I am using a Ginger DX 2.3.7 released last year.
I trying to flash the ICS kernel and keep failing. End up I just realize I haven't unlock the bootloader. I attempted many things in my flashtool to unlock it but still fail to unlock the bootloader.
In the flash tool:
I pressed for APK installer
I pressed for recovery installer
Ended up my phone's boot screen Stopped at "sony erricson".
Is the flashtool capable to flash back the generic kernel and ROM at this moment?
I just try to flash the generic kernel i downloaded:

Hi,
So I've got an xperia x10, and it was still running 1.6 so I wanted to upgrade it. So I went on the phone, selected software update (in settings -> about phone) and pressed update (didn't use any SE update tools on the PC). It started downloading the update, and after that it rebootet and started installing the update. At the last step however, this comes up:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And this happens every time I try rebooting the phone, so I cannot start the phone.
Now I've tried several things:
- Repair phone using PC pc companion
Result: No update avaiable
- Update via SE update service
Result: You already have the newest software
- Flash via x10 flash tool ()
It says "Start flashing" but then nothing happens - seems like it doesn't
connect properly
It does seems like the phone boot into flashing mode when I try, at least the SE tools continues after I start the phone in flash mode (screen is just black but the green LED is on).
So is there anyway I can repair my phone? (I'm afraid I cannot go to a store and make them do it, I got the phone from previous workplace)
Thanks for any help!

Flash process finished without kernel. You didn't do something stupid like tick exclude kernel, right?
Shutdown flashtool and disconnect your phone, and do the process again.
And may I ask you, since you already followed tutorial, why not asking in it, instead of creating new thread?

I Faced The Same problem many times. do this what i did - when it ask to connect in flash mode, hold down back key then connect via usb. wait for flashtool saying "the flashing started"(or A Sound Of PC that some usb thing is connected), now release the back button. if this process not working try it 2-4 times again. it'll work!
flashing kernel

Bro, its better to use fastboot mode.
connect your device in fastboot mode
put ur kernel (IMG file) in androidsdk/tools folder
go to start menu and type cmd and press enter
in cmd write these commands
cd/
cd androidsdk/tools
fastboot flash boot (type kernel name.img without brackets)
So its done / if you want know how to get and use fastboot , you can ask i will tell
Guys ... after i install this Kernel "X10i_3.0.1.G.0.75_Kernel_And_Baseband.ftf", the cellphone don't install any other kernel or even reboot on recovery

you can not install custom kernels without unlocking the bootloader...
to unlock bootloader.. start the phone, enable USB/android debugging and then connect the phone to the laptop.. turn on flashtool and go to "plugins" and you should see unlock bootloader option select and tun it... once the bootloader is unlocked you can install any kernel you want...

I once had this error too, There are 2 getarounds (actually you'll always at some-point have to go with the 2nd Option)
1. Boot up the phone, enable USB debugging, click on the kernel button (Flashtool comes with Doom-Kernel) and/or goto recovery menu, reboot/(set default kernel) kernel, select specific kernel and voilla!
2. Or Unlock your Boot-Loader.
Ok, I've installed all the drivers that come with flashboot (xperia u, flashboot and fastboot)
ST25i
firmware 6.1.1.B.1.54
ics 4.0.4
Says in the settings that it can be unlocked.
Gone all the way through the official method, at the end it just says "root failed" (rechecked both modes multiple times.
Installed flashtool, tried that method, root fails.
Run "root many android", also fails.
I am running everything in admin mode, the phone stays in fastboot and driver is recognized... I just have no idea.

better unock through flashtool
u trying to root or unlock bootloader??
I think he wants to root it...You have to flash .B.1.10 kernel as first. After that you can root (by any method, but I strongly recommend latest Flashtool). And after rooting flash back kernel B.1.54
Where do I get the kernel and how do I flash it? Thanks!
I've tried using this, but get the error "the device must be rooted 1st"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1926387
Now following this guide, gets stuck when it tells me to unplug the device, hold the back button (up arrow) and plug in the usb, phone comes on, computer recognises, phone stays with blue led lit... nothing happens..
Use flashtool to flash stock kernel. Search for. 10 and. 54 kernels on forum
Sent from my Xperia Sola (XDA for Android)
Flash .10 kernel first. Root your phone with "root many android" trheads method and watch the tut vid. Then flash. 54 kernel. I couldnt find "root many android" topic with my phone, so just search for it. When using flashtool to flash kernels, first install drivers from drivers folder, then boot your phone in flashmode. Hope this helps

Hi everyone!
Not sure if this is in the right category so i apologize..
I've got Marshmallow (rooted, xposed..) and before i wanted to update it to Nougat i made a hard reset so i start from beginning with Nougat.
In Flashtool while flashing there was error and there was one info that said USB debugging must be on.. Great, now i can't even boot my phone.. After some tryings there is no more Update failed message while trying to boot it but just Sony logo stays forever...
Please help me coz i don't know what to do anymore, i need my phone ofc... Thank You!..

P.S. Xperia Companion Software Repair doesn't work coz bootloader was unlocked..
download the latest flashtool
http://www.flashtool.net/index.php
use the built in xperifirm button to go grab the right software for your phone, then flash it in flashmode. The tool tells you when it's ready and tells you what to do. (phone powered off, connect usb cable while holding vol-down WHEN PROMPTED)
You can leave all the options default on the firmware selector screen, though you may wish to tick the "USERDATA" box under wipe if you want to start fresh.
