of them work....and the sync website have very few phones listed to work with this feature.
I'm not able to test this until later tonight since I'm at work but someone posted this on the official sync message board and says it works, you just need to turn it on if you want to give it a try.
Go to Bluetooth, Advanced Settings and Enable Message access.
yep good ole Ford.

I just tried and it didn't seem to work. Let me know if you get it working.
Ok, I called Sprint, HTC and Ford.
Ford told me no HTC Phones Support Text to Speech. And not all Carriers Do.
Sprint told me they support it.
HTC told me they had no clue what I was talking about but sounded like a Ford Issue.
Ok as another update. According to this page the EVO 3d supports MAP, so I'm seriously thinking its a Ford Issue now. - http://www.htc.com/us/support/evo3d-sprint/help/bluetooth
Which Bluetooth profiles and functions does the phone support? close
The phone supports the following Bluetooth Profiles: A2DP, FTP, OPP, PBAP, AVRCP, GAP, GOEP, HFP, HID, HSP, MAP, SPP and SDAP profiles, as well as other standard profiles.

Ever get this figured out? I get an error that my phone isn't supported yet it sure is listed as supported on the ford site.
I work for Ford UK and I can tell you Ford Sync is windows based.... It is only fully compatible with the Nokia windows phones. Why ford choose to not make the system fully compatible with android, seeing as its the biggest market share, is beyond me.
Even the iPhone is not compatible, most handsets you can call and stream music, that's it.

You answered your own question with the first sentence. Sync is a Microsoft product. They're playing the same games they, and Apple, have always played. They'll do their best to support THEIR product, and just enough for the others to hope folks think they're "OK."
Are there any ICS roms that have support for bluetooth message access profile? It's for accessing sms via external equipment like car decks.
Thanks
Functionalities depend on module, not ROM.
So does that mean GSII does not and will not have MAP capability?
I'm pretty sure GSII is capable of doing MAP ..it's just missing the software. It uses the same Broadcom BCM4330 chip which is also found in the Nexus ..and that according to Google, supports Message Access Profile http://support.google.com/nexus/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2687662
MAP sounds like it could be incorporated into another Rom.
How can we do this?
Can the bluetooth software from the Galaxy be pulled from the phone?
Who knows how to do this?
Hi all -
I have a Cobra iRadar Detector. It connects to the phone via BT and that is how and were you see your speed and other general radar detector stuff.
I also have a Motorola SD10 BT headset. Since I drive all day, I need the headset to call the office and clients but the radar so I don't get pulled over.
How can I connect both simultaneously? I think I'd have to use the BT headset as Call Only and the BT Radar as Media only. And I'll try that today. But will I have to re-connect each time I turn off the engine and the Radar goes out? Or will it just stay connected? Or is there another way to have two devices connected at the same time?
Of course, if there are other questions I need to ask, please feel free to post those as well.

For speed just download a GPS speedometer they are far more accurate than than anything else.
In fact if you get one that saves the data you can use it as evidence to get out of a speeding ticket.
Unless you make a habit of speeding.... tut tut.

I actually use WAZE for GPS, which also has a speedometer and is crowd sourced so that other area drivers can post accidents, traffic jams, police and other useful information. Very handy, and as a person that drives 200+ miles a day in the city, it's useful.
The iRadar detector is just good enough for certain circumstances. I found that by having the BT headset as phone only, the radar detector works the media aspect and thus I'm able to use both - as I'd figured.
When I'm on the BMW motorcycle, speeding isn't an issue, I go so fast you didn't even see me come from behind and pass you.
Has anyone had a problem with connecting the 920 to a car kit?
I've got a Vauxhall (GM) Insignia with the built in car kit. The 920 will connect to the car and the phone book and call lists will sync, however, when I try to make a call I get a message on the screen saying "Dialing Failed". I can make calls from the phone and they will go through the BT car kit. Same if I receive a call I can use the buttons on the steeringwheel to answer the call.
I did have a HTC HD2 with Winphone 7.5 and that worked flawlessly with the car kit, but this isn't so happy. Anyone got any suggestions?
As an aside, how do you change the name of the Phone so it doesn't just appear as "Windows Phone"?
Thanks

Use the Windows Phone App in Win8 to change the name. Maybe uss the Market (on a desktop browser, log in) to change the name - forgot if that's an option.
As far as cars go, every bluetooth phone I've had has been hit or miss - even the iPhone 4 I had worked, didn't work, then worked again at various versions of iOS on my Nissan.
I have a GM (Traverse) and it seems to like both my HTC Titan 7.5 and my Lumia 920 - the bluetooth stack in WP8 is different than the one used in WP7.5, apparently that's causing you issues.
Can you initiate voice calling from the steering wheel hands free? I can do that in my GM but not in my Nissan - if you can then you don't need the address book to sync.

Name: Yeah, worked that one out after I posted the message, thanks anyway
No, using the voice control doesn't work, the Dialing Failed message. Lets hope the first update may help
I can't even connect to the BT Kit in my Ford Focus. When I hit connect, the car doesn't show the PIN to connect as it should. The car kit works with HTC One X and iPhone 4s as expected. Read somewhere, that some BT protocols are missing in WP8. Rumours say, that this might get fixed with the next bigger update for WP in Q1 13. Let's hope it.

Had the same issue with my 2012 Ford Ranger, eventually got it working by doing the following:
When you pair your Lumia with your car, enter any PIN on your Lumia even if your car doesnt give you a pin. Once you enter a PIN on your Lumia and hit enter your car should provide you with the correct PIN to enter, then just enter the provided PIN and it should work.
Hi,
Its proving hard to find a definitive answer anywhere on this, but can anyone confirm if the Z2 is definitely compatible with the Jawbone Up24 for example?
The Up24 requires Bluetooth Smart / LE (low Energy) which, as I understand it, is one of the Bluetooth 4.0 profiles.
Their website does say it is compatible with the Z1, but no mention of the Z2 or Z3. I would assume it is I suppose, but I find it strange nobody seems to actually say so, anywhere that I can find.
Any of the phone specs I've read say "v4.0, A2DP, apt-X" or "Object Push Profile (OPP)"
Also, in a Sony whitepaper, I see the following:
Bluetooth® profiles supported:
Advanced Audio Distribution Profile v1.2
Audio/Video Remote Control Profile v1.3
Device Identification Profile v1.3
Generic Attribute Profile Client/Server over LE
Handsfree Profile v1.6 (Wide band speech)
Headset Profile v1.2
Health Device Profile v1.1
HID over GATT Profile v1.0
Human Interface Device Profile, Host role v1.1
Messaging Access Profile v1.0
Object Push Profile v1.1
Personal Area Networking Profile v1.0
Phonebook Access Profile v1.1
Serial Port Profile v1.1
Core version and supported core features:
Version 4.0
Bluetooth Low Energy

Nobody?
ok, well, for anyone who is interested, I just noticed Garmin are listing the Z2 as compatible with their Bluetooth Smart (BTLE) products.
That's enough for me.
